Renathan had been pretty shocked when he had learned that they had won the contest. Of course, he believed quite strongly that Auburn was absolutely beautiful, but he was surprised to see so many people agree. He adored her, of course. He'd been able to get enough points to buy a couple of the things that he wanted from the Contest Hall shop; including the quite beautiful comet orbaru; or at least a male one. Renathan really only had enough points for one or the other. He'd almost gotten himself a cocoa male as well; but he'd decided to wait on it, because he had the perfect female for a male comet. Renathan was able to do two more breedings this month thanks to Morgan's gift; and after a bit of consideration, he decided to put off breeding Enabi and Stormie this month in order to breed this pair. He figured that having a few more dark orbaru, as he didn't have a lot of them... Renathan brought the pair with him to work, keeping them separated, but as soon as it was time to go to the breeding center, Renathan scooped them up and held one under each arm. They would figure out that they were both there sooner or later.

Renathan really needed to get a move on; he knew. He was quickly running out of time this month to get this stuff done; and he still had this pair and a whole other one that he needed to work on! What trouble! The mammalian made his way to the breeding center relatively quickly, but soon figured out that he was going to have to take a completely different route. The road that he normally took across town from his work had some sort of work going on to it; a little odd, but whatever. He decided to cut through the park to get there as quickly as possible. Thankfully, it would seem that Mabon and Sirius both had much more manners than Lazare had, that last breeding. He was glad, at least, because it was exhausting to have to deal with his antics. Perhaps it was nigh time that he began training Lazare? Orbaru would undoubtedly be difficult at best to train, and he had so many that needed that attention. For now, however, he needed to worry about Mabon and Sirius. They were both special creatures, needless to say, having come to him at a great cost a piece, or that was what it felt like to him, at least.

As soon as Renathan had heard about these two orbaru colors, he knew he had to both have them and breed them. He knew that it would be super neat to see what comes out of them. More like the mother? More like the father? Who really knew. Sometimes the babies were a near perfect mix a piece, and sometimes one would look more like one parent, and the other more like the other. Only a few times before had Renathan received two offspring that looked more like one parent than the other. Renathan had not worked with the original v1 orbaru before much; so it was interesting seeing the difference with these, at least. Orbaru v1 had much shorter ears as fully mature individuals, with larger hind legs per body size, from what he could tell. All of them had little scruffs on their head; and their eyes tended not to have incredibly dark pupils in comparison to similarly colored ones of the v3 variety. In Renathan's opinion, the tails weren't nearly as pretty on the males; well, the orbs anyway. They looked a tad strange and not nearly as vibrant, but Renathan loved how cute they looked without looking too garish.

Of course, Renathan was a huge fan of nearly every sort of orbaru, but the v3s tended to have ears that were long enough to step on; and they did tend to hurt their ears sometimes, or at least his did anyway. v1s did not at all get long enough ears ever to cause that sort of issue, luckily. Renathan had spent quite a bit of time watching all of his orbaru play and figuring them out, of course, so he knew that the v1s were at least somewhat more physically capable than the latter ones. Renathan continued to move toward the breeding center, wishing that he had gotten there already. He could tell that Mabon and Sirius were now watching each other through the slats in the sides of the critter carriers; because he could hear them beginning to 'communicate'. Well, if one could call it that; the incessant booping that tended to occur when two orbaru were brought near one another. Renathan wasn't a hundred percent sure if they should be considered truly social creatures, but they loved to play with one another and everyone else that was around, so that had to count for something. This pair was no different.

Mabon had been bought with a male counterpart; one that Renathan had named Beltane. Renathan actually never planned to breed the two together; he knew that they would probably just make more Rainbow Ribbon orbaru, and he already had himself a pair, right? Sure, he could try to breed as many of them from other breeds as possible, but Renathan wasn't too interested in that. The male was kinda pretty, but he'd been stunned by the sunset-colors of the female. It was pretty much the opposite in all of that for the comet orbaru; when Renathan had learned about them, the male stuck out to him harshly. The females were pale, and that was pretty in it's own way, making the starry markings show up well. The deep navy of the male was even better; it made the shimmery parts really delicate looking, just hardly peeking out over the fur. That was an incredibly pretty coloration in his opinion, even moreso than the others he could have gotten this month at the Contest Hall. He was proud of entering the contests. Perhaps, with luck, he would manage to get a few more points this month? He had his eye on that cocoa male.

