Shifting Kingfisher's crate over allowed for Renathan to be able to manage to get the door open, despite Lazare being a dang mess. Finally, Renathan was able to get Lazare away from the door, to keep him from closing it by accident. Finally, they were all inside, and the door was closed behind them. Renathan's eyes adjusted to the dimmer lights within the building than without, and he saw that a lot of folks were glaring at him. Not that it bothered him entirely, really, Renathan was starting to get used to getting glared at. He wasn't particularly the most popular person. That and no one that brought in a battle orbaru on the regular basis that Renathan did were considered popular by the standards of the breeding center denizens. Battle orbaru were generally considered too dangerous on the whole to really sit in the waiting room too often, and it didn't really surprise Renathan that most of the time, they tended to let Battle Orbaru go to the back first. Not every single time, from what Renathan could tell and had heard before, but all of the times that he did, they let him on back. That practically allowed him to skip the line.

Needless to say, Renathan was not popular. Thankfully, though Lazare was easily one of his favorites, he wasn't going to breed him super commonly. Sure, he did breed him last month, and that had secured the collective ire of everyone that was in the waiting room that had been waiting for some time. Renathan did not at all blame them, these folks could have been waiting in here for up to two hours, in his own experience. He shot them a 'sorry' mouthed beneath his mask but of course it wouldn't be seen. That was the point of the mask, really. Still, he felt bad. He stood at the end of the line looking pretty sheepish in all honesty, with a sloth orbaru beneath his arm and his particularly awful today battle orbaru, Renathan just hoped that today would come to an end soon enough. That would probably help so much, but of course today was only just starting. Lazare immediately saw a female that caught his eye, and twisted around Renathan's body, practically tying him up with the chain. "Lazare!" Renathan called out, trying desperately to hold on to both Kingfisher and Lazare, while having a chain twisted about him.

Lazare didn't seem to notice Renathan, not even when he called out. Really it didn't shock Renathan, Lazare was really on one today! However, the female orbaru that had caught his eye was jerked away from him by someone that obviously didn't want his attitude in his bloodlines, or perhaps just didn't think that purple and red-panda would look good together. Renathan didn't blame him, with how Lazare was acting today. It was really stressful, in his opinion of course, that Lazare was getting worse instead of better as time went on it would seem. "Lazare-" Renathan said, trying to step free of the chain while some of the breeding center workers ran over to help. No one took a six-foot-tall orbaru lightly, not even when he was really just being excited and playful. "Lazare, come on. You're never like this..." He said, finally getting untangled with a bit of help as he did so. "He's never like this, I promise. I don't know what has gotten into him today." It was true, though. Lazare had been well behaved for the most part, up to this and last month. It was probably Renathan's fault somehow.

It was embarrassing and awful, no matter what the cause. Renathan had so much trouble recently, and he really was stressed about the issues that faced him. He was up to his knees in work, having to deal with a lot of everyone elses' problems, exhausted and he really just wanted to finish this project, and maybe a third if he was lucky. However, he really didn't have the time to, either. He frowned, knowing that time was just kind of passing him by all the time. He had so much to do, and the times that he tried to go out to do something simple like this, something always went wrong. He just didn't feel confident anymore, not really. Renathan felt his lip tremble beneath the mask, and was for once quite glad that he had it on, because it hid the fact that he was just so... Tired. He wasn't ready to continue dealing with this anymore. He is able to hold himself together while he is brought to the front counter to sit; he doesn't even notice the chain has left abrasions on his arm. He was just dealing with worse, emotionally lately. He couldn't wait until the tournament was over. That would help.

Renathan didn't really even have time to be doing this today. He should be at his job, or at home trying to help Shy Guy heal, or anything but here, but he really wanted to have a calm moment in his day to do something that he enjoyed doing. Was that too much to ask? Renathan frowned. He often felt like he should give his all to others, and it really showed in his personal life. How long had it been since he had taken care of himself? He looked out the window, looking a bit frustrated, while the breeding center helpers handed him so antibiotic ointment for his arm. He went ahead and wiped it in, only just now realizing that he'd been slightly injured, and then he carefully handed it back and thanked them. He knew that soon, they would probably be helping him register Lazare and Kingfisher as being here. He was really trying to ignore the judgmental glares of the individuals in the line and in the waiting room. Why would he be breeding an 'aggressive' battle orbaru, anyway? Look, it's not even trained! How dangerous! He could hear the scandalized words of the individuals around. It made him feel a bit like he was in a box.

