Nestled in a roomy cavern oasis in the middle of the canyon, you will find all of the Draconics without a family to call home. They come from all over: to rest here, to grow here, and to possibly one day join the community with a human partner. They are not sad or lonely, abandoned or abused, quite the opposite! They are free to come and go as they please, but most tend to stick around to pursue hopes and dreams in a safe place, or perhaps just wanting to meet that special human. Some even serve as babysitters! The mountainous cliffs protect the oasis on three sides, and a path leading to the front of the grotto is the only entrance. A small stream trickles down from above, the gentle flow of water filling the air. Some vegetation is brave enough to grow here, reaching for the sun that filters down. It is guarded by a beautiful Draconic known as Acethylka, and she is eager to greet any visitor. ---- Form: Please note, the form is just an OOC formality; for RP purposes, your character wanders in to befriend a Draconic. Your name: Your username Draconic: ID or name of the Draconic Canyon Home: link of your Canyon Home Do you have plans for your friend?: Why are you interested in this Draconic? (In or out of character.) To adopt: - Fill out the form (OOC) and put it in your first roleplay post. - Wait for Acethylka to greet you. - Roleplay as much as you'd like with your chosen Draconic(s) until you feel like you are ready. - Put a note in your post that you are ready for Acethylka to overlook your bonding. - If Acethylka approves of the adoption, she will send you your new Draconic via PM. If not, you will be asked to make a few more posts to improve the bond before leaving. Note: Every player is limited to adopting 3 Draconics at a time, no matter which section they come from.

Your name: Leafy Draconic: WCanyon Home: Beyond The CosmosDo you have plans for your friend?: I have never raised a baby Draconic before and I want to develop a bond with one from a young age in order to learn more about the species. I also need a Draconic that will grow to understand who I am and help me to make the correct choices in life. I want someone who I can teach about the world, but who I can also learn from. We would be able to go through and discover and experience life together. Leafy was beginning to understand that Draconics were a lot different than the other creatures she had. For the most part, they were smarter than her and could be incredibly bossy as Katarina had taught her. Leafy wanted to get a hatchling, but if she were being honest, Katarina would most probably end up being the one most responsible for it. After all, Leafy had no experience with baby Draconics! If she had no one to help, she would probably reconsider raising a baby, but with Katarina's help, the kid was certain to turn out at least sort of okay. The Rookery was a rather daunting place. There was no telling where the little hatchlings would be hiding, or if they would even be together in a single place. A stunning Draconic guarded the entrance and Leafy gulped down the anxiety that was tickling her throat. If she wanted a chance to go and meet a baby Draconic, she would need to prove her worth. At least that was how she supposed these sorts of things would go. "Hello there. My name is Leafy and I'm looking for a new family member." Leafy grinned toothily as she spoke. It was better to convey confidence even if she did feel incredibly nervous. Nervous was similar to fear and she had been told that showing fear was about the worst thing you could do in front of something scary.

Your name: Touj Draconic: C and U (let me know if I can't do both at once!) Canyon Home: Crystal CavernDo you have plans for your friend? Why are you interested in this Draconic? I want to grow my draconic family! I currently only have one draconic, and i want to spend more time rping in the canyon: I want to expand characters I can interact with! Plus, getting to explore new family dynamics is always a lot of fun.
Touj never stopped being amazed by the Canyon of Eterra. In some ways, it made him nostalgic: the wide vistas and clear skies reminded him of home so much it sometimes hurt. But in other ways, the Canyon couldn't be more different- he was reminded of that sharply as he made his way down the cliffside path towards an oasis full of greenery and fresh water. He wiped a sheen of sweat from his forehead as he surveyed the cave entrance. "The Rookery." he took a minute more to gaze into the brightened cave, seeing movement and hearing voices inside before shaking his head and going forward. "Right. Time to make some new friends." He entered the grotto with an air of confidence bigger than he felt. With slow, sure steps and shoulders straight, Touj looked around the open area with a smile. He was sure there would be draconics interested in making a home with Josiiu and him in the Canyon here, waiting for someone right to come along that they got along with. His smile turned more genuine. As a laid-back and fairly charismatic guy, he was sure he could get to know some of the Rookery residents and get someone to come back to the Cavern with him. With that mindset, he ventured further into the cave. "Hello! Is anyone around?" Touj called out.

