‘Wait just a moment, I need to set some equipment up for you. She says, petting him on the head before turning around for her backpack, grabbing matches, a pair of broken shoes she doesn’t need any longer, and a small spade to dig with. ‘What are you planning?’ Rayak says in a puzzled tone as he follows after her to a spot with less tree’s, putting most of the equipment to the side, she kneels down and starts using the small spade she starts to dig the grass away. ‘You’ll see.’ She says after a couple of minutes when the space is made big enough that only dirt remains, and the grass thrown a bit farther away. Setting her spade aside with the rest of the equipment. She stands up to look around. ‘Rayak, do you think you could grab some branches?’ She turns her attention to him when he makes a confused chirping noise instead of answering her. ‘Oh right, you don’t know what I mean huh? Nevermind, most of the stuff is close by.’ She mutters, petting him on the head as she passes him to go towards the nearest tree, gathering some twigs on the ground, and snapping branches off it if they can be done with one hand. Then turning around and placing it neatly in the middle, before repeating her actions to get a nice stack of wood. Both inside the pit, and a bit farther away. Then when she felt like it was enough, she started gather rocks as big as her hand. Which is harder to find then branches. Rayak meanwhile follows right behind her to see what she is up to, continuously just a few steps behind, but still close enough that it starts to become a nuisance when she’s turning around and wanting to go back to the pit, only to have Rayak stand in front of her. After about ten minutes of gathering the wood, and finding enough stones to circle around the firewood, she starts to pick up the box of matches, taking one out and sliding it deftly on the side of the box with a small snap. It took her a few tries to get it right, but when she is able to get a small flame going on the matchstick she carefully sets it on the bottom of the branches. Keeping her hands at a distance to protect it from the wind, and blowing very lightly at it made the small spark of flame start consuming one of the branches. Smiling she starts taking her hands more and more away from the flames as it gets bigger. “This should do it, alright Rayak.” She says, catching his attention as he watches silently with what she had been doing. ‘Rayak, I would like for you to summon your wings again please. We’ll need it for this trick to work on.’ Rayak blinks in surprise at that, having not expected that particular request. ‘My wings?’ He tilts his head slightly to the side, watching her with a strange look. ‘Yes please, I need you to bring them back again.’ Raak blinks slowly at her, but she sees he is doing what she asks when one pair of wings starts to sprout from his back. Smiling at him, she turns around only long enough to dump one of the shoes in the fire. Making the small amount of smoke that started coming from the pit become big and gray as it starts to burn. She takes a few steps away from it, coughing slightly now at the smoke. Hopefully no one is going to show up wondering why there is smoke in this area, though chances are likely her hopes are going to be dashed. ‘Right then. Here is what I would like for you to try and do.’ She coughs as the smoke comes in their direction thanks to the wind blowing it in their way. ‘Use your wings to gently blow the smoke away from us, the fire can’t go out!’ She says to him quickly as the smoke starts to thicken and even Rayak could be heard coughing. ‘Righ.’ Very slowly he moves his wings, it wasn’t even a flap like he does with flying, nor did it have any effect of getting the smoke to move in another direction.

