Renathan may not be feeling good at all, but he had to go through with this. He felt like he'd already walked a billion miles on this, and there was no point in stopping short just because of a bit of burn out and some rather severe reasons for being discouraged, anyway. It wasn't like this actually mattered or anything, it didn't matter. The healers would be there for if something happened, so it wasn't like the equillion would stay dead... But was Renathan stupid for letting his equillion presumably possibly get ripped to pieces again and again and again for his own sick gain? Would he even gain from it? The very thought of it coming to his mind made him feel sick, the bile rising up through his throat. He felt like he needed to have thought about this before committing to it; perhaps he should have trained a wiurn instead? Wiurn are basically for battles, after all, and he didn't really mean anything at all by putting an equillion out, a plant eater, a better mount than a fighter and hardly that. Renathan couldn't stop thinking about that at all. He shook, standing there at the edge of the yard on the pale white concrete, knowing that he needed to walk across there like he had every morning for the past few mornings, but he just couldn't get his feet to walk. Perhaps today was just a bad decision? Perhaps they needed to turn around? Renathan stayed in one spot, not swaying or turning from his position until he was ready to make his decision. The equillion was still antsy, and growing more antsy as he stood here. He had been fine the last few times that Renathan had brought him, after all.
Renathan knew that it was a pretty good indicator that he was probably too anxious to do this today, Renathan anyway, just seeing how he had broken into the stallion's own emotions and removed his usual calm veneer. Renathan's petting could not cause the creature to be able to calm down, and Renathan just couldn't figure out what was going on. He knew that the poor creatures at home, Lisle and Auburn, were probably reacting just as harshly. He hoped that they were able to calm themselves down, or perhaps even calm each other down? Renathan had no idea what to think about any of it. He felt like his mind was just chasing itself around and around and around again in circles. He shook his head, but couldn't really get it out of his head. Perhaps if he kept working at it, he would be able to keep himself from worrying so much. He knew that they were already here, and just needed to walk forward. It was a foggy day again today; the heat of the summer just starting to make up with the wetness of the springtime. It was a liminal part of year, but he had no idea what to consider with it. It was really too hot to be doing this later in the day, so it wasn't like he could just leave now and come back later on in the day when he wasn't feeling as emotionally frazzled; and he didn't want to take another day on this. They had to do it now regardless of how either of them felt. Renathan tried to still himself, but could still feel himself shake like a leafy in a typhoon's winds. He wasn't sure if they were able to do with this, but he figured at the very least he could get them across this yard, and maybe they could get a good breakfast down. Hopefully after this, they should be able to be calm enough to actually get started on the creature's training.
Renathan knew that they were really in the crunch time, despite his not wanting to step any further out into the grass. His padded toes were still atop the concrete, after all. He knew that they had things to do and places to be. This had to be done now. Today, he told himself, today. He began to slowly draw up the courage to continue today.

Renathan rocked a little on his feet, trying to get himself to edge forward, ever closer. He finally made it to the edge. He turned to continue petting the stallion's nose for a moment, drawing up the courage within himself while calming the stallion down. This was going to be a rough day, that was for sure, but they could do it. Together. That was the idea, right? They still had so much to do, but they could do it together and nothing, not even their fears would get in their way. Renathan cooed a bit to the stallion, and put the forehead of his mask to the stallion's face, gently. He hardly ever did this, but he figured that it would stop the shaking that the stallion was having, the antsy foot weaving at least, and it worked. Renathan knew his creatures quite well. Renathan was still nervous, but he pulled himself together decently enough. He looked out, drawing away from the stallion's face, into the sun glowing hazy wet morning, and knew that it was going to be a trek and a half. However, he now knew where the landmarks were; they would stop at the track with the water pump to drink water with their breakfast and do a preliminary check up and warm up before putting on all of the equipment, just as they had done last time. Then, they would wait for the fog to raise up just as they had done yesterday, and then they would make the rest of the trek out to the so called 'stamina training yard' and then get the creature hooked up to that big ole cart. That was the idea, anyway! Renathan steeled himself, trying to fortify his mind. They had a plan now. Focus on the plan and not on the future. That was the idea, anyway. Renathan knew that eventually he would do well, no matter what happened from here on out. Even if Shy Guy did get murdered horrifically in the pit every single match, all it would teach him is not to put in any more hope into his own work anymore. After all, he should have chosen a better fighter. It was his fault, and not the fault of anyone else that made better choices than he did on the regular. It wasn't his fault that his ideas were typically bad, but it certainly wasn't anyone else's either. Renathan thought of the plan, pushing those things out of his mind, and finally found out something. He was mad. At himself. Pissed actually. Absolutely irate. He should not have tried this hard, but darnit, he was going to finish this if it was the last thing he did. At that, he gave the stallion one last pat of reassurance, and then stepped off into the dewy grass.
