Renathan still had about twenty minutes left to wait; and it felt like it was going to take forever. For some reason the world was just turning so slowly for him in his head. He was really tired; he hadn't slept well all night, and his body was beginning to get sleepy since he wasn't actively doing anything at all. He yawned, and then glanced up at the clock, knowing that staring at it would do the opposite of what he was hoping of course; it wouldn't make time go any faster, and worse, he would be aware of time moving by so slowly. Renathan wanted to get this over with; mostly so that he could move. He stood up quietly and stretched, making sure to not be loud at all. He knew that the individual that was working the desk had been super kind to not throw him out and to let him wait, and he wasn't wanting to inconvenience them at all. Still, he was tired and didn't want to fall asleep in the lobby while waiting for the time to pass. At least the orbaru were playing together through the grates in their carriers, so that they would be ready when the time came.

Perhaps all of this orbaru breeding was a good thing; allowing Renathan to have some downtime between his work that he would not always have had he not been doing this hobby... Still, he wanted to have so many different types of orbaru, and there wasn't a whole lot that could be done without breeding. Thankfully, other folks were both interested in breeding orbaru but not as obsessed as he was in general, and that would keep him from having to have so much time waiting in the future in time, he hoped. Still, he wanted as many people to be able to have fancy orbaru as possible, so he was happy to oblige others in their desires to have access to unique orbaru for their breeding projects. Not everyone liked the pastel colors that the basic orbaru came in, after all. He was determined to use his good hand in life to be able to help others in some cases like this one, and this was one of the ways he could do so. Still, Renathan wasn't in the best of places with currency right now, so he should probably calm down and stop spending so much... He thought of this while watching the two orbaru below.

Time was not going to go by any faster, in all honesty, no matter what he did, so Renathan tried not to think about it. He whiled his time away, tapping his toes on the floor and gazing over the two orbaru. He was surprised by how much this pair seemed to like one another; of course Liliana had been in a bad mood at first. She had been quite difficult to remove from her son's presence; since she was so protective of the young orbaru for some reason or another, and once she was in the crate, she had done nothing but make angry orbaru noises (or at least Renathan assumed; he'd never actually heard angry orbaru noises before since they were so docile!) and sighing while laying about. She didn't really begin acting right until he managed to show her the fact that Nyaa was also there, and then she perked right up and seemed to forget about the trouble of being removed from Mochi. Nyaa was certainly an orbaru she liked... Renathan considered taking Nyaa and housing him with Liliana instead of Teddi to get her to calm down some and quit lording over her kid so much...

Perhaps Renathan should start bringing his art supplies with him whenever he came to the breeding center? He needed an excuse to do something or another to keep the time running smoothly. Why hadn't he thought of that today? He had so many pairs that needed working on this month, so of course he would have time to do it in the future, but man oh man was this going to be a mess today. Renathan cradled his head in his hands for just a moment, trying to clear his head. Why is it that nearly every time he came here he wound up having a breakdown of some degree? The good thing was that he was beginning to feel a little better today at least; this bit of a breakdown was super mild compared to some of the others he had recently, and that was a win at least. He was able to steady his breathing a bit and then focus more on the orbaru than anything else. Just thinking of Shy Guy made him feel a little bit ill; and he tried desperately not to do so. The orbaru at his feet were not exactly like any other, but they played like any other.

Renathan attempted to pay more attention to them than his thoughts, but honestly all orbaru played the same. It was quite difficult to find them particularly interesting while they were in the lobby at least. Renathan was indeed partially glad and partially worried about these two playing so much; of course because he knew that they were going to be pretty dang quick and he was going to have to worry about keeping them apart until the best moment... And of course for a little while after the male berry was eaten. Renathan only had three of these; a lucky gift from a... Weird acquaintance? Renathan was always left scratching his head at that one. They had the oddest... Friendship? Perhaps ever, not really friends, but constantly feeling in debt to the other, leaving the other one continuously trying to up-stage the other's gifts... It was a real mess. Renathan wasn't used to dealing with the obviously affluent, despite being such in some forms himself. It was a right mess, after all, and not much could be done about such things. Still, the male berries were appreciated, and the potion was certainly not an amiss gift; just... A strange situation entirely.