‘Rayak, try to make it a little stronger. We are going to cough up a lung if we can’t move the smoke away from us.’ Rayak coughing with her made it clear he wasn’t even thinking of a reply when he was just as busy as she is to clear the smoke from his lungs, but he flaps his wings again, this time harder. “Clari-ty!” She tries to say while coughing, the smoke did clear up a little, but when Rayak stops, the smoke came back just as much again. That shoe is really burning up nicely to make all that smoke. ‘Try again Rayak, same pace or just a little harder.’She thinks while covering up her nose with the sleeve of her coat. Something Rayak isn’t able to do. Coughing she sees Rayak flapping his wings just a bit harder and faster again, sprouting his second set of wings to make it easier for him. “Clarity!” She says when the smoke is away from them, they both sighed in relief that when he stopped the wind was blowing the smoke in a different direction too. ‘That went well.’ She comments, glad for the small reprieve. ‘What is this supposed to do though? I mean, why make a fire that hurts us when trying to breath?’ Rayak questions her, still coughing and sneezing to get rid of the smoke inside his body. ‘This is supposed to teach you in getting rid of exactly such harmful substances in the air, its not exactly easy to get rid of the smoke. Too fast and without direction, you’ll risk in it still in enveloping you as the wind goes behind your wings in the upwards stroke if your both not consistent in the pace, or do it half hearty and slow it will not work at all, and still risk harming you. She starts coughing again with Rayak when the wind blows the smoke directly at them. Instinctively Rayak flaps his wings at the smoke, but seems to experiment with what she had been saying. Going fast in a wild pattern that only seemed to help him get the air a little clearer, but not for her, and the smoke still went up behind him. ‘Use the same pace as before Rayak!’ “Cl-arity!” She says while coughing. The smoke let up a little for her while Rayak starts flapping his wings in a more consistent pattern. She grabbed some of the branches she had set aside for the campfire, adding it in the flames before backing off and coming to sit down at Rayak’s side, far enough to not be hit by his wings. “Clarity!” She calls out again, seeing one of Rayak’s ears twitch at the sound she made while he flaps his wings. “Rayak, stop!” She calls out, getting a confused sound out of Rayak’s mouth as he reluctantly does it. The wind wasn’t blowing the smoke in a different direction again, it was starting to envelope them once more.

‘Flap your wings again Rayak!’ She says in her mind while calling out. “C-lar-ity!” Coughing while she did so, using her other sleeve not against her nose to clear her sight a little. ‘Why did you want me to stop if the smoke still continues to come in our direction!?’ Rayak growls out in her mind with annoyance for the interruption, having clearly seen, smelt and felt how the wind wasn’t helping them this time. He flaps his wings firmly against the wind, just wanting this to be over now, but he did it a little too hard, making the flames flare brighter just before it seems to almost go out. ‘Rayak stop !’She says in her mind with a hurried tone, seeing what he did, and they both started coughing from the remaining smoke still coming from it. ‘I’ll need to add more wood to the flames, maybe add another match stick if the flames are really gone.’ She says to Rayak, though she hopes it won’t be needed, if this happens too often they won’t be able to practice this too much at all. ‘While you do that, I am getting out of this smoke, it smells badly. Yuck.’ She hears him say in her mind while he coughs, his nose wrinkling at said smell as he dashes away. Away from her and the smoke. She isn’t too worried about him running away from her, he may have been prone to do that when he was still a cub and somehow ended up with a shiny bracelet in his mouth, but he wasn’t like that any longer. Moving away from the smoke as well, she grabs a couple of branches from her pile, and goes to the opposite direction where it is more smoke free. Breathing deeply at the somewhat fresh air before kneeling and adding almost all the branches she took from the pile on the campfire, using one stick to poke at the branches and encourage the flames to start coming again.

