She was bored, bored, bored. Jack hadn't been around in awhile, not that she blamed her, she was busy! But there were new hatchlings in the cavern and it made her want her own. Again. She had never had any, but that was fine, she would meet someone eventually, everyone kept telling her that much, especially her dad, Izzy. He was a sweet guy, but she was smarter than he was, not that it really mattered, she just wanted to find someone and settle down maybe. Who knew, it was going to be rough for awhile, but at least she wanted hatchlings. So the Lashak was on the prowl for awhile, she wasn't going to breed with anyone in the cavern, that was just... weird. She shivered a little, but maybe whoever she found would move in with them afterwards, that would be good. Ember wandered down to the river bed and stared into it, tail twitching a bit as she watched for any fish that might come her way. 1/25

Anuin was quite and calm, or at least he wanted to be. Life was not exactly easy in his home, not after his younger sibling came to the old lair of their father. He wasn't really wanting to stay; for one, it was crowded there. For two, his father had went to live in a different clan, and well; why shouldn't he? His little sibling annoyed him somewhat, anyway. He came down to the river and looked down into it, touching his claw down to the river, watching the waters for any sort of fish living nearby. He liked to get his own food whenever he could. It wasn't always fish, but that was the easiest. He wished he were like the water, easy flowing. But he wasn't, not at all. Was anyone, really? He turned away, looking for fish in a different place, and suddenly felt like someone was nearby. A golden lashak; not too far away. [2]

Snaking her head forward, she snapped a fish out of the water and gulped it down before she wiped her mouth off and looked around. A green Shalaya was down the way from her, and she tilted her head. She'd learned how to speak long ago thanks to Jack, and Shalaya were pretty intelligent, at least it would seem so thanks to all of the ones that now lived in the cavern. Since when could they have such large clans anyway? She shook her head, it didn't matter, but she was social enough, so she wandered over slowly and then finally called from across the river, "Hello there!" It was interesting what kinds of Draconics would gather where, maybe she would do a study on it at some point. Sure, some things went over her head, but that happened to everyone, didn't it? She shook her head, she didn't know, but that was alright at the same time.

The shalaya was both surprised at seeing someone else so close that he hadn't noticed, and also kind of shocked that this person could... Talk. Huh, weren't lashak pretty 'gifted in heart'? "And a-toodloo-to-you too." He said, snarkishly, and then moved over closer to downstream from her, since she obviously had a better spot for fish if she was able to get one. He tried his best to ignore her as he waited for a fish; but he missed the next one that went by. He harrumphed, moved slightly closer, still intently focused on the water below. If she wasn't already in this spot... He probably would have got that fish. Still, hopefully she wouldn't try to swat at him or something. That's what lashak were like, right? Harsh brutes, at times. He wasn't exactly hoping for this when he went out to go find a good meal for himself.

Her face fell, but only into annoyance. "Alright then... since you can't manage, here you go," Ember snorted, and swiped a fish effortlessly onto the bank at his feet. She smiled prettily for a moment, though it was more of a leer at the moment, her tail twitching a bit. Sure, she didn't understand some things, but Lashak were pretty good and understanding when they were being snubbed. If he wasn't going to try, then let him be an ass by himself, she figured, turning away and wandering back to her spot for a little while. Her eyes took in the water for a bit, occasionally glancing over at the male Shalaya a few times, before she settled in and got herself another fish, content to fish in peace a bit. Maybe he'd see her in a different light now, but probably not. She just wanted to scope out the area for Jack as well though.

If Anuin could have snarled or wrinkled up his nose, he would have done so. The lashak seemed to have had some sort of annoyance at him (that is what he was going for) but when she grabbed him a fish, he was both pleasantly shocked and then immediately not happy about it. She was quite good, but he was a bit insulted; if only somewhat. "What makes you think I can't manage?" He said. Not taking the fish right away. However; it was going to slip away, if he didn't so he made a face but grabbed it anyway. He probably would have flushed in embarrassment had he not been a shalaya. He wasn't sure what to think of her, and he wasn't sure if he wanted to have to figure it out. Cold feet, they always called him. Yeah, not any more. He'd deal with this, for now. The shalaya quietly eats the fish.

"Because you haven't managed yet, princess," Ember said sweetly, batting her eyes at him. She then snorted a little bit and shook her head, he could sulk if he wanted to, but she didn't know what else to do at the moment. All she could do was keep fishing, she was big enough to warrant a few more fish, right? He was pretty big himself, as big as she was at this point, which was surprising for a Shalaya. Just what was he anyway? He had to have some Lashak blood in him she figured, he wasn't green enough to be a Malavos, was he? She tilted her head and stared at him before shaking her head and swiping up another fish. Hmm, if he was going to be an ass... She swiped him another fish just in case and chuckled under her breath a little bit. It was pretty funny though, she had to give it that much.

