Quickly heading to the net she grabs it, folding it back in a position that allows her to tuck it under her arm again, while Taka sniffs the ground it had landed on, her tail wagging silently while she did. “We’ll be done soon I hope.” She mutters to Taka, catching her attention as she looks up, eyeing her with curiosity. Smiling she pets her on the head for a moment, and just before Taka’s hind leg could start twitching and making a sound by thumping it repeatedly on the ground when she caught a particular itchy spot, she stopped. Earning a soft whine from her companion for doing so. Shaking her head with a smile, she feels it is time now to focus on more important things. Aiming her flashlight at the ground, it took her a while to find the wire again, the dirt on it making it harder to see compared to when it was still on the grass. She stopped smiling. The wire had stopped moving now. ‘We better hurry as fast as possible if the creature caught on to us.’ She thinks while giving a soft tug with the leash in order to make Taka follow after her, she had discovered at least one treat she had thrown on the ground before going over the fence herself, and it has piqued her interest enough to try and find the other ones. “No Taka, not now.” She hisses under her breath as tugs again, finally getting Taka to move as she whines in disappointment.

“You’ll get more later Taka.” She says softly as she feels Taka nudge her side where the treats are located in her coat pocket. She pushes Taka’s head away from her while she focuses on following the wire. In a way she is surprised the creature was able to drag the whole length to this part without it snagging on to bushes and staying stuck, but somehow the creature was able to work something out that either made sure it didn’t happen, or luck is on the creature’s side that made it able to pull it off so smoothly to have a lot of silver wire in its collection now. She notices that the footprints here are easier to see compared to at the estate with how it has become more earth then grass everywhere, the strange footprints are more prominent here too. It makes her wonder how many legs this creature has, as it seems to leave behind more footprints with three toes then the two toed ones, she sees in it right after, that can’t be a coincidence at all. Going around the bushes that are in the middle of her path while she sees the footprints go under it, she wonders how much farther it is now. With how often the creature seems to have stolen from the owners of the estate, she can’t help but think that its home can’t be located all that far away. Not now that she has confirmed for a little while after seeing the first set of footprints that it is a creature that is the thief, and not one of the ten Races she could have been up against. Which is a relief, as she has little to worry about a creature trying to set up traps to protect its hoard.

She starts moving more cautiously when she is coming across more bushes, having to be careful in not brushing too roughly past it and making the noises that they do produce be even louder then the occasional branch that gets scraped against her coat or Taka’s body when she can’t prevent it. She has the most trouble with preventing Taka of doing such a thing that it would happen all the time, then she herself does it, but she is glad that at least Taka is following along and her curiosity on where they are going is keeping her quiet. She wonders if Taka might be thinking that they are hunting after prey as she starts seeing her crouch slightly while walking, her gaze fixated on what is going on in front of her, but also sniffing the ground the footprints seems be to particular deep in the earth, as if trying to pull all its weight against it. The footprints of the creature seem to be all over the place now as well, not just in what she thought was a straight line going to the estate building and away from it, but like she said, just all over the place with no clear goal insight. She wasn’t certain if it tried obscuring where it actually lived, or if this is something it does out of habit to perhaps look for food or water. She can’t tell the difference in these tracks, not when she isn’t even certain what type of creature she is going to face.

What might very well be fifteen minutes later while following the wire, and only loosing sight of it twice when it got obscured by the bushes in which direction the creature went to. She was able to find a hill with a large hole dug into it that seems to remind her of a cave. Slowly coming closer she aims her flashlight against it and sees the slight reflection of the silver wire leading directly into it. Touching the inside of the hole made her think it feels slightly damp, as if someone is splashing a little water daily on it without letting it become mud and risk the tunnel crashing down on it. ‘Perhaps it could be a creature that needs to keep its skin damp? Or at least not dry out?’ She knows there are at least a few species out there that have it as a requirement in order to survive. Letting go of Taka’s leash, she rummages in her coat pocket for a moment to grab a few treats and throw them on the ground near her, allowing Taka to move around more on her own, and sniff at the ground to locate the treats. She can see Taka wagging her tail when she locates the first one. Smiling she starts taking out the net from under her arm and unfolds it so that she can place it on top of the whole tunnel entrance as best as she can with just one hand while doing it quietly. She doesn’t know if the creature is still inside it, or left its cave. But she figures if it is the latter, preventing it from coming back and taking the equipment with it, will likely not be a such a good idea.

