Taking forever was perhaps a bit of an understatement for certain, Renathan knew that it would take just as long to get where he had been as it had before. Now that he had the charm though, he couldn't think of anything else that would give them pause. He was tempted to make up for the lost time by cutting through the park as he used to do, but that might cause more issues. The park had been a nightmare to them the last few times that he had been trying to get to the breeding center to work on the orbaru breedings he had planned this month! Renathan could have face palmed as he forced himself away from the place where he could most easily have crossed the park. No, he'd go around. That was the plan, that was the most important thing. He hurried down the street, nearly jogging but trying to keep from jostling the creatures too much as he walked. They were mostly paying attention to each other of course, but sometimes when he jostled a little too much they would get distracted from one another and instead look around them. Renathan was afraid that Howie might get scared.

Howie was indeed his most easily frightened and very much his most finicky orbaru. It was quite important that he work with him in the future to make him more easily bred, and that just meant continuing to work on him like he was now, taking him to the breeding center with a nice female that would probably mind. He was very sure that the one he picked today, Zelda, would mind. He kept this in mind as he walked as swiftly as possible to his destination. The long way around was indeed quite long, but hopefully nothing else bad would happen before he got there today. So far, the clear sided carriers were doing wonders for the patience of the orbaru, since they could see each other the entire time they were walking and everything. It kept them much more calm and polite, and Renathan was certainly glad for it. The last few times he had taken any orbaru out for breedings, they had been little nightmares. Well, except for the one he did with Jack, those breedings were always so much simpler it would seem. Maybe that had something to do with Jack herself? Was she pretty lucky, or something?

Renathan pondered on that for only a second before his heart thumped. He really did like Jack, she was just... So capable, and could take care of herself, and really wanted to take care of others too! She was so kind, and really knowledgeable. It was hard not to look up to her, even before he started feeling this way. He was glad that he had met her, of course, when they were working with orbaru way back before orbaru ever stopped producing kits and all. Renathan grinned beneath the mask, feeling better already, of course thinking about Jack made him feel better and lifted the cloud of annoyance that had spread over him when he had forgotten the breeding center charm yesterday. He was now able to focus on his beautiful surroundings again; the fall really was nice, right? Sure, he could worry about things, or he could just deal with them when he got there. That was the most important thing, right? Howie was fine right now, not stressing or anything, and that was what actually mattered when things came down to it. Renathan hurried along the path, getting closer and closer to his destination as the orbaru played that 'slap the wall' game again.

Well, at least they were playing a game now, even if it was kind of a loud annoying one. Pretty soon they'll be at the breeding center, and of course that would probably be a long wait too. He hoped not, but it would seem that he always had some kind of long wait when it came to that and all. Renathan made his way to the end of the final street, and he turned the corner. There was the breeding center! He was so glad that he had it within his sights that he really wasn't even too worried about the whole 'taking forever' thing that was probably about to happen. He was just glad that he could finally see it! He tried not to worry about how late he was going to be to his job. The folks under his tutelage could hold it down until he got there, right? There probably also wouldn't be too many issues there, they all respected him so he probably wouldn't even have to tell them why he was late. But he would, that was the most important thing over all. He glanced down at the orbaru and smiled. They'd be super happy to get to play closer together, he was sure.

Renathan walked down the street quickly, and then before he even knew it since he was so deep in thought, he found himself with his palm on the door handle of the breeding center. He was glad that he always kept the critter carriers under his arms and had his hands free, that way he wouldn't drop them when he was deep in thought like this and tended to do things without thinking of them and all. "Alrighty you two, we are here!" He announced. Finally, after all this time, they could get this show the rest of the way on the road. He tried not to be too upset about the fact that they were probably going to have to wait a while longer, and then he opened the door, pushing through with some difficulty and using his feet to prop the door for himself. Finally, he managed to be inside and the door was shut, and of course it took a moment for his eyes to adjust to indoor lighting instead of the outdoor lighting he'd been dealing with before. As soon as his eyes adjusted, he glanced down at the two playing orbaru and felt resolve.

