Please note...- The last date to post your introduction post is the July 22nd. Without an introduction post you cannot battle. - Certain moves can't be used in the Pit because of the surroundings and other moves can affect more than one creature at the same time. After all introduction posts have been posted you will be informed whether those two apply to any of your creatures' moves. - That you have 3 days to post a response to a calculation post and/or roleplay post. The 3 day deadline is not extended if your foe posts after a calculation post. Not meeting the deadline results in an automatic disqualification. - That characters level once every 20 posts in the Fighting Pit, but pets gain levels and loyalty towards their owners normally.

Vidarr didn't take the knock out as hard as Lethalia would have expected; as it were, he seemed to scarcely remember the event. He was so far gone after the first lance of light, whenever the satyr pressed him, it was only the first he could recall. The second, dancing whip of lightning that sapped the last of his consciousness away would be her memory alone to bear.
She still wondered if it might finally give him pause about flying in thunderstorms, as she'd been fruitlessly warning him against since he could fly.
Certainly the pit healers tended to him to the best of their ability, but there were some things that resisted mending. Patches of burnt scale still clung to his left wing and side, with the promise the skin would eventually fall away with enough oiling. Lethalia could hardly walk next to him; contained in the hallway, her drake still stunk of the charred flesh. It would take more than mending and water to wash it away from him.
It was strange, of all things his first loss could have heralded, his vanity was most impacted. |Ugly,| he complained at her, wing extended to look at the still crisp fractals that still danced over his skin.
|Nobody's gonna notice,| she soothed him, smiling to herself in spite of the situation. It would be what she would always love and hate about drakes, or at least about this one; their moods didn't exactly sway dramatically for anything but blood. It was a strange kind of normal to have in her life, but she'll take what she can get a this point. His lack of reaction to the loss gave her something to lean on, try and convince herself her slip-up wasn't a big deal. |You ready?|
|Yes. Just ugly,| he confirmed, leading to a peal of laughter as Lethalia ascended the steps. Yes, she'll take what relief she can get from him before the battle.

The last fight had been a close one. Aster was still thinking about it as they made their way to the Pit for the day's round. It had been a drake that time, a second tier by the looks of the horns, and while they'd had a hard time landing a blow hard enough to fell Grunty, they'd managed to do plenty of damage before Grunty had finally caught them with a well-timed jump.
Grunty wasn't concerned about the specifics, however--- not even when they entered the Pit and saw that there was another drake waiting for them. Aster could guess a little at his logic: He'd caught the last one, hadn't he? What was one more?
Aster sighed. He didn't think this was going to be a straightforward fight either, but well, they were all here. He left Grunty down in the sand and made his way up to the stands, and waited for the proceedings to begin.

Notes
- Vidarr can use all the moves and abilities that he knows.
- Grunty cannot use Dig as there is a thin layer of sand in the Pit.

It'd be a dead lie for her to try and say her heart didn't drop the moment she got to the top of those stairs, a mass of thundergug coming into the field of vision across the pit. It was a shame they hadn't gotten any of the monsters out of the way earlier in the tournament, and Lethalia extended the last of her humor wondering if they might face three in a row.
|So...| Vidarr ventured, unsure of what to ask about what appeared behind the foe's door.
|Yes, that would be what I've been warning you about this whole time.|
|Ah.| So it was, then. It still felt like Vidarr wasn't as flustered as he should have been over the opponent in front of him; she'd thought that at least the sight of something bigger than himself might make the drake think about things for once. It seems more like he's impressed, if anything - but no fear, not even as much curiosity as over the tat-lung. Even the satyr had to eventually admit that if such sense couldn't be spooked into the drake with gug, it was likely never going to settle in. Shame, but perhaps there was hope his daughters were going to be capable of being... tactful.
Vidarr's nostrils flared as he took in the scents of this new giant, absolutely fascinated by this tank of a beast that also smelled of burning. |Fire,| he comments, quickly annoyed at the confused response he gets. |Has. Fire,| the drake grunted again, squaring himself up with a lashing tail as the doors were solidly closed behind the fighters.
|Oh. Thank you.| Then again, he had moments. No reason to deviate from the classics, especially when they've never faced down something of this stature before. "Vidarr, Roar!" There was certainly a hope to maintain a distance from the thundergug as long as they could; it felt like a pretty good chance flames could reach into the skies, though.

[This one...]
Contrary to Aster's expectations, Grunty broke in with a thought as he got a better look at the drake facing him. Aster immediately snapped to attention, wondering if the 'Gug was picking up on something he had missed, some danger that only Grunty himself could sense.
Alas, it was not to be. The comment, when it finally came, was this: [It looks like Avander. Like... rotten fruit, and Avander.]
Aster sighed. Maybe he had been expecting too much. And how did it always come back to food for Grunty? Well, Aster supposed the drakes were both green. He was also curious, a little, what this one's lineage was. There weren't so many pureblooded greens about, but based on the spots, this one had to be related to one.
That was neither here nor there though, and he wasn't curious enough to try and strike up a conversation with the handler once the fight was over, so it wasn't like he was liable to get any answers.
Both of them turned their focus back to the opponent as Grunty caught sight of the drake's movements, but to no avail. Aster recognized that posture, the intake of breath. He could only stand and watch as Grunty flinched from the noise, swinging his massive head back and forth, clearly uncomfortable.