[Leafy's Reply]
Acethylka was quite surprised to hear someone come to the door, though not baffled. There had been many visitors, at times. Some were good candidates for a new family member, though some were certainly not. The draconess sized up the individual before her, her great eyes turned down to her. "A new family member." She mused, her long tail twitching at the end. "How many do you have in your family? She had to ask, there were requirements on how many draconics lived with humanoids, for the safety of everyone. Just beyond her, a few of the older draconics stood watching, curious. Many of the older draconics had been there a while. Most humanoids tended to want babies, after all. Acethylka was very protective, but especially so with the baby draconics. The babies were the most easily manipulable and required the best guardians. Acethylka did want to find homes for all of the ones under her care, but not just any homes. She wanted them to have good homes. - [Touj's Reply] Acethylka was surprised to get another one so quickly, the Rookery had been very quiet for some time. It hadn't been too long after the last individual had come and went. She could hear someone calling out, and was a bit concerned. The great draconess made her way to the great rookery door and then sized up the humanoid before her. "Yes, there are plenty here. She tsked, her tail flicking at the tip. "Please do make care, there are young ones here." The little ones would certainly not be used to loud noises. A couple of the older draconics milled around not too far away, keeping an eye out. Most of the adults had been here for a long while, some were not sure they would ever find a suitable home. She would care for them, until then.

“I have two Draconics in my family right now! There’s Ghiscar and Katarina. Ghiscar’s a good protector. He’s a Malavos so he’s pretty strong and loyal. Katarina is a Nanaiyesh. She’s a lot smarter than me and she’s really loving. I feel like they’re really good at taking care of themselves. I got them both when they were already fully grown, so I’ve been considering maybe seeing if there was a Draconic that needed somewhere safe to grow up.” Leafy scratched sheepishly at the back of her head. “It would be kind of nice if there was a Draconic out there that needed me for a change, rather than me needing them. If that makes sense.”
Letting Leafy raise a Draconic alone was likely not the best idea. The girl could be impatient and absentminded, but she had successfully raised creatures to adulthood before. Her heart was in the right place, even if logically she wasn’t the most responsible of people. Katarina would be around to pick up the slack. She would be there for the emotional nurturing while Leafy was there for the adventure.

The draconess watches as the young humanoid explained her draconic family. Draconic relationships with humanoids were complex, but she had been the guardian here for a very long time. Acethylka knew that it was common for draconics to help raise their younger siblings in the family. "Yes. That is quite fine." She says, turning back and opening up the way for the humanoid to enter the Rookery. "Feel free to come in." She knew there were so many of her wards that needed homes, and this humanoid seemed to have good intentions.
"The youngest ones are further in the back." She was still not surprised that most individuals preferred to pick up the youngest. The older draconics standing off to the side watched curiously, some of them beginning to return to whatever they were doing beforehand. Acethylka goes to lead the humanoid to the younger draconics, carefully closing the rookery door with her tail once everyone was safely clear of the door.

Acethylka was kind to Leafy and the girl appreciated that. She led her to the area where the young Draconics were clustered, understanding that the girl would prefer to visit with them. The area was protected with large cliffs that provided both an open space and a safe haven for the Draconics to gather. The sound of trickling water met her ears and Leafy scanned the area until she saw the small stream sending water down from above. The soft sounds of playfighting filled the air as the hatchling Draconics bustled about.
“They’re very lively,” Leafy murmured out loud.
She scanned over the baby Draconics, searching for any one that she felt a connection with. It would be difficult to tell right away, but Leafy was sure that there would be a baby that she felt drawn towards. The babies all had interesting colouring. A cluster of purple hatchlings appeared to originate from the same parents. If Leafy had to guess, she would assume the blue hatchlings were siblings as well.
Her quiet observation didn’t go unnoticed by the hatchlings. They regarded her warily, not trusting the stranger that had entered their home. The girl felt scrutinized for a moment, but she would hardly trust a human if she were a baby Draconic. She wondered if she should back up and give the hatchling some space. She took a careful step back, not straying too far.
“I am not here to harm you,” she said quietly.
She tried to make herself appear nonthreatening even if she didn’t know exactly how to do so. Hatchling behaviour was something new to Leafy and she had little experience reading Draconic body language. Perhaps if she made herself lower to the ground, that might be less threatening. She moved slowly as she sat cross legged on the ground. She took the time to examine the hatchlings, trying to find one that she felt would be a good fit for her. She liked the look of the Makiyans. The light blue one with the darker blue frills. The hatchling met her gaze as the girl watched them. The other hatchlings had moved away, wary of her presence. But this hatchling regarded her for an extra moment before retreating to join the others.

