The tree-line disappeared beneath him in quiet swooshes, before going completely still as he slowed and approach the clearing from above. With no wings to physically beat around and make a ruckus with, the tat-lung could easily slip into the clearing, though he had to make sure he knew which angle to approach from. It was getting closer to evening, but the sun was still high enough in the skies that he could cast an involuntary shadow over the nyssa if he came in with it at his back. Instead, Mear hovered close to the clearing edge, went a little around and slowly descended along the treeline’s edge.
His feet stopped a few feet off of the ground, keeping himself hovering in the middle of the air. Being one with plant energies himself, perhaps even less than the nyssa in comparisson, the plants could just as well act like a webbing to a spider, transmitting trespass before any noise is even made.
His eyes scanned the edge of the clearing, towards the corner the mammalian had mentioned, and he eventually saw the twin-tree with a small glint in the middle. Slowly, he hovered closer, unbundling their crystal cluster as he did. Reaching the shrine, he reached down and gently brushed aside some of the vines that had begun to cover an old metal-framed photo of an elderly couple, stuck deep in the crevice between the trees.
Mear paused. The sight struck a weird chord within him, as if a future potentially promised. But there was no time to dwell on it there and then. He gently pulled the stolen crystal from its nest, placing the diamond cluster there in its stead. The vines were brushed back over to where they had been and he hovered backwards, inspecting his work. Another pause, a thought, and he briefly moved his hand, sending a bit of power into the plants, before turning around and flying out of the clearing.
The mammalian was waiting for him as he landed again in their departure spot, So, we’re good?
He nodded, Exactly as the nyssa left it, with a compliment.
Darky smiled, recognising the look, Good. Then let’s return this one to a worried old lady. She helped wrap the more fragile crystal in the cloth and tuck it into the pockets, before the two took their leave for the garden edge.
Back in the clearing, the shrine was still as it was before, though when the nyssa awoke it might find a few more flowers growing out of the tree and vines, dotted in little rainbow speckles off of the dazzling diamond crystals in the middle, casting a soft reflection on an old, warm-hearted photo in the back.
