Renathan knew that they needed to trudge on. The longer that he and the stallion were outside and in the heat, the higher the chance was that the stallion would be sticky with sweat before they got into what Renathan hoped was air conditioning in the pool house so that Renathan could start the resistance training up for the creature. There was so much that they had to do, though they did take a moment to smell the roses before getting on with this. Renathan hoped that by the time they were done with this, anyway, that they would still have time to train that one last thing that Renathan had wanted them to work with, after all. Well, Renathan might also try to train other things if he did wind up having time, after all. Renathan tended to just wing it when it came to training and working with the creatures, after all. He hardly ever had a dedicated 'battle training' day with his creatures like Auburn, anyway. Renathan sighed when he thought of that. He knew that he was going to have to finish battle training his beloved izer and he really didn't feel like doing that. He hated the idea of her getting hurt, but he knew that like Shy Guy, she would need to learn to protect herself. Even being his familiar, he may not always be there to make sure that she was going to be okay! Shy Guy was that way too, but then again, Renathan was planning on eventually traveling with Shy Guy, anyway, and that meant that he would really need to be able to keep his head in harsh situations. Renathan hoped at some point to teach him how to accept various harsh situations, so that he would be the best traveler he could be! Renathan looked over at Shy Guy, seeing his blue eyes shining in the light of the morning sun, and was suddenly inspired with a new wave of resolve. They had to work on this, and now preferably! Renathan took the reins in his hand again, connected to the stallion's hackamore that Renathan had specifically bought to keep him from having to hurt his strange extra canines on a bridle or bit, which Renathan felt like would be some kind of serious issues, however he figured that it would be better this way. Renathan gently guided the stallion to continue walking.
Just like the other day, Renathan gently lead the stallion across the grass, and Renathan's paws left spots on the grass were there were no watery bits due to the specialized webbed feet and paw pads that he had that were specifically for walking on marshy ground that would be existent in his homeland constantly, while the stallion left no mark on the grass, perhaps because of whatever thing that pure equillion had that allowed them not to harm even the grass. This was quite ironic to Renathan, and he had to chuckle. Shy Guy just ate a bird he caught the other day, which had been both gruesome and concerning, and Renathan knew that he didn't have any qualms about 'hurting' anything, let alone stepping on grass! Was it some kind of reflex, or what? Renathan gently guided the stallion all the way to the pole area, and the stallion looked like he would nearly break his neck rubber-necking at the poles, as if he had expected them to move back there and immediately begin working on it. Renathan had considered it, but decided against it today. It was far too hot and muggy and Renathan kind of feared that the stallion would be uncomfortable working outside today at least somewhat exceptionally. Renathan had no idea what his tolerance to heat and wet actually was, despite the fact that his fur seemed to be coated in some kind of oil that kept water from being able to actually soak his mane and such. As such, his mane constantly dripped the substance and always looked and felt wet, even though it wasn't technically oily feeling. That was why Renathan often washed the creature, but was careful to always use a shampoo that was not going to strip these essential natural oils from the poor equillion's luxurious mane. Renathan had tried to remove some of the lilies at one point to test, and they had come off; but were blooming againstthe next day. They were quite interesting, sometimes in blue and sometimes in pink, well, most of the time in pink. Renathan had no idea what to do about them, but they must be natural. Perhaps to camouflage him in the rivers or brooks?
Renathan gently made it across the field and away from the track, which the stallion was also incredibly interested in. Renathan laughed and then gently petted his mane, to get him to get a move on. They would never make it to the actual building if he kept rubbernecking! Renathan thought it was quite funny, continuing to chuckle as they went on their way. They really needed to get a move on, and they really couldn't if the creature kept dragging his feet. Perhaps if he knew that they were 'going swimming' that the creature would actually get a move on. Renathan knew that if he did say anything though, that the stallion would run and probably drag him from being so super excited about it! The stallion loved to swim, absolutely adored it, and Renathan was glad that it was the case. Renathan had thought it quite weird when he had found out that the stallion could basically breathe under water, because though he had asked for the creature to be able to swim, he wasn't expecting the Labs to do one better and send him a new and improved Shy Guy that was able to actually take to the water better than most fish could. Renathan had not yet been able to actually figure out the mechanism for this; perhaps the lilies had something to do with it? Renathan had looked for gills on the creature for a very long time.

The labs was always something that Renathan had been both curious about and wary of. Sure, the place was one of the biggest reasons why he had migrated to Pethia, and he was always thankful for his creatures every day; but just what was going on around here? That was why Renathan had searched for gills on the stallion for so long, just how had they managed the entire situation of the huge bay stallion equillion being able to do something that equillion were not really able to do on a regular basis without the usual mechanism of doing so being added to the creature? Renathan got the gist that it was probably some kind of magical phenomenon, but the only magics he understood where the leys of his homeland, and the nodes here in Pethia. Well, understanding either of those things is probably a misnomer, but he knew about them, at least. He did not know what kind of thing the Labs could be using to work into these creatures, but he was beginning to feel like it could not have been anything good at all. Or else why wouldn't it be common knowledge? Renathan realized as soon as he had gotten here that he had no idea who even worked at the lab. He had never even seen anyone that looked like a scientist, or at least not the ones that Renathan often seen in his homeland, in their white clothing that were surprisingly resistant to staining and all and were quite tough and protected against any kind of contamination, acid, or other such things. They were a protective equipment, and he was hoping that most scientists all over the world wore protective clothing. Sometimes hazardous materials were used, he'd learned that in school, at least, whenever they were studying sciences and the leys.
Shy Guy and Renathan finally made it outside of the building, and Renathan walked up to it after dropping the stallion's reins so that he would stay in place. Ground tie was easily one of the absolute best training things that Renathan had ever worked on, he decided, and he was quite glad that he had done so previously! He wondered if this was a common trick to train creatures in this area, because it seemed like it would be perfect for literally any mount, but especially the aggressive ones. Renathan walked up to the door and placed a padded palm against the doorknob; and was surprised to find it locked. Renathan stared down at it, and tested it again. Perhaps this was just a side door or something? Renathan knew that he had reported that he wanted to do some resistance training today, and this was the resistance facility, right? Was he supposed to have some kind of a key or something? Renathan turned around curiously, tall ears flicking and tail lifted only just enough to keep it from getting wet on the grass. He turned to the stallion and walked toward him quickly, knowing that at the very least he needed to collect the stallion and begin walking around the building to perhaps find an open door if they were lucky. Sure, Renathan could just walk back up to the front and ask the individual that ran this place what was up, but Renathan was prideful and figured that at the very least, walking around in this dazzling heat would make the stallion tougher in that way, at least. Renathan lead the creature along the wall, keeping watch for any so called 'rotten' ground that might try to hurt the stallion's legs. Speaking of that, Renathan was very sure that he was going to have to check out the stallion's legs again today... What trouble. There was so much that needed to be done before they could even get started. He hoped that the large bay equillion stallion would be a quick study, because he wasn't too sure how much more of this he could keep doing before going completely batty over the repetitious training that was absolutely mandated by the creatures to actually train them to do what was required to really survive in the pit itself. The stallion seemed to be taking to the ground just fine though, even though Renathan was being incredibly careful with the entire situation. He didn't want them to have to be out here any longer than they absolutely had to be in the sweltering heat of the day.
Renathan had decided after all that today they would go swimming to avoid this very heat; and now it was getting foiled by a darn locked door. Renathan hoped that they would find one that was opened before he even was able to make the walk of shame back to the front desk to talk to the huge mammalian that ran this place, who he was pretty nervous about since she looked so strong, and admit that he couldn't even get into a locked building that he had asked for access too. He wondered if perhaps he was forgetting a key or something, but when he checked his bag to make sure, stopping and putting the stallion's reins down to make sure of it, he instead pulled out the things he had brought to use today; the leg wraps, fruit water for the stallion, and the stopwatch. He had been told that these were the things that could be used to help for this kind of thing, and he hoped that he would be able to use them well. Still, he found these things and no key, so he picked up the reins again after depositing the items he had brought safely inside of his backpack again. He always stashed all kinds of things in there, including his own water. He wondered if he was meant to use the fruit water by putting it in regular water buckets or not, since his stallion actually required a lot more water at a time than what was in that little container of what was so called fruit water. He figured that he would just have to figure it out once they got there. If they ever got there at all, that is.

Renathan slowly but surely lead the stallion across the rather hazardous wet ground in the sweltering heat next to the metal outside of the building, which was conducting and reflecting quite a bit of heat, if he did say so himself. He hoped that it was cooled somehow, inside, so that they would not absolutely cook it what could basically turn into a sweltering and suffocating oven in the heat, like the old gyms for sports back in his homeland. He absolutely hated those back when he was a kid, and it always seemed like it was more common to use them in the summer time, too. Absolutely terrible memories, he had, of trying not to slip on his own sweat while playing some stupid ball game or the other. He had never been very big on team sports, and instead preferred riding lessons, and the actual class lessons instead. Renathan thought about this as he walked around the first corner of the building they came to, and peered down hoping to see a nice open door on this side, or really a door at all; if it was air conditioned why would the door be open, after all? Perhaps the heat and mugginess was beginning to effect Renathan. Renathan knew that it sure was bothering the stallion a bit because the creature was sweating a small amount and his nostrils were flaring. Yeah, this sucked a whole lot. The heat was enough to make anyone quite exhausted, and Renathan was absolutely happy that he was not planning on having the stallion run in this heat today. He knew that as soon as they got in here, that the stallion would probably beeline for water to drink, or perhaps just jump in the pool. Renathan would have to take all of his tack off, first, and he hoped that the bay equillion stallion would wait for him to do that before just jumping off into what could be chlorinated water, for all he knew. He hoped that they would have used something else for pool health and cleaning, errr, yeah the word was purification! That way they wouldn't have too many problems today at least. He had really been putting this off for that reason and more, honestly. There was so much stuff going on all the time, and he didn't have time for the stallion to get sick off of the chlorine in a pool!