Even after hearing it so many times, Lethalia had to appreciate Vidarr's voice as the final crackling of his roar finished reverberating through the pit. It was still amazing, how it could affect a beast even like a thundergug - it could be assumed even they wouldn't be immune to loud noises, but she wasn't about to think it fact until proven.
"Fly." There was nothing better than a good amount of distance between such a tank and the drake. The point had to be though, to not let Vidarr know that he was being kept at a safe distance - else she'd never get him to cooperate. It was his best defense and could certainly be a boon to be in his element during a fight. She was expecting for some kind of roaring in response, but likely he could get airborne before that happened.
Vidarr was always conflicted about the call to fly rather than attack; leave it to a drake to wish to face down even a 'gug head on. Seconds of conflict eventually gave way to the drake's wings flapping open and snapping down in a single motion, catching the air with a harsh-sounding whipping of sails. The faster he got to the air, the faster he could put his claws to better use.

If there was one thing to be said for having run Grunty through the gauntlet as much as he already had, it was that the Gug recovered quickly. The loud noise was unpleasant, but he had dealt with the like before. As soon as his ears stopped ringing, Aster could feel him settle himself, waiting for a command.
Though, given how many times they'd done this, it wouldn't have surprised Aster if he knew what was coming.
[Alright, now it's our turn. Thunder him down, Grunty,] Aster said. The delay in Grunty's reaction had cost them a little; the drake looked to be preparing to take off, and Grunty wasn't going to be fast enough to interrupt him. Still, maybe they could strike lucky again, and it was definitely going to be easier if they could stun the opponent, even if he was in the air.
Grunty rose up on his hind legs, his front paws raised, preparing to slam them down...

It was lucky that the drake had gotten aloft before the thundergug's feet came crashing down, a thunderous rumble to follow. Something about the noise being fabricated just by the physical crashing of a giant's feet was more comforting than the last time, when the toll had been ripped by some storm divine force. Not that it made the result any different. Vidarr had never experienced being disabled by his opponent until their last fight; the result was jarring enough to make a pause in his wingbeats, the drake falling a stomach-dropping few feet before instincts kicked in and his frozen wings took up the air again.
Lethalia could let out her breath once the forest drake was in the air again, though still recoiling in pain. He'd better have enough of his wits about him to keep high enough in the air, because that was the only tactic he had to keep that hide intact this time.

Aster had just enough warning to brace himself against the crash of the Thundergug's feet as they hit the ground. If he didn't know better, he might have thought the ground had shaken a little bit at the impact. The opponent wasn't so lucky, startled by the force of the noise.
Good. This would afford them a sorely needed opportunity. Of course, the drake still had the advantage of his relative elevation, and even with the opening that they'd created, there was no guarantee that anything they tried would hit home.
Might as well give it everything they had. On the off chance that Grunty only managed to glance the foe, Aster wanted to make it count. He doubted they'd get lucky enough to get in two whole hits with an enemy up in the air.
[Listen carefully. I want you to jump at him--- try to catch him in the air with your paws. But this time, you're going to breathe fire on him too. Think you can do all that?] Aster said.
Grunty hesitated a moment, as likely due to the complexity of the maneuver as anything else. In the end, however, he must have decided to give it a try. Aster watched as Grunty took a run at the drake, building momentum for a hard-won leap, and held his breath, waiting to see if the blow would land true...

Oh gods - as if 'gugs weren't intimidating enough on their own, one using it's entire mass as a battering ram was terrifying. Vidarr was lucky enough to pull himself up from the attack in time, tail lashing out at the massive black paw reaching out for him. What was worse was the gout of fire that came just behind reaching claws and warming Vidarr's back as incentive to get the hell out of there. If nothing else could wake him from a daze, that would do it. Landing brought about a smaller thunderlike crash, and he couldn't help but look blearily down at the giant in the sands. Like usual, the satyr's pretty certain he hadn't a clue about what a hair's breath he'd dodged that attack by.
|Pounce and gust,| she commanded, unwilling to let them slip up again. At least with this much altitude and Vidarr being in better shape, this should work as intended - best to do it now before the drake could get winded. Any sort of blow from the gug would be devastating and yet here she is putting the camo drake even closer to it! Hopefully it would pay off; and there was a chance that Vidarr could stand a hit from a gug-train as much as he could a lightening strike. That was just barely, but even that mattered here.
Vidarr didn't need any further urging to be allowed to actually fight rather than be urged away from the action! Only the bares of pauses to align himself up before wings half-folded to his sides, dropping into the thrill of a steep dive down. At least this one was a big target!

The attack had been impressive enough in form, but the confusion of it had gotten the best of Grunty in the end. He had done as Aster had asked--- jumped, and released a gout of flame--- but the distraction for coordinating the two, combined with the flying target, had been too much. Both attacks fell short, and Grunty landed with a small rumbling impact, his stout tail swinging to one side to counterbalance him as he regained his footing.
Grunty was rounding on the drake as fast as he could, but Aster felt as though time had slowed to molasses. And the drake, as ever, was faster.
Still, it wasn't over. [He's coming at you now. See if you can meet him halfway with a bash,] Aster said. The drake had to get at least low enough to land whatever attack it was planning, and maybe that would make the difference in Grunty's ability to catch this particular airborne foe.
Grunty, already turning, now pushed off with his ind legs, springing into the beginning of another charge...