When after a few minutes that didn’t work, and it still looked like it was starting to turn into only a smoldering state. She retrieved the matchbox, taking out a matchstick and deftly striking it against the side of the box, making on the first strike a small flame with it. “Perfect.” She says softly, and carefully brings it closer to the branches. Keeping it there and blowing very softly at the wood and matchstick in order to encourage it to burn better, the shoe she had previously dropped in it was still slightly recognizable, but it is definitely starting to become more of a goop then anything else with how much it has melted already. Soon she will have to add the other shoe in the fire as well to gain more smoke then you would normally get with a campfire. The rubber from the shoes are excellent to use for that purpose. After about roughly six minutes, maybe eight, the fire finally started to burn well again. Though the smoke from it is less then when they first started. “Great, that will mean I’ll need to add this one too it as well. Did I packed another set in my backpack? I can’t be too sure..” She mumbles to herself as she added the other shoe to the fire. ‘Rayak, the fire is ready again, lets do this once more.’ She says in a tone of finality, considering how much he had been coughing, she didn’t doubt he will be a bit more reluctant to do this. Especially since he has been breathing fresh air for a while now. “Rayak come!” She shouts after a minute of him not responding, and she didn’t see him around made her wonder if he went walking far enough that he got lost for a bit, and is too embarrassed to say anything about it. ‘Coming..’ She hears him say reluctantly, and after a few moments she heard a few twigs snap somewhere from her side. Looking in that direction, she smiles when she sees him. His tail might be drooped a little as she can see him stare at the fire with reluctance when the smoke thickens. ‘Lets try it a bit differently Rayak, maybe it might make things easier to learn this as well?’ She comments, gaining Rayak’s interest as he looks away from the fire to her face questioningly. “Rayak, fly!” She calls out. Luckily Rayak already had his wings out, he made a running leap in order to get enough height to get in the air and be able to easily move his wings at a comfortable pace to rise even higher. When he was high enough, but not quite near the smoke she thinks for a moment how to go about it carefully, is it important for Rayak to be completely surmised in the smoke? Or would it be enough to just blow the smoke away from him? Biting her lip lightly as she looks up at his form, she sighs and just hopes this will work, ‘Rayak turn towards the smoke, aim your movements to have the smoke be blown in another direction away from you while still keeping a good pace with flying.’ She says softly to him, hopefully this will work just as well. “Clarity!” She shouts when she sees Rayak aim his slightly sideways downwards strokes with his wings at the smoke to get the most use out of them. But looking up, she does see that the smoke moves away from him, yet the trouble with it is that the smoke is less then he would have had to deal with on the ground. Biting her lip lightly in thought, she looks down at the campfire itself. Might there be something she could use to protect the flames from going out while they perform it on the ground? ‘Continue trying to blow it away Rayak, your doing good! Keep it up!’ She says, encouraging Rayak to keep going while she is distracted with something else. Glancing at the surroundings she wonders if it might be possible to find larger rocks, or perhaps bigger branches somehow? Hmm.. Branches. Looking at the tree’s some of them could be ideal for what she has in mind, she’d just need Rayak’s help, and keep an eye on the campfire at the same time. Glancing up she smiles at seeing Rayak still busy driving the smoke away, but when she considers how his pace was on the ground, it almost looks lazy to her eyes. This isn’t something Rayak should even think of doing halfhearted.

“Rayak stop, and come here!” She calls out loudly, and sees Rayak for just a moment flinch at the sudden noise she made. “Come Rayak!” She calls out again, making certain to keep the same tone, surely he wouldn’t flinch another time if the same thing is repeated right after the other? Luckily he didn’t, and after a moment he started flying down to the ground, landing neatly in a way that would make one think he’d done it all his life. ‘Your flying is getting better Rayak.’ She compliments him, chuckling when he puffs up his chest at that, but deflates rather quickly as he looks with wariness at the campfire. They both where currently on the smoke free side, but should the wind turn, it won’t be that way for long. ‘So, I had a thought when I looked at how you tried to get rid of the smoke, but didn’t put your all in it, that the smoke wasn’t as thick to work with either to make you want to put in your full effort.’ She claps her hands together when Rayak gave a slightly affronted look at her. ‘Don’t be like that Rayak, I saw the difference when I compare it to how you did it on the ground. So! I propose we continue to do it at the ground, but we’ll need a couple of very thick branches to make certain that we don’t put the fire out accidently.’ She then points to a tree farther away from them and the campfire. ‘Rayak I want you to rend at that tree, take out a couple of very thick branches please.’ She gestures at said tree, pointing at one of the branches that looked just perfect for this. ‘You really have the weirdest requests.’ She hears Rayak say as he jumps in the air, and starts flying to said tree. ‘This branch?’ Rayak asks as he lands on a particular thick one. ‘Yes that one will do nicely.’ She nods, but doubts Rayak is actually looking at her as he already flew off the branch and started tearing his claws in it. ‘Closer to the tree trunk Rayak! I don’t want a half mangled branch!’ She says when Rayak started out in the middle of the branch.