He knew that he couldn't do the training at home instead of here, anyway, and that kind of sucked. He wished that he had this kind of facility at his own farm, but alas, it was the training gym after all, and it had some really nice facilities. If only he could actually get into the building, right? This side of the building had no door and was instead as smooth as glass. Renathan walked a few feet and then peered into the glass-looking side of the building, only to find that it was not glass or see through. He was disappointed a bit, he realized, and he wanted to see what was in there, mostly so that he could look for a door. Ah well, he lead the stallion on this side too, being sure to watch for the rotten ground just as he had earlier on the other side. The building was absolutely huge, and Renathan was so glad that they were having to deal with it though, because this in and of itself was testing their resistance to the heat at least, and that was good. Renathan knew that being able to take physical damage was one thing only, and that there were other things that had to be worked on as well! There was so much to take in when it came to battling and most people tended to be really straight forward in a situation that there was unparalleled complexity that could be exploited. He hoped that his beloved equillion would at the very least open some eyes as to the legitimacy of using things that weren't wiurn in the pit to some good results? That was what Renathan wanted, anyway, his goal to this endeavor. He hoped that he wouldn't have to see the stallion die during that time period. He couldn't help but feel like maybe there was a part to this strategy that he wasn't thinking about when he had been planning, actually. Renathan thought about this focusing on this as they walked down the glossy side of the building. Renathan was beginning to feel like they might never ever get into the building! The stallion seemed confused as to what they were doing, and kept stopping to stare at himself, or at least attempt to, in the slightly reflective surface of the wall. Renathan kept gently suggesting him to continue forward, around the building as the steam lifted up and off of the grass in the early morning sunlight.
The heat was just awful, and Renathan was beginning to smell both his sweat and the stallion's sweat, and that was not desirable at all. Renathan didn't want to bring a dirty creature into a building's pool and make the water all foul, and that sucked. Renathan hoped that this next corner that he could see way up ahead would make for a good door being on the other side of it. As always, Renathan had completely underestimated the situation, and had confidently figured that he could walk all the way around the huge building without issue. Now the heat was already getting quite bad, or perhaps it was just the way the building was very fit, and then Renathan had no idea what to do about it. He hoped that the stallion's resistance would be worked on quite easily after this strenuous activity. He had planned on making the stallion go through something strenuous before starting on the actual waterfall anyway, so perhaps this counted to make him tired enough to have to learn to block out the pain a little bit? He figured that this was probably how this whole endeavor would work. Renathan really had no idea, and was just winging it after all.

Renathan was incredibly happy when they were finally getting close to the next corner of the building. He felt like it had been a lot longer than it had actually been due to the sweltering heat, he really hated it. He had not been planning on dealing with this for this long today, at all. The stallion was beginning to sweat quite a bit now, not quite 'buckets' but still quite a lot. Renathan would have stopped to comfort him, but he knew that it was important that they get there as soon as possible preferably so that the poor guy could get him some water. Renathan could tell that he was very thirsty, after all, and the heat was just so unseasonable! Renathan got to the corner and was super relieved. He took a deep breath, feeling like this was a bit more drama than he would have liked after all, and then turned around the corner, leading the equillion with him. He could have ran once he saw it; it was a door! Renathan was super excited about this! He could not have been happier, and Renathan could hear the stallion start breathing a bit hard. Oh no, this was beginning to get quite dangerous, perhaps he should try to train the creature how to deal with heat at some point? That would be useful for if he ever wanted to take the stallion out to the desert. Then again, they weren't even in the desert right now and the stallion was having trouble! Perhaps that was also because it was not arid around here like it was in the desert, and was instead super muggy and difficult to even breathe around here for Renathan, let along such a big huge creature as his bay equillion stallion was! Renathan hadn't even considered this before now, and that was not at all good. Renathan made a bee-line for the door, practically dragging the lagging-behind Shy Guy to the door. He hoped that they would be able to get there so that he could give the stallion a drink so that the poor creature could get his energy replaced with this special fruit water stuff. That was what it was supposed to be for, anyway! Renathan could hardly wait to feel that nice air conditioning that he had convinced himself had to be in there, so that they could be okay.
Renathan was relieved when he got to the door and was able to jerk it open, this entire thing was incredibly shocking to him. He was so glad to feel the blast of cool air once he got in, and then he quickly held the door open and ushered the huge bay equillion stallion through the door as well. The creature's nostrils were flaring, his skin was shaking in certain areas, and he was quite sweaty. That just wouldn't do at all now that they were here! The creature was certainly worn out from the heat, it having worked it's toll on his form, but he seemed to have endured it quite well enough all things greatly considered. Renathan looked around the building curiously, wondering if there was anything around here that was even remotely good for showing a creature off before getting him in the water. The mammalian was incredibly glad that the stallion was not dragging him off towards the water and was being, all things considered, very polite and calm. That was good, at least! Renathan gently guided the stallion towards the back of the room where he found that there was a faucet with a bucket near it. Renathan lifted the bucket to his face and breathed in; and he was glad that it was not at all smelling of any kind of chemicals. Renathan turned on the faucet and then filled the bucket up to about halfway with nice cool water, knowing that the stallion will enjoy it. Then, he carefully pulled out the fruit water, and began reading it to make sure that it would be okay to dilute it a bit. Then, Renathan moved to pour it into the bucket with the water. He knew that this would probably replace quite a few of the fluids that the stallion lost. Then, he dropped the reins right there over the water so that the stallion would be forced to stand there thanks to the ground tie. One couldn't force an equillion to drink once it got to water, that was true, but one could heavily suggest it! Renathan knew that for sure. Renathan then began to remove the tack from the equillion carefully, as well as he usually did and he was glad to see that the stallion wasn't sweating too entirely much beneath the saddle.
Renathan was so glad for this, he knew that this was a good sign that he had weathered the heat well enough. Renathan put the tack away, on a table that he found not too far away, having left the hackamore on the equillion since the reins were attached to that. Renathan was glad to see, once he turned around, that the large bay equillion was drinking from the bucket quite deeply. Renathan was relieved at this, and then pulled out a water bottle for himself as well so that he could drink himself, he had gotten almost too overheated during that at least, and he hated feeling dehydrated; the way it made his mouth feel cottony was terrible. He drank as well, and then decided that while the stallion was drinking, that he would go quickly find some kind of way to get him washed off before getting into the pool, he didn't want the creature to get in there all dirty and covered in grass and sweat like he was from the walk here. He placed the bottle back into his bag after it was empty, and then began searching around. After a while of walking in the huge building, he found a room with what looks like a shower that would be big enough to hose off the stallion in. Renathan was quite glad to have found it! Things were looking up!

The russet mammalian was hoping that by the time they were done today, that all of this would be past them and they could really start to work on the last half of all of this hard work. Renathan was tired quite a bit already today, and he wasn't sure if it was because of the heat or because he was running himself ragged to do all of this training. He wanted to rest a bit after this, but he knew that it would be better for both of them if they would actually just go through all of this in as close to one shot as they could; one week if he could. Renathan was really getting exhausted though, and the heat this time of year was fighting against them harshly. Renathan was just glad that they were in a cool building now. He walked back out to the main floor and walked up to the stallion, pleased to note that Shy Guy had not quite finished the water yet but had downed most of it. Renathan realized now, looking toward the door that he came in to, how mislead he'd been earlier; this was the front entrance! No wonder it had been so easy for him to come in; the other door must have been the back door! He felt a bit stupid at the moment, and shook his head, chuckling at himself. He wanted to blame it on the heat, but could he really? Just because it was sweltering outside did not mean that he had to go and make a fool out of himself like this. Ah, well, they were in here now, right? With the nice air conditioning and the pool and all. Renathan could see now that the stallion had finished his water bucket, and now that his tack, save for the hackamore, was off and sitting on a table nearby, Renathan knew that they were about ready to hose the creature off so that he could actually finally get him in the pool. Renathan was relieved, but still quite a bit tired. He realized now that he was shaking a bit, perhaps from all of the energy it took to perspire in all of that heat. He always was a lot weaker after the fact than he was during a stressful situation, and Renathan was sure that it meant something or another, perhaps his weak immune responses? That shouldn't matter in this moment, anyway. All he did was get warm, and he was a fire elemental! Basically, anyway. He never really thought of himself in that way.
Renathan took the reins in his hand, and lead the stallion away from the water bucket now. He hoped that the stallion wouldn't give him too many issues with the quick shower down that would be required before he got into the pool, since the creature was used to baths via a water hose, since that was how the russet mammalian tended to do this, anyway. Renathan just knew that the stallion wouldn't be used to being in a building with such relatively small areas as the showers were, and that he might balk a bit. He sure hoped that the creature wouldn't, they already had enough difficulty today! Renathan slowly lead the stallion into the smallish room, and he was quite proud to note that the stallion hardly even staggered as he stepped inside, not quite trying to pull away. It was obvious that he was quite uncomfortable, but Renathan was trusted by the creature quite well enough that the creature would follow him anywhere, even into frightening areas that he would not otherwise enter at all. Renathan dropped the creature's reins and then turned on the water, making sure that it was warm enough to not be an issue but not too hot. In fact, it was just a little chilly for Renathan's liking, but he knew that the stallion preferred it that way because Renathan had been making sure that all of his creatures were bathed when they needed it for long enough to know the preferences that the creatures tended to have. Renathan liked to think that he was a good creature keeper, beast tamer, whatever they were called nowadays. He wanted to make sure that his creatures were the most comfortable as possible and that they were under the best care that he could give them; and it was quite expensive! Renathan knew that it would be the case; but it still didn't make the situation different or less difficult. Renathan had to work quite hard to make it all come together, but he wouldn't trade the hobby for anything at all. The russet mammalian was very quiet, making sure not to create any of the kind of echoes that would make the creature afraid of the room any worse than he already was. Renathan began to gently hose the stallion down with the water hose, and the stallion moved around in a semi-circle, as Renathan taught him to, to make it much easier to hose down his entire, quite large, body.
