“Alright Taka, let’s see where the biggest tree is, and there we’d have our target.” She says cheerfully to the Vulticus as she looks at the vegetation around them. The old lady definitely was right in that it got to be abandoned with how wild the plants have been allowed to grow here, but a lot of the higher vegetation is just bushes that were able to grow large when no one cuts them down in order to maintain their size. “This almost reminds me of my own garden.” She muses as she looks around, only there are hardly any tree’s around compared to her own. But would that make it easy to find this Nyssa? She wasn’t so sure of it, but it would at least be good idea to try. “Lets go this way Taka.” She says to her large companion as she notes farther away that the bushes weren’t exactly small there when they should have been with the distance between them. They’ve only been walking for about ten minutes as she looked around first in order to see what type of vegetation is seen here the most, and then try to get a feel for anything unusual. That there are so very few tree’s growing in the garden will be handy for her. “Grrr?” Taka growls low under her breath as her ears flatten for only a second before she looks at her, expression curious and cautious at the same time. ‘So she might have picked up a dangerous scent?’ She wasn’t sure what to make of it, but she tugged on the leash to get her to walk with her to that very large bush or tree in the distance.

Hesitatingly Take follows after her, sniffing the ground now and then when something else catches her interest, but noticeable doesn’t wag her tail, and keeps her ears perked up in front of her, twitching at every loud noise that neither of them makes, but some wild animals that live here and scurries off as soon as we get close. “Rather cheerful place isn’t it Taka?” She says while looking around, going around certain bushes she wouldn’t be able to push through as she hasn’t taken along a weapon with her. Taka suddenly gives a short but deep bark, whether at her question, or because of something else, she doesn’t know. But she does turn her attention in taka’s direction more as she sees the vulticus stare of in the distance, mouth formed in a snarl as her tail stands up straight. “Taka?” She asks softly in question while the Vulticus keeps growling. Looking into the direction Taka is looking at, she can’t say she actually sees what it is Taka is so defensive about. Its mostly just low vegetation she sees, though perhaps..

Squinting farther in the distance, in a completely different direction from where they are heading to, she does see a couple of trees grouped together. How exactly did she miss that? “Taka, lets go in that direction.” She says in a determined tone, and takes out of her pocket a small meat treat in thanks for warning her about that unusual group of trees. Compared to the one she was heading too, it looked much more like that one was just a normal tree. Nyssa did tend to have more than one growing on their back after all, maybe especially a very old Nyssa. Holding out the treat in a open palm towards Taka she sees her flicking her ears back for a small moment, but with a small wag of her tail she lowers her head to lick up the treat from her palm, and chew on it quickly. “Good job Taka.” She praises her, even if it might be a little early to do that as she isn’t sure if it would lead to the Nyssa. Petting Taka’s head for a moment to also dry her hand from dog slobber, and give her a bit more affection, she then tugged on the leash to go in that direction.

With each step that they come closer to the group of trees, she can tell Taka is getting more nervous, her steps more hesitant in coming closer to the trees as her eyes stare at it. “It will be alright Taka, don’t worry.” She murmurs softly to the Vulticus, petting her at her side as she is careful where to step on so that she doesn’t make too much of a noise, Taka seems to do that more naturally then her, as if she has done it before with hunting prey like this. But she can tell that she likely never hunted in this way before. After a solid twelve minutes of walking carefully to the group of trees the rustling of leaves could be heard even though there is hardly any wind to make it move. ‘Oh she definitely did a good job with spotting anything unusual.’ She couldn’t help but think as they stopped for a moment to stare at the similar looking trees, she’ll need to come closer to see if it is as attached to each other on the back of a Nyssa as she thinks it is, but for now she tries studying the color of its trunk.

She did a little research on the different breeds of Nyssa that exists when she already had the perfect companion in mind to take along with her before leaving the kennel, and with how few different breeds it has she had a rather easy time doing it. She knows by the color of the leaves it isn’t a Bloodroot as she knows how they look by sight. There is no orange leaves or pink flowers from what she can see, so the Ever Autumn and Sakura are crossed mentally of the list as well. That means only the Maple and Oak are left on the list. ‘Isn’t the trunk more brown than green?’ She thinks as she looks lower, she feels a little more hopeful at spotting the brown among the green leaves, the Maple at least are rumored to be less violent then a Oak tree. And if that is truly the case here as well, trying to make a peacefully trade with it could work?

One can hope right? “Taka, c’mon.” She whispers as she lightly tugs on the leash to make her move closer. The light rumbling down Taka’s throat isn’t a good sign for trying to make things go smoothly, but she also can’t let go of the leash and risk the chance she runs away, or attack what is rather likely the Nyssa when it isn’t needed yet. “Hello?” She calls out as starts walking around the large groups of trees that easily tower over her, trying to find its head while still keeping some distance away from it, and also making sure she doesn’t trip at some low growing bushes with thorns. Taka easily jumps over them, and seems to always find the right spot to not land on any of them while still keeping the length of the leash in mind with how much space she has available to do it with each jump. She doesn’t have that type of luxury though, she isn’t nearly as big or skilled to try it and not make her cloths get stuck in the thorns and rip slightly. As it seems to happen easily with her current coat when just brushing against those particular bushes. “Hello? Can you hear me?” She calls out again, and this time she gets her answer in a rather frightening way.

