Please note...- The last date to post your introduction post is the June 18th. Without an introduction post you cannot battle. - Certain moves can't be used in the Pit because of the surroundings and other moves can affect more than one creature at the same time. After all introduction posts have been posted you will be informed whether those two apply to any of your creatures' moves. - That you have 3 days to post a response to a calculation post and/or roleplay post. The 3 day deadline is not extended if your foe posts after a calculation post. Not meeting the deadline results in an automatic disqualification. - That characters level once every 20 posts in the Fighting Pit, but pets gain levels and loyalty towards their owners normally.

Both of the last couple of rounds were so close, that Renathan had been terrified that they would lose both times. Seeing Shy Guy nearly downed the first time had only made Renathan thankful that he didn't die from being steamrolled; the second time though had made Renathan nearly vomit. The last thundergug had hit him so hard that he'd been dragging his hind legs, as if he couldn't move them. Most creatures would lay down after that; it was unnatural looking, and made Renathan (who hunted for his food often enough) sick for hours. Today, he gently brushed out the perfectly healed stallion's mane before bringing him to the pit. Renathan had his fingers crossed that there wouldn't be any more thundergugs for a while. It made him nervous. Renathan lead the stallion down into the pit, and then petted his nose before jumping up into the stands. He was anxious, of course, but Shy Guy seemed... Excited. Ready. He was taking to this so well; he wasn't afraid at all. Renathan had thought that he would do well in tournies, but he was doing surprisingly well. Renathan was anxious now, that their relative luck would run straight out. He shivered as he sat down in the stands, and watched the dirt of the pit floor to see what they would be up against. He could almost have chanted; 'please no thundergugs, please no thundergugs...' Shy Guy didn't care either way, as he eyed the opposite end of the pit with pure determination in his pale blue eyes.

It was pleasing to get Vidarr into flexing some other sort of power than his brawn occasionally. Surely his strong point should be played upon, but Lethalia had hoped to make him stop and think once in a while. Last battle had given the drake at least slight pause more than usual, and real results from brandishing the wind as a weapon. That was some kind of progress.
Vidarr's nostrils flared even as he approached the pit door, thorned brows furrowed in concentration over the perplexing scent on the other side. Not quite prey, acid, sweet. Lethalia left him to contemplate the opening doors to get a look herself, taking long double-stair strides up to the stands.
Ah. There was the sort of creature she was waiting to see. Vidarr was such a creature of flesh and blood, even with the wind at his wings - it should be no surprise that there's simply creatures out there that are just something other. The sort she'd tried to warn Vidarr about, for he would take this no more seriously than the delicate pures he knew in her paddocks. This stallion... wasn't like them. There was something about the unknown that made it near as bad as facing down a gug.

Renathan knew this Sarane. This was Vidarr, or something, right? A powerful, huge, and well trained creature that tended to do quite well against other sarane. Renathan tried to remember what kind of element it was imbued with... Either way, this was bad. He swallowed his panic, mentally, and tried not to worry too much. Either way, Shy Guy was having none of that, and instead lowered his head; it was not a display of weakness, but a threat with that horn. Undoubtedly, the equillion body language was much different than that of the sarane. Renathan knew that it was time to get started; and immediately whistled the command for the screeching noise. This was absolutely required in any battle; Renathan didn't even know a pit fighter that didn't use that dodging thing anymore. They actually had pretty big chances of losing all of these battles so far, and it was nerve wracking. Renathan was certainly not confident at all. He trembled, in the stands, no longer the pit trainer he once was. Shy Guy raises up on his hind legs, and opens his mouth, releasing a screech that could probably wake even the dead; high pitched and haunting. His looked every bit of a horrible day-dream turned nightmare. Renathan was already planning their next move before his front legs even hit the dirt.

Panic flared in her chest, but Lethalia had forced herself to grow less reactive to the feeling this many fights in. She had to resign herself to the idea that the Vidarr could fall; it was absolutely going to happen for the first time during this tournament. To deny it would be asinine, and she nor her forest drake were going to face a challenge already on their knees. Thoughts turning inwards, her mind churned as she tried to remember - he'd never had been met with any sort of roar, had he? There was so much to him that made him appear so experienced from how he carried himself down to his real victories.
Yet, her drake hadn't really seen anything at all yet.
|Vidarr,| she prompts, the opposing equillion already rearing up with intent. It's not clear, but as battles go, there are generally some fair assumptions to make. It was amazing how quickly the mind darted from one matter to another, in decisions like this. |I need you... to make the air stand still. Can you try?|
There was no command for this trick, but mere knowledge it was something that was possible. Never was had there been a deeper scowl on his brow, but the immediacy which his wings snapped out belied how much he'd been thrown off. More than she'd believed he'd be affected. |...Yes.| Perhaps because he intended to please her, or because he had no other answer in the face of something he'd never seen before. He was relying on her to help guide him through this, but the satyr's heart dropped with the thought that she might not be able to, this time.

Renathan had never heard of nor seen this before; and he grit his teeth beneath the mask. This was going to be as horrible and tough as he thought it would. The idea of Shy Guy getting hurt by a sarane drake caused him to think back to the sarane tournies, which had began to cause him to get less and less interested in the pit as time went on and on. He clenched his fists; the screech, for once, had not worked. He willed through the link for Shy Guy to do something, anything, to take a potshot at the horrible creature. It didn't seem like the silence would stop; meaning that Shy Guy was going to get his chances anyway. He called out the command the best he could, hoping that their bond would cause the stallion to understand what he meant; "Catch wide!" Shy Guy may had had a hard time hearing the command, but he could feel it through the empathic link; the need for him to attack in some manner. His hooves hit the ground and he lowers his head as he kicks off running; ready to hit him with his horn, and rip out anything he could in the process. Renathan knew he wasn't going to hit, but maybe it would let them know that they meant business.