Renathan finished up the quick wash and then quickly turned off everything, making sure that he wasn't loud at all. He made sure that he gently lead the stallion out and towards the pool now. Before they got within eye-shot, Renathan removed the hackamore, to keep the creature from jumping into the pool with the dangerous restraints dangling around the body and possibly hurting the creature. Then, he made the hand sign for 'follow me' and then he began to walk around the corner to the pool. The pool was absolutely huge; Renathan actually stopped with his mouth agape, surprised that the building, that was already so large, had such a huge pool within it. Renathan would not have been surprised if someone had fit something as large as a pliathor in here before! Renathan was absolutely astounded. Renathan was very sure that the stallion would love this... The creature rounded the corner to stand behind him, and was absolutely floored!

There needed to be a few more things done, most importantly, before Shy Guy actually entered the pool, and Renathan knew that the poor stallion hadn't exactly been tested like this before. Renathan knew that the stallion was incredibly patient with him, but he was unsure as to whether or not the creature would continue to be patient after all of this time and difficulty that they had went through just to get here! Renathan knew that this would be a struggle for the large creature, and that if the stallion were to push past him to get to the pool anyway, that Renathan would just have to let him before he was really not strong enough to keep him from doing it without the hackamore and lead, which had been taken off due to it being a danger of catching on something in here. Plus, Renathan knew that they really needed to do this training even if the creature was being disobedient, and it would do more harm than good if Renathan were to take him home as punishment instead of simply dealing with it and guiding the creature through the training. Renathan was quite tired today too, so he was almost too weak from getting overheated to actually get the creature to do anything that it did not at least somewhat either want to do or want to trust Renathan about. Luckily for Renathan, the stallion was a bit more loyal than most other creatures that Renathan owned, and he stood stark still, staring at the pool and tapping his cloven pale hooves against the floor, as opposed to actually harming anything or bull-rushing past Renathan in order to jump into the pool before he would be allowed to do so. Renathan was pleased with this, and gently lead the stallion forward. They would need to check the stallion for soundness first, before really going through with this. Renathan was exhausted, so it would take a little while, he knew. They would be lucky if Renathan were to get done in the next fifteen minutes. Renathan would also need to gauze the creature up, since they would be using the huge waterfall that Renathan could hear at the distant end of the room. That was the idea, anyway! Renathan just knew that this was going to be good, but he had to do this first. They would succeed today no matter what!
Renathan stood and gently put his padded palms on the stallion's sides, gently checking the creature for any unsoundness. The stallion was still a bit tired, but seemed to be breathing fine, with not too much flare, and he didn't seem to be favoring either side. There were, of course, no saddle-sores, and that was what Renathan was the most worried about. After figuring out that the stallion was in no way weakened on the top half of his body, he patted him on the nose, and then gently went to feel down the front left leg. Renathan always wanted to make sure that their rather strenuous work was not causing any kind of cracks or anything on the stallion's shins. The stallion's leg seemed sound enough, as Renathan lowered himself to keep his fingers detangled from the still wet fetlocks, making sure that there were no tenderness or swelling on any part of the leg. He knew that the equillion would not really be able to verbally tell him if anything were wrong, and he was such a powerful creature that Renathan was sure that the creature would keep himself from letting Renathan know unless the russet mammalian actually looked at it and discerned it from himself perhaps. Renathan realized that the stallion was indeed quite fine on that leg, and then he gently stood up and patted the stallion on his nose, letting him know that he was alright for now on that leg, and then Renathan bent down to check the right front leg instead, and checked out the top to the bottom, bending down but making sure always that the creature knew exactly where he was so that he didn't get hurt by the huge creature. For such a huge and usually aggressive creature, Shy Guy was always very gentle to Renathan, and he was glad at that. Renathan checked the leg for any heat, tenderness, or swelling, to make sure that the creature was not in danger or hurt. Renathan was sure that the poor beast would certainly hide that from him if he ever did get hurt; and so far it was so good! Renathan leaned back up, and then began to move around to the side to check the right hind leg. He reminded himself that next, he was going to have to work on the back left leg, because he was sure that he would forgot. He was feeling just a little light headed, he knew he needed to drink more water after all of this.
Renathan smiled and continued working on the stallion's legs to make sure that they were not somehow harmed in some of their previous training. The back right leg was carefully taken in-hand and raised up to where Renathan could see it, much like a farrier would do, while letting the stallion know where Renathan was at all times so that the russet mammalian would not get kicked in the head while he was working to check for cracked bones, tenderness, swelling, or heat. Whenever the leg was deemed quite fine, Renathan stood up perhaps a bit too fast, and moved around to where he could get to the other leg as well as possible, keeping his padded palm on the stallion the entire time so that the creature would know exactly where he was as well as possible, and as they did so. The russet mammalian bent down and gently suggested that the leg would lift so that he could hold it in his hand and quickly checked it for the usual. Renathan was so glad that he had trained the creature tolerance to having his legs moved by him so that they wouldn't have any issues with these types of things!

After checking each and every leg on the Stallion, Renathan was finally quite confident in their ability to begin working today. Renathan slipped his hand into his backpack after walking slightly towards the front of the stallion to keep from getting kicked in the head during this time. The stallion was certainly large enough to do so without trying too hard, and that would have been absolutely terrifying to most folks probably. Renathan searched around in the bag for a moment and after passing the two empty bottles, one of the fruit water and one for his water, Renathan pulled out the wraps that he had removed from the stallion's legs the last time they worked out. It was time to use them again, Reanthan decided! He quickly showed them to the stallion to let him know what was about to happen, and then quietly bent low, taking one of the front legs in his hands and lifting it onto his knee, gently holding it there for a moment before letting go to be able to begin winding the gauze around the creature's left front leg. The stallion didn't move at all, having been taught tolerance long ago, and Renathan easily, confidently, and expertly wrapped the grey wraps around the creature's leg as tightly as he had to. Renathan was quiet as he did so, and finally, after winding and winding and winding he was finished with it and then gently wrapped the loose end of the wraps into the wraps to keep them from falling off and unwinding at any point. He was quite pleased! Renathan lifted up momentarily to sit up and make himself less pained, and then turned over to work on the right leg this time, lifted it onto his knee just as he had before, carefully holding it there for a quick second before letting go and beginning to wind the gauze around the creature's front right leg this time. The stallion didn't move at all, yet again, with the creature having been taught this so long ago, and Renathan once again was quite careful but speedy and very skilled as he wrapped the grey wraps around the creature's leg as tightly as it made sense to. Renathan then finished winding and winding yet again, and twisted the loose end and tucked it into the rest of the wraps to get the creature all set to being training. They were finally here, and finally ready, and Renathan could not be more excited about it!
Renathan then stood up, and carefully took the creature's face into his hands, gently petting it on both sides. He knew that they were about to finally be done with this, but that they had a good long road ahead of them. He was getting quite tired, and really needed to take a drink of his own water. Renathan then backed up, his tails twisting at the tips from a small amount of anxiety, and then he gestures toward the water, knowing that the stallion would get the idea just based off of his body language and the emotional link. True to form and how they had previously did this, and it had the same effect each time, the creature nudged him as gently as Renathan was sure that it was able to with his muzzle before rushing off into the water, nearly melting into it, quite happily from the looks of it. Renathan smiled from beneath his mask, and gently lifted it just enough off of his face to scratch and itch that he had on his left cheek. Then, Renathan pulled a full water bottle from his backpack, and he began to sip it. Renathan knew that the day would be quite fine. The pool wasn't deep enough at the shallow end for the stallion to swim without standing up from the bottom of the floor, and Renathan knew that the creature would soon begin going over to the deep end, where the 'waterfall' was. It looked quite imposing, and Renathan knew that just trying to get over to that side of the pool, with all of the resistance and harsh water that would be pushing him away, that he was going to have to get through quite a bit of difficulty and pressure on his skin to even get over there, let alone the waterfall causing stinging once he would get there. Renathan couldn't help but marvel as he sipped on his water bottle. The waterfall was quite huge, and he had no idea how they had set this up here without causing any issues, and where did they get all of this water? Was the labs even capable of this? He was sure it was, because it was right in front of his face, but it was still quite shocking to actually see it right in front of his face and all! Renathan continued to sip on his water bottle, trying not to drink too fast because he knew that it could really hurt his stomach to drink cold water fast after getting too hot.
Renathan looked for somewhere to sit down as he also tried to watch the stallion in the pool. Renathan was sure that once he got sat down somewhere, he could use the stopwatch to time the amount of time it would take the stallion to take laps over the course of the next couple of hours or so; if the stallion was able to stand this for that long. Renathan actually had no idea if he would be able to deal with this that long, or if it would truly become some kind of an issue. They had been with quite a bit of difficulty just getting in here after all, and the stallion had to wake up quite early this morning so that they could get here as soon as the place opened. Renathan did not want to have to share the facility with a crowd, so he was always here early to make sure that he would not have to do so. It wasn't that he disliked others, it was that he was terrified that someone else's poorly trained animal would try to attack his or something, and he didn't really want to have to use his magic to stop a pet fight because of someone else's gross negligence and other issues. It was not common for people to actually restrain or train their creatures properly, he had seen some really bratty creatures around... Renathan continued to search for a seat, and finally found some lawn chairs stacked away neatly on the wall leaned up together. Renathan pulled one out and carefully leaned it out so that he would be able to watch the stallion adequately from this angle. Renathan then continued to sip on his water as Shy Guy began to realize that the water had some kind of resistance pushing against his legs. Challenge accepted, right? Renathan quickly searched for the stopwatch in the bag so that he would be able to keep up with the hug bay equillion stallion's progress in the pool with the laps, but was finding a hard time locating it. It just had to be in the bottom of his bag, right? It was super annoying. Renathan put his bottle down for just a moment to quickly search for that super pesky stopwatch. He wondered if this would help the process along any, and just knew that he was going to have an off time due to having to look for this...

