"Oh yeah, you should hear my father talking. He's one of the old ones," she chuckled a little and laid down next to the river, her head resting on her front feet, "You can only believe what you see though." She sighed happily and looked up at the sky, it looked like it might rain soon, but she wasn't sure about that. Maybe it would be snow? Shaking her head a little, she wondered what was going to happen soon, if they could get along... Ember looked over at him and shook her head when he asked that, "Nope, normal human, nothing crazy about her or anything. She's the one who taught me how to talk..." She trailed off a little, she didn't want to admit that she wasn't the brightest, that it had taken some time for her to talk like this, and even now she had a little trouble sometimes. Oh well, that was something for another time, if they even saw each other again.

Her father, huh? He hadn't really thought about that, but yeah; she was kinda pale for a lashak. Could have been a kitava, but who knows? "Ah, still living with ole pops?" My pops was never around, he thought, but he swallowed that down. Maybe he'd meet him, someday? Try to have a relationship of some kind with him. Still wasn't going to keep him from snarking at this lady though! Then again, she said something about her human teaching her to speak. That makes sense, though he hadn't necessarily needed that help himself. Pretty common for Shalaya to be that way. "Ah, did your pops speak common too?" He asked, curiously. It was actually a bit genuine; it seems that he has forgotten his snark for now anyway. Perhaps he was beginning to warm up to her? Surely not, she wasn't the first draconic he'd ever met, but most of them, ah, didn't last this long around him.

Wait, was that a bad thing? Her head popped up a little and she shook her head a little, "Yeah I still live with him, he's one of the old ones, maybe one of the oldest ones around anymore I'd say. I help take care of him when he needs it, he's a little... simple..." She winced when she said it, she hated thinking that way of her father, but he spoke so little Common, but at the same time he seemed so wise at times, but he was never frustrated with things being the way they were for him, while she was frustrated with her lot in life sometimes. "He speaks a little Common, but that's about it. He's one of the original Lashak to populate the canyon," Ember said proudly, straightening up a little as she said it. She came from a proud line, and while her mother was gone, though she had never met her, she was proud of her father and all he stood for.

Oh, she winced. For once, he kinda felt... Bad. Yeah, that was bad. He found that he didn't really want to upset her, and he had really poked where it hurt, didn't he? At least a little bit. "Oh, uh- well, I mean most have large clans." He said, trying to correct his mistake. Not exactly a good idea, that. "Ah, so he's blessed." He said, nodding. That was what he had been taught, anyway. It wasn't a bad thing to be blessed, though having human companions tended to make those who are 'blessed' feel under appreciated quite a bit. "Oh wow, your pop is a founder?" He said, this time with real interest. "Never met a founder before, though I listen to older draconics pretty often." Mostly because they don't tend to pay his smart mouth any mind but, well. "Might have to listen to a story or two, sometime." He said.

Oh now he looked like he felt bad. Well... he might have to, but she didn't feel that way often, and she sighed a little, settling back down again, the tip of her tail twitching from side to side. "Yeah, he's a founder," Ember said proudly with a smile, and then she tilted her head, "You... want to meet Dad?" It was interesting to think of that, he had to be a lot smarter than she was, and definitely a lot smarter than her dad was, but if he was willing to listen... "By the way... I'm Ember," she said, offering a clawed foot to shake like some of the humans did. She was very human-like, not that it was a bad thing, but she had learned a lot from Jack over the years, and it was fine at the same time. She chuckled a little at the thought of it, he didn't seem very interested in the thought of having a human around, but maybe he'd come around a little.

This was... Not how he planned his day to go; but really, it could be worse. He stared down semi-nervously for once at the water, trying to distract himself a bit, and then he finally nods to her. "Sure, I like old folks. Good stories, even if they repeat a bit sometimes." He said, managing a genuine smile before he realized that he was in fact showing genuine emotion and that wasn't something he wanted to get anyone used to. "Ember, huh? Well, I'm Anuin." He said. He really hadn't told her his name until now, he realized. Ember did suit her, really. He stared down at the water just a bit longer, mostly so that she hopefully wouldn't catch him looking at her reflection. He was a bit embarrassed to actually look at her, too much. Golden, pretty pale-scales... And green. A really nice green, and pretty eyes. And she was clever.

Things seemed to be going well between them, at least she seemed to have found a new friend, if nothing else. He was handsome, and she had to hand it to him, he gave her something entertaining to do at the moment. She grinned a little when he finally introduced himself and then nodded. "Well Dad doesn't do much these days aside from watch the hatchlings the others have brought home. I'm sure he wouldn't mind you dropping by?" she offered, glancing into the water herself for a moment or two. It seemed a little awkward finally, she wasn't sure why, but that was fine too. At least she had some idea of what was going on, but she needed to figure out what she was doing with herself for a moment. She felt oddly drawn to him, though she didn't know why at this point, and the female smiled again, wondering what he would say.

Hatchlings... The Others? Ah, so she did have a large family. He was pretty good at figuring these things out from social cues, at the very least. Anuin finally looks up from the water, as if finally giving up on the fish, and remembers that he has forgotten to put the starfish back in the water! Woops. He pushes the starfish back into the water. Those could survive longer outside of it, if he remembered right. No need in killing if he wasn't going to eat it, and that was that. "I, I think I'd like that." He said, nodding in a bit of shame. "I'd like to come by and see you, too, sometimes? I think you keep up with me pretty well. I wouldn't mind a banter buddy sometimes." Cringe, inward cringe. Could he even hear himself right now? Geeze, what was wrong with him anyway today?

Another chuckle, "Well, you've kept me on my toes at least, and I hope I've done the same for you." She looked over at him slyly and then nudged him with a foreleg, "Dad would be happy to meet you. Want to go now, or are you busy still trying to beat me in fishing?" Ember teased him a little before looking up at the sky, definitely snow in the future, maybe it was a bad thing she couldn't breathe fire like her father could, at least then she could set something on fire and keep herself warm or something. She sighed a little, she was jealous of things, maybe that's why the woman wouldn't Bond with her. But she didn't think she was that shallow. "You know, you remind me of some of the Draconics back home too, maybe you could meet them at the same time? I think they'd all be thrilled I brought someone home for once..."

Definitely, she'd definitely kept him on his toes. "Toes, me? Naw." He wiggled them around for emphasis. "That's only because I have to stand on them; being a shalaya and all." He had to snicker at his own joke, there. It wasn't mean-spirited there, this time. He glanced down at the water. "I think I've done enough fishing today. Can't top a starfish." He said. "After you?" He whispered, feeling a little hot in the face again all of a sudden. Today had been an odd day, and he wouldn't mind listening to a few stories in the meantime. "Oh? Others that look like me?" He questioned. He wasn't sure if he'd seen others that looked like him closely other than his sibling, Demure. Maybe he could get acquainted with a new group at least, meeting new people wasn't bad. He rather enjoyed it, sometimes. Only if they could deal with him, though.

"And a giant one at that. It's a wonder you can stand on your toes," she teased as she stood up and shook herself off a little, "Come on then." Turning, she started to lead him out from by the river and up toward the canyon, to a very old cavern with lights all around it from the human woman who lived with them from time to time. Ember smiled as she looked around at the family she had grown to love and then glanced back to make sure Anuin was still there, "Hey Dad, this is Anuin." Ember smiled when the older Lashak beamed at them both, as though he knew something she didn't. He took some getting used to sometimes, but it was all good natured, and she was sure he would fit in with the rest of them no matter what. Imagine if they were his actual family too?
