Morgan had not been working with Nico as much recently, if only because they had been working on their official clockworks training, and of course most spare moment were spent working with the tats, or with Waar. Nico was at a stable stage. Sure, Morgan wanted to finish his training at some point, but no Houluh had ever grown to adult in the labs, at least not yet, so Morgan didn't feel like they had to worry about getting him worked out before then. For now, Morgan simply took him on his regular walks, enjoying his company. On the second day of Vai Min Mur, Morgan goes out to the questing board, ready to pick up a nice quest for the month. Thankfully, the individual standing near the board this month scooted off quite quickly, though Morgan noted his particularly well-cut suit. Morgan was sure that they knew the tailor, in fact. "Well well Nico, looks like someone of decent taste needs something this month." Morgan rolled their eyes anyway, and Nico watched the man as he scuttled off. Morgan hadn't even really paid attention otherwise enough to note that the fellow was a Kapper.

Morgan moved for the quest board more quickly now that the man was gone, and they reached up gently, pulling it down from the board. They turned it over first, noting the nice thick creamy vellum. The front side was actually typed using a typewriter, Morgan could feel the impressions of the script on the paper from the keys. They read it rather quickly, and then ran their thumb along the clipped portion where they had torn it from the board. It was a neat intrusion, but it was still a tear. "My Good Boyo, do you want to go campin'?" Immediately, Nico waggled his tail excitedly, his long ears perked. "That's my good boy. We'll have to stop by the house to get ready." At that, Morgan took the scrap of vellum with them, they would throw it away at home as opposed to out in the open. Morgan hated littering.

It didn't take long for Morgan to pack the needed things; their backpack, Nico's food and water, the sleeping bag and tent. They ultimately decided to take the piece of paper, so that the individuals knew who was there and why whenever they went. Morgan gently got everything together and then let the housekeepers know that they would be gone for the night, as well as the tat-lungs. After making sure that everything was secured and that all of the creatures would be fed that night, including Waar, Morgan stepped out of the house with Nico heeling. The area was in the other moneyed sector in town, all the way across the Labs-City, and the pair had a good walk ahead of them. Morgan was leaving the house early, to make sure that they would get there in time and without having to rush. The walk was pretty calm, but then again, it was the afternoon on a weekday.

Morgan's arm was still healing, and sadly it was the arm that they preferred, meaning that they were having to make do with their 'off' hand when it came to everything. It really sucked, but they were sure that this would be an easy job. Chances were, it was just a tiny creature or two that were going in, probably a slynk. Morgan would just send Nico to chase whatever it was, and then they would be good. Usually the threat of a predator being around was enough to convince an animal to stop being around. Heck, if it was a person it would be even easier, since Morgan could be pretty intimidating, even with their left arm in a sling. Neither party seemed nervous as they made their way across the town towards the other side, following the information pad's notes on where to go to get to the address that had been on the vellum that Morgan had carefully folded in their pocket.

The bespectacled human adjusted their glasses to be further up on their nose as they glanced down at their information pad. Yup, this should be the place. Morgan mumbled just that as they looked up, their hand fell to Nico's head as they realized something. The house was nice, yes, very nice indeed. Large, about three-quarters the size of Morgan's own, even from all the way out here on the street Morgan could see that. However, there was something about it. Something Off, but the human wasn't one to give credence to weird feelings. Instead, they gave Nico a quick look, and then pretended to not be nervous at all when they saw that whatever it was, Nico seemed to be feeling it too. "Psh, critter, It ain't nothin'." Morgan said, voice dipping low as they squinted and studied the building a little more. It looked suspiciously like no one lived here, and like it was just kept up by some team or something. The grass was a tenth of an inch too high for this area- no self respecting rich person would accept this if they noticed it.

Morgan called Nico to their side again to make sure that he would follow, and then quickly jogged across the yard, the jaunt itself was a rather rough thing, since it was so long and Morgan's arm was folded against their side in the sling. They felt super off balance, and it sucked, but at least they had things going on. The houluh followed, having a much easier time since he was unencumbered and all. The pair managed to make it to the front door, where Morgan felt a bit odd again, their hair standing up on the back of their neck. At the same time, Nico's hackles raised. Huh, that was odd. It was in the middle of the day, if something went south the two could either flee or fight without issues, they were sure. Morgan raised their hand, gently grabbing the ornate and heavy knocker, which was in the shape of a lion's head with their off hand.

The houluh stood side-by-side with Morgan, his fidelity forcing him to stay stark still, and not cower behind Morgan's legs. Still, there was something VERY wrong here, after all. Morgan gently knocked the door with the knocker, and then stopped and stood there, feeling a bit annoyed. They were not accustomed to being on the porch of someone else's estate, and of course they hated knocking on other people's doors. Still, they were ready. The houluh stood stark still, legs locked, and nothing happened. Silence. A nice autumn breeze floated by, whistling through the leaves on the trees out there where the leaves were starting to get crunchy but were still green. Nothing happened; so Morgan gently grabbed the knocker yet again with their off hand, awkwardly, and then knocked it on the door. They waited, the pair, Nico with his tail raised, and Morgan with their eyes squarely on the door. Something was up.