The russet mammalian must have taken four minutes to finally locate that stopwatch in the bottom of his backpack, griping under his breath in his native tongue the entire time as he did all of that rummaging. Finally, he grasps the pesky thing and shakes his head, trying not to laugh at himself and his misfortune. The stallion had already began to move to the other side of the pool. Renathan hadn't gotten to see it, but anyone that may or may not have been watching through the window, perhaps the gym master did watch? Perhaps they did not, Renathan would never have known how they figure out whether or not the creature's condition has went up enough or not to constitute a point as it was colloquially called or not. Renathan would wonder about such things later on, perhaps deep down in the mines where he tended to do his best thinking, or perhaps randomly as he was showering or cooking his dinner in the far future, who even knew at this point? Renathan was typically the kind of person to wonder about and overthink anything he possibly could; and that personality trait did not seem inborn from when he was a youngster or anything because it had just started once he got to pethia from his homeland in the first place. Perhaps it was something he got from Mintaka when they went through the soul-bond? Renathan sat there for a moment, and then felt a huge wave of deja-vu hit him. He had no idea why, but he felt like he had thought about that before? Little did he remember, but he did indeed think that same thought previously, in fact, a few days ago when they were first training. He didn't remember though, and instead lifted up his water bottle. When Renathan had been searching for the pesky stopwatch, he completely missed the stallion's valiant swimming ordeal against the pinprick sharp pains of the water jets that were there to forcefully give him some backlash to help with his resistance training. Renathan had not seen how he had waded in the shallow water for a little while, touching the ground boredly. He was not able to swim in the shallows like this, and he naturally wanted to move forward, to swim well, that was what he felt like was natural to him, after all! It was labs-instilled and not at all natural of course, but even though Renathan would have known that if he had been paying attention and probably would have been able to note that had he been doing so.
The stallion had then worked ferociously, churning the water with his feathered legs, the water never quite reaching his skin due to the oily substance that tended to keep it from wetting him to the bone like it would most other equillion. He fought against those prickly little water jets with all of his might, gaining ground and then being pushed back, and all the whole while of this repeating, gaining ground and pushed back, gaining ground and pushed back, as the tiny and painful pinpricks of water continued to just assault his hide. However, he was large creature and very stubborn, and eventually, just before Renathan looked up from whatever he was doing that was not paying attention to the stallion just at that moment, the large bay equillion stallion was just barely able to gain some purchase and push himself just beyond where the harshest of the painful jets were, and he was able to get to the middle of the pool, where he could actually begin swimming, which he was actually much better at, instead of slipping along the bottom of the pool. Renathan had seen him then, after all of that hard work, simply in the middle of the pool, pushing past all of those jets and Renathan had not realized all of the work that the stallion had to put in to even get there in the first place. Renathan waited until the stallion got to the waterfall, and began to dunk under the water to swim beneath it, perhaps for an added bit of challenge? As soon as this happened, Renathan quickly pulled out the stopwatch and started it, he knew that he needed to keep up with how much time the stallion was actually spending under the painful deluge. The idea would be that the pain and continued pressure would toughen up the stallion's hide or something right? Or was it more of a being able to ignore pain thing? Renathan had no idea. Truth was that some species were quite resistant due to shells, and some were quite resistant due to other such things, like general pain tolerance, so it was a bit of a mix of both? Or perhaps it had more to due with the hormonal reactions to pain and other such things. Renathan would probably never know that, either.
The stallion dunked his head and went under the water just as the stopwatch turned on. The stallion had no fear of needing to come up for air, because he was able to both breathe air and in water. He would never completely understand those like Renathan that could only do one or the other. However, he had felt before when Renathan was feeling stressed due to being under the water for some time, and was growing much more understanding of the needs of the fragile mammalian, or rather, fragile in comparison. At this moment, however, he was alone in the water, and could spend as much time here as he wanted. Shy Guy absolutely loved being under the water, it was practically home to him, and as such, he meant to stay as deep in the pool as he could for as long as Renathan would allow him to stay here and under. Shy Guy of course had no idea why Renathan wanted him to leave sometimes and stay other, he could see nor did he look for any rhyme or reason for it. That was just the nature of being what he was, of course, in that he could breathe that. Renathan had no idea what the mechanism was, and Shy Guy would never have had the presence of mind to think of such things. Instead, the stallion realized that once he dipped below the waterfall, that it HURT. However, he was stubborn. He absolutely refused to be bullied by the stining water of the very fast-falling waterfall, for what it was. He refused to move up, because despite the pain, he could still breathe! As Renathan timed his period beneath the waterfall, it became more and more obvious that either Renathan had completely misinterpreted the stallion's resistance already, or perhaps even that he had already began to work on it, perhaps it was all of the continued bathes that Renathan gave him with the water hose, or perhaps it was the one that they just took, perhaps it was the work he gave at the water jets from earlier that Renathan hadn't known completely about, or perhaps even the thing was that the stallion had managed to gather some kind of fortitude from enduring the heat from the long walk this go around? Renathan had no idea what to think about it, in all truth!
About an hour later, the stallion removes himself from under the waterfall, having finally given up and was ready to go home to get some chow. Renathan happily packed everything up, having given up on timing the creature about halfway through that. He was quite pleased with the resistance that the creature had shown him, thusfar! Renathan and the stallion gathered the tack, and Renathan made sure that the creature was completely dry before quickly putting the tack back on him, making sure that the fit was right before putting the hackamore on him. They left the gym quite quickly after that, to make the long trek back in the heat to the front desk. Renathan knew that they would be just fine today!

Renathan had certainly not been excited about doing this today, even though he knew that it had to be done. The morning was ephemeral, wispy, with mist coming up off of the dew on the grass in the just-rising red-pink morning sun that was just beginning to peak over the horizon. Renathan could not see; and neither could Shy Guy, it seemed. So it wasn't a magical mist, he figured, since Shy Guy could indeed make some kind of magical mist thing, not that he had really considered the thought that it could have been magical. Renathan was just used to looking for things like that, wondering about what he should consider to do next just in case anything was going to happen. After all, he had been in the pit multiple times and aggravated a few people, so he was always on the lookout for the vengeful. Pethia was a somewhat lawless place in comparison to his homeland. Renathan hated to even think about that, but it was true. He had no exactly thought about that before coming to Pethia, and it was somewhat scary once had had gotten here for the first time; and presumably in the worst port possible from what he had heard since. Ah well, Renathan had the best luck it seemed, and he had managed to be often quite safe in otherwise more dangerous areas. Not all the time, it seemed, as Renathan could remember that fateful trip in the mines that had gotten Lisle, then a chocolate-colored chiryma chick instead of a chocolate-colored grown balgor, severely injured. It was very scary in that instance, and it was possibly because Renathan had managed to mostly avoid danger in other situations before. Renathan had to think about it for a long time after it, and he hated it. He had felt bad for so long, that his creatures had been permanently more protective of him ever since... Well, the ones that were linked to him mentally, anyway. Renathan hated that he had made all of his creatures antsy, as well. That was super important to the way that he had trained them, well, important in the way that it was bad. A nervous creature is a dangerous one, and Renathan prided himself on keeping his creatures polite in public. He was a bit worried that they would attack a perceived threat as he took them around the city; especially Shy Guy. Shy Guy was especially bad about being aggressive, and had just recently been taught to be polite as Renathan used him as transportation around the town! Renathan knew that the creature would really go back on his training if he continued to feel negative all the time. So Renathan reigned it in the best he could, and tried to go past it. It was so hard, but he had done it. He felt a lot better now that the balgor was stronger, at the very least. Shy Guy was a lot more calm, but still seemed to cast wary eyes towards anyone that got too close to Renathan. Renathan hoped to break him of that. As they walked across the lawn, towards where Renathan had been told that the Stamina yard was (in the very back of the facility from where he was, for creatures of Shy Guy's size anyway!) Renathan knew that they were going to have to make a stop about halfway there to unlock the gate for the weight-pulling cart. He was hoping that Shy Guy would be able to make it there without too much trouble at least, though he knew that it was going to be hard. Even though the yards were generally as flat as possible, Renathan knew that any bump in the road could cause issues for the stallion, and he knew that it would be absolutely perfect for the creature to be able to train quite well! They were about halfway done with the entire endeavor, but that deadline was coming so incredibly soon, and they could not waste any more time doing things that weren't this, until they could manage to get that last bit of training done. Renathan wasn't going to start that training until Shy Guy was done in the training gym. He was already quite tired, and he'd been getting a little muscle himself just from the exhaustion that he was going through in training the huge bay equillion stallion! Renathan had been thinking very hard on the actual tourney lately. He knew that he needed to figure out how to get their strategy working just right. There were so many issues he hadn't figured out yet! He was quite concerned about it. For one, the stallion was trained to dodge so well, that he was sure that the equillion could get away pretty well infinitely away from any physical attack. However, he also knew that he would have to turn around and attack at some way! He knew that the moment the stallion turns around, that the enemy would have a shot to kill him; and that was terrible. Especially if they were faster than him, and the chances of there being a faster creature than him was an extreme one! Renathan had no idea what to do about that, since they had done all they could to get his reflexes much more improved over the case. Renathan was somewhat concerned about this part, but there was more to worry about. The next part was that it seemed that the stallion's electrical thing had a one-time shot. He didn't seem to be able to continually blast