The stallion gets up after rolling around, and then shakes his entire body, to get the dew and grass off of his coat. The shake is a hardy one, obviously from a rather enjoyable and good roll; but Renathan is not enjoying it. The grass is spattered on him, and it is indeed wet! Renthan then shakes his own fur out, hoping to dislodge some of the rather annoying wet grass. This didn't work too well, but he didn't want to have to end the training session quite yet simply over some rather annoying grass. He stands up with the stallion and practices a few more times over the course of the next hour, repeating his command and then watching the stallion sit back down. Yes, today seemed good. He wasn't sure how many times it would be safe for a creature that otherwise stood up most of the time was to get on the ground, so he finally did call it quits for the day.

Renathan was ready for the next step the next day. He'd brought lots of supplies with him; a brown bottle of 'Coconut and Black Pepper' shampoo and conditioner combo that was supposed to be safe for pets, an easy-spray hose connected to a water pump not far away, and a good mane and feathering comb. Of course he'd need to go get different supplies eventually, but these would do for today's purpose. He walks out to the fence and threads the hose through. He was glad that the hose seemed to be working fine. The Stallion was quite used to him by now, and walked over to him in an interested and unconcerned kind of way. Renathan smiles and walks forward. He raises his hand in a flat way with his fingers spread out, and then lowered his entire arm to lower his hand. Then, he taps the equillion's front legs behind the 'knee'.

Renathan smiles happily as he realizes that the stallion quickly begins to lay down, only instead of allowing his back legs to bend all the way down for him to lay, Renathan walks to his side and then holds both legs at the hocks the best he can. The stallion seems confused; his butt is up in the air, but his front legs are bent down. Renathan is quite happy with this! He gives the stallion a small piece of pink apple as a reward, and then allows the stallion to stand back up. This was certainly an abnormal thing; the stallion seemed quite confused however. He'd received a treat, but was not quite sure why he had gotten one! Renathan sits his supplies and backpack down on the fence so that he could get to them later. Today was definitely bath day. It had to be, the stallion absolutely reeked, and all of Renathan's other creatures didn't get that luxury!

Renathan opened his backpack, and pulled out the first comb he had; it was cheap and rubber, but it had lots of little nubs on it. He held it in his hand and let the stallion sniff it. Then, he placed it on the stallion's shoulder. The creature moved his skin on that side in a slightly surprised response, but seems fine with it. Renathan uses this comb to massage into the shoulder, then down the flank, then he moves to the other side of the stallion and does the same thing. The dirt in the coat is simply atrocious! Renathan then moves to the front of the equillion and makes the hand motion again. The stallion is interested in his hand and sniffs it, but isn't quite getting it. Renathan makes the hand motion again, and then repeats the steps from earlier; ending with the stallion in the butt-up and front end-down position, a perfect bow.

Renathan treats this behavior with the apple piece, and then continues with the creature when it stands up. He places the rubberized nub comb down and picks up a cheap plastic brush with little soft bristles. He uses this to brush the stallion's leg feathering, dislodging lots of dirt and caked up mud. Renathan waits for a moment after this work, and smiles. Already the equillion was looking a lot better! Renathan once again makes the bowing hand motion, and the stallion does seem to know he is supposed to do something. He lays down, and then stands up, and then places his front legs mostly on the ground, with his hind legs in the air. Well, that was okay. Renathan corrects him; placing his front legs in the correct position and then gives him the apple. The stallion raises up after this, watching him with soft and attentive eyes; perhaps for more apple pieces.

Renathan then decides to keep going with the cleaning of the equillion. He takes a cheap plastic comb, quite thick and with long teeth, and runs them through the equillion's rather horrible mane. The mane was a sight to see; full of mud and dirt, twisted up in places and matted in others. Renathan diligently and carefully cleans out the mane over the course of fourty minutes before moving onto the tail, standing at the equillion's flank and grasping the tail ever so gently. It takes him an hour to go over just the tail itself; which was in a horrid shape. The stallion was not quite as patient with it's tail being tousled; he twitches his tail and stamps his hooves, but doesn't quite nip at the mammalian. After this, the comb is certainly busted; Renathan will have to throw it away later. He stands in front of the stallion, and makes the bowing motion with his hand again.

Renathan watches as the stallion once again begins to kneel down, it's front half getting into position, though it struggled to keep it's hind in the air before getting the pose right. Renathan was happy with this; so he handed the creature a piece of the pink apple. He waits for a moment, and watches as the stallion gets back up and shakes itself off. Renathan was just about ready now. He takes a cloth out from his backpack, and a bucket. Then he fills the bucket up with the water hose's sprayer, and then dips the cloth into the water bucket. He gently touches the equillion's cheek and then washes it's jaw on one side, careful to keep with the direction of the fur. The stallion was certainly not happy with this predicament, but he did not snap, and that was what Renathan was happy about. He finished washing the entire face after a while, dipping the cloth in the water every once in a while until the creature's face was well-cleaned.

Renathan then practices the bow again, he takes his hand and makes the bowing movement, and the stallion bends down carefully, and then straightens back up. Renathan is glad that he is realizing exactly what this was going to be used for! He gives the equillion a piece of the pink apple again, and then takes the water hose and sets it to the lowest setting. He moves over to the equillion, and turns on the water close to it's hooves. The stallion shies, for a moment, and then steps into it defiantly; the equillion had always been so defiant! In that moment the stallion seems to have realized that the water will not hurt him. Renathan takes the water and raises it up the leg most of the way, and then does this with each leg. After the stallion seems to be accustomed to it, Renathan quickly wets the stallion's back and tail, and the neck area last. The stallion actually seems to enjoy this part!