The pair of orbaru were having some kind of a game where one would put their paw down, and the other would try to step on it. Renathan watched this mindlessly as he thought. Renathan wasn't sure how to take a lot of the strange things that Pethians in general did; let alone the labs denizens. He didn't know a whole lot about the pale-furred human; save for what had happened since he had met them, and of course what could be observed. Apparently they had eye issues; a good thing that Renathan could use to protect himself in case of a fight, which he had nearly gotten into with the strange human before. He wasn't sure whether their eyesight was worse close up or distanced, perhaps he should have asked the shop owner when he had picked up their prescription... Renathan slitted his eyes as he thought about them; they were both mages, both elementals. He was sure that he was the more skilled of the two, but who would really win in a fight? The human was small, very physically weak, but speedy. Dangerous. Renathan usually distanced himself from danger, but that human was a mess, socially. He was lucky that they hadn't already had a knock-down drag out. He really didn't know how to take them. However; it was his turn to give a gift next... What should it be? He needed something that one couldn't just get anywhere...

Renathan knew that it was a pointless endeavor; the strange pale-furred human would always infinitely try to one-up him, but perhaps he could use that to his advantage? He was not normally one to do such things, but Renathan was beginning to realize that this was an unsustainable situation entirely. "Today..." He murmured, much by accident, as his mind prodded a few ideas. Perhaps he would come out on top of this with something nice. He wasn't sure what to do in this situation, but there were lots of courses to action. It was certainly not born of a lack of options, for certain. He suddenly remembers what he has got going on; he was waiting for the time when the shop here would technically open; ah, five more minutes. Not too bad at all. He was glad that he had been able to stay awake during this; he was actually quite surprised in fact. The two orbaru continued playing their strange paw-step-paw game, and Renathan was watching with... Well, a complete lack of interest to say the least. Renathan was not certain about today, but it needed to be completed as soon as possible... Five more minutes, he told himself.

Those five minutes didn't fail to feel like the longest hour of Renathan's life, if not only because he really wanted to get out of here as soon as possible. So much work to be done, and never enough time. He was going to be so late to work today... He sighed. Finally; the minute hand ticks around to the correct time and Renathan practically leaps up, leaving the two orbaru there to continue playing despite being in separate carriers so that he could get to the front counter hopefully before anyone else was there. He scarcely made it up to the counter whenever another individual burst into the door, nearly slamming it, carrying two orbaru on leashes beneath their arms. Ugh, why leashes when the critters were being carried? That made no sense... Perhaps to better control them on the way home? That made the most sense. Renathan was there First though, and there was nothing this individual could do about it. The mammalian turned around and reached for one of the papers, so that they could get started, and then he opened his mouth in a wordless scream; Someone had stepped on his tail. He turned around, fist balled and antlers smoking.

'Oh, Oh I am so sorry; I didn't mean to step on your tail uh sir!' The individual said, glancing up and down Renathan, perhaps to make 'sure'. Renathan took a breath and unballed his fists. No fist-fights today; not that he'd ever had one since he'd been in the labs. 'It-its just that I don't have a tail and I didn't think about it and and and' The individual was just blabbing on and on. Renathan shook his head. "It's no thing, just... Don't do it again." Renathan wasn't usually this standoffish, but perhaps he was finally letting out a bit of aggression. Renathan turned around, his tails held more tightly against him this time, flicking at the bruised tips. He began working earnestly on the paper, wanting nothing more than to get back there and get his orbaru to do what they were going to do so that he could go home and then go to work. He didn't have time to react too much to his tail being stepped upon. Finally, he finished the paper, glanced over to his orbaru to make sure that they were okay and still playing (they were) and then slid the paper over to the helper.

Renathan turned tail pretty quickly and grabbed a number (rather unsurprisingly; it was one) and then went to go get his orbaru. He knew that any moment now; he would be able to bring his orbaru back and he wouldn't have to deal with anything else. His tails smarted quite a bit, but he wasn't surprised that someone hadn't stepped on his tail since he had been here, honestly. He was a little upset with how he had reacted (I totally could have reacted to that better, Handled that better and all), seeing as most humans were already a little put off by mammalian and other so called 'beastfolk' as they called them, and this would undoubtedly cause the individual to feel that there was a need to fear people like him... Ugh, it was just annoying to have to think about. Renathan was already not really having the best day... He sat back down, holding his ticket and wondering why he hadn't been called back yet as he heard a quiet yelp; it would seem that Liliana had gotten her fur caught in the grate of the carrier. Ah, that was easily remedied. Renathan leaned down to help her get her fur un-caught.

