For some reason, today, Renathan had walked past the park on his way to the breeding center, making his walk there about doubly long. Perhaps it was the stress, perhaps it was the anxiety that was quite newfound, or perhaps it was simple reluctance to actually get to the breeding center and do the typical waiting game. He had a very special pair with him today, anyway, and it was nice to walk Lazare around town, since he was now WAY too big for one of his typical carriers. He was sort of hoping that orbaru did not perform functions the way that other mammaloids tended to; because he was so huge and the female has was bringing today was comparatively tiny. She was in a carrier, of course, despite Lazare being on a leash due to that, and it was not only because she was comparatively small and he liked to keep his orbaru contained if he could. It was also that the female he had today with him was Cinnabon. AKA: The serial ear-puller. She pulled her sisters ears so much that he had to separate them; even though he tended to try to keep siblings together. What a mess!

There were perhaps a lot of things 'wrong' with this breeding to most people. Renathan chose the pairing objectively; he really liked Lazare and hoped to eventually produce an offspring that mirrored him as closely as possible. In order to do this; Renathan was going to Linebreed. Linebreeding was something that was pretty common where he came from with livestock to better the line, reintroduce strong genes, or reinforce desirable traits. For some reason, Pethians were typically against all forms of linebreeding, even in instances where they do nothing negative to the offspring. He'd heard folks keeping extensive lineages of their orbaru; sure he knew which parents made which offspring, typically for the ease of putting ones together that will get along in the mansion. So he knew that Cinnabon was the daughter of Fool, the son of Lazare. Did Renathan care? Well, the answer to that was 'is there a reason to care'? Orbaru were unaffected by inbreeding, so No, in fact, he didn't. However, most would be able to tell that he was probably linebreeding, and honestly, he wasn't looking forward to explaining that mess. So maybe he did take a little longer to get there today, not that it was causing any issues.

Despite the fact that most would probably not be really keen on such an obvious linebreed pairing being chosen; there were several people out there that Renathan was sure wouldn't mind having a crack at some of these special markings that only Lazare seemed to ever pass down. This was only one of several generations he was sure that he would have to linebreed in order to produce even half of what he was really looking for; but it should be quite fine. He didn't mind doing repeat linebreeding in a species in which it didn't really matter to continue to do that with... But still. He knew that there were going to be some orbaru out of this lineage that wouldn't be entirely desirable in his quest. For one; Cinnabon hadn't really come out the way that he had expected. Truthfully, neither her nor S'more were what he was hoping for. He was a bit surprised that the genes had fell the way that they did; S'more looked like mom, and Cinnabon was a really washed out version of her dad, and it was a bit surprising; though her ears were pretty cute. Hopefully, he figured, he could use the only female in Lazare's descendants that looked somewhat like him to good effect here.

The park had been an odd place to walk past. Without an intention of actually going out to train a critter, at all. Perhaps... Perhaps Renathan should go ahead and train that one creature that he was considering training for the Contest Hall? That would probably work quite well, he figured. Of course that creature was quite a troublesome one; a gallor that looked quite like a dog, pretty dang smart one too, with a lot of issues. However, it would be a shame not to put him to some sort of use. Renathan was able to lead Lazare past the park well enough; but not without him conjuring a cake to eat in front of children... Geeze, did he want to make the kids playing in the park envious of the sweets? Renathan shot him a quick withering look, and walked faster. That wasn't fair at all, and he was sure that Lazare did this stuff on purpose half of the time. After passing the park, Renathan was hoping that they would at least get to the breeding center without too much more trouble when suddenly, it seemed, Lazare realized that they were, in fact, here with a female that was ready and all.

That was always trouble; especially with a literal seven-foot tall monstrosity of a creature. Renathan sighed, softly, and tried to hold the female gently in both arms to keep her from being harassed prematurely by Lazare. The creature was huge now and honestly more than a little dangerous, but thankfully Lazare was quite loyal to Renathan at least, to keep from being too annoying. They scooted the rest of the way past the park and toward the breeding center; soon enough it was well within sight. The mammalian couldn't be more pleased; he had figured at first that the walk would be nice, but found quite quickly that Lazare was definitely a lot more difficult now that he was a battle orbaru. Perhaps that hadn't been the best idea that Renathan had ever come up with, but ah well. He was definitely Renathan's favorite male by far, at least for now. Hopefully things would continue to go well with him, despite this rather difficult situation that the mammalian had put them through. This wasn't the last pair he was going to be working on this month either, despite the fact that he might not have time to get the last one done. He needed to be expedient.

