"Follow me, Given," Jack told the Wiurn, turning her back to him and walking off. He sniffed a little at her pouch when she didn't produce a fish, but he followed her anyway, intrigued as to whether or not he was going to get one anyway. When she stopped and turned to see him standing right behind her, she smiled and gave him a fish anyway. She was trying to get away from physical rewards, but that was going to take awhile no matter what. Jack pushed her hair back and patted him on the neck as he gulped down the little fish, smaller than the ones he'd had before at this point, but that was fine. It was part of how she trained, reward with big things first, then little, then nothing at all except for praise. It all worked out in the end after all, she was fairly successful.

Jack started walking again, "Given, follow me!" The Wiurn sniffed at her pouch and started to follow her, sure that he was going to get another fish for a job well done. As much as it pained him to realize it, if he did what she asked, he typically got food for it, and he liked food, or else he was going to waste away into nothing. Nothing! The world just couldn't handle him being gone from it, he realized, so he would help her out a little in exchange for food. Most of the time it seemed at least. Jack grinned at him and stopped, "Very good follow, Given!" She reached out and patted him on the neck, wondering what they would work on after all of this was finished. She had to get him quite a bit of experience it seemed, and she knew it was only a matter of time before he wore himself out.

One last time and then they would move on down the list. She had edited the lists a little bit, she hoped it would make it more manageable for people this way at least. Some things were added and some were taken off, she felt it was a good trade. "Come on Given, follow me!" she told him and walked off, leaving him stumped for a moment before he hurried after her, sniffing at her pouch a little bit again. It was a shame she was going to let him starve like this, it just wouldn't do, but if she didn't feed him after awhile, he was going to waste away into nothing. What of his admirers? He knew they had to be out there at least, he'd not met one yet, but they were there, hiding because they were overwhelmed by his dashingly good looks. "Very good follow!" Jack told him with a smile, patting him on the neck. Now what?

Sit - 1
Okay, time to work on something different, she figured with a strange look on her face as she looked at the Wiurn. He was sitting there not doing anything, so she might as well get him for doing that much at least. "Good sit, Given!" she told him, tossing a fish to the confused Wiurn. He stood up and walked over to her, confused as to what he had done right in order to get a fish, usually that was how it worked at least. She wouldn't just feed him to be nice, so what was going on? Sniffing at her a little, he still looked confused when she gave the command, "Given, sit." He stood there until she walked straight up to him forcing him to sit down or be run into, and he got another fish for his troubles. Okay, he was done, she was crazy.

Sit - 2
This was going to be interesting because Wiurn had a hard time sitting it seemed. Well, they sat back on their haunches, which was the plan for the moment at least, and she hoped that things would go well no matter what. Jack backed up and had him follow her for a bit before she told him to sit again, "Given, sit!" The Wiurn looked at her, confused again, but backed up into a sit when she walked closer, a fish held above his head. "Good sit, Given!" the woman told him, dropping the fish into his open mouth. He swallowed it whole and eyed her suspiciously, he didn't know what was going on, but as long as he had fish it didn't really matter he supposed. Jack chuckled a little and wondered what it would be like if they shared a Ribbon. It wouldn't be completely out of character for her, would it?

Sit - 3
It was interesting seeing what she could do with her animals she figured, there were so many things she could do when time let her. Given had quite the list of things to learn today and tomorrow, with even more stuff that could be taught after this list was done. "Sit, Given," Jack told him after they walked along the beach for a little while. The Wiurn pushed back onto his haunches when she finally walked toward him with a fish up in the air. She was glad she was tall enough to do this, though the Wiurn could carry her if he wanted to, and she was going to make sure he learned how to do that at some point in this training. "Very good Given, good sit," she told him, dropping the fish in his mouth so he could snap it up a bit and eat like a king for once.

Sit - 4
"Given, sit," she told him after he followed her a little bit more. He looked at her suspiciously but sat down after a few moments of thinking, it looked like. Jack grinned at him and patted him on the head before giving him a fish, she hadn't actually had to bribe him that time! It was a miracle, but she hoped that meant he was getting used to the way they were training and all that. Jack pushed her hair back and smiled at him before rubbing his neck down a little bit, wondering what all they would work on after this. She shrugged a bit and then stretched out her muscles, pushing high into the air with her arms, up on her tiptoes and everything. She was getting a little worn out already, a testament to how long it had been since she had really trained, but she wasn't going to give up now.

