With everything going to hell around her, she wondered if it was time to pack up or not, they could make their way to the front of the mines, dart Zhalo there, and then not have to haul him all that far after all. She nodded a little and dug into the dirt again, pleased with her idea. It was going to take awhile for them to be finished, just a few more shovelfuls of dirt and then she would pack it up and get Zhalo to follow her. Maybe they would find some more animals on the way out or something. That was always a possibility, she figured, and it would be nice to have something figure out what to do after awhile. Nodding to herself a little, she pushed her hair back and then put the shovel in her cart, calling the almost fully grown Zhalo over to her as she did so.

Zhalo followed Jack as she started to pull the cart up the gentle slope toward the entrance of the mines, or at least the area where she thought they were headed. Sometimes even she got lost down in the mines, but it was hard for her to when she had such a good sense of navigation. If there was a cave in or something, then it got harder, but that wasn't going to happen this time, she was sure of it. Giving a little yawn, she realized she didn't need to deal with it for much longer, at least next time she would have Goran with her and they would find some good stuff no matter what. All she had to do was trust her gargoyle and it would all go well for her at the moment. Jack smiled a little, at least she had an idea of what to do in the future at the moment.

Jack managed a yawn as Zhalo walked next to her up to the entrance of the mines, the cart behind her as she pulled it along. She hoped that things would work out for them in the breaking, but she wasn't too intent on things for a moment before Zhalo stopped short and sniffed at the wall a little. Jack chuckled a bit as she looked to the side and saw a silver vein they had somehow missed on the way down. Maybe it was a good thing they had, or else they'd be at this vein for a long time with probably nothing to show for it, which was the sad thing. Ah well, it wasn't like there was anything for them to do other than pop some of it out so she could work it eventually, and then move on again. Jack reached for her pickax and started to swing.

Everything was going well and she managed to get some silver into the cart and then they moved on again, Zhalo twitching at her side. She knew it was going to be hard to figure out when to dart him, but that was fine at the same time. She might as well do it as soon as possible, she thought, and she shrugged a little as they continued to walk. Wait until they got to the entrance, she figured, as long as her timing was on point. Maybe it wasn't, but she felt that they would get there in time, as long as there were no more distractions. They could get to the Pit, she could break him, and all would be well eventually. Jack just hoped this would all be worth it in the end, she figured with a little smile, and she shook her head a little as she continued to walk, Zhalo still at her side.

Jack figured she had everything figured out, or at least she hoped she did at this point. Sighing a little, she kept on trucking along with Zhalo out of the mines, they were headed toward the entrance pretty quickly. They would get there before he was fully aggressive, or at least she hoped that was the case. She hated darting them when they were still deep in the mines and all that, but there was nothing else she could really do about it at the moment. Maybe she just needed to speed things up a bit, and even though she knelt down to pick up a loose rhodonite, they were still booking it pretty well at this point, she thought at least. Jack had some idea of what to do with things, and that was fine at the same time, but she hoped that things would be alright in the end of it all, especially with the breaking.

Finally the entrance was in sight, and she couldn't wait to see what the breaking would do with Zhalo. She turned and quickly darted him so he wouldn't get too aggressive too quickly and shoved him into the cart. He almost didn't fit because of those huge horns, but he finally did, even though there was a wyrm in there too. The woman chuckled a little and then shook her head as she stretched out her muscles a little before the breaking and then started to pull the cart toward the Pit. Things would be fine, she supposed, and she knew things would go the way she wanted them to, but it was going to be hard to break him still. Tier three Drakes were no joke, and she hoped that things would work out in her favor no matter what she ended up doing, she figured with a small smile on her face.

Ah Goran, her favorite familiar. She loved the gargoyle, and though he'd had offspring she loved as well, they couldn't touch the original. He stared into the mines as she got the cart and equipment ready, and she smiled at him, patting him on the head before plunging into the darkness, his bright purple glow leading the way. She knew it was going to be perfect, getting him down into the mines, they always found good stuff at least, and she knew it was going to be worth it in the end. Jack pushed her hair back and let him take the lead as she always did whenever she brought him with her, he seemed more at home here than at the kennel, for which she didn't blame him or anything. She'd taken him from the tunnels and he liked being back more than anything of course, and she just hoped that things would go well.

Goran was happily leading her down into the mines a little as she followed with the cart, whistling happily. She knew they would find some good stuff no matter what and all, especially with Goran here with her. Already she could feel a little thrumming, but she wasn't sure if it was her nodes, Goran (since she hadn't been with him in awhile), or a crystal. She hoped it was a crystal or two, but there was no way of knowing what that could be at the moment. Jack smiled a little bit and shook her head, she was greedy, she knew that, but she wanted to learn magic the best she could at the moment. At the end of the day, she knew that things were going to go well for her whenever Goran was here, and she wanted all she could possibly find at the same time she figured.

With nothing but a thrum to go on, Goran led on through the winding tunnels, wondering when they were going to stop and what they would be able to find. It was all up to him though, he had to remember that, and finally he paused and sniffed at the wall before bobbing his head and starting to dig. She loved the gargoyle so much she couldn't handle it sometimes, other than Kro, he was one of her most socialized creatures. Things would be fine as long as they were together, she knew, and so she dropped the handle of the cart, grabbed her pickax, and started to dig in the wall where Goran had sniffed. She always assumed he was a he, but it was hard for her to understand gargoyle genders. Giving a little shrug, she realized it didn't really matter at the same time, she figured with a little laugh.

All she could really do was dig against the wall as she felt the thrumming in her bones. It was faint, but it was there, and hopefully they would be able to find whatever was making that feeling in both of them. Goran felt it too, she figured it was due to the crystal she had him socketed with, but that didn't matter too much at the same time. She smiled at him and patted him on the head as he dug, and then she swung the pickax at the wall again, letting a few rocks tumble down. She thought she saw something, but she couldn't be entirely sure just yet. A little while longer and they would find something, she knew it would happen, though what it was going to be, she wasn't sure. If she knew what they would find, it would take all the fun out of it, wouldn't it?

Goran was pleased, he loved the mines and while he showed little to no emotion, he knew the woman knew he loved her. There was a bond there, unbreakable, and she knew that he felt the same way about her that she did about him. It was something amazing no matter what and all, and she hoped that it would never end. Jack swung her pickax against the wall again and opened up the hole a little bit more just in case there really was something back there. She knew there had to be at least, but she didn't know what else to do about things for the moment. All she knew was that things were good no matter what and all that. Jack was pleased with their progress, even though they hadn't found anything hard just yet. At least they were trying, that was all she had to do with that at the moment.

A single, gold-speckled lapis could be found in the wall nearby.

She didn’t know what she was doing, well, she knew what she needed to do, but she didn’t think she would get all of them in time, that was the issue. Jack frowned a little and shook her head before putting a hand on Goran’s head, looking into the mines for the moment. The wind howled outside, bitterly cold, with hints of snow and ice in the air. That’s what she got for getting out this time of year, she figured. Giving a little sigh, she pushed herself into the mines past the biting wind, Goran leading the way and the cart rolling along happily behind her. It was a sturdy thing, something she had won quite a long time ago, herself and several other people of the Labs, which was fine at the same time. Smiling a little bit, she looked around as they stepped out of the cold wind and wondered where they were going to mine this time.