Though her hands had come up to block the beginnings of an ungodly scream, the din of the crowd behind her and the screech deform strangely. Something akin to an airy shock wave immediately followed the contorted noises, rendering everything still enough in it's wake to cut everything silent.
Vidarr's wings came down after they'd thundered open, the sudden absence of noise and ringing in his ears . It would seem that winds were more of a weapon than he'd realized, turning out to be more capable with every capability he realized it had.
|...you did it!| Lethalia beamed, charmed he'd managed to pull it off on the fly. She's yet to decipher what this is, really, but she can figure that out later with him. |Fly,| she told him, unsure if her voice would carry in the aftermath of whatever this was he'd done. |Being in the air is the best advantage you have.|
There's so much of her that wants to meet the charging stallion's might with Vidarr's own, but gaining altitude on him felt more important. Hopefully, they'd get a chance later. For now, the prospect of being airborne - something more familiar than this thing he was battling - was enticing enough to launch him skyward with little argument. Wings flexed and spread, and Lethalia's counting on that he can dodge that first swing on his way into the air.

This got out of hand, VERY very quickly. Renathan was up on his feet now, heart in his throat. This can go very, very south incredibly quickly. Shy Guy had lost his advantage. However, Renathan knew that there was no way that they could win now. What was that, earlier? That weirdo thing that the drake did with the air that seemed to make it quieter? Renathan grit his teeth, and then whistled a command, hoping that they could get an attack in before the big creature did whatever it was going to do. He whistled out the haunting whistle command for the venomous bite. The opponent would probably make a horrible noise at Shy Guy at this point, which, if judging by the last few fights, would waste them some time. This was absolutely the most horrible possible outcome for them. Renathan tried not to despair. Shy Guy, on the other hand; readied himself for the attack, staring up at the flying thing above.

Vidarr felt more at ease in the air, Lethalia could feel some of his worry melt away as he gained distance from the ground. Though she didn't care to let him relax by any means in the pit, especially with this one. As long as he kept listening though, letting him maintain his type of calm should help him. She might not normally think of this as bringing about some sort of peace in the beast, but it truly feels like the only times he's got any sort of composure or real drive. He was a different creature when entranced by battle, as opposed to the dork she would have the moment they stepped away from the sands.
However many other tricks this equid had, she's not certain there's any point in keeping away from him - plenty of creatures had some kind of range available to them. Lethalia had to wonder if some even snatch a giant drake out of the air, and she bites her lip when the stallion looks ready to try and do just that. If nothing else, it would be a spectacle to witness! |Keep your distance for now,| she directs him, |Gust.| They could make some noise, but there was hope for an opening for that later.
The drake stilled as his wings extended; the maneuver always made her heart drop, when he was in the air. Vidarr lost altitude rapidly without his wings working, giving him enough time to swipe at the creature with a cutting wind before catching the air in his wings again, an attempt to ascend before the creature can reach him.

Crap, crap, crap, we are going to lose. Renathan was terrified, absolutely terrified of losing. He swallows hard, heavily considering quitting, heavily considering stopping the tournament altogether so that he can go enjoy something not so awful and stressful. For a moment there, watching Shy Guy miss the enemy by a hair's breadth, he realized that it was their one chance. There was no way in heck they could win now... That was there only chance, right there. Shy Guy is still staring at the opponent when he hits the ground again, like he wasn't sure what to do anymore. Renathan grit his teeth. Do they go for it again? If they do, the chances of getting roared at and then hit were incredibly high. Why hadn't the enemy roared at them yet? Panic was hitting Renathan HARD. They were going to lose, and he was sick for it. He hated this. After this, he'd be lucky if he even came back to the pit; there wasn't anything here for him. He called out the command for the venomous bite again; it was the only thing they had left.

Regardless of missing his first strike, she still couldn't bring herself to trust what this thing was capable of doing. Though she doesn't have a mamillan's sense of smell, there's an acrid burning in the back of her throat; at some point, Lethalia realized it was a vector from what Vidarr was picking up, laying over her own senses. As if the neon-colored drool wasn't indication of it enough. Their adversary was agile and huge, in a completely different fashion than Vidarr was. It would be foolish to hope for another such miss to keep the drake out of harm's way.
Never had she demanded of Vidarr to be so cautious before. Expecting unrest from the beast at his power being pulled back, she'd gotten none of his sass yet. Hard to tell if he was just too focused to fuss about it, she demanded of him something else he wasn't going to be happy about - |Roar!| Part of her wanted to retain it to keep him capable of startling the stallion out of something else she disliked, but another lunge for the drake in the air was unfavorable enough.
Even in the fog of war settled over his mindscape, she could feel Vidarr's feelings coming to the forefront again to question her. At least she didn't have to worry about his lack of talking back any more. |Fight! Blood!| he barked, even as the stadium began to crackle with his rolling growl. Not the most eloquent of creatures even at the best of times, it was enough to get his point across. He's not about to sit there and think of words when there's something trying to bite him just below!
|I know,| she reassured him best she could, |Soon. For now though, make some noise!|