The morning was so surreal. The sunlight was coming in full-force for a morning this morning. For one, the days were getting a lot longer. For two, and surprisingly enough, Renathan had spent a long time just standing there, consoling himself and the huge bay equillion stallion. Perhaps he would not have wasted so much time if he had just worked through this with someone else instead of attempting to deal with it on his own? An issues shared is an issue halved, right? Well, Renathan didn't seem to be that kind of calm, understanding person that was emotionally mature. Then again, who would he have learned that kind of thing from? Being raised up the way he did was not exactly conducive to learning how to be anything other than a mage or a creature tamer. That was the life that had been chosen for him by the accidental mistakes of his birth; the genes that had combined to make him who he was; one of the rare Crimsii that could feel magic. Because of that lonesome upbringing, he had been taught about everything but social and mental aspects, and as such it showed horrendously now that he was in a place that required such things. It was taking it's toll on his creatures, as well, this phobia of his, the losing thing. It seemed that such an individual would refuse to fight, seeing as they were terrified of one of the only two outcomes of the entire situation, but Renathan absolutely refused to fall victim to it. The pit was, after all, one of the only things the people around here did for any amount of fun whatsoever. Plus, there was no glory and nothing gained without a bit of pain, right? That was what Renathan thought, as he slipped on the grass and fell on his face, the stallion nearly stepping on him as he didn't quite see. However, whenever the stallion did see, he bent low to check on the russet mammalian anyway.

Renathan felt the wet grass on his face first, and then smelled the mushy earth and felt it up his nose at the same time. Then he felt the pain to his face of the impact, it almost felt distinct from the rest of it, like part of his mind was there in the dirt smelling the morning petrichor, and like the rest of him was writhing in pain, and like the other bit of him was feeling the dew soak into his fur. Renathan didn't really think anything at first; and then he cursed in his native tongue, and reached for his nose. It was bleeding a bit, but not a lot. Renathan wiped it off on the grass and then stayed leaned forward so that it would bleed itself out until it stopped up. Great, just great. This was not what he had imagined at all when he woke up this morning, not at all. The equillion was worried about him, leaned forward with it's neck arched up to look down on him without hurting his neck. Renathan realized a bit quickly, even though his eyes were watering and he couldn't see all that well, that he was between the front legs of the stallion. He could have been run over by the huge creature had he been any unluckier! Luckily, the huge creature liked Renathan well enough it seemed, well enough not to hurt him on purpose, at least. Renathan waited until his nose stopped bleeding, and then got up, pulling himself to his feet. Well, he was soaked now, to the skin, with the morning dew that he'd just fallen in.
He rubbed his nose on his arm to get the rest of the crust off, and then looked up, trying to blink the tears out of his eyes. Nose trauma always caused tears, he knew. That was what made it so dangerous in a fight; it obscured sight. He was already having a hard time seeing with all of this golden glowing fog, anyway. What trouble! The mammalian's luck always seemed to come and go in waves, always good, or bad for a long time, it seemed. He shook his head, and tried not to be angry; but it wasn't working. He was even more mad now; mad at himself, mad at the grass, but not at the creature. The russet mammalian rose to his feet and gently touched his nose. He figured that he should feel lucky that he was not a human; they had particularly delicate noses. His was mostly a part of his muzzle and therefore face, and not hanging off of it, so it would have been very hard for him to have broken it. He still checked it anyway, some long forgotten reflex, and then growled- the first time in a long time. He was so upset today, and he had no idea why anymore. It was all just trouble, and he didn't want to have to deal with any more trouble than he already had been all this time.