As luck would usually have it, as soon as Renathan had bent down to help Liliana remove her fur from the grate; Renathan was called back to take his orbaru to one of the clean rooms. Renathan sighed as he untangled her fur, more quickly than he normally would. Usually Renathan would have took some time to make sure that he didn't pull on her too hard, but right now they needed to get back before the individual that had stepped on his tail would try to claim their place... Of course the individual might not have done such but Renathan was not really going to trust anyone now the best that he could, he really wasn't feeling like dealing with people while he was so tired. Liliana booped angrily, and Renathan ignored it now that her fur was freed. He got up, pulling both of the carriers up now, and then practically raced down the hallway at the fastest walking speed he could muster. There is just too much to do today to waste any more time than they already had today. Renathan hadn't really been doing all that well today, but it was better than he had been the last few days, at least?

At least it wouldn't be too long today, Renathan told himself. He needed to get this over with and start working on other things that he needed to do; but this was quite important. He wouldn't have time to do any more of these toward the end of the month, so these things had to be done now; preferably. "Alright you two, let's get this over with..." He mumbled at the two orbaru, his tail tips twitching as he went down the hall. He didn't think that they were broken or anything, but man it hurt. Finally he made it to the room that he was lead by the helper into, and he slipped into the room, closing the door behind him just barely before putting down the carriers. He needed to let the female out first; since he was afraid that they were going to finish everything up before he was able to get the berry in them at all... The mammalian bent down and unlatched the grate on her crate to allow her out, and then marveled for just a second at how fast she streaked over to the male's cage and began trying to nuzzle him through the grate.

Well, uh, Renathan still didn't exactly know for sure, out of attempting on purpose NOT to watch, whether orbaru did things one way or another way, but he sure hoped that her nuzzling at him like that wasn't going to spoil the whole breeding entirely; seeing as he hadn't gotten the male berry to her yet... Oh yeah; the male berry! Renathan was so tired he could barely think, and it was showing. The mammalian opened the pouch that he had tied to his waist sash and pulled it out. It could scarcely be called a berry, he figured. It was more like some kind of a strange blue pepper? Didn't smell spicy or anything, so he didn't think it actually was a pepper or anything. Most animals couldn't even eat peppers anyway. Capsaicin was no joke, only certain beings on the planet could even stand to eat them, it was for the protection of the plan after all... There he was lost in his thoughts again. Renathan sighed, and tried to pull Liliana's attention away from Nyaa for a few moments so that he could hopefully get this male berry into her so that the breeding wouldn't be spoiled. Wouldn't that have been a mess?!

Liliana was of course not taking well to the russet mammalian trying to force her away from the male. She had bred before, and was not shy when it came to wanting his attention. Of course, Nyaa seemed quite ready too, desperately trying to get out of his crate to get to her. They had been playing for some time, after all, and they had been bred together last month to great effect... Renathan probably needed to get the two of them housed together, it wouldn't hurt, right? Renathan considered this, and then finally wrenched the very stubborn female toward him and away from Nyaa, much to her horror. She booped at him angrily, and Renathan sort of realized that she was probably the most aggressive acting orbaru he had, other than of course Lazare (who had began kicking recently... Guh) -his male that was now a battle orbaru. Renathan sighed as he offered her the berry, and just like a good orbaru, she took the berry and immediately seemed to forget being angry at Renathan, holding it in her paws and looking at it excitedly. Then, she seemed to catch sight of Nyaa's face; his bright teal to her bright sapphire eyes.

Renathan could tell that before they actually did it; the two of them were going to play nice and share the berry. Liliana sure was quite nice, wasn't she? She was actually one of his stingiest orbaru, but she took so dang well to Nyaa that it was shocking to him. Perhaps it was because he had provided her with kits? That could be the thing. She seemed to thoroughly enjoy being a mother the absolute most out of all of his female orbaru, and perhaps she was 'thinking' that if she was nice to him that he would provide her with another, or more? Renathan wasn't too sure. Orbaru were not the most intelligent creatures, but they were sometimes quite surprising to everyone involved. He had learned that over all of the time that he had been raising orbaru by himself. "Alrighty you two, go ahead and get that eat and I'll let him on out." Thank goodness this was going to happen soon, he was so tired already. The female leaned forward and pulled the berry into two, handing him the second piece. Nyaa took it, and the pair ate the berry, sharing a meal through the grate of the critter crate.