these lightning bolts, and Renathan was sure that there was some animal out there somewhere that was going to deal with his blast without being killed. The only other tools in their kit were physical attacks, and other creatures had undoubtedly been trained to dodge just as well, and that was super bad too. Renathan knew that the stallion had a couple of bits in his toolkit to try to get cheap shots; but he would have to really get a read on every single situation to make sure that it was going to work on that way every time that they get a chance to do it. A lot of those were one-shot too, so if they made a mistake it was over. Renathan was terrified, needless to say, that they would lose. However, he also knew that Shy Guy had trained hard, and was a lot more better conditioned than any of the equillion he knew of; and he was ready. With thanks from the potion that made him much larger, the equillion was going to be an unstoppable force for really anything that was even as strong as him. However, the ones that were stronger, more technical, or had any kind of a leg-up was going to be a technical fight at best, and a massacre of an equillion at worst. Renathan was absolutely terrified, now that it was becoming so real, it was coming up so soon, and he had learned that Jack was going to bring Kro. He was actually more excited about getting to go up against Kro, but he was kind of wishing he had trained up his wiurn instead, knowing that a wiurn would fare just a little bit better against the likes of a huge thundergug. Renathan was excited to see if they could take him, but Renathan was sure that it would be difficult. That was good; Jack was an amazing creature tamer. Renathan was still nervous though. Then again, win or lose, there would always be next time, right? Renathan knew that they needed to follow through with this, but the idea was just exhausting. Renathan stood there, holding Shy Guy's reins, and staring into that mist, thinking about all of the different and dangerous things that could happen. He had to stop feeding into this. Shy Guy finally nudges his shoulder with his nose, looking at him with bright blue eyes, questioning. Renathan finally snapped out of it, smiled reflexively beneath the mask, and then petted the stallion's nose. He told the creature that they were going to be okay, and that they had work to do. The pair walked into the fog, leading a stallion that also couldn't see well in it, and knew that they were like the blind leading the blind. Renathan swallowed at the idea of this, and received another concerned nose-bump in the shoulder by the huge bay equillion stallion. Renathan chuckled; he felt like he was being mothered by the creature, and voiced that in a joke-disdained way. Renathan pushed on the stallion's shoulder gently, joking with him in the way that they did. Renathan's pets always seemed to make him feel a bit happier, even when he was feeling worried. He hadn't really thought of it that way, but he figured that they were just taking care of him as much, or more than, he took care of them. Being a creature tamer was really rewarding work, but also quite tiring, Renathan was very sure. He nearly slipped, not quite seeing a mole-hill, and immediately the stallion reached out and grabbed a few of his braids in his teeth to keep him from falling. That hurt- but Renathan knew that the stallion had been doing that specifically because it was worried about him. He didn't hold on to his braids any more than he had to, and Renathan was grateful for the help. Mostly because he was carrying some heavy leg weights and yet another set of weights for the stallion's use a little bit later. [1610]

Renathan was exhausted already today, but was really trying to stay strong for the benefit of the equillion, because the creature needs this training to even survive, and Renathan's own sore muscles didn't mean that the equillion should have his head start completely removed. This was important, Renathan told himself this morning as he was waking up, so important. He forced himself out of bed despite the difficult to move arms and legs, and took a shower before getting dressed. He skipped his breakfast then to feed the creatures, and then packed himself a quick breakfast to bring with him out here while the stallion was eating his own breakfast. Renathan figured that this would work quite well, because he would be able to eat when he got hungry later, when the stallion was able to do the exercises by himself and without Renathan's help. Renathan knew that the stallion would need his help at first, he always seemed to, and it didn't bother him at all. The equillion was always so eager to please, at least because they were quite used to each other now, and the stallion certainly knew that there would be rewards as soon as they were finished. Renathan always took him to the orchard to get some of those nice pink apples that he liked a lot! It was on the way home to his farm anyway, and Renathan really enjoyed taking the equillion there to pick out a tree to buy some of those apples from. Renathan did care a whole lot about this kind of thing in general, making sure that his critters were well fed and enjoyed themselves, hopefully to make sure that he would be able to let them have some enjoyment randomly too, especially the whole treats thing. Healthy treats were also good, and Renathan noticed that the stallion tried to eat less birds the more apples he had during the day. Renathan fed him other things normally, mostly fruits and such though, a wide variety so that he would be healthy. However, Shy Guy always liked the pink apples so much more than anything else he was allotted during his feed and treats for whatever reason that wound up being. He was sure that it was just a taste thing, but Renathan himself couldn't tell the difference between the taste of these pink apples that he used for Shy Guy's treats, and the yellow, red, and green apples that were also available. Were the pink ones preferred due to color alone? Renathan was sure that it just couldn't be it! It made no sense, did equillion even see colors, anyway? Renathan knew that some mammals didn't see all of the colors that humanoids tended to. Heck, some humanoids didn't even see all of the colors that others could see either. Eyes were an interesting thing to think about, after all. Renathan thought about these things as they tried to navigate blindly through the fog that was both glowing due to the light of the sun and so thick that it could probably have been cut like butter!
The stallion seemed somewhat nervous as well, flickering his ears one direction and then the other, listening for any sounds. The morning was just golden, and the brightness was more unsettling to the both of them than any light could have perhaps been. Renathan knew for a fact that they should be safe where they were in the labs, but he still really hated not being able to see well or enough to be able to be safe and keep those he cared for, like the equillion, safe. He hoped that they would make it soon, and that he would not manage to accidentally trip over any of the concrete between there and there, as he knew that there were plenty of walkways that would be around and he knew that this was going to be a huge problem if they accidentally tripped or otherwise in such a way to hurt their ankles. Especially the equillion, because they had rather delicate legs after all and Renathan knew that it would be terrible for him to get hurt at all, but especially this close to the tourney that they were working so hard towards. That tourney was so soon, and Renathan knew that the poor creature would not have time to heal before so, even if the healer was involved, due to the mental effects that such an injury would have on the beloved animal. Renathan was always so very careful with his animals, and he knew that any misstep could lead to long standing issues. He didn't want his stallion to be harmed ever, of course, or really any of his creatures. Just the thought sent Renathan into one of those little mini-spirals he was so used to having about Lisle's previous injury. He could still see it in his mind, how pitiful it used to be, and how regal he now looked, more like a warrior with an old injury than a wronged child now. Renathan could imagine the same thing with Shy Guy, and then that devolved into an anxiety crisis about the ways that Shy Guy could be hurt in this tourney; probably would if they were not careful. Renathan was terrified of such things, but his desire to win was much stronger than fear of losing, at least right now. Renathan thought about this a lot though, and the closer the fateful weeks drew to a close before the whole tournament's entry date end, Renathan thought about it more and more until it was beginning to be a nearly inescapable loop that he just couldn't even think about other things without getting brought back to it. He had apparently stopped within the super thick fog, because he was being nuzzled in the back this time by the huge bay equillion stallion's nose, telling him to move and get out of his pointedly horrible mental state. Renathan was worried about it still, but was brought to and it was time to keep going if they were ever going to make it.
Renathan couldn't help but shake his head as he tried to push the ideas and thoughts from his mind. He wanted to think about other things right now, and keep working towards their goal. They had to get there, even though this walk in and of itself was going to be a test of stamina, especially since they couldn't see to assume what the whole thing was going to be in general. It was going to take a super long time in order to really get this over with, and Renathan was not exactly mentally ready for the long haul today. There was so much going on at home that he just didn't feel like he could actually calm down long enough to do anything he really wanted to do. The gym training was more of a requirement instead of something like a fun activity. The grueling nature of it all was really putting his patience to the test, as well as his ability to actually deal with the vigor in his mind and body. It was really quite tiring to him, but Shy Guy didn't seem to be going through anything at all like he was. The huge equillion had the stamina and strength of several creatures Renathan was sure, he was certainly a lot more powerful than he was, and it was quite extreme to even consider what that really seemed like. Shy Guy was more than patient with Renathan in general despite his weakness. Renathan had been sick during the winter, he really hoped that he would be able to get out of getting sick this upcoming few weeks, even though he was generally sick every time he pushed his body to the limit and it caused issues for him. He had to deal with this the right way, and get everything done instead of actually causing any issues for the stallion to worry about instead of the tourney. The tourney would be hard enough for him without having to worry about Renathan at the same time. Renathan really had to consider all of the possibilities when working with creatures for tournaments. This would be his first non-sarane one after all, and he was quite scared. He'd never even won a sarane tourney anyway, and that meant his track record was basically all losses, in his books. Anything that was not a total win was a loss to him. Renathan thought about this all the time, even though it was generally a bad thing to think about bad stuff all the time. It was really dangerous to do such things all the time. Renathan was quiet as they continued to go through the thick as butter fog that surrounded the area. Renathan wondered if the fog was in all parts of the yard, or if they were going to come out of it any minute. Part of the issue was because he just couldn't see anything at all he actually had no idea if they were even travelling in the right direction any more. That was the idea anyway, and Renathan wished that he could see more than a foot or so in front of his face. This kind of thing was already quite difficult for him, at least due to the nervousness that he had been experiencing lately. It was of course made worse by the fact that he knew that he could not plan for every eventuality, and not even for what lay next in the thick fog. Sure the stallion did make him feel better a bit, at least he felt like he wasn't alone in the deep and thick fog of the area.