Leafy liked the spark she saw in the tiny Draconic. She could see his curious gaze fixated on her. She was content with watching him as well, waiting to see what the tiny creature would do. She felt a thrill in her chest when the baby decided to creep closer. He was wary, his movement only noticeable since Leafy was paying extra close attention. She looked away in order to ensure that the small creature didn’t feel uncomfortable with her. The other hatchlings appeared less frightened of her now, but they didn’t share the same rapt interest that the first Makiyan hatchling had.
“I don’t bite you know!” Leafy grinned as the Makiyan moved even closer.
She held out one of her hands, hoping it would be seen as a friendly gesture. The Makiyan moved closer, eyes glinting with some emotion that Leafy couldn’t comprehend. His tail lashed back and forth playfully as sniffed at her hand. Without warning, he nipped at her fingers. Leafy drew her hands back with a yelp.
“So it’s apparent that you are the one that bites,” Leafy muttered.

Leafy wiggled her fingertips, noting that the nip wasn’t hard enough to leave more than the faintest mark. It was a playful bite which was a reassuring sign. Leafy would have bitten back if she could get close enough, but the hatchling darted back before she could make a move. The hatchling was smarter than she gave him credit for. The other hatchlings had moved away, uncertain about how to treat the intruder. The Makiyan hatchling remained bold and watched her intently. The girl got the impression that the hatchling expected something of her, but she wasn’t certain what that was.
“Do you want to play?” she questioned the small creature.
The Makiyan tilted his head to the side, absorbing her words and considering his answer. Leafy couldn’t tell if he had understood what she said, but he responded by bouncing closer to her. He barred his teeth playfully and let out a soft grunt. Leafy pushed herself into a standing position and feinted forward. The Makiyan dashed back, his tail flicking wildly as he moved. He moved swiftly past his siblings and hid himself in the shadows.
“Play good,” a voice from the darkness met her ears.

The voice from the shadows startled her. It was high pitched with youth and that clued her in to the fact that it had come from the hatchling Draconic. She hadn’t realized that Draconics could formulate words at such a young age. Perhaps it was unusual.
“I know lots of games we can play,” Leafy remarked.
The Draconic slunk forward, shadows clinging to his body even as he entered the light. His eyes gleamed with excitement at the mention of new games. He approached Leafy without fear.
“Tell me!” he demanded her.
Leafy considered for a moment which game she should play. Hide and seek should be appealing to the youngster. He already had a knack for hiding in the shadows. Perhaps he would like that.
“Have you ever played hide and seek before?” Leafy paused for a moment before continuing. “You choose a place to hide and then I’ll try to find you.”
“Play yes! Let’s!” The Makiyan started cheering in excitement.
“Alright I’ll cover my eyes while you find a place to hide. When I’ve finished counting to 30, I’ll try to find you,” Leafy explained.
She placed her hands over her eyes, flinching slightly as darkness flooded her eyes.

She listened closely for the sounds of the hatchling hiding, but the baby was near silent as he moved. His footsteps were silent and he moved like a shadow as he searched the cavern for the ideal hiding place. Leafy counted to thirty at a steady pace, making sure not to cheat and count too quickly. A game was hardly fun if you only won by cheating after all.
“Ready or not, here I come!” she announced once she finished counting.
The first thing she saw were the other hatchlings. They had steadily grown more used to her presence and they returned to their previous play. She scanned their forms, looking for any signs of the Makiyan hatchling she’d been playing with. When she didn’t see him, she began to look around the rest of the cavern. Now she would need to check all the places that she thought would make a good hiding place.
“A hatchling would probably hide somewhere close to the ground. Maybe behind some plants or behind a rock,” she murmured out loud.

Leafy took the time to dwell upon the hatchling’s strength. She didn’t know much about Makiyan beyond them being part of the Clan of Umbral something or other. Umbral had something to do with shadows she was pretty sure. Perhaps she should look for an area hidden by shadows. She scanned the area, looking for somewhere that was low to the ground, had foliage to offer cover, and shadows to obscure the entire area.
“I think I’m onto you,” she muttered aloud.
It took her a few moments to spot the ideal hiding place for the little Makiyan. It was tucked away behind a rock in the cavern. A layer of vines was strewn across the rocks, making it rather difficult to access. Finally, a thick covering of shadows hid most of it from sight. The only reason Leafy had noticed it was due to the overgrown vines which had reached a lighter area.
“That is definitely the best hiding spot that I can see,” she said.
She tried to keep her footsteps light as she approached. She didn’t want the Makiyan sneaking away before she could check the area. When she was close enough, she leaped forward, a playful grin on her face.
“I know you’re in there since that’s exactly the sort of place I’d choose to hide,” Leafy laughed as she drew near.
She could hear snickering coming from behind the vines. Leafy brushed them back and greeted the Makiyan with a friendly wave.
“Wow! Found me!” the hatchling happily chattered away.