The stallion, while all of this was going on, was growing less and less scared, unlike he had been earlier, and was now growing more and more concerned with Renathan. The stallion couldn't really comprehend what was going on for him, so he had no idea what to think. Usually this being would sit up on top of his back, but whenever they were around here, it seemed, that didn't happen near as much. He would not know, of course, that Renathan didn't ride him here precisely for this reason; because if he fell with Renathan on his back then it would hurt both of them a ton more than it would have had otherwise, which would have been a complete mess, absolutely a lot worse than this otherwise just unfortunate spill that Renathan had taken. Perhaps if the two of them had a better method of communication than just an emotional bond, they would be able to understand each other better. Renathan may be scared of the tournament prospect and that the equillion may lose, but Shy Guy was not afraid of that at all. He would have loved the idea of such a dangerous sport; he was quite aggressive and often had to take these aggressive tendencies out on things that were not really good targets for that. He was dangerous to the other creatures on the farm, and had to be kept separate from all but a few of them. Even some of the sarane tried to keep their distance from him, unlike from before he had grown. However, it would seem that the pair, now that Renathan was standing, would need to keep walking, and without being able to tell each other these important things that would help them understand the entire situation more, and would probably put them more at ease than anything else more.

Renathan was not always the most practical thinker. Often he was high minded despite not quite understanding completely this new world he had found himself in once he had moved here. His homeland was a lot different, after all; they had different means of magic, different culture, different technology, literally everything is incredibly different. The languages didn't even have the same root, from what Renathan could tell, so learning the new language had been incredibly difficult. So how would he view Ribbons of Telepathy? Most saw them as an absolute requirement for training, and Renathan was just used to training with any kind of object that would allow for a literal train of thought to cross between the two. For one, he felt like his mind would be quite different than that of most creatures; and he had been right when it came to his sarane. So to keep from wasting a ribbon of telepathy, Renathan had worked on getting something to allow him to 'talk' to them, it was more like a translator for body language. He understood that it was a huge issue, anyway. He didn't want to rely on 'explaining' something to a creature if he couldn't physically get the creature to understand it with his usual methods. So he tended to leave Ribbons of Telepathy alone. He was sure that others used it for different languages, but Renathan did not plan on using the same methods. That was why he missed the point; that Ribbons of Telepathy made it much easier to explain emotions and such for those that would otherwise both share them and have no idea how to interpret such incredibly different things. However, Renathan just would not have thought about this because he had these wrong ideas about it. Still, now that he was back up and on his feet, he knew that they needed to go forward, and this newfound need to do better made him have a surge of bravery, making the stallion feel a little better and a little worse at the same time, but in different ways. Just why was Renathan suddenly a lot braver than what he was previously? Was the enemy here? The stallion looked around, but couldn't really see anything in the bright light of day. He had no idea what to think about it. Renathan lead the stallion forward anyway, and the huge bay equillion moved forward like absolute silk; he was in a lot better body condition now, after all, and it was clearly showing in his movements. He was absolutely terrifying, and would be to any other equillion that was much less aggressive, Renathan was sure.
The day would be exhausting, because Renathan knew that the miniature journey out to the stamina yard was going to be a long trek. Renathan also knew that today they would be working incredibly hard on the creature's physique as soon as they got out there, and he did not want the beast to be harmed, so as per usual he was going to have to get the creature checked out before they got out of there, for sure. He always did this, and thinking about the now-ritual made him feel a ton better. The stallion seemed to get more and more calm, cool, and collected as Renathan kept trying to get his own emotions and mental health in check. Renathan knew that he had been effecting his creatures in a terrible way, and he knew that he needed to work harder to keep his creatures happy than he was. It was just sad. Soon, the stallion was calmly looking forward at Renathan with his soft blue eyes, gently, as if he were beginning to understand just what was going on finally. Renathan was scared, absolutely terrified for some reason, and it wasn't any danger. Perhaps it was because he was worried about Shy Guy? The equillion figured that it was it, and then grew a lot more bold, no longer scared. He left that worry in the dust without any kind of difficulty after that of course, the stallion didn't really have the forethought to keep worrying about something he had figured out, of course. That was just how much creatures were, once the danger had passed, no need to fret about it. It was actually a lot healthier, that way, in a lot of ways, to deal with it like that.
