It’s been quite a few weeks ago that I had talked about this with Darky when the question came up on sponsoring Lotine and wanting one to have more of an sea dragon theme with hind legs for my secondary and got to hear that it isn’t possible to sponsor them as they don’t belong in the numbered species, and when talking about the Dark Corners that the other two themes don’t really fit in with what I was hoping to do (Shadow of the Temple (Undead), and The East Wing (Cybernetics)) as they are the opposite of someone who’d have a love for nature and swimming (I am imagining that the undeath will just get there body filled with extra water should they try because their body is still exposed with ripped skin, muscle or something else that makes it happen, and the latter one just giving a high chance for electrocution. XD ) and The Vernal Herbarium (Botanics) isn’t possible because Lotine are already plants.
So Darky suggested a "aquatification" for Dark Corners, but that it is up to the mods on what they feel about adding something like that in or not.
Something like that would certainly give plant species like the Pachee an interesting look as well but not one that would make them be seen as unnatural when their theme of aquafication is still leaning towards nature too albeit the more fishy kind, or allow species that wouldn’t normally be able to live near large bodies of water capable of doing something like that and more. :D
So what are the staff’s thought or people’s general opinion on having something like that in the Dark Corners as well?

Honestly, Instead of 20 separate themes and areas there, why not just keep the few totally separate ones we have and then have one where you can sort of choose or create a theme? I’m sure if we add aquatics like we added plants, it won’t stop there. Plushification. Demonification. Angelification. Etc. People will ask for them. -shrug-
I’m not saying no aquatification. Just maybe make it more open than the select few. (Note: I don’t like aquatic things, so I can’t really push for it myself. But I like that people like it.)

Two separate answers from me!
- As a member
I wouldn't personally as a user be interested in Aquatification at all. As a user, I wanted Plushification, and certainly would have used it instead of the Plantification, which I have not really managed to find interest in personally. But those are just 'as a user/personal opinions', and not work opinions.
- As a mod
As a moderator, I don't really have an opinion though. I'm pretty cool with Darky adding things to the Dark Corners at her leisure as long as it is reasonable, since the more the merrier and everyone likes different stuff. I'm cool with Darky doing what she enjoys doing in artwork since that makes doing work for people a lot easier.

As a member The Undead thing is revival from death, ie zombie. The robotification is basically making it a cyborg. Plants is like how nature takes back from what man made, and nature stuff grows on corpses left to rot in the open. Those make sense to me. Aquafication could maybe fit into "Elementifying"? Like select an element and your pet becomes that element? (Like a lotine shaped blob of water that's intangible, an izer shaped bolt of electricity, a Vulticus literally made from fire etc) Because aquafication would just be having water overtake your pet, not make it sprout extra legs or other customizing quirks you seem to be after. But those are also things we can achieve, and have often in the past, with crossbreeding. Unfortunately, some things just can't be customized.
As a mod If it's something Darky wants to do, and she thinks there's enough market for it, have at it. I trust her judgement to make a system for it that would make sense.

Riku That would certainly be an idea to do yes, but not one I know if Darky would do, as that is wholly up to her (or if that would clash with what is already set into place). I can’t speak for her to say anything about that. I can only say that the aquafication was suggested by her after hearing me out on what I am hoping to achieve with the Lotine idea.
(I get what you mean with that, I myself have more interest in plantification then the other two options we have currently, but I do like seeing what people bring to them and the end product of such a decision and their reaction to it both ooc and ic.)
Renathan True on that with everyone liking different stuff and the more options there are, the more people would be really into it with the Dark Corners.
Rereading the thread with the voting poll for plushification and plantification I get the feeling she is also gathering more ideas on what could work and sound interesting for her to do in the Dark Corners to expand on them.
Ashe I don’t know for sure if the aquafication is more into adding a water element into it, or making them more sea creature based as an end result yet as when we where talking about the Flea Market (That was with asking if Lotine could become a custom species/sponsoring for them) she said that wouldn’t be possible with the other systems right now and that she doesn’t have a special permission from Spirit for it.
And I am quoting her on this ‘I don't feel comfortable warping the original Flea Market idea all too much, since it can lead to people thinking its restrictions shouldn't be honoured (and thus eventually leading to practises that aren't great for customers)’ than she came with this suggestion of Aquafication and seeing what the mods feel about it.
While crossbreeding would indeed be possible on getting the perfect look, I don’t want to go that route as that would mean they wouldn’t be able to give any Lola at all anymore, and that would also defeat the purpose of while not the theme, certainly their usefulness in the eyes of my secondary in wanting to breed Lotine for the Lola and selling them in order to raise more money for his way of living, either by selling them to the members or Alura if no one is interested in buying them. They’d always have a place to go to where they can be sold in the end. X3

