Wandering off into the distance, absolutely alone seems like a great idea, right? Allo was completely unarmed, had not even a pencil to his name and no creature - not even a wild beast - to wander beside him. And yet he still chose to make his way towards the outskirts of the city and beyond where he had heard rumour that there were treasures to be found and valuable objects to collect. After all, for a man on his own so far from what was once home he would eventually need to pay for something to eat and some kind of shelter. If that meant wandering into potentially dangerous areas in search of nothing more than a few scraps of tin which he could maybe trade for a cold sandwich and a cardboard box to keep the brunt of wind and rain off of his head.
This must be it - the path he had bee wandering was smoothing out and showing all the signs of being well worn, well-traveled. If he wasn't careful, he would get his feet caught on the edge of a tread. Time to look for a place to explore that perhaps hadn't been touched too much before him.

"You know.... I wish you'd tell me one of these days where we're going," she muttered as she hauled the cart behind her, trying to keep up with the purple glow that was her gargoyle. Goran glanced back and she swore he smirked somehow around his beak, but there was no way to prove it before he turned back again. He had caught an unknown scent, and while he was usually called in by stones, gems, and crystals, something about this one drew him in. It had been awhile since the woman had mined with someone else, he knew, so it would be a good thing for her to explore the mines with someone else at her side. Pausing, he sniffed the air before halting in front of someone, sitting down and tilting his head, completely silent. "Goran!" she snapped as she rounded the corner of the trail to the mines, seeing him sitting in front of someone she didn't recognize, at least from the back. "I'm sorry, I swear he knows what he's doing..." Jack muttered as she reached the pair, cart full of equipment behind her.

Just before he was going to begin heading into the cave - perhaps a very foolish decision, considering he lacked any supplies whatsoever. Not even a match to light a torch or to provide its own light. The only chance he really had of being able to see anything was his own natural ability to see in the dark. He was hoping that the idea of a cave providing no natural light at all wouldn't be quite true. But now there was a creature in his path, quite unlike any he had ever seen before.
It did not seem to be hostile, quite the opposite, in fact. Allo wasn't quite sure how to tell what the creature wanted, so he took a step backwards in attempt to be able to see it a bit more clearly only to find that he was surrounded. A trap? He turned on his heel quickly, raising his hands up, palms exposed, in a gesture of surrender.

"Oh no, no worries," Jack said hurriedly, coming to stop beside the man and glared at the gargoyle, "I was just coming down to mine with Goran here, is that what you're doing?" It occurred to her he might not understand, and frowned a little, "Common?" Just in case, considering she'd not met this guy before. She tilted her head a little and then nodded at the mines, "Wanna come?" She moved a little to stand next to Goran and patted his head, not meeting his gleaming, proud eyes for a moment, he was way too proud of himself at the moment, she knew that much, but there was nothing she could do about that as of yet. Jack pushed her hair back and then shook her head a little with a low chuckle, patting Goran's head one last time before glancing back up at him. She awaited a response, she could speak most languages there were in the Labs at least, they had to be able to talk somehow.

"Yes."
There was hesitation before he answered, just enough to be noticed. His hands quickly found another place to be hidden: in his pockets. For the time being, he had nothing to do with them, after all.
"Yes, I can speak Common." Clarity is always a bonus when trying to introduce yourself. "I have never been to mine before. Is very dangerous? Seems best no to be alone with many places around Labs." It was fairly clear that Common was not his first tongue, given his less than stellar grammar and mild fumbling for a word choice, like he didn't have a fully complete vocabulary. When it comes time to discuss things with a bit more complexity, he was going to be stringing more simple words together.
"I have no tools. I was to only explore, maybe get luck with small item. You do not mind companion here?"

Jack perked up when he started talking, it was obvious that Common wasn't his first language, but he picked it up well enough it seemed. She grinned a little and nodded, "Yeah, I don't mind! Come on, we'll see what we can find. I'm Jack, this is Goran." Jack gestured toward the gargoyle who was sniffing at the ground a little, already hot on the trail of something new. Chuckling, she took a better hold on the wagon behind her and nodded at the man again, "Go ahead, you can follow Goran and I'll follow you with the wagon. I've got all my tools in there and everything, and the light hooks on to the outside of the wagon, as you can see." Smiling, she started to haul the wagon behind her a little before waiting for him to move, "We'll split the finds, I don't really need all that much, really, and it'll help you get started if you don't have anything."
