What an unusual thing. Before Flare had a chance to ask what he had just signed for, the courier had left, quickly at that. What an unusual paleskin. Absentmindedly scratching around his left antennae-horn, the drake crouched on one knee to examine the carrier. Round lavender eyes stared back at him. Whatever was inside this carrier, was alive! He'd just signed for a live creature. Why would someone send him a live creature out of the blue? Those eyes didn't look pachee related, as he leaned towards the carrier, the end of his snout almost brushing the door. {What is this?} he asked himself aloud, noticing the piece of paper slipped into the outer edge of the carrier. Picking it out carefully with sharp clawed fingers, Flare unfolded the paper carefully, reading the common words slowly.
"My name is Cinnabon; I am a serial ear puller. Please take care of me." Ear puller? And what is a Cinnabon? 1

A serial ear puller? What did that mean? Flare could see the creature shifting around inside the darkened carrier, nosing around the bedding inside. That seemed to be a thing here; the Genevians would part with their beloved monsters here in new Pethia for coin or for a problem with their stock. This creature must be a problem stock. He didn't know. Nor did he want to know. Just left him with another creature to care for, which he had no idea just what it was yet. The drake set down the carrier on the ground beside him. When he opened the cage though, the creature sprang from it, the power of its hind limbs kicking the carrier off of the side, drooling out bits of bedding and a spitting water bottle. The creature resembled a prey animal, on all fours. Brown body with black limbs and belly. Accented with a white head crown and ear fur near the inner ear and tips, and dark brown stripes going up its tail. Very fluffy. 2

They weren't common in Tumai, rabbits. Seen in picture books or their hides and/or feet sold by merchants in the market. Exceptionally soft fur. This creature appeared to look like a rabbit, but didn't... at the same time. Rabbits by picture books had short cottonlike tails. This creature sported a long fluffy tail. Ears were longer too. It stretches out on all fours, belly fur dragging on the ground a bit. Flare just stares at the thing. He's at a loss of what to think about it. Foiled at her own game! The ear pulling wasn't supposed to be mean, really! But one too many ears pulled on her sisters and brothers found her scooped up, carrier'd and taken away from home. The orbaru found herself free not too long later, springing out of the carrier. She could hear it clatter to the side behind/beside her. Good riddance. Hated that carrier. 3 20.20 lv 32 Flare

When the creature turned towards him, the light caught its lower fur a bit nicer then previous. Not black, as the ssa had originally seen; but a dusty dark gray color. Brown and gray, almost the color of a dog. But this creature looked nothing like a canid animal. Very passive, in his opinion. and likely not going to be an issue... right? Wait a minute. Wait one minute, this wasn't the plush of home. One time she'd been teasing S'more into a corner, one paw on her ear like a leash, next she's in a carrier, and going to a big room that smelled of lots of orbaru. Only to be let out and she got into an ear pulling with a monster or an orbaru (monster tall!). Must've fallen asleep after that, but a bellyache later she found herself here! Where was here? The little silky had no clue. But when she looked around, there was a GIANT MONSTER! 4

Here's the thing about orbaru; they aren't rocks. They are not smart as your dog, true. But they do act mostly on instinct. Probably a few of them are very clever in their own ways. Opinionatedly the little fluffy one could be that. But put one who's a. not great with animals that aren't plants and b. having no idea what to do with a creature who probably could chew his face off? Not such a good idea in the long run. Wait, thats wiurn. Not that Flare had an idea what a wiurn was. But he wasn't an idiot on seeing the big lavender eyes get bigger on seeing him and his ugly snouted face. Not much he could do on the face part; that was attached. Don't ask how he knew that. Cinnabon's fur, usually very fluffy and primped from all the grooming silkies do to themselves, flattened a bit at the sight of the giant monster. He smelled of dirt and was very tall. Was the monster going to eat her? Smelled male. Don't ask how she knew that; only male she'd ever smelled smelled like cakes of all things. What even is a cake?! 5 ^

Out of the corner of her eye, she spots it. Another orbaru outside the plot fence, slowly hopping her way down the cobblestone street. Yes, something familiar! She knew exactly what to do with orbaru. Before the monster could attack, Cinnabon sprung up, over the fence, and started off after the other orbaru. In pursuit, she ran over all the things she wanted to ask and tell this orbaru. Moved kinda slow for Smore as she kept moving at a pretty quick pace. Well shoot. 'Good going' Flare hissed to himself, wincing with a slight swipe of his tail to his good ankle. 'Now its escaped.' Should've put 'I run away if you let me' on the label too. Granted, the walls weren't designed to keep hoppers in, just as a decorative marker. He could step over, the baakir that still walked wild could step over, heck he thought even the pachee could climb over if so inclined. They weren't. He had to go get that creature before she hurt herself. 6

The Orbaru she was following wasn't the injured one, but keep trying to catch her! It's not good if you lose an animal the first day you have her.

