Lost Weald is Part of the Wiltholm Estate |
Pets Brought for a Visit: (None from elsewhere.) |
Impi'Wiltholm Estate's Impish Maiden' Pure Equillion Mare Level 2 | Fidelity 2
A spunky little lady that prefers to spend her autumn days dancing along the leaves and spooking others by popping out of the foliage and nipping them on the hind-end. She is not above luring individuals out to get even further lost in the gardens, and especially seems to have a knack for finding mazes in the brush. She likes to 'test' with her horn- be careful, or you might wind up lost and with a sore buttocks as her head is the perfect height for such shenanigans. An absolute terror of a foal that is both bombproof and hard-headed, easily frustrated and endlessly laser-focused, prone to outburst of emotion and going her own way instead of being lead. Thankfully, she is clever, and loyal to those that earn it. Morgan may have a chance yet. Stamina: 3 Strength: 2 Resistance: 3 Dexterity: 4 Mentality: 3 Special Abilities: Light Immunity, Shadow Immunity, Earth Immunity, Botanical Growth, Enigmatic, Illness, Faerie Fault: Iron Moves: Buck, Bound, Rapid Bloom, Regenerate, Leaf Storm Magic (currently unknown):

Kodama Neuter Chichi Level 0 | Fidelity 0
A small, creepy child that enjoys watching individuals that enter the garden from atop the twisted roots of the great strangler fig tree in the center of the forest. Kodama will tilt their head one way, and then the other, and then back again many times. Kodama enjoys emitting a strange rattling noise, which is apparently made by drumming the little 'toes' on hollow wood. The effect is quite chilling, especially since the creature is otherwise quite adorable. It refuses to make any noises otherwise and does not generally interact with non-bipedal beings. The assumption is that it is attracted to those that may feed it. ButtonbuckMale Button Pheasant Pachee Level 0 | Fidelity 0
Found at the end of one Fall season and into the Winter season still lean, this poor creature was probably not going to have a stash large enough to survive the winter. Morgan managed to befriend him and build him a warm shed on the property that he can go into and out of. He also is fed on a regular basis now. He is very small and quite brave despite it, and loves to beg for food. He is scarcely bodily bigger than Kodama! The two play often, and Buttonbuck is protective of Kodama. Despite his size, he knows exactly where to put the thorns when the need arises. Stamina: 3 Strength: 2 Resistance: 1 Dexterity: 3 Mentality: 1 Special Abilities: Chlorophyll Moves: Tail Slap, Pollen Dust, Thorns | Perdita Female Lotine Level 4 | Fidelity 4
Poor unfortunate Perdita, beautiful but troubled. It is believed that because Perdita's mother was 'sorrowful' when her berry was formed, that she is forever locked into a melancholy expression. Beautiful Perdita is quite stunning to look at with her painted coat and bright blue eyes, but something about her countenance just looks so sad. She tends to stay hidden from others, and is a shy creature by nature. Perdita understands perhaps quite a bit more than the others in the garden, but she is universally beloved by all of Morgan's Tat-lungs, and she quite likes them. Cunning: 5 Sentient Average Top Speed: 5 mph, 35 mph (swimming) Power Levels: 3 Notes: Gains a +5 bonus to Dexterity when in the water Stamina: 3 Strength: 4 Resistance: 2 Dexterity: 3 Mentality: 3 Special Abilities: Swim, Danger Sense, Chlorophyll Moves: Constrict, Deceptive Lure (Perdita is permanently paired with Koyo the Lolatic.) -> | Walnut Female Leaf-Scatter Level 0 | Fidelity 0
Walnut loves nothing more than to sleep in the sunshine, or crawl among the roots of the older trees in the garden. She has a bit of a picky and finicky personality, but does like to be petted. On her own terms, at least. Whenever she feels threatened, she runs to Muninn for protection! Muninn Male Greater Dragon-Oak Level 0 | Fidelity 0
Muninn is a reflective creature, and grumpy by nature. He nests in the huge strangler fig in the middle of the garden, the roots covered by fly amanita caps and bleeding tooth fungus. He prefers to watch others from a rather high perch, and only ever accepts the company of Kodama. Perhaps he will warm up to Morgan eventually? He covets above all things those that are shiny, to add to his collection hidden deep within the cavernous roots of the tree. He is a surprisingly sensitive creature. Cunning: 3 Animal Average Top Speed: 15 mph, 40 mph (flying) Power Levels: 4 Stamina: 6 Strength: 6 Resistance: 4 Dexterity: 3 Mentality: 1 Special Abilities: Fly, Cold Weakness, Acid Weakness, Earth Resistance Moves: Breathe Fire, Claw, Wing Buff | Blair Female Nahele Level 0 | Fidelity 0