Ah; so two could play at this game, he thought, and of course he would be much better at it. She batted her eyes at him, and immediately he was embarrassed, but he felt an incentive to start a game of it, instead of actually getting upset enough to leave. He had to win! "Not everyone has a big ole bitey mouth either." He said, forcing himself not to stick his tongue out at her. He focused more sharply on the water now, and then; there was one! He slapped at the fish, knocking it out of water, and then descended upon it himself; having finished the other fish quickly. "Ha, look at this one. About your size." He said, dropping it on the ground (flopping much less now that he'd killed it). "Maybe a bit bigger than yours?" He said, waggling his brow a bit. Perhaps not right to say to a female, but ah well.

Ha! Bigger, maybe, but he hadn't gotten two. They were neatly in front of her and she put her paws on them daintily and smirked, "Ah, but more is better, right?" The smirk grew into a wider grin and then she laughed a little and batted another fish out of the river. "Three! Or can you beat me?" Ember asked, eyes sparkling happily. If she found someone to play with, no matter how odd they were, maybe things would work out for her in the long run after all. She didn't know what she was looking for in a playmate, or a real mate, but that didn't matter at the moment did it? Giving a shrug, she realized it didn't really matter, she would have whatever happened and be happy with it. Still though, she was having fun, even with the innuendo that was occurring. Ah well, Jack said it was like this sometimes.

Oh-ho now she was really pushing it! He showed his teeth, but this time it was actually playful. He was having a little bit of fun, but he was trying not to belie that. "More isn't always better- would ya rather have a whole crapload of junk or one gold bar?" He said, and then he shot down after another. Maw full of something, he rose back up, but this time it seemed that it was a starfish, and not a fish. He found that it's little 'legs' were kinda stuck in his mouth and he spat a bunch, trying to get it dislodged. Eventually, he was able to spit it out, and then he immediately tried to get the taste off of his tongue. "Yuck, yuck." he mumbled, and then he glanced up at the female. Oh crap, he probably looked pretty dumb right there, in that moment.

She laughed a little at him as he fought the starfish, and she smiled playfully, "And that's what happens when you try to be better than me. Face it, you're losing." She sauntered off a little ways and then glanced back at him, "Besides, you've not found a shark or anything, have you?" Her tone was sickly sweet and she batted her eyes at him again, playing with him, not fully flirting, just having fun with him. He was handsome, that wasn't lost on her, but still, that didn't mean much to her in the long run. She was after someone with intelligence, and she wasn't sure this Shalaya had that, really. Ah well, she supposed it didn't matter, but whatever happened. It might be a good thing they met, at least they were having fun with each other it seemed, though he was a little... sarcastic? She didn't really know if that was right or not though.

The shalaya was embarrassed, obviously, but he had to admit to himself that he was having... fun. He spent a lot of time doing things that weren't really simple like this, and it was nice to be back down to earth every once in a while. Hmm... Better than her? "Hmphh." He said, audibly, making a bigger deal out of it for the effect. "Fine then, we shall call a truce for now. Besides, my starfish is positively-" He stopped for a second, and then looked at her. "Out of this world." Then he winked. At that, he gave her a mock incredulous look. "A shark? Really? How often do those even go this far upriver?" He'd heard of it, but never really seen one before. Besides, weren't those quite big anyway? He didn't know how large, but it sounded like entirely too much meat.

Ember couldn't help it, she rolled her eyes and groaned at the Shalaya, who she didn't even know the name of yet! Huh, that had to be fixed later on, but she didn't know how to bring it up to where it kind of flowed in the conversation. Still, there wasn't much conversation, just innuendo and flirting, which worked, she supposed. "There's plenty of sharks, they run at least five to six feet long, longer if you're lucky. I come with the human sometimes to fish, and she manages to catch quite a few things too," she told him. She didn't want to let him in on how close they were, they were basically bonded, but not quite, something just always seemed to stop Jack at that point, which Ember didn't mind, it gave her more time to care for her father. At least they were better than the whales that came upriver sometimes, but she didn't want to mention those.

Honestly, five to six feet long did not sound very big. Listen to the old draconics tell their 'fish tales' and man, you'll probably hear more than you bit off. Still, the thought of it made Anuin chuckle under his breath. "You gotta listen to the old dodders talk about 'em, they'd make you believe the sharks were twenty feet and counting." He said, a bit casually, even for him. However, he was starting to feel a little more comfortable. He would try to catch another fish, but in all honesty the starfish had kinda made him feel a bit sick, 'out of this world' or no. "You have a human friend?" He said, bewildered, silvery eyes flashing. "There was one draconic, where I lived, that also roomed with a human, but I hardly ever saw the thing. It was one of those... Furry humans." He said, trying to find the word. "Your human furry or anything weird like that?"