The female that Renathan was bringing today was a mess and a half. Her awful attitude was something that Renathan hoped was just unique to her and not genetic, but it was very possible that it was some sort of defect. Lazare had always been a little trouble maker, Fool and Laharu were also messes, and now here was Cinnabon being an absolute nightmare... It seemed that a lot of the orbaru that took after Lazare tended to have attitude issues. Even Peachie and Sugar had some rather strange eccentricities. Renathan hoped that this wasn't something that was attached in some way to the red-panda marks... That being said; he hoped that Cinnabon and Lazare would not get in some kind of fight, it was very possible of course, but not something that Renathan would be really proud of at all. He was sure that the Breeding Center staff would have his head for such things... That would be a horrible problem. Renathan was sure that he could at least control Lazare, even if Cinnabon might be a bit of an issue. Cinnabon's ear pulling thing seemed to be more of a compulsion; especially with lower ranking females from what Renathan could tell.

Renathan had been spending a lot of time trying to figure Cinnabon out, but she had thusfar been quite reluctant to actually try to bond with Renathan at all. Perhaps it would take some extra time; and Renathan did not have a lot of that, admittedly. She was nice at least, and a female with the red panda markings from Lazare's lineage, so that was all Renathan really needed he guessed. He wasn't 'best friends' with all of his orbaru, or really even half anyway; which was something that Renathan was upset about. He really needed to think about working with more of them moreso, instead of just practically hoarding a billion and one orbaru. That could wind up spelling trouble for him in the future, at least. He already had a few that he didn't know whether he was ever going to breed or not. Some of them were certainly not his absolute favorites. Renathan makes his way to the front door quietly, and then realizes that he was going to have a difficult time actually getting through the door with the pair. He had the female in a carrier in both arms, and the male of course was on a chain and leash combo that he was holding on one hand... Huh.

Renathan stared the door down a bit, eyes slitted, wondering if they were going to manage to get this dang thing open ever, when someone came up behind them. "Oh, uh, I can't really open the door for myself, would you mind holding it open for me?" Renathan was often this polite; perhaps things were beginning to go back to normal to some degree in Renathan's life? He wasn't really feeling completely back to normal yet, but this felt like a pretty regular social interaction. The individual hardly gave him a look but did indeed open the door for him thankfully, so he was able to use his foot and toes to hold the door open the rest of the way for himself so that he could wrangle the two orbaru (or rather, the really big one) into the door. Renathan went to look at the individual with a thankful expression and say thanks; but the individual never turned to look at him. Oh, well, that was okay. That was just the first time in a while that Renathan felt like having a normal polite conversation with someone since... Since the pit thing. Ah well, there was another really big line here this month, and he wasn't surprised.

A quick sigh passes Renathan's lips before he moves forward, letting the door swing closed behind him, and he steps back into line behind the person that held the door open for him. He wasn't even upset about it or anything since the individual did, after all, perform a kindness for him by opening the door for him of course. Renathan stood there with his (much taller than himself) orbaru standing there. He commanded lots of attention just by the merit of his height and his strange coloration. Many people looked at him rather disapprovingly, if only because battle orbaru were not really safe... They could be bred of course, but they were far more aggressive than perhaps they had to be, for sure. Renathan didn't 'have' to bring Lazare in here like that, let alone with hardly anything to hold him back save for a chain. However, Renathan wasn't about to be cowed by those disproving eyes, for sure. Others had bred battle orbaru before, and Renathan wasn't about to tuck his tails between his legs and scoot off over a few people afraid of a battle orbaru. However, this line was going to be long... Renathan sighed. He just didn't have a lot of time to do this in, not really.