Morgan wasn't planning on coming out to the garden for a little while longer, mostly because they were waiting on the items they needed to be able to actually get the garden up and going. Right now, it was... Well, a bit of a tangle. Lost for sure. Morgan had been considering paying someone to get it into tip-top shape before they started, but eh. Morgan heard that the King Evergreens were producing berries this month, and they were not going to waste that opportunity. They did want to utilize the time that they had to figure out how to get those berries. Morgan quietly enters the garden, closes up the gate, and then sighs. Time to find the big ole ugly thing. Morgan had made sure that there were plenty of food sources out here before letting the creatures that lived here out here, and of course had folks coming by to check on things in the meantime...

Everything was fine, of course. Apparently the King Evergreen Morgan had dubbed 'Matsuba' liked to stalk along the brook as it ran into some pine trees; go figure. The fall tones of the garden were already gone this year; most of the trees had shed their leaves. It was a big mess, everywhere. Morgan would have to get a rake and see what they could do about that. They frowned, and walked along the little brook, trying not to trip over any of the jagged rocks that were along the way. They were actually broken-up bits of old ceramics; but they were large enough that they looked nice instead of completely trashy. Morgan was going to have to decide how much they cared about cleaning these up along the time. Eventually, they made their way to that stand of pine trees, and there he was. That... Strange humanoid goblin looking thing.

He was an ugly little thing, for sure. Morgan squinted at him, looking him up and down for a second to make sure he had no injury. "Well, no injuries, it looks like." Morgan said, tilting their head and jotting something down on the little paper pad that they had brought. "That is good." Really, Morgan should probably go and look for all of the other creatures in the garden to make sure that they were fine, but the sight of a few berries produced by the creature practically drew Morgan in like a lantern at night does most flying bugs. However, Morgan knew better than to come by close to him at the moment, since they weren't very close at the moment. Morgan frowned tapped the end of the pen on the pad, trying to figure out what to do to try to get him to drop at least a single bunch of these.

Morgan had brought a good set of bags, a lot of them that were connected, in order to put in any samples of anything that could be used for Morgan's future studies. That was the most important thing that Morgan could think of doing, right now. It was better if they kept a personal stock of such items for a long while in order to be able to do experiments on the fly. "Now what to do..." Morgan mumbled, brow furrowed a bit. They weren't sure if they should cause any sort of stress in him; that would cause some issues, right? It probably wouldn't be good to do something like chasing him around or anything. Worse, it was cold outside, and Morgan was shivering despite their lab coat. Ugh, couldn't be a worse time of year for this, in Morgan's opinion... Then again, Morgan disliked excess heat a little more.

Well, at least these things don't drop their berries during the summer, then. Morgan frowned at that though, looking across the brook at the so-called King of Evergreen. It wasn't hard to tell why he was called that, Morgan guessed. He was green and brown, with an almost wood-like smoothness on the brown parts, and a large pointy green mass of what could only be considered 'pine needles' on the torso of the beast. He was leaned against a gnarly old stick like an elder man or something, but there was no way he was very old. It was weird, seeing it actually. These creatures were not at all sentient, to Morgan's knowledge, but they looked so humanoid that it was just distracting. It made it really hard to consider the possibilities of holding him down and extracting the berries... Naw, Morgan wouldn't do that. If only because he was so humanoid looking.

Morgan would have to figure out how to get the Pine... King thing to get close enough to them in order to hopefully pick up the much-desired berries, however, Morgan was also going to have to start looking for herbs and such that they needed for future botany work. They really... Didn't like botany work as much as they thought that they would have. Honestly it was not as interesting as chemistry, and certainly didn't have the breadth that biology did. In fact, Morgan vastly preferred working with machines. However, botany was very useful when it came to working with magic, and Morgan figured that perhaps they might be in the same future science, whenever people finally started studying magic as if it was a science and not some kind of dumb mythology thing. Morgan frowned, and glanced down into the water. The pine monarch leaned over his stick and watched Morgan with wary eyes.