The fog seemed endless. One footstep after the other, both mammalian and equillion picked their way across the wet ground, feeling quite nervous about how the ground was basically flat most of the time but not always, because it had a few dangerous different little holes for poles and stuff as well as molehills and every little thing that who even knows what could be a huge issue. Renathan hoped that they would not fall on any kind of it. Renathan could probably deal with a sprained ankles, but he knew that the creature would not be able to deal with it at all! Anything even remotely equine had dangerously thin legs, and that had to be carefully watched for. Renathan knew that whenever they finally made it across this yard, that they would be stopping to check the stallion's legs, as they always previously had before, to make sure that the creature would be taken care of and wouldn't be doing anything too strenuous with horridly painful legs. That was the idea, anyway, and Renathan hoped that it would not at all be an issue if he was lucky. They didn't need any more problems than they already had between now and that tournament they were planning on working towards. The exhaustion was rather extreme, and Renathan just knew that everything would be fine if he could just push past and and through to the other side of it. He was the real weak link here, and not the huge bay equillion stallion that was working with him quite well. The whole idea was that at least, that was what he figured. Renathan had been planning on this for a long while anyway, but there was so much stuff going on in the year before that he had never really gotten to it. Now they were sorely up against the deadline and that was not at all good for them; they needed far more time than what they had to deal with this at least. Now it was really a race against time and it was terrifying in all respects. For one, the tournament was already going to be a nightmare, and Renathan knew that there was no real way that they were going to make it if he didn't try with all of his work Renathan was exhausted now, truly exhausted, and walking through this endless thick fog really made it feel like it was going to be that way without any end to it. At least in a dangerous tunnel there was a way to see the light at the end, and know that you were getting closer and closer to the goal. In this fog, it was nigh impenetrable and impossible for him to do anything of the sort. In fact, the red glow of the light from the morning sun, only just barely risen thus far probably, was illuminating the mist in a bloody and golden hue that was almost blinding. Renathan tried not to think of it too much at all, but it was really disorienting!
Renathan was very tired whenever he realized that he could see a little more in front of his face than he could before. Renathan did realize, however, that he was going out towards the track, because he could see the mud just barely, and not towards the direction that they had been intending on going during that time period. Renathan could have almost face-palmed at this; this area was not going to help them out any! Just how had they gotten that turned around in all of that fog? His luck was so bad at the moment, it seemed. Renathan glanced up at the stallion and stopped for a moment. Where was that in the relation to the track? Renathan needed to figure that out before they ever even got there. Renathan walked over to one of the posts and then dropped the reigns to get the stallion to stop so that he could try to figure out where to go next. The two of them needed to be as calm as possible to deal with this. Just about this time; his stomach grumbled. That skipped breakfast was about to make him a bit more distracted than he already was, and that was certainly not a desirable thing at all. He was hoping that he could hold out a little longer than this, perhaps skipping breakfast was not a very smart idea to really think about it. However, Renathan had no idea what to do about it in general, sure, they could stop here for longer so that he could eat, but then the stallion wouldn't really be doing anything to help him with the whole stamina thing. Then again, if Renathan made him race around the racetrack a few times, then they might actually have something there, and Renathan would be able to eat something out of his breakfast box in that meantime. It was okay if the stallion was tired by the time they got there, because the idea was that the creature would work on his ability to take more of a workout after all. That was what he thought anyway! Renathan was quite happy about the entire thing and maybe if they were lucky they would have this done before anything else could happen that was not quite lucky. Maybe even the fog would lift after they worked for some period of time? He sure hoped that it would be the case, because he could not stand the fog's strange effervescent light effects on his eyes. Now that he could focus on something specific, in this case the fence post, Renathan realized that he could indeed see that he had some of those strange light things on his vision that was really distracting him and causing some severe issues. It would be a good idea to wait here until the fog lifted so that he could eat his breakfast and the stallion could do some warm ups out in the track where it was a bit easier to see! That sounded like a great idea for now. Maybe it would be a lot easier to find the way the next time they came out here? He was sure hoping that it would be that way.
Renathan was tired of their rather shoddy luck when it came to the gym training, the gym training was quite difficult over all thusfar, and though they were about halfway done, he didn't feel like they could be any farther from the end of this. Renathan knew that they just had to hurry up and work on everything or they would never get done. He let the stallion know that they were going to be staying here, and then he carefully lead him into the dirt track so that he would know what he was doing. Then, Renathan quickly took the reins off of the halter to keep him from accidentally catching them on anything. At that, Renathan gave the command for the creature to run, figuring that the creature would hopefully get the idea of everything because of their link, Renathan knew that he almost always understood exactly what he was trying to get him to do. Renathan hoped that maybe everything would work out. He felt quite happy as soon as the creature managed to begin running has as he was told to, all the way down the track, and when he got to the turn he of course took a turn quite well. Renathan was glad that he got the idea about everything! He had been so nervous that it wouldn't go together very well at all. Hopefully it would be worked out quite well. Renathan and watched him go around the next curve before pulling out his water bottle and his breakfast box. He happily opened up the box and was glad to see that his breakfast was just as he left it, and still a little warm. He couldn't really tell the time by watching the sun at the moment, because of all of the fog, so he had no idea what the time was. However, it could not have been too long before the food was still warm, right? Sure, he'd cooked it right before they left. He was worried as all heck that it would be cold, perhaps this just felt like it was a lot more work than it had taken before, and that the time it took to get here would actually have been a lot longer than he had thought because it felt like it had been! Renathan could not wait for this terrible fog to lift so that he didn't have to deal with this at all. Renathan shook his head and then picked up the utensil, and began eating his breakfast. He was so happy that he had managed it, after all, and that they would be able to work on this quite well. Of course, Renathan always felt a bit better with food in him, anyway.
The stallion made his first lap without any issues at all, and raced along headfirst into another lap, speedy and with great reflexes enough to miss a molehill when he noticed it a bit too late. That was quite good; showing that the agility training had really done it's part, according to Renathan's eyes as he watched from his eating while sitting on a fence post. As soon as the fog lifted, he was sure that he would be able to take the bay equillion stallion right to the correct area and they would be able to really work on the entire thing much better than just running laps around the track.

Renathan was so tired and the meal wasn't really doing anything to alleviate that issue; the aching in his legs and arms that was caused from all of this work. He really didn't feel like doing the other things he was wanting to do in his life either, which sucked. He had to get through with this soon, he figured, or he may not be able to do anything at all for the rest of the month. Besides, they were up against the deadline. Sure, they had a week or so, maybe a bit more, but Renathan wanted to be done well before the deadline at all! That was important to him, and he knew that the stallion would do better if they had a week's worth of rest between then and there. That was the idea anyway! Renathan was tired too of course, and wanted to finish this so that he could rest his own body, preferably before he got sick. Renathan was always a bit sickly, at least since he had moved to pethia. He hadn't been before so, and he figured that it might actually be because the pethians had some weird diseases that he hadn't been dealing with in his homeland, so his immune system was probably working double time to keep up all the time. Renathan hated that a lot, but he was sure that anyone that had moved to a different continent would have the same problem, right? Most pethians didn't even know about his homeland, or that there were any lands beyond this one, and Renathan had no idea what to think about it really, but he did think about it often. Perhaps he should teach the pethians some more about the outside world? Then again, that sounded like it would cause more problems than not, most pethians were warlike and not all of them were clever at all, but the clever ones were also dangerous.
Renathan decided that it would be a bad idea to do that, at the very least. He was only about halfway done with his breakfast at the moment, and the stallion had already made three laps around the track. Because it was still cool this morning, for now anyway luckily, Renathan did realize that the stallion didn't seem to be sweating. Normally Renathan could tell when the stallion was sweating because the light would really bounce off of him and seem quite shimmery. And stinky. The stinky was a big issue with equillion sweat, at least. Renathan was quiet for a while, quickly trying to finish his breakfast. He had been so hungry, and now he was beginning to think that he ate too fast already... Renathan sighed, this morning was just not going well at all. He felt like he had been too busy to do this recently, and it was a shame. He really wanted to finish this so that he could do other things, that was super important! Renathan had basically been doing nothing except for feeding the creatures on the farm, and then working on this. He had done a few shop trips, and he was really beginning to feel the crunch. He wished that he was already done with this so that that he could do other things... His mind was going around and around in circles, and the stallion was not around to get him to snap out of it. Instead, Renathan noticed eventually that he was poking around at a mostly empty breakfast box. He sighed again, and quickly closed it up and wrapped it in the cloth, putting it in the backpack. He opened up the water bottle and took a sip of it.
After this, he knew that he was going to have to get the stallion a bucket of water. That would be a good thing, he knew! They had so much stuff going on, and with the stallion working so hard, Renathan didn't need to let him get dehydrated. They were so close to the deadline that he knew that any injury or other issue that would cause a trip to the healer would cause a severe issue and would not allow them to actually get to work in the tournament. Say, how many times had the stallion actually made the loop since he began eating? It would make sense to be four, but he was sure that it would actually be something else, who really knew how long that he had been actually staring down at his breakfast before putting it up? He finishes his sip from the water bottle, and tried to think about how many times the huge bay equillion had been running around the loop of the soft earthy track from the other day. Renathan knew that the stallion had a whole lot of stamina already, if he ever had noticed it, so maybe it wasn't a lot? He didn't want to exhaust him before they even got to work out on the equipment. Ah well. Renathan finishes the water bottle quickly, watching the stallion run the loop, and then puts the water bottle into his backpack along with the spent breakfast box. As soon as the backpack was zipped up, Renathan turned back around and slid down off of the fence post to the ground on his feet, knowing that they needed to get the training equipment on him already. That would work out quite well, Renathan felt.
Renathan could feel the soreness in his legs and arms, knowing that it was painful and he hated it. However, he couldn't let it stop him. No, he had to keep working on and on, they were about halfway done anyway. Renathan knew that he had to keep on keeping on, keep on working on this. He kept telling himself that they were halfway done, he really didn't know if they were but thinking that made him feel a bit better about the entire thing, and he needed to feel better so that he didn't give up. Sometimes he felt like he was on the precipice of giving up all the time anyway, and that was bad. Renathan had to keep on. Whenever the stallion made the loop enough to where Renathan could see him and they were facing one another so that the equillion would see his hand sign, Renathan gave him the sign to stop, and then watched as the creature stopped in his tracks, on a dime even. Renathan chuckled; the stallion worked so hard all the time, and never once griped. Renathan wished he was more like Shy Guy, because he really didn't feel all that good, and Shy Guy never seemed to let anything get him down. Renathan shook his head thinking about this, and then remembered that he needed the huge bay equillion stallion to come up to him so that he could put on all of the equipment. Then again, water first, right? That was the best idea. Renathan gave a command that meant 'come here' and then began walking toward the water pump so that he could give the creature a water bucket whenever he got to Renathan. Unsurprisingly the creature ran forward and caught up to Renathan before he could even get to the water pump, and they walked together amicably, with Renathan giving the 'follow me' command signal for the creature. Renathan did enjoy having the creature around him to calm him down, for some reason all of his creatures tended to calm him down a lot. When had he become this anxious wreck? Renathan thought about it, and realized that it could have been anything that had happened since he had gotten to pethia. Perhaps it was the losing the tournament thing? He hated that, hated it hated it. He was terrified of losing, but not quite enough to keep him from trying again, that was for sure.
