Please note...- The last date to post your introduction post is the July 3rd. Without an introduction post you cannot battle. - Certain moves can't be used in the Pit because of the surroundings and other moves can affect more than one creature at the same time. After all introduction posts have been posted you will be informed whether those two apply to any of your creatures' moves. - That you have 3 days to post a response to a calculation post and/or roleplay post. The 3 day deadline is not extended if your foe posts after a calculation post. Not meeting the deadline results in an automatic disqualification. - That characters level once every 20 posts in the Fighting Pit, but pets gain levels and loyalty towards their owners normally.

Well that had been a little stressful. Ashe had had to deal with something back at home on his farm, and hadn't made it back in time for the next round in the tournament. He decided to keep it a secret from Ghidorah, not letting him know he'd 'lost', and that alone was hard enough to keep secret from their mind link. On top of that, Ghidorah could sense something was wrong with his human, and kept glancing up at him quizzically from down below in the sands of the Pit. He prowled around, looking for his opponent, waiting, but occasionally distracted by Ashe's unease. Embarrassment, shame, disappointment - these were hard emotions to hide when you had a close bond with a creature, but Ashe hoped he managed it decently enough. Absentmindedly, he patted Inyala, who sat on the railing right in front of him. That wasn't one of their usual interactions, however, and Inyala grew tired of it, eventually swiping at his hand and scurrying away. Startled, Ashe blinked down at her, then realized what he must have been doing and chuckled. "Sorry, Y'la. Guess I'm a little distracted today, huh?"
Resolved to focus more, Ashe dragged his mind back to the Pit and his opponent. Who would walk through that door?

Another day, another battle. It was getting to be such routine these days for Aster to come down with Grunty to the Pit. It had been a little strange at first, since it had been so long since they'd last set foot there the first day of the new tournament, but Aster had spent so much time here over the years.
The citizens on that particular route must have gotten used to the spectacle too. Hardly anyone batted an eye when they saw some hulking monster following someone out to the Pit. He wondered what the property prices must have been like there. He couldn't imagine it was a very popular neighborhood, for noise complaints if nothing else. Thundergugs weren't known for their lightness of foot, and Grunty was no exception.
Once they were in the Pit proper, he parted ways with Grunty and made his way up to the stands.

Another Gug! Thankfully, it wasn't Kro, which meant they at least stood a chance. Ashe would get to see if Ghidorah was skilled enough to take on one of these tanks, without getting wrecked instantly. The Sarane stopped pacing when the Gug joined him in the sand, and he slowly prowled a circle around his opponent, eyeing him, sizing him up. It looked like the last one to him; both were black and white. Different patterns, which didn't mean much to the Drake. He was ready for what he felt was round two!
"Dröhnen!" Ashe told him, through the ribbon of telepathy they shared. He didn't believe in pleasantries or delaying battles by chit chat, so he cut right to it. If the opponent felt the same way, or figured out what was going on, great. So far, no one had dawddled enough to let Ashe's creature get in a strike without fighting back.
Ghidorah swept into action, unfurling his wings and flapping so he could rear up, prepping for that loud, thunderous crack he was about to prepare.

"A drake, huh?" Aster mused from his place in the stands. Boy if that didn't feel nostalgic. He was a little surprised to see one here, given it was a free-for-all tournament, but the glut of Sarane tourneys meant that this one was probably at least relatively well-trained.
Grunty regarded the Sarane evenly, having been around enough of them not to feel threatened, which in this case might not have been the best reaction. [Hey, don't let your guard down,] Aster said.
Unfortunately, whether or not Grunty was underestimating the opponent, he was still a little sluggish to start. By the time he had readied himself, the Sarane was already in motion. Aster honestly expected it to roar, but as soon as he saw the drake's wings unfurl, he knew that they were in for something else.
There was nothing they could do in the face of the crash of noise, however. Well, it was what it was.

Now take to the sky! Ashe told Ghidorah through their mind link. The Sarane already had his wings open, so taking off wouldn't be that much of a stretch, and they had the bonus of startling that Thundergug. A little hesitation could go a long way when a Sarane became airborne, but one hit from that gug could send Ghidorah to the infirmary. Ashe didn't want the battle to end so quickly or so far out of his favor.
Ghidorah flapped his wings and lifted off the ground, confident in his speed and ability to get in the air and hopefully out of range of that powerful beast. He let out a (relatively speaking) soft roar, not meant to intimidate but meant to boost himself, pent up rage from the lost slipping out in a declaration of victory. To a sarane, flying above a grounded opponent was an instinctive way to win. Take to the air at all costs, and dodge and swoop.
Ashe and Inyala watched the takeoff, then turned their attention to the gug, to see what he would do to retaliate. If he could somehow reach, or if he had a long range attack to use. Ashe's hands gripped the bar, tense. The battle could go either way. Of course he hoped Ghidorah could pull it off, he had issues with losing that would affect later battles. But gugs were tough.

