The last trip had ended somewhat disappointing her a bit, considering they only found a single pure crystal and no fire crystals. Oh well, she would find some soon enough and get to make her node, she had no doubts about that at all. Jack smiled down at her leg and tested it out a little. There was no limping, no need for a walking stick anymore, but she still carried one with her out of habit, she just didn't let it touch the ground anymore. Almost giddy from excitement (there was no more pain!), she put her hand on Grim's back and then headed into the mines with the wagon being pulled behind her. Grim chuffed a little, sounding like rocks tumbling together, with the hint of a Rakai-Sarane whine, and then followed her down into the mines as well. She had changed a bit since her accident, he had been concerned when he heard about it, but apparently didn't have to worry about her anymore.

Jack strode through the mines with long steps, Grim trotting alongside her before overtaking her in a long loping gait to see what he could find. She chuckled, he didn't like not being ahead of her, just like Goran. It helped that he knew where some of the pockets were to find a few things, though she wasn't sure how he managed to find the good things like that. Whatever, it was fine, she figured with a little chuckle. At least he was finding some good stuff for her lately, though she wasn't sure what else they were going to find this time. Hopefully they would find some fire crystals, but she wasn't going to hold her breath when it came to that. There were so many things to be found in the mines, and crystals were so rare, she was amazed they had found a pure crystal last time, in fact. Well, maybe things would be fine.

Whatever they found, she would be pleased with, she just hoped they would be able to find something rather quickly and then move on. Of course it all depended on a few things, she supposed. The closer they were to the entrance, the less spectacular the rewards would be, that's how it usually went at least. She grinned a little and watched as Grim loped along the mining tunnel, ready to get things underway and wondering when things would be fine. He would pause here and there to sniff at the wall or the ground, but then shake his head or sneeze and then move along again, pausing a few times as well so she could keep up with him. It wasn't like it used to be, however, she could still work rather well when it all came down to it. She was the same person, just with a better leg now!

Part of her wondered if she should bring Goran back, but she and Grim were getting along so it didn't really matter she supposed. Jack smiled a little bit, she loved her animals, even the assholes, and she hoped they loved her too, or were at least indifferent toward her. As long as they didn't hate her, she would be fine for the moment, she suspected. Grim was one of the ones who tried not to show that he cared, but whenever he paused and glanced over his shoulder to make sure she was still behind him, well, it betrayed his feelings for her. She just couldn't wait to see what would happen if she mined with both Goran and Grim at the same time sometime later, but that wouldn't happen. If anything, she would just deal with it back home sometime, a place where everyone was supposed to get along at least.

The leg felt fine, there was no scarring, no more bruising, nothing, and the changes in the weather went noticeable only by her senses, and not the pain in her leg. She almost bounced when she walked, there was no way she wouldn't at this point at least, she figured. It was amazing to be in such less pain now, just when she had headaches or something of the sort. Of course, she woke up with them quite often because of the nightmares, but... She shook her head, she had lost a little bit of sleep each night since the accident happened, but that was to be expected. The dream was always the same, the tree fell on Renathan instead of her, and Bane had never come. Jack shook her head and kept an eye on Grim, she didn't need to think about her nightmares right now, she was here to work and have fun!

Grim sniffed along a little, still wary of the woman's pace for now, but he knew she was feeling better at the moment. Her leg wasn't bothering her anymore, and his father had explained to him that she had lost the leg and it was replaced. It had regrown somehow, he didn't know just how it could happen, but it had and that was amazing in and of itself. He tilted his head for a moment as he waited for her to catch up and then turned and trotted off again, sure they would find something good sooner or later. Jack smiled at him and shook her head, not really sure what she should do about this protective streak he had of her. Maybe training would work out eventually she figured with a little smile, but she wanted to train everything she had eventually, like that would ever be complete, but that was the challenge wasn't it?

He just wanted to get to where they were going and then stay there for awhile, as long as they were getting a few things out of the area. Maybe that last spot they had been would still give some good things, they'd found a fossil there, after all. Or maybe the area where they found the pure crystal at some point, maybe when they were headed back to the entrance of the mines would work. He tilted his head a little and then paused when his veins began to lightly tingle. There was that feeling again, the feeling that something was nearby, something important. It was typically a crystal, but sometimes it was something different, and he wondered if he had inherited this from his father, Goran. It almost had to be inherited from him, it was the only thing that made any sense, he supposed. His other parent was a Rakai-Sarane he had never met, and hoped to keep it that way.