Shy Guy seemed to know where they were coming to, and Renathan stopped at the water pump. This was very good, they were going to work quite well! Renathan pumped the water into one of the buckets, and then moved it over to the stallion so that he could get a drink. Renathan was certainly feeling the burn in his arms as he did this; he had to fight it to deal with the entire thing, had to fight to lift it and move it over and even to put it down for the stallion. The equillion noticed this, and nickered anxiously. He knew that this was a problem, and Renathan could feel something across the link that suspiciously felt like sympathy? Renathan hadn't felt that one before, across any of his links, so he was a bit anxious about it! Renathan grinned to the creature, beneath the mask, and waved it off. It was fine, everything would be fine despite the painful arms and legs. Renathan stood there in a small amount of agony as the stallion began to drink the water from the bucket. This was good, soon, Renathan would be putting the equipment on the huge bay equillion stallion and they would be able to continue working on his stamina. The pesky thick fog that could be cut with a butter knife it was so thick had not yet let up, they could just barely see better in the area around the track, and that was probably because they had less dew on the grass in this area, namely because they had less grass on the track of course. That was pretty stressful, that was for sure.
Renathan watched as the stallion drank deeply, and was quite surprised that the creature was so thirsty even though the stallion hadn't really sweated during the entire part of the running and warming up he had just done earlier! That was surprising, and maybe a bit worrying? Was he a bit more tired than he was letting on? Renathan was sure that it was the case, and stared the creature down, looking for any kind of indications that the creature was actually a lot more tired than he looked upon the first glance that Renathan had given. Renathan ultimately could not find any, and he was worried that this could be an issue in the future whenever they began working in the tournament. Renathan would need to read his moves perfectly, after all, and what if he couldn't do that well enough? Renathan over thought about things entirely too much, he decided, and then he tried to push it out of his mind as the stallion drank from the water bucket. Soon, Renathan hoped that it would be drained and that he would be able to continue working on the entire thing. They were so close, he told himself, so close and they were going to pull this off regardless of how many things got in the way. He wouldn't give up, and neither would the stallion. Shy Guy was just hard-headed that way, after all.

Finally, the stallion finishes his drink, and Renathan moves the now quite empty bucket over to the water pump and stacked it with all of the other buckets. Renathan was really having a hard time keeping the motivation for this entire thing since he had worked so hard on this thus far and was incredibly burnt out. VERY burnt out. However, he just had to do this, just had to. They were so very, very, very close. Renathan breathed out, and then breathed in, making sure to count it. The stallion nuzzled his nose into Renathan's back, just when had he gotten behind him? What was this reaction, anyway? Was he really just this overworked? He never felt this overworked when the gemstone workshop was going on, but then again, that was his happy place, for sure! Renathan wished that it was still open, because then he wouldn't have to do all of that other work for extra credits that he needed in order to raise all of his creatures, and then he wouldn't be overworked because he and Shy Guy could just use entire days to do this, instead of having to cram it into such a small amount of time so that he could work as well. It was just too much to think about, and Renathan hated it, hated it. He wished that he could go back and start working in the workshop again. That was his trade, anyway. The rest of his odd jobs were fine every now and again; he did enjoy helping others work on things, especially the ones that couldn't get out due to being older or sick. However, he absolutely hated having to take on some of the more rich customers for the extra credits; because they were often pompous and strange. A certain blond human came to mind when he thought of that. In fact, he had just began thinking about this previously, and it was causing issues.
As soon as he had woke up this morning, he'd had a little moment of simply not wanting to get up at all and just wanting to ignore the whole day. As soon as they would be done here, he had about a billion other things to do. That was stressful, and he was not looking forward to having to do with all of this and it was just too much. The stallion nuzzles him again, and Renathan pushes not to think about this. They needed to get done this morning, or this whole thing would be a waste anyway. They have so much going on, and he had no idea what to do about it. Renathan kind of just wanted to sit on the ground for a while, but that wouldn't help at all. Renathan looked over at the stallion, turning around so that he could see him, and then he petted him on the snout. This may be hard for Renathan, but he knew that it was not near as hard on the stallion, and wasn't it supposed to be the other way around? Was the stallion supposed to be the one dealing with the physical aspect? Renathan shook his head. Alright, enough was enough, and the russet mammalian had to get things done. First, it was time to check the stallion's legs just as he had before. First things first, Renathan told himself, it was time to check the front left leg.
He put his hands on the stallion's shoulders and then bent down gently, holding and gently suggesting the stallion to lift the left front leg; and the equillion managed to do this gently and without any issues. Once again, that Tolerance thing was the best trick Renathan had probably trained a creature because it just worked so well for these kinds of things. Renathan kept his padded palms on the stallion at all times to let him know where he was as he did this. He just barely kept his fingers and the claws from getting tangled in the fetlock as he checked the stallion for injuries or anything that could cause issues for them. Renathan checked for swelling, heat, or any excessive flinching, so that he could make sure that the creature didn't have any stress fractures or anything at all that would be an issue. Soon, Renathan was pleased with the front left leg and then he moved up, keeping his palms sliding against the stallion's fur at all times so that the creature knew exactly where Renathan was at all times so that they would not have any accidents at all. Renathan was always worried about things like this. He probably wouldn't treat a sarane like this at all, they had thicker and meatier legs than the equillion did! Renathan moved over to the right leg, keeping his palms on the stallion at all times. He bent down, holding and carefully suggesting that the bay equillion stallion to lift the front right leg, and the stallion mages to do this once again without any issues, gingerly. At that, Renathan bent down, keeping his padded palms on the stallion at all times to let him know where he was as he usually did. He managed just hardly to keep his clawed fingers from tangling in the fur at the bottom of the leg as he checked for injuries in this other leg. He didn't want anything to cause issues for them at all, it was very important! Renathan checked once again for any heat, swelling, or flinching, as per usual. After being satisfied with seeing nothing that indicated any stress fractures or other issues. With that, Renathan moved up again, as always keeping his palms sliding against the stallion at all times so that the creature knew exactly where the russet mammalian was at all times so that the large creature didn't kick him in the head or anything like that. Renathan knew that he needed to move over to the hind legs now, the best way possible.
The stallion didn't have any issues as Renathan smoothed over his fur, his padded palms against the equillion's flank at all times. Then, he got to that right hind leg. He knew that this was technically the most dangerous part of the equillion, but with all of the confidence of a farrier, he knew that they were going to be just fine. He'd done this so many times before that his confidence was really showing through. Renathan started by keeping his padded palms on the stallion again, not moving them for anything so that the stallion couldn't kick him in the head. He put his hands on the stallion's side and then bent down, sliding them down the leg, holding it and just hardly suggesting that the stallion lift it, as he had done many times before. The stallion was well trained, and lifted it up quickly and quietly, holding it in such a way that the stallion would have no issues and Renathan would have an easier time of checking where he needed it. He actually tangled his pinky of one hand in the creature's fetlocks, and gently pulled it free, nearly cursing. The creature had some incredibly long fetlocks, and they were constantly wet, which caused all sorts of issues! Renathan hated that, he shook his head and then sighed. He managed to get his pinky free without startling the stallion and then he continued back up, checking from any kind of breaks, or any indication of one, knowing that something that was hot, tender, or swollen would definitely be an indicator to go to the healer instead of continuing doing this sort of activity. He didn't want his creature hurt if he didn't have to at all! Renathan didn't feel anything of the sort, which was good. He gently moved up, keeping his padded palms across the fur just again, and he knew exactly how to deal with this. The stallion put his foot down with a heavy thump, and Renathan moved back up and over the side of the stallion. He had to move around the front and over to the other hind leg the best that he could; keeping his hands on the creature all the way back over to the final leg's flank, the hind left one. This was good, at least. After checking all of these, Renathan knew that he would finally be able to get the equipment on the creature, at least.
Renathan kept his paddded palms against the stallion's fur as he moved down to the left hind leg. He knew that this was the more dangerous end of the creature, keeping that in mind of course but not being afraid of it. He had done this a lot, after all, and the equillion did not ever wish Renathan any harm at all. They were pretty well bonded at this point, anyway. The stallion was already trying to lift his leg just barely, anticipating Renathan's movements. However, he knew not to completely go through with it until Renathan had started it, anyway. Renathan started by keeping his palms as always on it, to let the stallion know exactly where he was. He put his hands on the stallion's side and then bent down, sliding them down the leg and holding it up. Just the slightest indication of a lift caused the stallion to lift the heavy leg up and let Renathan do what he was supposed to do with no issues flat! The stallion was well trained, after all, and Renathan hoped that he would be even more well trained in the future, if he had any indication. He managed not to tangle his pinky of either hand in the long and slightly wet fetlocks this time, so he didn't have to do anything with that, which was good. Three out of four so far was not bad at all! Renathan wondered if it would be worth his and the stallion's time to actually shave these fetlocks and then keep them trimmed instead of free-flowing? Would that help, Renathan thought so anyway. Renathan continued back up the leg quite slowly and expertly, checking for the indications of a break or other leg injury. He didn't want to have issues at all, and this was important, right? He checked for heat, tenderness, and swelling of course again, to make sure that they would not have to go to the healer at all. He hoped that everything was okay, and then soon he was able to make sure that the stallion was not hiding any breaks or anything from him! That was good, Renathan was always quite cautious and worried about this kind of thing, any thing that could go wrong at this point would cause a delay that would keep them from going to the tournament, after all! That would be horribly bad, and Renathan did not want to have to deal with that! Luckily they were done now. Now onto getting the actual equipment on, right?