When she is done with that, she turns her attention momentarily at Taka, watching how she is focusing quite intently at finding all the treats she threw on the ground, her tail wagging every time she finds one of them. “Taka?” She says, catching her companion’s attention for a small moment. “Stay?” She tries, not certain if the previous owner had taught her to follow it unconsciously without deliberately training it her. She holds out her hand in a ‘stay’ motion, but Taka merely flicks one ear behind her head before focusing back on the treats again. ‘So long as she stays near the entrance, that’s good enough then I suppose.’ She muses as she starts walking farther away to a large tree trunk. She had once read about a technique to smoke a creature out of the cave system, and she feels like it would actually be a good idea to try it out herself as well, she uses the light of her torch to see if it got a lot of good branches to use for what she is planning to do next, and to her joy it did got quite a few she could snap right off it for firewood. Breaking off a couple of thick ones, she gathers them in one arm and brings it back to the tunnel entrance, where she drops it unceremoniously into a pile, taking the trip twice more, but only at the third trip did she set some of it aside from the larger pile. ‘This should be good enough, the largest pile of branches are only a meter across the tunnel entrance, just need to do this..’ She thinks while shoving the smaller pile further away, then puts the flashlight on the ground for a moment, taking out of her coat pockets anything of value, even some rope she has been keeping near her just in case, and putting that even farther away from the large pile of branches. She then takes off her coat and lays it down on the ground, out of the way for now.
She takes a deep breath of air, before letting it out. No turning back now, picking up the flashlight she aims it at the large pile of branches. “Taka, breath fire on that!” She snaps while pointing with a finger at the large pile of branches she has managed to gather. Taka looks up suddenly at hearing a familiar command, one that she knows was taught to her deliberately and has been making use of it whenever she does feel like following her command. She has a feeling that this time she won’t need to repeat herself continuously for it, and sees Taka flicking her ears back for a moment as she seems to take in where she needs to aim at. And when she does. The air lights up in an orange glow as she lets out a belch of flames on the branches. Catching fire almost immediately and allowing herself to feel the warmth of a campfire burning near her again. Putting the flashlight on the ground again, but a little bit away from the fire, she then picks up her coat and starts fanning the flames, bringing as much smoke as she can into the tunnel. Both of their attention is caught when after two minutes of repeatedly brining the smoke into the tunnels, they hear the sounds of a creature making loud squealing and clicking noises in distress coming from within it.

She stops fanning the flames with her coat, throwing it on the ground as she picks up the flashlight, Taka growls near her as she too seems to prepare for whatever beast is coming out from the tunnel as the noise starts to come closer. “Any moment now Taka.” She warns her companion, even if the creature tries to make an escape now, it still has to content with the net she puts up at the entrance. As soon as she had been thinking of that, the creature appeared and barrels out of the tunnel in distress, taking the net with it as it tries to avoid the flames so close to its skin, and trying to struggle out of the net. “Oh no you don’t!” She says while coming closer and placing her foot on the creatures back. Taka lets out a howl that surprises even her in the suddenness of it, and seems to terrify the creature even more with the situation that it is in. Freezing in place as it seems to stare with terrified eyes from what little she can see through the mesh of the net at Taka, trembling all the while. She squints as she sees something glimmer around the neck, and crouches slightly down as she takes a closer look, making sure not too put too much pressure on the creature’s back while doing so. ‘ Didn’t they also mention the thief stole some jewelry necklaces that where laid in the workshop?’ She wonders as she sees something that makes her think of a gold necklace that the creature is carrying around its neck. “Good job Taka.” She calls out to her companion after a moment of staring at the jewelry, and looking in her direction she sees Taka wagging her tail as it is raised high in the air, and her chest is pushed forward almost as if taking another deep breath. “Now we’ll just need to tie it up, and we can contact the owners.” She says with a smile towards Taka, gaining a gruff bark from her in reply.