Animal husbandry was certainly something Renathan had learned over the course of his life in the labs, and certainly wasn't something he'd known a lot about before he set foot on Pethia. Now, he works with it like a professional, in his opinion anyway. The mammalian takes another clean rag and wets it with the hose. Then, he pets the Stallion gently with his free hand and bends gently under the creature's belly in front of his hind leg. He cleans about the belly area just between the back legs and then beyond that. Then, he proceeds to clean the rest of the area around the back end of the equillion. After this, he tosses the soiled rag into the dirty bucket. He washes his hands with the hose for a moment, and then practices the bow yet again; watching as the stallion more excellently bows down. Then he gives the hand movement for 'stay'.

The stallion seems confused for a moment, shuffling to get up and then bowing back down, as if it finally clicked what Renathan had wanted. This was good! Renathan treats him with a larger piece of apple this time and allows him to get back up. Renathan pulls a sponge from his backpack and then carefully put some of the shampoo and conditioner onto the sponge. He then rapidly works it into the coat of the stallion, and washes it off. The clean scent was certainly a new thing for Renathan; and he was also glad that it was pet safe! Then, he uses the hose on the lowest setting to wash off the shampoo. Then, he works some more shampoo into the mane and tail before also washing that off. He makes sure to wash until the coat no longer has soap on it, and then he dives another time into his backpack to retrieve a huge fluffy towel.

Renathan wastes no time in drying off the stallion with the towel; making sure to dry all of the fur in the body. Then he grabs another towel for the mane and dutifully works hard to make sure that there is no more water left on the equillion. Renathan then takes out another comb, and orders the equine to bow again. The stallion is quicker this time, and goes to bow; Renathan gives the stay command and he sits in that position, hind end up in the air. This was perfect; Renathan quickly but gently worked the soft-bristled comb into the mane and tail, making sure that the curly tail and mane hair were free of debris and tangles. Whenever he reaches a tangle, he quickly removed it with his claws and then kept brushing. Then, he allows the stallion up, and gives him a full small pink apple. He could not be happier with how today went! He collects all of the supplies, dumps out the water, and lets the stallion into the other corral with his herd mates. The sun would make sure he was dry; certainly.

Renathan wasn't sure what they were going to work on today; but he had the stallion out in his separate corral anyway because he really wanted to take advantage of the nice spring day. However, he saw his chance whenever he realized that the equillion obviously had some kind of mark on his right foreleg. At first, he was severely concerned; Renathan hopped the fence and bent down to study the equillion's lower leg by gently lifting it... There were two small pin-pricks. He didn't really know what he was looking at when he first looked at it; but then it hit him. This was a snakebite! Renathan was understandably alarmed at first; but then he remembered that the equillion was immune to various venom types due to his own venomous habits. Renathan would also probably bet that the damn equillion ate the snake even; because this pure was just strange like that. It was not uncommon for him to catch and eat a bird sometimes. He just had to have tainted in him somewhere, Renathan swears... But now he knows what he's going to train today!

Renathan looks at the stallion, and then commands him to lay down. At this, he points down at the small snakebite wound on the equine's leg and he says softly, "You need a bandaid." It was almost accusatory in tone, just the way Renathan wanted it. The stallion was laying down, and he looks from Renathan's hand to his own leg, and then back at the hand. Then he nuzzles Renathan's hand. Renathan softly patted his muzzle, and then points back at the wound. "You need a bandaid." The stallion looks largely unimpressed, and more interested in Renathan's hand and face. Renathan was suddenly quite glad that he wore a mask when the stallion gives him a big lick. He was also very glad that the acid was generally kept in those canines of his; odd for a stallion. He figured that it might be difficult to use a traditional bridle on him, with those extra teeth.

Renathan can still remember ordering the stallion to be created, 'As for powers I dunno, make him a predator or spit acid or something'. Well, this was certainly a surprise, but he had been glad about it after a long while. Even though he had to be extra careful with his creature because he was easily sickly, and any bites might be fatal to him. Renathan pats the stallion on his nose and then gently guides the stallion's face to look down at the pin-pricks on his limb. "You need a bandaid." He says, once again accusingly. He hoped that eventually there would be a happy accident and this would help out in the long run during the training. He knew that the natural remedy of most animals licking their own wounds was a long shot at best, but his own venom might help himself out just a little more, Renathan figured?

Open wounds were very dangerous for Renathan, due to his general ease in getting sick, but he figured that the creature needed a little help to understand what he was talking about. He pulls out a tiny bramble from the stallion's coat, and pricks his finger pad with it. He says 'ow' exaggeratedly, and then looks directly at the stallion. A tiny bead of blood beads up on the pad; and he shows it to the stallion. The equillion sniffs it for a moment, and then looks at him. Renathan reluctantly said. "I need a bandaid." And then he proceeded to lick his finger. The stallion watches with keen interest at his 'owie' as Renathan repeated to himself, 'I need a bandaid' and then licking his pricked finger (which couldn't even be discerned as having been pricked at this point). Then he looks as the Stallion accusingly, and points to the stallion's wound. "YOU need a bandaid."