As Renathan rose up, really feeling the burn in his arms and legs, and his head buzzing and light from having bent down for so long, he noticed that the fog was lifted up! That was good, Renathan knew! He was so excited about this entire thing, this meant that not only was he going to be able to put on the stallion's training gear, but that they would also get to use the weight pulling cart! Sure, there was still some fog, but he could definitely see now! The stallion seemed to have noticed it a lot before, because he was already moving towards the stuff that Renathan had left on the posts so that they could know where they were when they were ready to get them working on this again. Renathan stepped on over to the fence post that he had left all of their things on earlier as well, following close to the side of the stallion, so that a random rogue kick couldn't hurt him at least. He felt like they were very close to finishing this up, but he was still so tired, so very tired. He steeled himself as he get over to the equipment. He checked them over to make sure that each one appeared to be in good condition; he had just bought them but they were usually brought out to the buyer instead of picked up by the buyer, after all. Renathan knew that, and he knew that he was going to have to work on making sure that everything remained in the best condition possible at all times. Renathan moved forward and picked up the leg weights first.
These first, he told himself, and then the back weights, right? Renathan bent low and then gently set forward and looked over the entire thing before bending the rest of the way down and figuring out how to put them on the stallion's legs. Down here beneath the equillion would normally be a very scary area that most owners would stay away from out of fear of getting kicked in the head, but Renathan was confident that the creature would be able to keep from doing so, because he cared for Renathan quite a bit. Renathan managed to get it hooked on to the left and right front legs, before moving back even more cautiously and carefully putting the remaining ones on the leg and right back legs of course! Renathan managed to pat the stallion gently, and raise back up, all without getting kicked. The stallion lifted his legs experimentally, and then seemed to be fine with it. Renathan then slung the other weights over the creature's back and then began fitting the hackamore back over the stallion's head. The careful work that Renathan had done was certainly paying off, the stallion had a lot more weight on him and it didn't seem to bother him much at all. Renathan was pleased with this, and nodded to him. Then, Renathan collected the rest of their things, and they began moving over to the stamina training field quickly enough. They made their way across the glistening grass in the sunlight, and Renathan was still in a lot of pain, and now had a headache. However, he knew that they could do this!
Once they got there, Renathan managed to be able to get the creature over to the training field and quickly open up the gate to get the heavy cart out. Renathan was happy with this, and then quickly figured out how to get the heavy cart out and managed to get it hooked up to the equillion. Now they can really do the hard part! Renathan first tried to lead the equillion out into the field, but at first he had a bit of a hard time pulling the cart. After straining for a little bit, the stallion finally began to move it forward, not really using his strength but instead using his own force of will to do so; would that even be considered stamina? Renathan had no idea about that, but he was glad to see what he figured was progress! Renathan lead the stallion around in a circle at first, and then gave him a moment or two to rest. That was a lot of work, Renathan could tell! This weight cart was almost far too heavy for the stallion to use it, if it weren't for the elixir of growth, Renathan wasn't sure that his pure would be able to even pull the cart at all! Renathan knew that if they kept working on this today that they would probably be able to pull it even better next time. They were still entitled to one more 'point', whatever that meant on the forms, in something after this. He wondered how much work it really made for one more of these supposed 'points'. After working on and off with the cart for the next two hours. Renathan finally decided to put all of the equipment up; the stallion was super sweaty and Renathan needed to get him home anyway. They went back to the front area of the gym to check out after this.

Renathan was back this time, yet again, and he was feeling just a tad better. He still wasn't feeling very confident about this at all; it was the last bit of work that they could do, and Renathan felt like no matter what they really did, that he wouldn't be able to win anyway. However, he still owed it to the stallion to try. So they were here again, russet mammalian standing next to an absolutely huge bay pure equillion. Today was going to be a rough one, that was for sure, and he really didn't know if he was completely ready for this. However, as he had been thinking previously, the poor equillion would be killed for sure if he wasn't careful and didn't work hard enough. They had dangerous enemies; lots of them. Thundergugs, possible sarane, certainly a wiurn he was sure of it. Their chances of winning were slim to none. However, Renathan hadn't really expected being such an underdog in this thing; he expected a few different partially trained pets, not so many really well trained ones. He hoped that they had a chance, but that slim chance really felt like it was slipping away a bit at a time. Of course it was simply all in Renathan's head, he had some kind of a horrible fear about losing, and the closer they got to the entire thing, the more the fear was rearing it's ugly head. Shy Guy was actually a wreck today, an absolute wreck because Renathan was as well. The shared link was more of a hindrance than a help today, the stallion was dancing about, lifting and lowering his feet rhythmically and one at a time. Renathan tried to still him with a pat to the shoulder, and instead found his own hand trembling. They were so close, yet so far. All of these other creatures were much, much stronger than he was. That was for sure. Renathan had no idea what they were going to do now, except for trying desperately to finish their training regardless. They were right up on the deadline at this point, and he knew that everything that was entered was going to be giant, elemental, and tough. He sure hoped that they wouldn't have any issues at this point. He really needed to outspeed everything if possible! That was the idea, anyway, but he wasn't sure exactly if they were going to make it. Maybe they should just bow out now, while they could? Renathan's attitude sure wasn't helping the equillion out any, and even if the creature could understand what was making him worried, he had no idea what he would have felt about it. Renathan knew that the only real thing that the stallion could feel from him was concern and fear, and that was making the pure equillion feel like he was possibly in some real danger; perhaps a toothy enemy coming to hurt them? Neither of them were really in the right place mentally to be doing this today, but Renathan knew that if he put it off, he would never be in the right place. They needed to just go into this the best possible and just deal with it as well as they could. Renathan thought that, but still wasn't able to shake the feeling that he had. It was a horrible feeling that was just gripping him. It had been especially bad this morning, when Renathan had rolled over to see the first indication that the sun would be coming up in about an hour. He usually got up about that time to feed his creatures on the farm; it was incredibly important that he did that, since he had to use the real daytime, the sunlight hours, to do other things that he needed to do on the farm and elsewhere. However, this morning when he got up, he didn't really feel safe. He curled up under the covers quietly and tried to think about everything that was coming up soon. He was really trying to keep calm, but he just wasn't able to keep it cool and everything. That was what Renathan thought anyway, but he wasn't doing a very good job of keeping calm, by what they could feel. The mammalian was certainly not doing good this morning, and had no idea what to do about it at the time. Instead of getting up and pushing through it as he had been doing the last few mornings. He just felt awful, a bit sick and awful. His body was sore, he felt bad, he was quite afraid, and he didn't really feel like doing any of the things he was used to or like to do with it. He was quite a bit worried about that, and everything else, and he was horridly tempted to not actually do anything that day. However, his creatures needed feeding, and he could at least do that. He decided not to worry about anything else for now, and only to have to worry about the entire thing a bit later. Pets needed food, they relied on him, and he couldn't just ignore that in general. Renathan had gotten up, pushing up from the bed and swinging his legs over the side. After feeding the creatures, he took a good long time brushing the equillion's mane and such, knowing that it would make them both feel a little calmer. Renathan was guilty, because as soon as he saw the creature, he knew that the link had caused him issues. Renathan had nightmares all night, and though the stallion couldn't see those, he certainly had felt them. The stallion looked like he had been up all night without any rest at all, and that was just horrible. Renathan just didn't understand how he was supposed to keep this from happening. He had no idea if this was this way for other tamers; if their creatures felt such a strong connection with them that would cause severe issues. Renathan had calmed him then, and then made them both breakfast, but neither had eaten, so Renathan had brought it with them, carried in a bucket that he had slung over the stallion's riding tack. Renathan was sure that they would be able to make it, together. Perhaps he had been wrong? He was incredibly worried about this after all, because of the whole Lisle thing, and because of his rather horrid luck in the whole pit thing previously. Why was he considering joining in the fray again? His fear was really getting the best of him again on the way there, and now they were there and he had no idea what to think about it. It was terrifying to even consider what could happen to the equillion, being the only herbivore going up against so many carnivores... Wait, thundergugs were probably herbivores, right? Just what were they based on, anyway? Who really knew. Then again, Renathan was sure that someone out there probably knew. He didn't think too much about it, anyway. The stallion was still shaking as Renathan patted him down, trying to calm him with a pat to the forehead, scratching around the horn and between the ears before moving back down to the creature's nose to gently, ever so gently petting it. He knew that he needed to calm down, needed to calm the stallion down. They both couldn't be panicking, or they might as well go home instead. Renathan knew that they could not just go home, they were already here, standing on the grounds, and it was time to get forward so that they could go farther. He really needed to finish this, so that tomorrow he could break down and stay at home, at least. He sure hoped that he could, because he had no idea what to think about it. He was so concerned about everything thus far, however, he wasn't sure if he could go through with today, still. This was their last chance, their last real chance, and he couldn't figure out whether it would be better to teach the creature to have a stronger body, or help him to better teach the creature how to take more hits. Both of these things were incredibly important, after all, and he had to pick only one. He had chosen the stamina, but he had no idea if this was the worst decision he could ever make or not. One of these may save the equillion's life, and some of these may simply not be enough to keep him alive in the pit against things like sarane, wiurn, and other giant carnivorous animals. This was terrifying. Renathan couldn't continue forward today without petting the stallion and getting him calm, and he knew that, but the first step to doing that was going to be to calm himself down. He had to think about other things, like getting this done after all, and not about how much he may or may not be messing up with this... [1510]