He hoped that they would get in there easily enough without too much waiting. He already had it at this point, with Lazare's attitude earlier, but the things that Renathan would go through for his goals were pretty extreme it would seem... He didn't think he'd leave today, he'd just call in to his shop and let them know that he was going to be late. He needed to get these two bred, and hopefully the next pair as soon as possible. He just had so much to do this month; and he was hoping to get two more pairings done after this one, even, and already had a ton of pairings planned next month. Geeze, is this what Renathan's life had become? He had to really look down at his feet on that one. Had he really planned for this? He hadn't thought about this much, but it was beginning to sort of take over his life, hadn't it? Renathan couldn't help but cast his eyes across the room, thinking about the general group here. Yeah, that was a lot of people. There was no way that this was going to be done in a timely manner. Great, that was just what he wanted.

He glanced over Lazare for a moment, still not quite used to him being seven-feet tall and a giant monster of a creature with... Tiny unusable wings, of course, instead of a small cute little tumbley dood. Well, that was fine, Renathan figured. He hadn't had a battle orbaru, and once he was given the potion, he could certainly use it to get one. Lazare had been the right choice, the logical choice, he felt. Lazare was one of the easier ones to control, after all, at least. Renathan told himself that again, to remind himself not to be too upset at his choice. It was still the best one, even if he had some small regrets in passing. Like the way that half of the room was cleared toward the back, moving a bit, to keep his male presumably away from their precious little pastel females. Renathan didn't deal in pastel or primary colored orbaru, anyway, so they didn't have to worry about it. He wasn't an irresponsible owner, but he was going to breed this battle orbaru no matter what anyone else said. As long as he took to Cinnabon, anyway. Lazare had been paying most attention to her, over this time, anyway.

Renathan had just barely been able to keep Cinnabon in her carrier in both arms away from the curious Lazare. Because Renathan perhaps was not quite as knowledgeable about how the actual 'process' was supposed to go save for the flashes, he was a bit worried about Lazare getting to the female before the berry was administered and 'time' came. It was important for them to be in the room, at the very least, so Renathan couldn't just let them shack up before the entire time was ready. Renathan knew that orbaru were better breeders when they got to spend some time together, and the carriers did not seem to keep that from procing, at least. That was a good thing for certian, because Renathan knew that the breeding center was so packed lately that he would not have gotten the time to get any of his pairs thusfar bred if that was not the case. It was a big mess, and he hoped that it would become slightly less popular soon so that he wouldn't have to deal with that much longer. Cinnabon was clawing at the sides of the box, or rather 'pawing' at it, trying to get to the male. It was annoying frankly.

Luckily for the mammalian, today did not seem to be a headache day, and he felt quite lucky due to it. He also hadn't panicked yet today, which was good. He was slowly learning to take a bit of a stock with himself to figure out how he was doing. Shy Guy's recovery was beginning to gain steam as well; Renathan had been able to get him to let him ride him around the yard yesterday, which was a blessing from the Leys, certainly. Renathan had to leave right after that, because he cried. Pretty dang hard too, it felt like a dam had finally broke somewhere in his chest, in his head. He didn't want to be around Shy Guy when he broke, so he made sure to be as far away as he possibly could before he finally hit the ground. Shy Guy undoubtedly still felt it, Renathan knew, but hopefully it was dulled by the distance. Of course, Auburn had been with him and she'd caught the brunt of the emotional backlash... But Renathan wasn't panicking about it, not right now. Instead, he was trying to keep Lazare pushed back away from the female Cinnabon when they were waiting in line at least.

It didn't keep the two of the orbaru from finding some way to 'play' a game of their own choosing. Renathan was always baffled with the orbaru need to 'play'. It was always a strange thing to see, these creatures needed to play with one another like other creature's needed to hunt it would seem. If Renathan wasn't around to feed them, they would surely starve to death, Renathan was sure. Renathan wasn't so sure about Lazare, of course, since he could make his own food, but Renathan didn't really know what to think about him honestly. He didn't think that the food that he could conjure, namely cakes, was good for him at all, but so far it hadn't given him any kind of odd side effects. That was disturbing, of course, Renathan would rather believe that if there was a bad thing that he could see because then he would know what was going on with it instead of being baffled. Generally, no news was good news, but Renathan didn't want to assume that this was the case with one of his creatures' health. The pets that the labs gave out were sometimes quite difficult to care for, and Lazare was no different.