Whatever was making him tingle was deep in the wall, it seemed, and he chuffed at the woman to get her to stop before he started tearing into the wall. It looked like someone else had worked the area over, and maybe didn't have his patience as they hadn't gone too far in. This was what he needed right now, and he hoped that things would work out in the end of it all, it was the only thing that made sense to him at the moment. Sure, things could go south for them, but as he dug, he heard the woman stop walking and open the door to the wagon. She pulled out the pickaxe and then started hitting against the wall with it, the sharp end digging into the rock and pulling small chunks out a few at a time. Always following his cues, she glanced over at him and barely saw him looking by the time she looked away again.

As Jack worked on the wall alongside Grim, she wondered what he was smelling, or rather, sensing. It didn't make much sense for him to stop if he couldn't tell that there was anything there at least, she wondered for a moment. What was it going to be? She smiled a little, as long as they found something she would be happy at the moment, she figured with a little chuckle as she smiled. It was going to be great, and she didn't know what to expect, but that was part of the fun, wasn't it? Jack shrugged her shoulders, a little sore already from not doing a lot over the winter, and that was fine, she would work it out. Honestly, she could even take a little bit of medicine to make the aches and pains go away, something she would probably do whenever she got home. That and take a hot soak in the tub or something.

Whatever was making his veins tingle was deep within the wall, it would take awhile to get there and he was fine with that. Jack was helping him out, though in a different spot, but who knew, she might be the one to come across it after all. Grim smirked a little the best he could and kept digging as she glanced over at him. He didn't really want her to understand how much he cared for her, but she had taken care of so many animals so far, it was hard for her not to realize what he was feeling. Just a little longer and more good things would happen, she was sure of it, but for right now they needed to keep digging around in the mines to see what they could find. It was going to be great, she figured with a little smile, she loved having loyal animals.

Three beautiful gems could be found within the wall; one of which was calling to Jack in a soft, thrumming feeling. There was a dark gem that might be difficult to tell from the wall if not careful; and a gorgeous amber, filled to the brim with small bits. [51-60]

Grim knew there was something back there, he could feel it, though something else was emerging as well, which gave him a bit of pause. He shook his head, a very human-like behavior, and then kept digging, hoping to find whatever was making his veins tingle. Jack felt it too, something close, and she wasn't sure what to make of it right now. It had to be a crystal of some kind, she figured with a little smile, and while she hoped it was a fire crystal, something told her that wasn't it. She would just have to keep digging for the moment, she suspected, and she did just that, balancing on both feet where before she could only balance on one really, it seemed. A giddy feeling crept over her for a moment and she smiled, even though her shoulders were already starting to get sore. She really needed to stop taking breaks in the winter, maybe this winter she wouldn't have to!

There was something there at least, she figured for a moment no matter what. Jack smiled a little bit and wondered what she was going to do if she found something good or not. Jack knew there was going to be something, but she wasn't sure what to expect at the moment, but that was fine, she liked being surprised by the mines at least. Giving herself a little leeway when it came to mining was a good thing, she figured, but the sooner they found something, the better off they would be. The only thing she hoped for was crystals, but she didn't know what else she wanted to find, just something good that she could work with in the Workshop if it ever opened back up. Honestly she really hoped that it would open back up, she really missed things at the moment, and she didn't know what else to do right now whenever she was out of the house. At least Grim was still working, that had to count for something.

There was something in there that she wanted, she figured with a little smile. What happened when she found it or whatever it was? Jack tilted her head a little bit and wondered what she was going to find, or if it was going to be Grim after all. She hoped it would be her, but it wouldn't bother her if it was Grim as well. She stifled a little yawn as she worked on the wall and wondered what she was going to do after all. Jack stretched out her shoulders and then swung the pickaxe against the wall again, finally finding a green glow in the wall. It wasn't a chaos crystal, was it? No, it was an earth crystal! Not what she was looking for, but hey, she wouldn't refuse a crystal whenever she came across one it seemed. Grim paused and pushed against the wall to sniff at the crystal, enjoying the tingle in his veins for a bit before going back to the hole he was digging at the moment.

Grim continued to dig in his hole while the woman started to try and dig the crystal out of hers. It was only fair that she find a crystal at this point, he figured, he had found the pure crystal the last time, after all. He chuffed a little and wondered what he was going to do at the moment, what was he going to find right now anyway? There was still something deep in there that made his veins tingle, and he wasn't sure what to do about it at the moment. Jack smiled at him and patted him on the back before swinging the pickaxe against the wall and trying to dislodge the earth crystal from the wall. She was going to have to be careful, it was the only thing she could do about different things at the moment. Jack smiled a little, still wishing she could cut them in the Workshop, but that was fine, they wouldn't let her.