Yes, he was going to get this done today regardless of anything else standing in his way. It was important that he did so, since they were running against the time limit at the end of the month! Pairs weren't allowed to be bred within the same month, and Howie had another partner that was going to be waiting on him next month! Of course, Zelda probably wouldn't, but that was fine. Honestly, she was really pretty as-was, and she'd already produced S'more and Cinnabon... Though Cinnabon had to go, since she was aggressive. Renathan was very sure that it was not Zelda's fault that she had been awful, since Zelda's sister Notch was fine, and Cinnabon's sister S'more was fine. It had to have been Lazare's genes, passing all the way down, right? Renathan thought about that as he joined the line for the front counter. It really wasn't that long, all things considered. Just three people in front of him. He topped his foot silently, since it was padded, as he waited. The two orbaru continued playing their little slap the wall game, though they added hind foot stomps to it too. What were they doing now? It was always something!

Renathan was glad that they were playing, though, of course. It would keep Howie from freaking out or being picky, he was sure. On the other hand, it was kinda annoying since them slapping the plastic sides of the critter crates it was creating a large amount of noise. Not really compared to some other noises he'd heard before of course, but they were indeed quite awful considering they were small orbaru creatures. Renathan saw the person in front of him move up, and then Renathan moved up a bit himself. He waited again, tapping his foot, and then the person directly in front of him moved up again, and he did so again. This time, the person in front of him had stepped up to the counter, and that meant that he was next! He was pretty relieved, of course. He wanted to get this done and over with regardless, even if it did take a while. He really wanted to get this done today and not have to worry about trying to do this some other day like he had carefully considered previously when he noted that he had forgotten the breeding center charm that he needed to show to even do the breeding today.

Now he could really allow himself to think about what might come of this breeding. he was hoping for the least amount of grey possible, but he knew that it was probably possible, seeing as Zelda threw S'more, who had a grey belly for some reason? That had been a point of contention for Renathan, who wondered how a grey belly that was nearly white got passed down, and from which parent it probably did from. For one, the other parent had been Laharu, and his belly was the blackish color the rest of his body was. He hoped that it was Laharu, who hadn't been bred since, and not Zelda, who had a nice pale chocolate belly that was nearly russet. Just gorgeous. He hoped that would pass down instead, though maybe not if the babies were too much more pale than that. They were going to possibly inherit Howie's pale body. Who really knew though? It was kind of like a grab bag, he was sure. They were just so different! Soon, Renathan noticed that he had been able to ignore the two orbaru's playful game that was quite loud, and now it was his turn to fill out the paperwork!

Renathan sat both of the orbaru down on the ground close together in their separate clear-walled critter crates so that they could interact without being able to breed. Renathan was super glad that he had chosen to do that, since the poor creatures usually had to wait so long and be bored and lonely. This fixed the problem entirely, and with very little issues for himself. They continued to play at his feet as he leaned on top of the counter to file the paperwork. He managed to get the paperwork filed properly. He'd done it a ton of course so it was like second nature, but sometimes he was so deep in thought that he messed up! Renathan put the pen down on the table and then the breeding attended glanced over the paper and began putting the information down into the computer. Renathan watched the orbaru play, and then remember. Oh, the breeding center charm! He quickly grabbed the charm and put it on the counter from his little pouch. "Here we are sir, sorry if there was any complications!" The individual waved him off, and he put the thing back into the pouch for later use.

Apparently Renathan was becoming quite the remembered face here in the breeding center, or rather, mask. He was glad, though. He would much rather not have to worry about forgetting things all the time. Maybe if he was lucky he would be able to expedite this process in the future a bit. He doubted it, though. Some of these things just can't be helped, they are the way that they are. It would seem that waits would be one of them, though he hoped at some point that the breeding center would be just a tad less filled up all the time if he had the chance. Soon, the paperwork was done being filed, and he was given a number. Great, that was good. He gently picked up both of his critter carriers with some difficulty now that he was having to hold the paper with the number on it, and then he went over to the waiting room. As to be expected, it was filled with people. Ah, well, he would deal with it. Renathan selected a seat and sat down, allowing both of his two orbaru carriers to be sat down closer together. They could just barely touch paws through the grates.