Morgan glanced up, and looked into his eyes. Yeah, they were green or something. Morgan could hardly tell from here save for a stray sunbeam that hit one of his eyes. Morgan wondered vaguely if plants actually had a sex. Like some of them did; Morgan remembered something about cherry trees, but also they had never really seen anyone say not to pick up a specific plant creature based on it's sex. They all seemed to produce nuts, or berries, or whatever else that was useful, so maybe it didn't matter because they all technically had the same one? Morgan had no idea. Morgan didn't even really know how they bred or anything. Perhaps that would have been an interesting field of study? Instead, Morgan has to stand here, on the other side of a brook that could easily be stepped over by either of the two of them, trying to keep him from being frightened off.

Morgan jotted down a few things over the next couple of minutes, a little shocked that the pine king spent so much time standing in one spot. For a bipedal being, he was sure not ambling around a lot. Maybe that was what the stick was for? It was kind of odd seeing a creature of non-sentience using some kind of tool, even if it was a really simple one. Morgan wondered if they could be trained to use the stick as a weapon or anything like that? Who really knew. Morgan wanted to know, though, but it sounded like a waste of time. Plenty of creatures had 'technically' opposable areas for holding things and yet just couldn't learn much of anything for some reason. Morgan had no idea why; but ah well Morgan thought. They jotted this down too, and placed a question mark at the end of it for further consideration later on.

Morgan was sure that they may not actually manage to get him to drop some of his berries, but maybe he would drop them anyway if they ever got him started. It would probably be pretty easy to get him to drop a ton of them if they could just manage to get him to drop the first few without him being too stressed... Real big mess, real big mess indeed. However, they hoped anyway. It may have to be a month-long endeavor... Morgan groaned; they really didn't have time for that. Between the job and the mansion and a ton of other stuff they needed to do this month, they may not have the time to really do this. However, it did make Morgan realize that they needed to make some kind of a possible consideration for all the things that they needed to do each month. They were, after all, getting a regular work schedule...

It was something that Morgan needed to do soon, anyway. However, they were absolutely determined to get their pine king to drop at least one set of berries today if they are lucky. They weren't going to leave unless they absolutely had to, and there was already a lot of stuff that they needed to do later on today. The quest board was one of them... Perhaps Nico would be able to come with them? That would be exciting, Morgan had missed him severely all month last month! However, it had been worth it, he had won in a landslide. It was hard to deny the fact that Nico was Morgan's absolute favorite beast beyond all else. He was excellently trained and would continue to be so. Morgan wasn't planning on putting him into another obedience contest again though... It wouldn't be fair to others. Morgan didn't normally care about that kind of thing.
The pine king stood there, his tail held close to the ground to help steady him as he watched Morgan serenely.

Undoubtedly, this would be an incredibly difficult task all in all. Morgan was already frustrated with it, but that was just part of being the chaotic being that they had become. They still had not managed to come completely to terms with it, and it was a shame. Morgan really enjoyed the structure of their life; but the desires to be more spontaneous (among other things) had been difficult at best to weather. Morgan couldn't help but slip a bit into their mind as they stared out at this pine... Whatever it was. Morgan could not for the life of them remember the pretentious name this beast was given. It probably didn't help that Morgan had selected a name for it; Matsuba, which meant pine needle. Morgan shook their head, staring out at it quietly as it stared back at them with verdant green eyes that were deep pools in the bark-y exterior.

Morgan did want those berries; pretty harshly in fact, but at some point they were hoping to get this whole place completely set up for the growth of all sorts of rare plants. It was important that they had a good source of all of these things, for future SCIENCE. Morgan didn't really have the things that they needed in order to do that yet, sadly; they should have been here already, right? Still, for now, they could focus completely on Matsuba... the pine thingie. Pine was perhaps a good name for the species, but Morgan was thinking more like... Pine elf, or pine dwarf. But this monarch, prince, king, nonsense was ridiculous and made it difficult to remember the name of the species. They were labs-created though, right? Why didn't the labs create more species that would drop this important berry set though? It seemed like it would be tantamount.

The Labs really did not make any sort of sense for Morgan, at the very least. They knew that something had to be going on beneath the surface of it, and that was what they were wanting to find... Darn it, Morgan thought, they hadn't been able to answer a single one of their questions, so far! It was quite a mess, and Morgan was convinced that at some point, they would try to get to the 'bottom of it'. Morgan was convinced that the labs had some kind of better understanding of magic than the general populace; perhaps some kind of scientific understanding of it. Perhaps that was the reason why no other species was engineered to produce this specific kind of berry? What sort of species was used as a base gene set for this, anyway? Perhaps that was the answer. The pair stood on both sides of the brook; and Morgan thought.