Renthan had allowed his mind to ruin his day, this focus on the dangerous enemies they would probably deal with was just too much for his mind to completely deal with. He had been focusing on that instead of focusing on getting this done, and now it was going to be a difficult situation going on. Renathan always let his head turn his heart, as opposed to the other way around, and it was no better than if he had just dealt with the whole other way around aspect that most people dealt with.

The morning was just ethereal-like, just as wispy, and had just as much fog coming up off of the dew on the grass in the now decently high golden-crimson morning sun that was beginning to hopefully do more good drying up the fog than actually setting it up, now. Renathan could still not see, and neither could Shy Guy. It was a complete mess, and neither of them knew exactly where they were going, save for the vague direction of the track that they needed to get to. Eventually, Renathan was able to get the creature moving quite quickly, he was feeling a lot more confident now. Renathan knew that because of all of this sprinting and endurance training that they were doing over long periods of time, that he was beginning to sense a lot more improvement in the amount of time that the stallion dealt with the riding tack that he had on his back quite well. Renathan was quite glad that he was showing the examples of all of that hard work that he did as an outcome; he was slicker moving, had a lot better of reflex in his step, and a lot more force behind his step as well. His body was tougher, his skin tougher, and his mind tougher than when they had started. Renathan was proud of that; and beyond that, the length of time he could keep running now was just the icing on the cake. They were getting somewhere, absolutely getting somewhere! Renathan focused on the good of this, steeling himself completely now. He was ready to get them to the area were they would do their warm ups, and Renathan also noticed something else along the way!
The typical extreme heat of the early morning and the dense fog was being resisted quite better now that the stallion seemed to be improving on his physical conditioning. That was good at least! Renathan was so proud of that, for sure. They were making progress, they were certainly making progress. Renathan lead the stallion via his hackamore quietly and finally they made their way to the fog and over to the fence that was around the long track that they worked on quite a bit. Renathan was proud that they made it here much quicker today, but his stomach was growling pretty hard, and he was sure that the stallion was a bit peckish as well, since Renathan's foul mood this morning was certainly ruining both of their apatites earlier in the morning. Renathan opened the gate for the stallion and then pushed lead the stallion past it. They had several things to do all in quick succession here, but Renathan didn't want to waste time, but also didn't want to rush at all. Renathan lead the creature over to the buckets and the water pump from last time, knowing that it would be quite good for them to be able to get some water for the stallion just in case he was thirsty already. True to form, perhaps because he was water aligned at least somewhat he seemed excited. The stallion had been here several times before, and knew that the pump and buckets meant water. Renathan used the pump to fill up the water bucket for him, happily setting the bucket beside him whenever he was done to let him drink. Shy Guy happily drank through it, probably to replenish all of that water that seemed to be being lost by the wetness in the mane. That was the idea, anyway. Renathan smiled softly, and waited for the stallion to get done draining the bucket. Sure, Renathan was hungry, and they needed to get the eating on the way so that they could begin working out more than the race through the fog here would have done, but he also was the kind of person to calm down and smell the roses every once in a while.
Renathan was beginning to feel more like himself again, and that was good. The stallion finally finished his drink looking a lot more calm and happy than he had before this morning. That was good at least. Renathan put the bucket up, and then opened up his backpack. Inside was a decent sized bag of pink apples (the weight had been torturous on his back, especially since his arms and legs were still sore from all of this work they had been doing lately!) and his own breakfast. Renathan opened up the bag of apples and sat it next to him before pulling his own breakfast out and sat it next to him on the fence. Renathan would eat his own breakfast after the stallion ate his and then started running. It was decided. Renathan figured he would make breakfast a warm-up exercise too, and then after all of the warm-ups and breakfast, the mammalian knew that he would check the stallion's legs for any hidden injuries and then quickly get him suited up to do the very last leg of their training sessions. Renathan was certainly exhausted of all of the hard work, that was for sure.