Flare did not answer when he heard whooping laughter behind him as he awkwardly climbed over his fences to go after the wayward silky. Didn't turn around, didn't react. Just a slight warmth at the tips of his webbed ear flaps. It wasn't an uncommon thing to have an unruly creature; and a runaway at that. But at least he wasn't trying to follow it through the marketplace. Plenty more places to hide and such. And it had some speed where as the ssa had not much. The crutch didn't allow for any sort of running, and neither did a short leg, darn it. A literal sitting reptile if in trouble and needing to run. Come back! The silky went after the orbaru with nothing in mind but winning. She'd win, be on top, and her owner would get her, and everything would be ok. Right? Or or... maybe the big big monster-bu would come back too. Wouldn't be terrible. 7

Creatures with agility vs a crippled ssa definitely held an advantage over him. The crutch felt like it was biting into the pit of his shoulder, even lined with lined scales beneath the arm. Unused to running in general, Flare had to stop, to pause to catch his breath. It wasn't a hot day, thank anything, or at least not a hot day yet. He'd be in real trouble then. Leaning heavily on his crutch, the ssa stood there and breathed heavily. It pulled at a stitch in his side, the one on the side of his body with the big gash in his face. Ow. But he wasn't a quitter. It didn't hurt. His clawed hand gripped tighter on the crutch in determination. Aha, there she was! Cinnabon dropped to all fours, and went even faster. Practically bowling over the orbaru in front of her. This one was pretty small to her in comparison. Flattened. 8

CAUGHT! The stray found herself flattened without warning. By something much bigger then she was. Only two events played parts in her instinct right now; fight or flight. This thing had a firm hold on her ear too, digging in and giving it a sharp yank. Oh no you did-n't. Fight it is. The thing that caught Flare out of his regaining of breath was an outright shriek of pain not far away. Practically screaming. Great. Now something was eating something else out here. He had to keep going. Find the fluffy thing, get it back to the garden, and back in its cage. Build taller fences. Triumph. She won. She sat on the other's belly, giving it a pull every now and then. I win, you listen to me. But the silky did not predict what happened next. A growl rippled through the creature she sat on, and it lunged. 9

Orbaru for any other person in Pethia are seen probably as stupid little housepets designed to teach children how to feed something alive that wasn't themselves. No wait, thats chiramites. No, orbaru fit. Thing is, they have evolved over the years. Granted, a nice 'outing' doesn't guarantee a good looking offspring; every now and then there were blobs still. But they've evolved, and with that, may be slightly smarter then people think. Flare made it down the road before finding himself at the opening of an alley, the source of the high pitched screaming. Two orbaru wrestled on the ground before him, one significantly smaller then the wayward one he'd been chasing, who was indeed involved. The small one had its mouth, its teeth, firmly attached to her jaw. Screaming, the other rabbit thing out of her elment and suddenly in pain! He wouldn't stand for that. A growl rippled in his throat as he voiced an audible, loud, snarl. 10 ^

The stray saw the giant lizard monster first, still set on freeing herself from the attacking silky. Still with her teeth firmly latched on. Then it roared. Time to run! It took kicking the other orbaru back to remove her- ow! Bad choice. But life vs being eaten, she chose life! And fled. The silky on the other hand, hadn't been honing those survival instincts out here in the city; no, she had a plush life at home with an owner who fed her, plenty of brothers and sisters to 'play' with, and no worries about fighting or eating or whatever. She kept up the howling cry, pawing at the painful object still attached. The orbaru she could barely see had fled. Coward. She was in too much pain to realize there was a giant monster here too, probably going to eat her now. No, it hurt, it hurt it hurt! 11

It wasn't easy to see why the strange longhaired rabbit thing was in such loud pain from this angle. Still blocking most of the alley, Flare hobbled in after it. It was sitting, howling and pawing at its face. Great, too small to really reach from this height. The drake found himself forced into stooping, placing his crutch on the ground, and taking a seat. At least getting off his bum limb. Alright, lets see what's wrong with you. He reaches for the creature, and surprisingly grabs it without initial fuss. Its too busy shrieking and screaming and making a hell of a noise. Making his ears ring a bit. But turning the creature around, he found the source of discomfort. The other had left one of its teeth lodged in their face. A very flat looking tooth, at that. He took hold of it, and pulled. With his own strength, the tooth came free with not much more then three pulls. The creature shrieked. 12

The tooth itself wasn't terribly worn down, but about as long as his pinky finger claw. An expert tracker or hunter or handler might be able to tell what age, what health, whatever from a single tooth but not the drake. He discarded the tooth without a second thought; he had no need for a tooth. Had plenty much sharper ones. The rabbit creature's cries were starting to simmer down as it felt the area with a dusty, now bloody paw. Not in the worst condition, and not bleeding to death either. He looked away from the crying rabbit down the alley. For humans, it was very dark between two buildings; not for him, nice broad daytime. Every now and then, he would see something with a long tail dart out of another corner. Or an ear. Were there more of those rabbit things? Why was the long furred one chasing them? 13