The trees suddenly rise up from the ground, and she feels herself shake slightly as what she already felt like it would be rather large trees, it only seems to grow more in height as clearly the Nyssa had been laying down before she interrupted him or her. She doesn’t know for certain how to identify their gender, even with her own she hasn’t figured it out yet. The growling of Taka is getting louder while she takes only a quick glance below at the feet of the Nyssa, and sees the crystal cluster she needed to take back. Looking back up and seeing the Nyssa stare at them, she licks her suddenly dry lips. “Hello.” She repeats again as she drops the metal leash of Taka and starts to stand on it with her foot. Taking her backpack quickly off her back, she opens the zippers and takes out everything she had taken along for the trade and made sure to pack away the things she didn’t need to use for the trade when its contents where emptied, except the meat. That she left within her backpack. “I wish to trade, that, for all of this.” She points at the crystal cluster between the Nyssa’s feet, and then slowly at the spot she had dropped the freeze-dried insects on the ground, the fruits and a sack of gems that are usually fed to those who eat rocks with certain minerals in them. The Nyssa slowly followed at which things she is pointing at, but he or she doesn’t show whether it is agreeing to trade with her. She knows instinctively that without Taka at her side, the Nyssa can easily take the offerings she had placed on the ground without even the slightest bit of trouble.

The staring between the three seemed to go on for hours when it might have only been a few minutes as the Nyssa contemplates what she is asking, but finally when it moved away from the crystal cluster, he or she seems to have come to a most favorable decision for her. Grabbing ahold of her backpack, and taking the metal leash in her free hand, she tugs Taka away from the goods she has laid down on the ground for the Nyssa. And somehow, without any needed communication of them both she and Taka took the long way around the Nyssa to get to the crystal cluster, while the Nyssa did the same. Eyeing at Taka strangely when she pulled her lips up to snarl at the walking tree. It didn’t seem to bother the Nyssa when its focus turned more to his or hers new spoils, its clawed front paw picking up some of the fruit carefully in order to eat it.

She didn’t pay it any mind with what the Nyssa did now, the trade went successful and now she just has to make sure to carefully pack the crystal cluster in a handful of towels first before packing it in her backpack and placing it the bag back on her back, taking care not to have the straps dig into her shoulders. The snarling of Taka took her momentarily by surprise as she looks behind her and sees the Nyssa staring at them. Smiling nervously she waves a goodbye to him or her. “Thanks for the trade!” She says cheerfully, trying to keep any nervousness out of her voice as she slowly backs away. Tugging Taka with her when it seems it looked like the Vulticus would rather lunge at the Nyssa, consequences be damned. Why Taka felt like acting as such, she isn’t sure of. She only knows that it is best to go now before they have overstayed their welcome with the Nyssa in question.

“C’mon Taka, we need to go.” She says under her breath as she starts to get more nervous, the tugging on Taka’s leash feels like it is useless when the Vulticus hardly moves with it. The sudden flash of inspiration made her stop tugging at the leash for a moment as she grabs the packet of meat treats from her pocket in one hand, and waves it in front of Taka’s nose. Gaining her attention at the smell. “Come Taka, we need to go.” She murmurs, tugging once more and finally getting Taka to move away from the Nyssa. She set the pace to walking as quickly out of the abandoned garden as possible. Only stopping when she couldn’t see the Nyssa any longer in the distance. “Phew.. Glad we got that done. Taka, you want a reward now too, right?” She says as she drops the leash to the ground and stands on it with one foot. Carefully to take off her backpack and lay it on the ground. “Lets see.. The meat should be.. Here!” She only needed to rummage in it for a moment to find it. Taking the packaged meat out of her bag she carefully unwraps it, gaining Taka’s attention as the scent of meat becomes heavy in the air. “Here Taka, you more then deserve it.” She says in a soft tone as she gives the unwrapped meat to Taka, smiling as she starts to chew on it. Now she’ll just need to head to the old ladies house to deliver the crystal cluster and she is done with this quest. For just a moment as she looks back to where she knows the Nyssa is still likely to eat the bugs and fruits she traded with, she can’t help but wonder. If it did come up to a fight, how would she have fared if she did had magic at her side? She still can’t help but feel disappointed that she never did find that Node she had set out to create. Not even after three and a half weeks later when she made her way to the alter. Still, its likely for the best she’ll just have to move on, and try to regather the right kind of ingredients for a second attempt next year. Taka LV 22.0, LY 4.0 Twilight 0.11 - Logged