Morgan felt a bit of a chill going over them, and noticed Nico shake just once at their heels. At this, Morgan grew frustrated, and went to reach up with their off hand to knock at the door yet again- this time the door opened, before Morgan could get a good grab on the door knocker. The kapper gentleman was standing there, even shorter than Morgan was, looking quite prim. Morgan was a little surprised not to see any doorkeeper; what kind of a moneyed individual didn't keep a doorkeeper? Morgan didn't, but who needed them when you had robot housekeepers, right? Morgan didn't frown, and instead looked quite neutral. They reached in their pocket awkwardly with their off hand, and then grabbed the folded slip of vellum. With difficulty, they unfolded it carefully against their pants, and then showed it to the kapper. "I'm here as a quester to fix your issue. Figured you'd need discretion and all." Morgan was obviously moneyed as well, and the Kapper looked them up and down with visible skepticism.

Morgan didn't blame him. It wasn't uncommon for people like Morgan to not work. However, Morgan did rather enjoy doing quests, at least getting the rewards for them. It would be much easier, of course, to just bribe someone else for theirs, but eh. Morgan wouldn't mind doing it on their own anyway. It gave Morgan something to do with Nico in between working on the other creatures, at the very least. After a moment, and just before Morgan got aggravated at waiting, the kapper gave Morgan a quick nod, and then instead of inviting Morgan in, stepped out onto the porch with a quick 'come with me' and a flick of one of his long green ears. Morgan stepped off after him, arm still held up against their body under the labcoat that they wore. Nico followed Morgan, but more closely at heel than Morgan was following the quest giver, which was at a decent clip.

Morgan hadn't been too aggravated that the front lawn was off just a tad. That sort of thing was just a given with Morgan, and wasn't something they obsessed over. However, they were aggravated about the horrible state of the backyard. Well, there was the problem, Morgan thought! It was possible that something was living in the overgrown mess of a garden. There was one thing that Morgan felt was highly suspect, however... Where was this kapper's mate? Morgan kept a wary eye on him, just in case something did wind up being wrong. Morgan walked the rock path behind him, with Nico walking lazily at their side, his tail kept stiff still, however. He was ready for something to happen... Where was this shed, anyway? It didn't take long for Morgan to see a shed, in fact. They still felt something was wrong, even though the shed was well kept and barn red, surrounded with more gently curated flowers than the rest of the garden.

Morgan was baffled at the individual's choices of decor around this area; was the house supposed to be overgrown like it was? Nico sniffed around, interested in the area a little more so than usual. The bespectacled human pushed their glasses up further on their nose again, and then watched the kapper gentleman as he fumbled with a pair of keys to the little workshop. Morgan casted their gaze over the strange building, and tried to decide if they were in danger or not. Something just didn't feel right about this, but the human couldn't put their finger on what it was. It couldn't just be the overgrowth of the area, Morgan had seen stuff like this before, and though they wouldn't expect it out of someone that could buy tailored suits from the expert in town, they still didn't think that it was what was causing them so much mental discomfort.

It wasn't long before the kapper found the keys. Morgan snapped their fingers softly, and it caught Nico's attention from sniffing the area enough to actually heel again. The keys were inserted into the lock, and though Morgan's arm was in a rather sorry shape, they still found theirself absentmindedly sensing the electricity in the air around them. Of course, being a chaos elemental would probably come as a shock to any attacker... Perhaps even literally. It was dark inside, and Morgan felt the hairs on the back of their neck stand up again. The houluh raised his hackles as the kapper stepped inside, and Morgan felt like perhaps it might be a good idea to leave as the kapper stepped into the dark. After a moment or two, the light snapped on, and Morgan immediately felt just a tad better. The houluh slinked forward to get a better look, himself.

The entire building was surrounded by painting and sculpture supplies, and just inside, another small kapper male (this one with large eyes, obviously having a hard time seeing now that the lights were on) hugged the other kapper. Morgan breathed out, their own green buzzing eyes winking back to their normal hazel. Not before the smaller kapper male had seen, and tilted his head slightly. Both kappers were well dressed, but the one with nightvision and dayblindness appeared to be smeared with paint here and there. Morgan quickly gave a respectful nod, and then stepped inside, closing the door behind Nico respectfully. They understood what was going on now; kappers were not exactly the most green-thumbed people on the planet, and the area was grown up and dark because it kept light from getting into the workshop during the day, so that the smaller, dayblind kapper could actually see without issues and be awake during the day! Morgan felt a bit stupid to have thought that something bad was going on, and then immediately felt a little guilty... It wasn't because they were kappers, right? Morgan was being taught by a kapper, or was, before they had managed to graduate, and of course the Kapper that ran Tinker's Trinkets was one of Morgan's biggest role models, and he didn't even know it! Surely that wasn't it. Morgan thought about all of the things that they had just experienced, and realized that they had been accidentally assuming that the other individual was causing all of those issues, and they weren't- but that didn't mean that those issues weren't being caused by something. Morgan squinted their eyes, and then waved a hand respectfully, Nico was already back at the door sniffing, in fact. "Wait up, I think that there was something bad outside. You two stay in here, I'm going to go check it out." Morgan said, and then walked toward the door.