He didn’t comment back into her mind about it, but luckily, he did start to tear at the branch closer to the trunk. Sighing in relief she turned her attention to the campfire, noticing the fire is getting smaller she added a couple of branches in it, and watched how it became bigger. The shoes are still melting, but she might need to check at some point in her backpack for another pair if she has it, and add it to the flames. She jumps at a sudden loud noise behind her, and heard birds flying away, twittering madly. Turning around she saw that the thick branch Rayak has been working on has been rend from the tree, Rayak definitely succeeded in his task. Checking the fire one more time to make sure everything is going fine, she starts walking towards the thick branch that has about 12 inches in diameter, maybe a little less, but that seems to be the size of the thickest part. As the branch is luckily only three meters long, she should be able to drag it to the campfire hopefully. Grabbing the branch at the part where it used to be attached to the trunk, she was careful in making sure she’d get no splinters from it and slowly starts turning it around in order to make it easier to move it towards the campfire. Rayak followed by her side, staring curiously at what she is doing when she drags it towards two tree’s that stand close together, but not close enough to make it difficult for Rayak to move his wings. ‘Okay Rayak, I want you to rend the tree at this part here,’ She points at the middle of the branch where he first started clawing at. ‘I need it to be in two pieces, it will hopefully be enough if I can let it lean at those tree’s, while one is atop the other.’ She mutters, going to the part of the branch where it branches of into smaller parts and contains leaves. Breaking the parts off it that where too thin to use anyway, and making it start looking more like a log while trying to ignore the movement and shaking of the large branch as Rayak is clawing at it again. ‘Thanks for wanting to help out with my strange requests Rayak.’ She comments idly, snapping some of the thinner branches off more easily then the thicker ones of a inch. She might decide to just leave those alone. ‘Strange indeed. She hears him mutter as he hits the branch with his claws hard enough that after a few minutes he is able to break it into two while she had been busy snapping the smaller bits off it.

“Alright, hopefully this will do it.” She mutters as she walks towards the middle of the now broken branch, being careful with picking it up, she moves it slowly just before the two tree’s she had mentioned earlier, letting it lean against the two tree’s. It’s definitely a good size they picked, the two tree’s only stand about one meter with perhaps four or six inches apart from each other, and when she was done with dragging the first one there. She started doing the same with the second one, only getting slightly trouble with having the lift the branch up in order to place it on top of the first branch. It had to stay in the position she wants, and not fall off the other as soon as she stopped pushing them in exactly the right position. When it seemed that the logs finally kept themselves in place, she backed off and went around the tree, tending to the fire by adding more branches and going to her backpack to search for another set of shoes. Letting out a chuckle as she finds out that the plastic bag she pulled out to check that she did pack a couple more of them, just ones she found in a trash can. How did she even forget about them with all the trouble of procuring them in the first place? Sighing, she decides it is best to forget about it and start using them for what she wanted to do with it in the first place. Taking the plastic bag out of the backpack, she checked in the bag one more time to see if she had any more plastic bags, smiling when she did see some. That will be good for when it’s time to clean up the mess she is going to make at the campfire itself.

Walking back to the campfire, she coughs a little as she goes through the smoke, it smells terrible of burned rubber still, but less compared to in the beginning. Adding two shoes to the fire, she then backed off to go behind the tree’s she made the set up, it will now just be a waiting game for the wind to turn into their direction. She pets Rayak’s head as he starts to sit up again. While he had been following her for a little bit, he had grown bored when she didn’t do anything interesting and went back to the tree’s laying down and dozing off until she was ready. ‘Rayak, as soon as the smoke comes in our way I want you to wait with using your wings to blow the smoke away until I say “Clarity” Got it?’ She says in her mind towards him, smiling softly as she hears him purr when she finds his sweet spot behind the ears. ‘So long as you don’t wait too long when it happens, I won’t mind the wait then.’ He says towards her, turning his head to stare straight at her with confident eyes, while his wings started appearing once more. ‘Alright then, don’t forget we still have to wait for the smoke to actually get in our direction.’ She comments right back with a grin. She looks in the direction of the fire, and sees it burning quite a bit, no wood needed to be added yet, nor more shoes either as the smoke is still quite thick.