Box or no box, Renathan was NOT going to just go home. He had gotten Lazare here through a lot of pain and suffering as far as he was concerned, and now he was here and he knew that he had to get this done no matter what happened. Renathan allowed that feeling of determination to wash over him so that he could get this over with. He wouldn't let the other folks deter him from it, not unless the breeding center helpers tossed him out. He doubted that they would, but he kept himself careful anyway, doing everything he was told to as soon as he was told to do it. Lazare was being a little more friendly now, as he was being petted, scratched under the chin and behind the ears much like an overgrown dog. The mammalian watched him, slitting his eyes at the orbaru. Yeah, he was going to get trained at some point. If it weren't for the fact that Renathan loves his coat colors and markings, Renathan would have probably retired him from breeding for his behavioral issues. He used to be so sweet; what happened there? Renathan couldn't help but think about it, frowning.

This was one of those moments that having Auburn around, or even Shy Guy around, would have helped Renathan immensely. Whenever he went into his head a bit like this, he was generally roused out of his by the prodding of one of his very carefully trained creatures. They could feel it, when he did it, so they often helped out, presumably so that they didn't have to feel him spiral. However, he wasn't having a good day today, or really a good week, or heck, even a good month. He wasn't sure what to do anymore, and he felt utterly alone. Renathan faintly heard his named called, and he stood up, bringing Lazare on a shortened leash up to the front counter. The individual there helped him get his sheet together, all filled out and carefully stapled, before he stepped away. Lazare would have to wait a little while longer, of course. All of the rooms were currently filled up right now. Renathan sat back down and realized that he had been holding Kingfisher's crate the entire time close to his chest. Renathan carefully sits the crate down on the ground, and faces it to where she could see Lazare.

All Renathan could really do was to tell himself that the breeding was going to be worth all of this, regardless. The offspring was going to be his favorite breed of orbaru, the v2s, and they were probably going to look like Lazare did before he was turned, at least a little bit. Both parents looked super similar, after all, though different enough to give him pause. He knew that the offspring was going to be a male, but he didn't know exactly what it would look like. Dark and Rusty, like the father? Highlighter orange, like the mother? Would he have her white eartips and tiny cheek markings, or would he have the red-panda markings of Lazare? He hoped that he wouldn't get Lazare's meanness streak, but heck, Kingfisher had her own kind of game going and was quite mean at times. Renathan had no idea what to do with her, really, but he did like her more than Lazare at the moment. At least neither one of them were as bad as Lazare's daughter and Kingfisher's mother, Cinnabon. Kingfisher was finally awake, it would seem. She had to crouch partially and couldn't stand all the way because she was HUGE for an orbaru. That's sloths for you.

Renathan was glad to see Kingfisher awake. She'd only been lightly dozing before, so she had known that Lazare was here, but she hadn't bothered to play with him. That was just her way, she seemed to prefer watching orbaru to actually playing with them. But now it would seem that it was time for her to make her move, at least in her own time. Renathan couldn't help but smile, looking at her. She was a real spitting image of the red panda line, the first sloth in the entire line. He was proud of her, even if his breeding practices had been a little wonky. He didn't mind though, at all. Inbreeding had no effect in orbaru, he'd been told that because he was keeping lineages super carefully. After that, he realized that he had been giving himself an unfair restriction that wasn't doing anything, and well, now here they were. Kingfisher made a loud booping noise, one that was probably the loudest in his entire kennel, and Lazare seemed to stop sniffing the fake plants in the breeding center, and turn to her. Instantly, he realized that there was a female around him! Lazare peered down at the smaller female, blinking.

The pair had similar eyes; really similar. Renathan could tell that Lazare could tell that they were just like his tail. The huge battle orbaru turns around and stares at his tail orb, and then back at kingfisher's eyes. They were blue, and speckled with white. Renathan had been a bit worried at first that the orbaru with 'starry' eyes would be blind, but luckily none of them were. It was just little small bits and bobs of white pigment, or perhaps even lack of it, in their eyes that allowed for a pretty dazzling gaze. Kingfisher blinked, staring out at Lazare's tail like she had seen it for the first time. There was no way that she had, they were housed together. Heck, all of Renathan's red pandas were housed together, to save the rest of the kennel from them. Lazare and Kingfisher were definitely already acquainted, he knew it. Perhaps it was just the fact that Kingfisher was 'ready' right now that caused her to look at him differently, or something. Renathan didn't know, and really didn't want to know either. This was the guy that didn't look directly at his orbaru when they did the tail-flashing thing, after all.