That being considered, Renathan just knew that Mabon and Sirius would make some gorgeous offspring, thanks to this baby berry he had brought today. Renathan just knew that the pair would produce something really special. Renathan was hoping for a charcoal black baby with those pretty starry marks... He hoped he wouldn't have to breed the pair too many times in order to get that, but hey, if he did, it wouldn't hurt anything. He just wasn't going to have a whole lot of time to do these in the future... He was going to have to pick his pairs even more carefully than he had before. Renathan sighs, just barely making it to the edge of the park by the time he was already starting to get a bit frustrated. It was hot out today, and later on during the morning, getting towards the hottest part of the day. He wished that the road hadn't been blocked that he normally went down, because he had not at all been planning on going out in the heat for too long today. He was more worried about the two orbaru's tolerances to heat today, and not his own of course. He hastened towards the breeding center, listening to the pair booping.

Well, at least they seemed to be getting along? Neither of these two were making noises that sounded like they were angry. Recently, Renathan had figured out what an actual angry orbaru noise sounded like, and he was super surprised to have heard it to begin with. The past few breedings he had worked on were just baffling to him; so many of his orbaru defied the typical 'playful derps' assumption that many people had about orbaru. Almost all of his original ones were playful and kind, but some of his that he had bred were a bit aggressive. It was a mess, to say the least. He wondered if perhaps it was his tendency to try to breed for coat colors above all else, or perhaps it was simply because his favorite orbaru were the ones that stood out, and a lot of the behaviors that he found the cutest and oddest tended to show at least some base level of aggression at their beginnings. Renathan couldn't help but think about that, as he began closing the gap between himself and the breeding center. This pair seemed sweet enough, so perhaps with luck; they would have some calm and happy little babies.

Renathan could hardly wait to see what all of his orbaru had in store for him in the future, but in all honesty he needed to thin out his flock. Some of them he just knew he would never breed. It was a real shame, but he knew that someone would use them, surely. The mammalian felt uncomfortably hot; normally his dark fur helped to protect him during the heat, but the strange temperate climate of the Labs often caused issues with that. In his homeland, he was used to hot and mugginess. In the desert on the way here, he was used to hot and dry. This place was much worse than either one of those things, as it often slid between the two and was just uncomfortable all the time without Renathan being able to become used to it. It wasn't easy on his fur either, which slid between slick and uncomfortable to dry and prone to breaking. It took lots of care to keep himself taken care of due to it, a big mess. Today was no different; and he could even hear the little orbaru pair panting in their carriers. Yeah, this was a mess. He hadn't planned for this today.

After a moment of exhausted power-walking in an attempt to get there faster without jostling the pair in their individual critter carriers too much. He didn't need to be out in the heat for any longer than he had to be, for sure, and the poor orbaru pair were used to Air Conditioning too much to really deal with this heat in the manner a lot of other creatures may be able to. "Poor critters..." He mumbled to himself, feeling particularly like a bad owner, and then he caught sight of the breeding center. Undoubtedly, when he got in there, he wasn't going to get into the line right away. Renathan was going to have to hunt around for some cool water dishes for the two orbaru, and he would probably need to let them get out of the carriers as well... He normally didn't allow orbaru out in the lobby at all out of fear that they'll breed to quickly, but as overheated as they seemed to be, he doubted that they would do much attempting while they were cooling down. He felt a bit bad about it, of course, but the breeding center was in sight now.