About roughly twenty minutes later, and having added another shoe and wood to the campfire, the fire finally went in their direction thanks to the wind. Rayak who had been dozing off again started waking up, coughing from the smoke as he stands up. She had the same trouble with it, but she held off with saying the comment, tears welled up in her eyes from both the disgusting smell, and the smoke particles but she has to wait, it’s important that they are first enveloped in it before Rayak does something. “Rayak, n-ow! Cla-rity!” She coughs out, hardly able to see a thing. ‘Right!’ She feels Rayak’s wings beat at the air in the pace they practiced a while ago with how the wind moved against her, and perhaps a tad slower then she would have liked while getting the feeling she is coughing up a lung, the smoke finally went in another direction. The logs thankfully staying in place and keeping some of the wind away from the campfire so that it won’t go out like last time. ‘Rayak take a deep breath of fresh air, stop with your wing movement and very, very slow, let out the air. We’ll try again when the smoke is thicker once more.’ She comments to him, doing the same thing she suggested, and holding her breath as best as possible as Rayak stopped and the stinking smoke enveloped them once more. Waiting till it was thick enough, is hell, but the moment she figured it was thick enough felt like a relieve to actually say the word. “Clarity!” She shouted with her last breath, and coughed as she tried to take one again, only for the smoke to come inside her lungs. ‘On it!’/she hears him say, he hasn’t been coughing yet, so he is probably still breathing out slowly.

She smiles when she both feels and hears his wings move, blowing all the smoke away from their direction, and finally being able to breath fresh air again. ‘Keep the smoke away from us for a bit, it feels like we haven’t been able to breath properly for a couple of hours.’ She says In quite a dramatic tone, and starts chuckling at Rayak’s annoyed look when he faced her. ‘How often do I still need to do this? I’m fast enough at this aren’t I? And I know what you want when you say that word.’ He comments as he puts a little more force in his wing movements. ‘Perhaps one more time I suppose?’ She hums in thought. ‘Now then, let’s do the same thing again with taking a deep breath, letting it out slowly while you stop with doing clarity now.’ She could see Rayak doing the same thing as she does when his chest expands, and when he couldn’t take in more breath, he started folding his wings behind his back, stopping the flow from occurring that held back the smoke. Breathing out very slowly she waits for the right time, letting the smoke envelope them till she could hardly see a thing. Almost out of breath already she spoke softly, “Clarity!” in a firm tone, glad that Rayak didn’t hesitate one moment to do as asked and immediately starting to unfold his wings to flap them with purpose.

Aiming to have all the smoke be gone as fast as possible compared to before, and breathing deeply before letting go as he takes in the fresher air. Smiling, she decided that he must have learned it now, and walked closer to the tree logs, shoving the top most log off the other, and letting Rayak’s wind hit the fire. Hopefully it will go out faster, but if not.. She walked closer to the equipment she had set aside. Taking the small spade she had used to build the campfire, she started digging again, getting rid of some grass till she reached the dirt. When she reached that part, she started shoveling the dirt onto the fire, helping Rayak with making the fire die out. Rayak hadn’t once stopped his pace with blowing the wind away from him, and now with the top most log removed, the wind he produces has more chance to take out the flames if they are doing it the right way. ‘Almost done Rayak, keep going.’ She comments with a smile, having filled half the pit with it already, and it’s certainly starting to work, the flames are pitiful now, if not for the shoes still smoldering and putting off that awful scent, she probably would have asked Rayak to stop by this point already. But its good practice for him to keep remembering how to do this movement, even when tired.