Renathan wasn't sure what it was about Shy Guy, but he seemed to bounce off of Renathan's own emotions and personality quite well. He wasn't exactly sure why and probably would never. He didn't really understand everything in the way that a lot of people seemed to; people would talk so dryly about certain aspects of things 'stats' and such; he figured that people had all been here and used the forms, and used those terms colloquially to refer to certain aspects of a creature? He didn't really understand what a 'plus one' would be to that, or how those would be tallied, however. It made no real sense to him at all, and yet some people spoke in these terms like a secondary language, like they got more information than him somehow. Renathan wondered if there was something he was missing about the Labs in general, or if perhaps these people got an extra pipeline from the Labs that he just did not. However, even though he didn't understand the concept of why they called certain aspects about a creature's physicality by certain things, and why others apparently didn't matter? He would think that a measure of a creature's health would be called something, but no one really had a word for that concept. However, Stamina was apparently some kind of measure of a creature's ability to do some kind of physical activity for a prolonged time, or at least that was how it seemed to be presented to him whenever he had asked. He wondered if this was just how the labs denizens referred to it, or if it was something else entirely. Apparently a creature's reaction speed, or reflexes, somehow tied into something else, and not speed at all. How that made sense, he did not know. Renathan didn't really agree with any of it, but the exercising, regardless, was causing the stallion to have physical affects that were observable to him; thus Renathan simply taking the apples and deciding to make a training game out of it, now that the stallion seemed to be able to take some amount of time to be able to do these things without getting too exhausted about it. Renathan didn't have to worry about his whole thing before this of course, but now he was beginning to think again that he didn't have to worry about it any more! He was so glad about this entire thing, it was helping in at least some capacity at least.
Renathan made the whistle that said to run, and then he grabbed on the the apples. Then, he threw the apple out for the stallion, and the creature didn't catch it of course, he hadn't been taught to do so, but he ran to the apple and picked it up in his mouth, scooping it on the run. Well, that was good, that was for certain! Renathan waited until he figured that the stallion was finished with the apple before winding up and throwing another one in the opposite direction. Once again, the stallion took off running only in that direction, turning on the quickest to a dime that Renathan had ever seen in the stallion. It seemed that he was very motivated by food, at least! Renathan was proud of that, quite well. The stallion scooped it up off of the ground again and appeared to be chewing. Renathan tossed another apple as far as he could ahead of the stallion, and the huge bay equillion managed to get it at a super quick speed. Renathan was super proud of that! Renathan continued tossing the apples in this way one after another as a warm up, hoping that the creature would chase each apple quite well, and chase he did! He managed eating all of the apples in this way, and then whenever Renathan raised up his hands to say that he did not have any more of the crisp pink apples, the creature came to him and sniffed his hands, nuzzling him, and looking for more. Renathan sadly opened his hands and dropped them down, and then pointed to the empty bag, telling him that he didn't have any more. Renathan knew that he would give him better forage later, that was for sure. Renathan wanted him to have a more calm, light breakfast before they began doing all of this, after all! Renathan finally knew that he needed to get the stallion running so that he could have his own breakfast here soon. He had made himself bacon this morning from some bwee meat that he had bought the other day while going out for groceries, and he couldn't wait to have some soon! His body was very hungry now, and his stomach was quite growling. Renathan was quite happy about today now, talking about a mood swing! Maybe he was getting sick or something? It was beginning to feel like that now, and Renathan had no idea what it could be.