The crack of thunder, or something very like, cracked through the stadium. Aster grimaced from his place in the stands. As the rumble of noise faded, Grunty shook his head. [Don't like that,] he grumbled. Aster was inclined to agree. It was a useful sort of skill to have, and they had made use of it on plenty of occasions themselves, but it was never a pleasant experience even when you could sense it coming.
But, well, speaking of that... [You good to go?] Aster asked over their mental link. But he might as well have saved himself the trouble. If Grunty had enough presence of mind to complain, then the effects of the noise must have worn off.
Grunty gave a wordless affirmation. [Alright, your turn then. Show em what you've got,] Aster said.
On his cue, Grunty rose up on his hind legs, muscles pulled taut--- then crashed down all at once, putting his weight into it, and sending up a deafening noise of his own.

Aster sighed. Flight was quickly becoming their enemy in this particular tournament. Grunty could hit something when it was in the air, but it threw off his aim considerably, and even the Gug himself was showing the beginnings of vexation when he saw the opponent take off. He didn't remember much, but he didn't like to chase things down, and he knew that there was going to be a chase when the drake took to the air.
[Jump on him, and put some weight into it,] Aster suggested. If Grunty could get a little height, maybe he would have better luck. Even if they only grazed the drake, they could make it count. This early in the fight, Grunty still had the energy to pull off some acrobatics--- or what counted as acrobatics for a Thundergug, anyway.
Grunty let out an affirmative rumble, then took a running start that turned into a lunge. It wasn't even the least bit graceful, but with his size, at least it was a little terrifying.

Ashe winced, never liking having one of his own attacks used against him, and not by a Thundergug. But they had the upper hand, being in the air now, so maybe Ghidorah could just stay out of range, maybe he'd gotten enough height before the Gug made all that noise. The Sarane hissed and snarled, shaking his head, completely distracted by the loud noise and therefore unable to focus enough to attack. Ashe knew this, yet he still tried to send commands through the link, always trying to fight the noise in these battles, always making that attempt. Better to go down fighting to stay aloft than to just let it happen. Ashe was never one to just let things happen!
Inyala tensed, sensing the tables were turned on her master's creature. That wasn't good news. She made some soft clicking sounds to Ashe, speaking in their language, and the man shook his head and responded in common. "He hasn't lost yet. We'll see." Ghidorah had come back from worse odds, and he had won a tournament before after being defeated. Though Ashe knew they wouldn't win, what with one loss and one forfeit, one match at a time was what mattered to his Sparky.
Hang in there, let your brains stop rattling, then go in for the kill! Ashe thought, trying to be supportive.

Ashe sighed softly with relief. He was proud to see Ghidorah had been able to get high enough off the ground to easily dodge the attack. A pouncing thundergug... what a beast. The very ground beneath him shook with the force of the landing, failed attempt or no. Inyala nearly lost her footing and gave a few indignant, rude sounds toward the cause.
Ashe was already thinking ahead. Though silent on the outside, he'd given the next battle command through their link, and to be honest, Ashe wasnt one hundred percent sure they were safe in the stands. He'd used it before, but there was always a chance, wasnt there? He recalled Inyala to him, and watched as his drake rose higher, spreading his wings and tilting his head back. His roar was triumphant, pleased as punch with himself for keeping out of range of the gig, but the surge of power flowing through him alone was enough to excite him. Even down in the stands, the hair on Ashe's arms stood up. The air crackled with building energy. Ghidorah was calling down his favorite element! The Gug might be fast and light on its feet, but could it outrun lightning? Could its thick skin withstand electricity? They would soon find out.

Across the arena, Aster sighed too, though his was decidedly more resigned. He'd seen Grunty close in, and for a moment it looked as though maybe he would just barely make it... But no, it wasn't going to happen. It was a shame, but Aster had known that it would be something of a long shot.
Still, it wasn't as though Grunty was down for the count by any means, and that meant they'd get another shot at it. For their second attempt, Aster decided not to try anything fancy, and stick to what the 'Gug knew best. [Let's just try bashing 'em this time,] Aster suggested.
Grunty certainly had no objections, and ran for the drake again, building up the momentum he needed to crash into his opponent. Aster could feel the hair stand up on the back of his arms as the air trembled with energy, but it was too late to do anything about that. Whatever it was... He'd just have to have faith in Grunty's ability to take it.