Renathan hoped to high goodness that these two wouldn't breed in the lobby, before even getting their berries, before a room opened up. He was already embarrassed enough as was, and he was a bit worried that the pair breeding early would do more than ruin his breeding plans for the month. However, he still didn't want to keep kingfisher from being near Lazare, because provided they wouldn't do their thing out here in the lobby and all, Renathan could manage to get them to breed earlier if they paid attention to one another now before they got into the room. The mammalian tapped his foot as he waited, more of anxiety than boredom. He hadn't been here all that long, after all. He just had things to do, and places to be, and he'd have to stop pretty soon to go do those things regardless of whether he wanted to or not. It was a conundrum, as they always seemed to have with these excursions. Renathan was running out of time to be able to do his hobby, and he was super sad about it. Especially since orbaru breeding had just started up again a few months ago. It made him very upset.

Still, his job was more important than doing this, even if he didn't want it to be. It was ramping up, going out into the fall season, and he had to start paying more attention to it than he was to his hobbies. Renathan frowned, just thinking about it making him super upset. However, he still was able to hear the next room be called by the breeding center helpers, and then he felt his arm gently being guided. Ah, so it was their turn! Finally! Renathan gently lead Lazare on the shortened leash towards the back after picking up Kingfisher's carrier. Everyone around him was glaring in his direction, he felt. It should have been the next person in line, not him with a dangerous battle orbaru. However, Renathan felt confident that now, sooner rather than later, he would be able to get these two bred and maybe even home without much more of a fuss. He gently corralled Lazare into the room, and sat kingfisher's carrier down before closing the door with a wave to the breeding center helper. He gently put his hand in his pocket and felt around for the berries in the pouch he had brought for them.

The berries were thankfully both there and whole, he could feel them gently. Renathan was glad, of course. He had been worried that yet another messed up happening would ruin his day, but thankfully, it would seem that the rest should go off without a hitch, provided the two breed as they were supposed to and all. Renathan felt himself trembling, however. He really was coming apart at the seams, it would seem. The mammalian sat down and gently unlatched Kingfisher, and of course unlatched the chain from Lazare's collar. He figured that if he got to them fast enough before they bred, that it wouldn't mind if he let them both off and out of the confinements at the same time. Renathan then pulled the pouch out of his pocket and carefully extracted the two berries that he had chosen for this breeding. One was supposed to facilitate the formation of a male offspring, it was the last of the ones he had bought during one of his many trips to the shops. The other was supposed to facilitate the formation of a v2 instead of any other breed. Renathan was quite excited that together, these two would allow for a spectacular looking baby.

Still, Renathan barely had time to do this anymore, to put it off. He had somewhere to be, and he was giddy with excitement over the fact that he could finish this in one fell swoop like this. He felt like it had taken him days, days to get all of the items he needed for this breeding and then to do the breeding, but he knew that it hadn't taken that long. He'd just been planning it for so long, and now he was finally going to manage it. Renathan pulled the two berries out, and had the female ingest the male one first, since it was the most important. Kingfisher was ALWAYS happy to eat, that was the life of the sloth orbaru after all, and Renathan was glad. She took the berry and immediately began to devour it without issue, chewing and swallowing it quickly, leaving not a drop for Lazare, who pouted over it. Still, he seemed to know not to pester Kingfisher; she was apparently just a tad more dominant than him. After a moment to let it go down, Renathan gently gave her another berry, this time the v2 one. Kingfisher looked like she was going to eat this entire one, too.

Renathan had figured, of course, that Kingfisher would eat both. She typically did; she was a sloth after all. However, she took one look at the male. She looked FAR more sly than she should have, and after a moment of fake consideration, Kingfisher broke the berry into a very lopsided half. She gave the much smaller end to Lazare, who took it graciously. Renathan was partially appalled and partially baffled. He had no idea what just took place; there was so much context there. Orbaru generally liked to share, and when they didn't it was nothing more than a personality quirk. He had literally never seen an orbaru look that thoughtful while 'deciding' to share. Let alone that purposeful small piece, and the sly look. Before he got much of a chance to think about it though, both orbaru began eating the last berry pieces. Well, at least that was good! Renathan had been a bit concerned with how today went that even more bad occurrences would happen. It would seem that so far, it was going well. Now all Renathan had to wait on was for the two to breed. That might take a few moments, or about an hour, who knew?
