Leafy felt kind of bad about that fact, but she also knew that the mining creature was most at home deep beneath the surface of the earth. Even though she had spent a lot of time with Naieth on mining adventures, she hadn’t spent all that much time training her. She felt like a neglectful pet owner, but she had set out to rectify that fact right this very moment. “Alright Naieth I’m going to start today by training you a fighting move!” Leafy exclaimed to her pet. In order to prepare for battle training, Leafy had preemptively set up her trust old training dummy in the center of an overgrown area of the park. She had chosen the most untamed area of wilderness she could find within the confines of a public park. She hoped that the terrain would at least somewhat resemble that which you could find deep in the mines. Naieth appeared somewhat interested in the dummy. She approached it without hesitation, more curious than wary. (Naieth 66 1/5, 71 1/5)

Naieth appeared almost as though she already knew what Leafy was going to ask her to do. She stepped back from the dummy and tensed, her posture more rigid than normal. If she could growl, Leafy was certain that she would.
“Well you seem to understand that you’ll be attacking the dummy at least,” Leafy remarked.
Naieth almost appeared to nod her head in affirmation, but Leafy knew she was simply trying to look for human characteristics in the mining familiar. She knew Naieth was smart, but she didn’t know if she was smart enough to understand the nuances of human communication.
Leafy approached the dummy, fully intent on demonstrating exactly what Naieth was going to be doing with her training. She tried to make herself as menacing as possible as she drew closer. She growled like a wildcat, trying to mimic the behavior of something feral. She dashed forward and pounced on the dummy. She made sure to make eye contact with Naieth as she opened her mouth slowly and bit the dummy on the shoulder. She maintained eye contact with Naieth as her teeth scraped against the fabric of the dummy. After a few moments, Leafy released the dummy and wiped furiously at her mouth.
“That was how you bite something!” She declared.

Naieth looked at Leafy as though she was a crazy person. The halfbreed did not have much in the way of facial expressions, but the girl was certain that the judgement was present. Naieth was a smart creature though and Leafy felt like a visual demonstration was the most helpful way to learn.
“Now it’s going to be your turn. Naieth bite!” The girl pointed at the dummy and gestured for her mining familiar to attack.
Naieth stayed where she was, as though conveying the fact that she had way too much dignity to do what Leafy had just done. Leafy knew the mining familiar was more practical than that, however. Perhaps if she could demonstrate the value in attacking, then Naieth would be more receptive to learning to perform battle moves. The girl walked behind the dummy and wrapped her arms around its torso. She propped it up and made sure that Naieth was watching as she did her next demonstration.
“Grrrr I’m a vicious wild mining creature and I’m here to steal all of your gems!”