After a bit of a half-jog, feeling like getting the orbaru pair cool was more important than not jostling them even in the slightest. Perhaps he was wrong, but either way he could get them into the building and then worry about what was going on, for sure. His palm is on the door's handle before he even knows it, and he pushes open the door despite having a bit of difficulty with it. At least it wasn't as hard as it had been the previous breeding, he thinks, with Lazare. He'd done so much work this month already and he wasn't even near done with it. At least it was worth it, he figured, little Kingfisher wasn't exactly what he had been looking for but she was beautiful all the same, if not a little strange... Renathan pushed open the door and then slipped inside the breeding center, immediately by-passing the line to go off to the area he knew had a few extra pet bowls that could be filled with water nearby. Someone looked like they were going to stop him at first; not realizing what he was doing. However, they let him pass when they realized how hot the poor orbaru looked in their carriers.

"Don't worry, I'm just going to poor them some water and get them out of the carriers... And sit them down." The mammalian said beneath his mask to the individual, not paying a whole lot of attention to them in all honesty. Renathan tended not to give passing glances to too many people. He wasn't rude, and he wasn't mean, but he didn't really work under the usual Labs rules for politeness either, even though he was learning about the intricacies still. He'd only been in the labs for a certain amount of time, after all, and it wasn't really all that long of a time period. Renathan quickly poured two cool bowls of water, and then gently opened the two carriers; not even paying attention to the folks in the line or in the waiting room. Mabon moves out of the carrier quickly enough, immediately trying to drain her own water bowl. Sirius was a bit more overheated, Renathan thought, so he gently coaxed him out and towards the water bowl. He took cold packs and then placed them up under the creatures. He was glad that the breeding center helpers expected this sort of thing in the summertime, for whatever reason.

Renathan made sure that the ice packs were placed just so, ever so carefully, so as not to give them system shock. After making sure that they would be fine (thankfully, they weren't too far along) Renathan sighed. This was the first time he had this much difficultly in all honesty, breeding orbaru. Sure, he'd had other difficulties before, but none of them came this close to actually being a problem. Lazare was still nursing his ears, and well, Liliana now had two sons instead of one to annoy the ever-loving ears out of, which was a mess. Renathan was hesitant to fix the issue with Liliana, because he didn't think she'd do well without her sons... However he fixed the issue with Lazare immediately; after he made sure that Cinnabon was healed up from her kit-having, she was rehomed. Renathan felt like it was absolutely necessary, for her to be homed without other orbaru. She was just too aggressive. Renathan gently petted the two orbaru he had now, drinking the water slowly and laying on the cooling rags. Well, at least the poor critters would be fine, and hopefully he would still be able to get them to breed today? Was that even a good idea at this point?

There was only so much that Renathan could do to get the pair fixed up for now. He finally leans back on his toes a bit and then glances behind him. A few people weren't paying any attention to him, having conversations and waiting and the like. Some of the people out in the waiting room were watching him warily; some of them with ice packs of their own with their orbaru. That was good, at least, that Renathan wasn't a complete failure in taking care of his beasties today; this was the closest he'd come of having difficulty with his critters in a long time, not counting Shy Guy; which he was still very anxious about. Renathan forced himself not to think of him too much; his mind keeps going back to the moments after the creature was felled; it made him sick. He swallowed thickly, and then put his hand gently on Sirius' back. "You okay, little fella?" He finds himself saying, not quite realizing until it was too late that it wasn't just left in his mind. "Goodness, you two, we may have to wait here today until it cools down a bit..." Perhaps it was a bad idea, bringing them out here in the hottest part of summer.

Of course, Renathan knew that the building he came from, and the building he was now in, were both relatively clinical and air-conditioned. He wouldn't have brought any of his creatures out to train today, in example. However, he did manage to mess it up anyway, not knowing that his usual street was going to be blocked off, after all. He worried his lip a bit, thinking, kneeling there in the floor next to the pair of dark colored orbaru, one glowing quite brightly. He sighed, and then glanced over at the line. That was going to be a nightmare, but he couldn't even bother to worry about that while he had two orbaru here that almost had heat strokes just a moment or two ago. After a few more moments, a breeding center helper seemed to come out from the back of the center, where the rooms were. Perhaps they had just finished cleaning one of the rooms? As soon as they noticed Renathan kneeling with his two orbaru, the breeding center helper rushed back to the back. Renathan stared after them for a moment, curious. Were they going to go grab a vet to give them a check up? Renathan was worried.