Renathan had, in his experience, realized that even though he wasn't sure how orbaru did their thing, that they didn't seem to do it by touching paws. All around him were several different individuals just sitting around. Some where reading the little magazines that tended to be kept in waiting rooms like this one, and others were playing with one or another of their orbaru. A few people had pachee, Renathan was glad to see that because he wasn't having to wait on those people with the pachee to get done. In fact... Now that he really looked at them, a lot of people had pachee! He was so very glad, because he needed to get this done as soon as possible. He could really only see three other people in here with orbaru pairs! That was great! At his feet on the ground, the two of his orbaru were playing more quietly now, trying to slap each other's paws and such. Well, at least it was a quieter game now! Renathan hoped that Howie would win, if only because he would probably get indignant if he didn't. Orbaru were usually not the way that Howie tended to be. He was a mess.

Renathan did at least hope that the two would be willing to breed quickly, when the time came. He didn't want to waste the berries if Howie was going to refuse at the last second. But he didn't need them to actually breed without having their berries eaten! That would be trouble. Howie really did make every breeding he was in trouble, that was for sure. Ugh. This was going to be a short enough wait, he figured. A few people came and went with pachee, it would seem that they took a lot less time to breed. Finally one of the people he was waiting on that was in front of him got called back to the back for an open orbaru room. That was awesome! Now his waiting was about 1/3 of the way shorter. Renathan kicked back, stretching his legs out, but not enough to annoy the other people waiting. He watched his two orbaru as they played, and then watched other people's orbaru as they played as well. It wasn't too bad of a wait. Renathan wouldn't mind waiting all the time if it was like this! He was glad that his mood was much better now than it had been.

Suddenly, a loud noise erupted nearby. Renathan immediately reacted, his ears leaned towards the noise, partially jumped up out of his seat. His two orbaru stopped playing and turned towards the noise afterward, and so did everyone elses' orbaru and the other people there. Suddenly, one of the breeding center workers began hollaring, and Renathan had to jump up and race towards the door. Someone was trying to bring a drake and a hen in! "Wait wait wait, don't bring those here!" He said, leaving his orbaru safely in the closed waiting room as he stepped out near the counter. The idiot was standing there looking pretty petrified. "Don't you know that drakes and hens aren't in season anymore? You could get everyone's pets killed, get out of here with those!" Renathan couldn't even imagine what was going through this person's head, but thankfully, his height and bulk seemed to finally get through to him, even if all of the shouting from everyone else didn't yet. The individual turned around, just barely dragging the hen-crazed drake out of the door, thankfully leading them both away by leading the obedient hen away. Renathan almost growled beneath his breath. Who even did that?

Renathan was quiet for a moment, slowly backing down. A few other people were glaring out of the waiting room door, and Renathan knew that he needed to go sit down and do some waiting. Instead, the breeding center helper came to him, and let him know that a breeding room just opened, and that he was to have that breeding room since enough had opened for all of the orbaru breeders in front of him to have a room during that time period. Renathan didn't blame them for leaving so quickly, since sarane were so huge and dangerous like that! Renathan kept his sarane and his orbaru VERY far from one another. He was probably not the best sarane keeper ever, but he knew how to keep his sarane from eating other creatures. He shook his head at the door, and then turned to the breeding center helper and thanked him before moving into the room and picking up his two orbaru. They seemed to be doing well all things considered. They weren't really afraid, could orbaru even be afraid for the most part? So when Renathan picked them up they were mildly curious looking, but mostly playing with one another.

Renathan walked towards the back after leaving the waiting room, an orbaru under each arm. They were protesting slightly since they wanted to continue playing that paw game, but Renathan needed to get them back to the breeding room so that they could play some more. The breeding center helper walked him back there and let him in the room, and Renathan thanked him again before sitting down in one of the nice cushy seats. He put the two carriers down on the ground gently and then pulled the pouch from his side sash, knowing that he needed to be able to get them to eat their berries before starting this. Renathan took the baby berry and gave it to the female, and then gave the coiled fruit to Howie, since he knew that the creature would eat this. He was so picky, that he refused most food! This time he seemed a little hungry, and took the fruit readily to being nibbling on it. The female began to eat hers too, and Renathan was so glad. He just hoped that his notoriously picky Howie would breed with Zelda like he was supposed to, instead of being finicky about the whole thing.
