"Of course I could show you the old tomes, they're dusty and full of information, I sneeze when they're open, but they're rather interesting at least," Grace told him and started to walk by him, motioning for him to come with her back to the cavern, "My own brother has a healing breath, which I believe he inherited from our father, and it works nicely when he gets into a fight it seems." Teagan could be so rough and tumble it was surprising they were siblings! But she loved him dearly, of course, and couldn't imagine life without him at her side. They were the same size, same intelligence, and while they had a few different abilities, they completed each other. Anyone she brought home would have to go through Teagan's shrewd eyes. However, it was late enough and everyone was out of the cavern, so she could bring him home to see the books in peace.

Oh, he would love to see them, he thought. Yes, he would like to check through a few and find himself some nice spells to bolster his abilities. He didn't like the idea of being a brute or a blowhard if he didn't have to be... He didn't really like breathing fire, he leaned more on his cunning. "Oh, I could live without the dust, but the information; now intelligence is power, after all..." He said, thinking about what to say next as quickly as a regular individual would probably breathe. "A healing breath? Oh, he must not be a shalaya then, surely." He said, curiously. Of course, that logic was technically flawed, but it was leaning on the fact that she said that she had non-shalaya in her blood. Probably a Makiyan, right? "A makiyan then." He said, sure of it. He walked alongside her, wondering how he was going to drive this home soon, so to speak, and walking by her side.

"Oh of course it is," she said as she began her ascent up to the cavern, they weren't that far away after all, "The more a person knows, the better their hold on life. I'm surprised you need magic, with a breath ability!" Grace had to admit to the unladylike emotion of jealousy, she felt she deserved one, but maybe her intellect was the give and take of not having a breath ability. She supposed she could live with that, after all, but that wasn't the point of all of this, now was it? At least she had found a gentleman on her walk, she could have met up with any number of nasty brutes. "Yes, Teagan is a Makiyan, and his fire is green, actually, though paler than either of ours," she confirmed with a nod as she reached the cavern and pushed open the great wooden doors that barred their entry. Inside, she turned a knob on a lamp post and light flooded the room, thanks to her family's connections to the Human woman.

She was sounding more and more into this, into him at least, and he knew that soon he'd have her snared. He'd be able to do what he had been wanting to do for so long; create at least a little bit of a clan himself, or at least further his lineage... She was a pretty female, and smart, if not a little... Uh, not really paying enough attention to his slyness. He'd have to hope that his brood was clever, but not clever enough to see through him, just like her. Yes, she was excellent. "Oh, so you caught on! Yes, I uh, I breathe fire." He said, feigning embarrassment. "It is such a brutish practice!" He said, that little bit felt honest. "Such a lack of finesse, I wish that I had been blessed with something more minute." He admitted. Green fire, huh? And lighter then theirs, so that must have been the shalaya ancestry, surely. He followed her; a bit surprised at the lamp. It was quite nice, he thought. What a lovely den...

Grace smiled sympathetically at him and then shook her head, "Compared to my lack of ability, fire breath sounds lovely. Though it is said you don't know what you have until it's gone." Gingerly reaching out, she went to pat him softly on the shoulder before motioning him through to another, smaller cave in the system she called home. "This way to the library, there are plenty of tomes to read through if you would like. Teagan and the others may be home soon, but you are my guest and able to stay awhile if you would like," she told him, bowing her head a little as was polite to a guest of her cavern. "Our Patriarch is a Lashak, and he enjoys the finer things in life, though you wouldn't expect it from him. He isn't as smart as you or I, but he has a kind heart and I think the world of him," Grace told him as she entered the library and turned on the lights in there as well. Stacks and shelves of books lined the floors and walls, and she seemed a little shy as she turned to him, "I apologize for the mess, but we all use this room quite often."