The smell would probably be worse too if she asked him to stop when she isn’t done yet either, it only took mayhaps five or six more minutes for her to fill the pit completely with sand and not see any smoke coming from it. ‘Alright, we are done now Rayak.’ She says to him with relieve evident in her voice. ‘That is great, my wings.. I could use the rest.’ Tiredness could be heard in his voice, and looking at his appearance, she can’t agree more with him. His ears, tail, heck, his whole face looks like he is drooped in exhaustion. Nodding at him she says. ‘Yeah, we could definitely use some rest. Give me a moment to clean up all my equipment, and gather it back in the backpack.’ Seeing Rayak start to lay down and curl up for some much needed sleep she left him to it, and went busying herself with getting everything ready. She stared at what was left of the campfire, and judged it to be still too hot to take out any of the shoes she had added in the fire. She will need to get back at this spot in a few days to do a more thorough clean up and make sure there isn’t any rubber left to contaminate the ground if none of the people or perhaps robots maintaining the park had done it before her. Nodding at that decision she walked up to Rayak’s dozing form and carefully kneeled down while making sure her backpack isn’t going to cause her any trouble when she shifts it in a more comfortable position on her back. “Rayak?” She says softly, stroking his hide while waiting for him to wake up. She sighs a little at a stray thought entering her mind, she finds it rather sad that this isn’t something she can do with Envix, never give or be given comfort through touch. “Rayak?” She prods at him, hearing him growl slightly in annoyance as he slowly wakes up. “Rayak, let’s go, it’s time to head home now.” She says softly, getting his attention the more she spoke. Slowly he stands up, yawning loudly as he does a full body stretch as he kneads the earth with his front claws at the end of it, then shaking his whole body and lifting his tail up. ‘I’m ready now.’She laughs at that. ‘Yes, I can see that!’ Shaking her head, she slowly stood up, and together headed home back to the kennel.

‘ Are you absolutely certain about this Envix?’ She says while standing in the middle of a small forest that the public park has, in front of her is Envix watching her passively as she only has half her middle sticking out of the ground, her clawed hands seemingly tapping at the ground in impatience while her shadowy form seems to shiver. ‘ Yes, I am sure, I’d like to do this.’ The haunting tones of Envix’s voice seems to rattle with impatience as well. “Alright then.. Was just checking.” She mutters to herself, as she walks away for a moment to gather some branches. Ever since she said a new tournament is coming up, she saw Envix’s eyes lighten up in interest, but she herself wasn’t exactly sure if for a Shadow Lurker it would be a good idea to join in on one. Their stamina isn’t exactly one of the greatest, and supposedly there is going to be done a limit on certain tools that could have helped Envix out when it comes to endurance. Still, Envix doesn’t seem to be deterred for the dangers the tournament poses to her, not when she apparently wants to find out how strong she might be compared to others. “This should be enough.” With an arm full of thick sticks she returns to Envix’s side. *1 Envix LV 50.2, LY 45.2

‘Alright then, since you are sure about going through those bloody fi-’ ‘I am!’ ‘ghts.. We’ll start with this.’ She says in her mind while pretending Envix hadn’t interrupted her. Dropping all but one thick stick at her feet, she sees Envix stare curiously at the stick, wondering what she is planning to do. ‘I want you to try and bite this, breaking the twig with your teeth-’ She sees Envix hesitate at that news, and rightly so, considering she can’t exactly touch anything in a physical manner. ‘I want you to focus on willing yourself into being able to bite down on it, and Crunch it to tiny bits. But! You will do so while trying to scare me in some way. I’m thinking you need to try and carry yourself in such a way that it comes across as intimidating without trying to make yourself appear bigger.. alright?’ She nods slowly at that news, sinking into the ground and merging for a moment even more in the writing mass of shadows that is her whole body, and then rises up again, almost looming over her while she holds out the stick. Raising an eyebrow in expectance, not in the least feeling intimidated by her doing it. She’s done it too often to feel like it would scare her again, and if it doesn’t scare her, then it won’t happen with the opponents she’ll have to face either.

Envix lowers herself again, her eyes becoming tiny green slits as she seems to narrow them in consideration, becoming big again when she seems to have another idea. Rising completely out of the ground, she has the shadows behind her form a slight tail, and she arches her back -as if she is a cat stretching out, only when she sees Envix unfolds her wings, she seems to see tendrils of more shadows sticking out of it? ‘Try better Envix, this isn’t scary at all.’ She huffs slightly as Envix’s eyes narrow at that news. ‘Alright, how about this?’ Then saying so in her mind the face splits open to form a large gaping mouth, she can see Envix focusing on her teeth to force her shadows to mold into a certain shape without losing cohesion of the whole. It seems to take a long while to make Envix be satisfied about the progress, as she did see the tendrils getting loose on occasion while she focused to form it into large teeth. Flaring her wings, she seems to try and loom over her again. ‘Don’t use your height Envix, that won’t help you at all in the long run when coming across something even bigger than you. ’ Which with the height Envix currently has, is all to easy to come across.