The fog was so very thick and bright with the sun still, but Renathan knew that they still have plenty of time to get things done before the fog would lift. Renathan was feeling a lot better, anyway, even though he was still a bit nervous, mostly about the entire thing that happened previously to him this morning. Or maybe it was him all along? Perhaps he wasn't sleeping enough? He was having a very hard time sleeping very well lately, and perhaps, he thought, that getting off of his usual sleeping schedule was doing some kind of mess to him that he didn't really know what to think about. He considered it for a moment, and then realized that he was wasting daytime! Renathan gave a whistle to the equillion to tell him to start running, and the stallion stood there for a moment before figuring out what was going on with the entire thing. He was at the track, and he had been here before, so the bay equillion stallion knew that he needed to run! That was the idea anyway, right? The stallion had ran around this track before, and he was sure that Renathan would let him know whenever he was done with it. The equillion began running, his feet hitting the soft wet earth quite softly, surprisingly enough anyway. The creature was always just a little surreal to watch run, and Renathan was certainly just completely unable to pull his eyes away sometimes, because it almost looked like he was flying without wings.
Maybe he made a bit of a mistake not giving the stallion wings when he had the chance... He had no idea what to think about it; the stallion was built this way specifically for water-field tournaments, and Renathan thought that there might never be another one ran again. Flying would have definitely given him a bit of a push in the right direction, anyway. Renathan shook his head away, he needed to start his breakfast, after all. Renathan put the empty bag from the apples back into his backpack, refusing absolutely to litter, and then patted beside him on the other side to make sure that he still had all of the equipment that he needed to use, anyway. It was all there, right where he had left it on the fence post that he had sat them on just a little bit away from him. Then, he pulled a water bottle out from his backpack after digging around for it in the backpack. The cloth of the empty bag from the apples that he had feed previously to the stallion had made it just a little hard for him to find the water bottles, and he was glad that he had pulled out his breakfast box just a bit ago. He opened up the breakfast box a bit ago, before feeding the equillion his light breakfast. Renathan raised up his mask gently, and decided that he was going to tuck into his lunch box. He knew that no one else was out here in the morning, after all, and that the fog was so thick that even if there was, no one would even be able to look through the mess to see him. One could almost cut the fog with a butter knife this morning, after all! Renathan didn't worry about it too much as he opened up his breakfast box and then pulled out his utensil. He hadn't really been watching the stallion, but he could hear his hoof beats in their gaited fashion, four separate beats, running around the track on the first lap. Renathan smiled softly, and then began to tuck into his food. He picked up the food with the utensil and brought it to his mouth. His nose still hurt quite a bit, but it was beginning to die down. Still, it made it a bit hard to begin to eat, as Renathan used his facial muscles to help facilitate the chewing of the food. Renathan was quite pleased with the taste of the bacon, and told himself that he would certainly be able to pick up more of these in the future. He hadn't been sure if he would like bwee meat, but it turned out that he liked it quite a bit. They didn't have any kind of creature in his homeland that even looked like that, so he wasn't sure how the food would taste, of the meat coming from this specific creature.
He continued to eat his breakfast, eggs and bacon mostly with some fruit on the side, since he didn't eat a whole ton of vegetables, and watched the stallion run around the track at a clip that Renathan was not exactly sure he would have been able to do before. Sure, they had worked on his reaction time and not his speed, but it seemed to have worked into his speed somewhat too, and Renathan was not sure how.

It was not at all long before Renathan was about halfway through with his own breakfast, and unscrewing the cap from the top of his water bottle to take a good long sip. The fog was just beginning to lift; and Renathan knew that the second it started to lift meant that it would soon be lifting almost entirely; fog was strange that way, a really thick but momentary thing, an ephemeral impasto, if you will. Renathan chuckled at that idea; of fog as a fleeting but thick painting of a master painter. That was a good idea for a name of something, surely. Renathan tucked into his breakfast again, sitting the water bottle down on the fence post beside him. Sure, the fence posts were not exactly the most comfortable perch for a mammalian's hind end, but his tails were at least free. A lot of the time using the regular 'chairs' that Pethia tended to have, he had to double over on his tail a bit and it hurt! However, the fence post allowed for free tail movement, even if it did hurt the butt a bit. The russet mammalian moved over a little bit on one cheek, as his other was hurting a bit. The stallion, Renathan saw as he looked up, was running around the track still; he must have done it at least three times at this point and Renathan was pretty proud of that! He was glad to have seen that this was definitely making some difference, this training that is, in his physical capabilities.