He was glad that Grace was being sympathetic, but only so much that she was falling further into his web... Yes, there was no doubt to him that he wasn't ahead now, that she wasn't getting trapped by him. He was trying not to get too excited at his luck and success at that! However, he tried to look sympathetic to her as well. He would, after all, have to get her to come to the Clutch Temple with him after all, to get this to work. She seemed to respond better to politeness, though he could change as soon as he wanted. "That is true, I will have to think on it." He said. He followed her, nodding along as he did. "Oh, I would love to read them..." He said, calmly. "Though, you are quite beautiful... You know, I think I may prefer to see you..." He was about to pull the moves he had planned on her- and then, CURSE IT she said patriarch. AND Lashak. What? He full-body stopped and shuddered. Gross. Just like where he came from... Maybe he could 'steal' the girl and run, so to speak. He had to get back to normal, and well, she was seeming shy... "Oh no, all I can see is you, actually. Oh, I am too forward! I hope you don't mind, but you are just stunning in this light."

Grace stared for a moment, before she remembered it wasn't polite, and then she averted her eyes sadly. Was he upset she had a Patriarch of the family? Or was he upset that she followed a Lashak? It saddened her, but then she straightened up and smiled at him, "Izzy is a fine Lashak, he cares for all of us and supports us in any way he can. If it wasn't for him, the woman my brother and I came to from the Rookery would never have found us and brought us here. He goes there many times to play with the hatchlings, as I said, he is gentle and kind." She had to defend her patriarch, it was part of what she did in life. It wasn't his fault Lashak were, historically, not as smart as some of the others, but he made up for it in sweetness. Oh, but he was forward! She waved him away shyly, "Oh I'm sure once you start looking in the tomes you will forget me easily."

She was staring. Was it a good stare? A bad one? Should he be worried, of course? Oh, she had caught his stiffness at the patriarch thing, that was unbecoming of him, and man had he messed up. He was desperately running ninety to nothing trying to figure out what he was supposed to do to fix it. Fix it, FIX IT he screamed at himself internally. Izzy, huh? Well, at least he hadn't accidentally run right back into his own den, or anything like that. And she was a Rookery baby, her and her brother. Well, that had to have been good. He was getting more information, he could use this, goodness, he messed up. It wasn't like Mintaka wasn't kind, and that was the problem. He didn't want to be around a bunch of kind draconics, he wanted... Ugh, what did he want, anyway?! "I have heard a lot of good about the Rookery." He said, trying to keep the kindness act up, his heart hammering a voice shuddery suddenly. "But how could I forget you?" He said.

"The Rookery is a wonderful place, it held us for quite some time before Jack came along and we decided to go with her to this place. I couldn't imagine a better home," Grace told him with a smile, daintily reaching out to touch him on the cheek, if he allowed it. She enjoyed his company, even if he was a bit... odd. Smiling a little slyly, she looked at him, "I think you would get along with my brother, Teagan. He's also... sly." Turning to look through the tomes, she hoped she had 'thrown him a curve' as the woman would say for whatever reason, but it was going to be grand to see his reaction. Grace had her moments of being like Teagan as well, and she did like to see others squirm a little, though mostly because of her politeness than anything else at the moment. That's what was so intriguing about her, at least she seemed to think so.

He listened to her sweet song for a little while, trying to figure out if he liked the way it sounded or if he hated all of the kind drivel that was floating along it. Guh, he didn't know what to really do now, he didn't feel completely normal really anymore, he felt like he was on his back feet, so to speak. He felt like he probably should just go, before he messes up any further. However, she touched him on the cheek, and it did make him feel a little tingly. Huh, that was the uh, liking thing, right? Just that thing that happens when there's someone of the desired sex around, he was sure. That was all. "Teagan huh-" He started to say, and then she said sly. Oh shit. He screwed up, he screwed up bad, he thought about making a break for it, but instead... It made him interested. Really interested, for real, in her. She was smarter than she seemed, that was for sure. He was speechless, for once in his life.

Grace giggled and butted her head onto his shoulder, "It took me a few moments to get a read on you, but once you shuddered at the thought of Izzy, I knew... That's fine, however you are, I like you, no matter what." Her smile was genuine as she looked at him, then selected a book from a pile and laid it out in front of him, "Here, this is the one I study the most. Not fire spells, but water, which is interesting, I believe at least. Most would think a lady would take to healing, but I believe I am more agreeable to defensive positioning than anything." Settling back, Grace waited to see what happened, hoping beyond hope he would stay with her, at least for a little while. This was interesting, and she never would have thought this was the adventure for her when she had set out that fateful night.