To a degree, I kinda feel like it was already warped to a small degree, at least with being able to decide to do plantifying instead of plushifying, since according to the original spirit said he was 'gonna do' (and never did) plushification was going to be the 'final' option. I was not aware that this was an issue of 'not warping' the Dark Corners, I've been fine with it being Darky's personal preferences with her artwork work for others.
I value artistic decision for artists, since being an artist is a hard job!
So what do we mean by 'not changing it from it's original state too much'. What is 'too much' really here? Under that vein, adding 'aquatification' would be a completely different thing that spirit never intended, and therefor shouldn't be added (much like plantification was a switch that we don't know if spirit would have done, especially since he never finished anything).
When we use this sort of dialogue, it forces uncomfortable hairsplitting that me as a user HATED because it's not a clean answer, and it forces continuous question asking ad infinitum to try to get clarifications out of walking the line. That is Not a good way to have to play the site.
Now don't get me wrong, I think everyone knows how I feel about spirit and the fact that he broke and never finished anything, but I think it would be important to clarify what too much is and if, by that vein anything should be added at all. I don't support using spirit's vision as a crutch to say no, and Never Have.
I still mean the above in that context, but read the post below; I misread and it changes the context completely.

Standing by it, Darky can do what she wants within reason and with permission of course. I support artistic freedom, and collaboration between the mod team and the artists of the site fully.
(Heck, as a member I support collaboration between the mod team and the artists.)

OH, unless we are talking about trying to pick up species that weren't numbered, in that case I'm a dummy and read wrong. >.> Yeah, we can't pick up non-numbered species in the fleamarket ATM.

I guess I thought the topic was aquafying, didnt realize it was "getting non numbered creatures for customization". Oops. ^^; Yeah, like others have said, can't do special customs like that. Not even spirit did that, except in extremely very rare occasions.
If you look at the other modifications, such as undead or plantification, the creature stays the same. They just become taken over by whichever option you go with. So I dont see why aquafying would change the original pet like you want, by adding stuff to the shape of the pet like that. It would simply make the current pet more water like. Unless the entire system changed.

Later rate responses to this. ^^; Renathan: (answering the crossed out part) I didn’t know Plushification would have been the final one of the line we have available had Spirit made it available, that’s definitely new to me with it. ^^; First the drawing, then the shading, and finally the coloring.. I can definitely see that being hard, and even worse when out of muse on how to draw this one thing to make it look good and show it as your intending to do it. From what I can tell of what Darky said and I quoted she meant the having the non-numbered species sponsored as warping it too much from the original idea that only the numbered species could be done. It would certainly be confusing if the answer is too vague on it being a yes or no yeah, when it isn’t said directly on how things are going to be done. X3 (Answering the second post) I found that out yeah when I asked if I could sponsor the Lotine species yeah, so she came up with this suggestion instead. :3 Ashe: Apparently looking back, I thought when looking at the Cybernetics that it would be like the Bionic Enhancement, which seems to be different from the Dark Corners in what they do. X3 Still, getting to be over taken by the water element and becoming something else, it would be something that still interests me as it would give more options for choosing a nature element if one wants. And gives those who can’t be Plantified because they are already a plant more options for being somewhat a nature element, just.. watery. X3