They probably still didn't stand a chance in the pit, but they were working so hard and it was a shame to discount that, at least. Well, Shy Guy was working hard, anyway. Renathan was mostly griping and whining about his sore arms and legs from helping. Well, that wasn't doing any good, now was it? Shy Guy probably would have shook his head had he actually understood what was going on around him in a non-animalistic way. Renathan finishes his breakfast and yawns, a bit tired now that he was full; but they still had lots of work to do today, and Renathan was not about to waste the fog finally lifting up soon! The mammalian stretched out a bit, popping his tired back but aggravating his pained arms, and then slid down off of the fence post onto the wet ground, careful to keep his footing this time. That was the idea, anyway. Renathan nearly slipped, but made it quite well and sound after all. He cursed in his native tongue beneath his breath, hissing a bit, but found himself unhurt at least. He reaches over for the water bottle and opens it again, taking a long and hearty swig out of it to finish it off. If today was successful, after all; this would be Renathan's last breakfast on the turf of the Training Gym, at least for a while. He was glad about that, this was really tiring him out and wearing on his mind, from the looks of it A Lot.
Renathan put the empty water bottle into his backpack closed, and then made sure to close and fold back up the breakfast box to put back into the backpack as well. He refused to litter ever, so he made sure that everything was back in it's own place, as was his typical custom at least. Then, he watched the stallion go around the track one more time for good measure, knowing that it would be the very best to have the creature as tired as possible; that was what stamina training was for, right? To make the creature push past all of the difficulties of the entire thing to force it to use more work than it normally would to continue to push past all of the limits? Renathan told himself that anyway, so he hoped that everything would work out really well. After the stallion was done going around the last corner, Renathan called for him to come to him, so that he could check him out like he typically did. The huge creature hadn't even broken a sweat during any of that, Renathan noticed as the creature made it's way closer to him, and then stopped right out in front of him quietly. He patted the creature on the muzzle and got a soft noise and a nuzzle in return. Renathan was quite happy with the progress so far, and feeling much better. Renathan guessed that he wasn't actually a morning person, since he was finally able to get over all of that nonsense. But he couldn't just refuse to wake up early in the morning, because his creatures needed to be fed and such. That was the most important thing, after all. Maybe he just wouldn't immediately go out and 'do' something in the earliest parts of the morning in the future... Yeah, that was probably quite a smart idea.

The russet mammalian knew that it was time to begin doing the usual thing that he did to work with the stallion; it was time to do the most important step, checking to make sure that the creature's legs were not broken or anything. Well, broken, twisted, swollen, anything of that nature. Where he came from, the creatures that looked almost exactly like an equillion had very, very weak legs. These legs were so thin, stick thin, that they broke under extreme pressures because the creatures could run both incredibly fast and were super heavy. Renathan knew that in his home land, a creature built exactly like Shy Guy would definitely get hurt all the time, but equillion must be a bit different than those creatures, because so far, Shy Guy had no leg faults at all, and that was quite shocking! However, Renathan was not about to take that for granted ever, because it was a severe problem!
Renathan knew that it was time to start, so he bent down gently in front of the stallion. He put his hands on the stallion's shoulders as per usual holding and suggesting the stallion to lift the left front leg (the one they always started on no matter what); and the equillion lifted it just as he had been trained to do so long ago. Renathan kept his padded palms on the stallion at all times to let him know where he was as he did this as he always did. He easily kept his fingers and the long claws from getting tangled in the stallion's leg fur as he checked the huge bay equillion stallion for injuries or anything that could cause issues for them. Renathan checked for swelling, heat, or any slight flinch or favor in the movements, so that he could make sure that the creature didn't have fractures or anything at all that would be an issue in their continued training. Soon, Renathan was pleased with the front left leg and then he moved up, keeping his palms sliding against the stallion's fur at all times so that he wouldn't get kicked. At this point, Renathan was very sure that the creature would never kick him, but he wasn't about to take that for granted, any slight spook may be dangerous!
Renathan moved over to the right leg, keeping his palms on the stallion at all times as per the usual. He bent down, holding and carefully suggesting that the bay equillion stallion to lift the front right leg as he always did, and the stallion does this as trained. At that, Renathan bent down, keeping the palms on the stallion at all times to let him know right where his body was, so as not to spook him. He kept his hands right clear of the fetlock as he checked the leg for any unsoundness. Renathan checked once again for any swelling, hotness, or tenderness, as per usual. Renathan was sure that everything was fine with this leg, as he had done this quite often and was very skilled with it now. Renathan moved up the leg again, his palms sliding against the stallion at all times continuously so that he was not spooked into harming Renathan by accidentally kicking him or anything like that. Renathan knew that he needed to move over to the hind legs now, hopefully without breaking their track record of Renathan not being kicked or anything like that.
The stallion didn't flinch as Renathan slid his palms over his fur. Then, he got to that right hind leg and with all of the expertise of a farrier (perhaps he should take that up s a secondary job?). Renathan started by keeping his padded palms on the stallion as they always did to alert the creature as to his area. He then bent down, sliding them down the leg, letting the stallion know to lift it. The stallion lifted it up as he had been trained. Renathan kept his hands clear of the fetlock again, then he continued back up, checking from any kind of tenderness, or any indication of a break. He knew that anything like this could keep them from doing the tournament! Finding no problems, Renathan did this exact same motion with the other leg, and when he was done Renathan moved around the front of the creature so that he could pat him on the nose for being such a good boy. It was time, after all, to put the equipment on the equillion now that Renathan knew that he was sound and fine. Renathan picked up the leg weights first, knowing that this was the most important aspect as of right now. Surely after they were done with this, the fog would be lifted, right? Renathan was sure about that at least. He bent down at each leg, figuring out the ways that they worked and began fitting them on well enough.

Renathan worked hard to get all of the equipment strapped properly to the stallion's legs, moving slowly as he always did to keep the creature from being bothered or frightened by him at all. That was the idea, and Renathan always tried to keep to it the best he could. After being finished with that, Renathan knew that they had a bit more to do. He slips the hackamore on the stallion's face after that, making sure that the fit was correct, and then he carefully put the extra weights on the stallion's shoulders. By the time they were finished with that and Renathan looked up, stretching his tired back and yawning yet again, the thick as butter and bright lit fog was gone. Renathan was glad about that; it was almost impossible to navigate this place with it, and that was why he had memorized the route to the track first, so that they could warm up here and get ready first. Now, the idea was to make the rest of the trek out to the heavy cart area, so that Renathan could work him out on that heavy cart. Yesterday he'd had a horrid time trying to get it to move, and Renathan had been a bit sad watching it; but he was sure that today they would have a better go at it! Renathan knew that the gym trainer had seemed to be quite proud with it, anyway, since Shy Guy seemed to have improved despite Renathan's slight blundering in the morning. Perhaps today would also be quite a bit like that?
Renathan lead the stallion, with all the weights, out to the area where they were supposed to be. He was happy that everything was going to be fine today, he just knew it. One day at a time, he told himself. Renathan led the creature all the way there and then managed to get him to stand still while he hooked the cart up to him. Today, they were going to get done, the mammalian was just sure of it! Renathan called for the stallion to 'run' and then waited. The creature had a bit of difficulty pulling the cart, but walked forward all stiff legged, pushing against the ground and tearing up a bit of grass in the process. Eventually, he was able to pull it! Renathan was super proud, and they worked for the next hour tirelessly, the creature chasing the mammalian around in circles while pulling the cart and carrying all of that extra weight. With any luck, Renathan knew that this had to be it. After the creature began pouring sweat but still continued to be able to pull the heavy cart, seemingly even better this time than last, Renathan knew it was time for them to head back in to the front desk, to check out for the day. Hopefully, they would not have to do this again in the future, at least not with Shy Guy, because he was exhausted.