Given wasn't sure about all of this quite yet, but he trusted the woman a little bit at least, and knew she wouldn't do anything to purposely hurt him at least. Jack smiled at him again and then had him follow her, glancing back every now and then to make sure he could keep up with the way Wiurn walked. "Okay Given, sit," she told him again and he eyed her to see if there was any fish that was going to be had this time. This was usually the time she took it away and he was suspicious, she was a little predictable once you got to know her, though the things she taught certainly weren't. Jack eyed him back and he finally sat, though grumpily, and she rewarded him with a pat on the neck. "Good sit, Given, very good!" she told him, though he enjoyed the tone of her voice, she was sure he would resent the words if he could understand them.

Sit - 6
Jack knew he was a proud creature, and that could be good sometimes at least. She smiled at him, patted him one last time, and then went off to have him follow her once again. He followed dutifully, though he was a little irritated that he did it so well, until she told him the command, "Sit, Given." Given took a brief moment and then sat down on his haunches, his back arched a little and his wings to his front. "Ha, very good sit!" Jack told him with a smile and a laugh, patting his neck a little. He hissed softly and sniffed at the pouch on her hip, to which she pushed his nose away and sternly told him no. He hissed again but pulled his head back, upset that he had been found out when his plan had been so carefully chosen and all that. How had she seen him? It just didn't work out.

Sit - 7
He almost had it, once more she thought and then they could be done with this one for a bit. They had plenty of things to train, after all, and she hoped to get through a lot of them before the end of the day. Whether or not that was possible, she really didn't know, but she was hoping. She had Given follow her for awhile again and then turned and stopped him, "Given, sit." He huffed and sat down with a grumpy look on his face, unsure of what was going to happen when time ran out for him this time. Hadn't he proved he had this now? Why keep going with it? Given grumped and grumbled but didn't move at all while he sat there until she rubbed his neck and then he leaned into it. His rubbery skin itched a little bit, and she wasn't sure if she was hitting the right spot or not, but it seemed like she was.

Lay Down - 1
Lay down wasn't too far away from sit, so that was a good one to move on to next. She wanted to make sure these lists she was giving out were doable after all, she didn't want to give people something that wouldn't work out at all. Jack rubbed his head a little and then had him sit down again before she kneeled down and put a fish on the sandy beach, "Lay, Given." She'd said his name, that meant he needed to pay attention. But with the fish on the ground, he bent down, almost level with the ground, and scooped it up. It made her a little mad, he hadn't done what she wanted him to do, but that's what training was for. She put another fish there and when he bent over she pushed him all the way down to the ground, making him grunt in surprise. "Good lay, Given!" she told him as he munched on the fish with wide eyes.

Lay Down - 2
He still wasn't a fan of having her mess with him just yet, but that would change eventually she thought. It was next on their list of things to train after all. Hopefully if she ever had to get rid of him in the future, not that she ever did, they would have a finely trained animal on their hands. Still, she never intended to sell him or give him away to anyone else, that much was certain. Jack let him pop back up into a sit and then repeated the command, laying a fish down on the sand in front of him, "Lay, Given!" He snuck down and munched on the fish, though this time he was laying down a little better to get at it, she had put it slightly out of his reach if he was any way but laying down at the moment. This was good, it was a good start.

Lay Down - 3
Even though they were the first creatures created by the Labs, Jack didn't think she'd ever actually trained a Wiurn before. That was odd, but alright, whatever, she could do this just fine. She couldn't wait to get around to certain things, like fly and all that. Still, she praised him for doing a good job and let him have another small fish as a reward. "Okay, lay Given," she told him when he popped up again, ready to sit and do whatever it was that was next. He looked at her suspiciously when she dropped a fish just out of his reach, but he laid down so he could get to it since he was kept in place with the stay command. "Very good lay, Given!" Jack told him with a smile on her face, ready to get this done and over with so they could move on to some more fun activities.

Lay Down - 4
As he sat up again after downing the fish when she was done with him for the moment, she considered something. What if he was only doing this for the fish and didn't retain the training? Of course that was absurd, of course he retained it, she had casually asked him to do all of it all over again from time to time and he still responded. Okay, enough of that, "Lay, Given!" The Wiurn stared at her and then finally laid down when she relented and put a fish on the ground with a sigh. She didn't know what else to do with her time at the moment and that was fine, she had the time to train him pretty well it seemed. Jack pushed her hair back out of frustration and then shook her head, she didn't know what else to do, this time he was being stubborn on purpose.

Lay Down - 5
Well if he wanted to be stubborn, she could be too it seemed. Jack folded her arms in front of her and gave the command, "Lay, Given." He looked at her for a moment, and once she raised an eyebrow he laid down and looked at her expectantly. Yeah, he wanted food, but he wasn't going to get any, just like always. "Good lay, Given!" she told him happily, rubbing his neck a little in happiness. He pouted a bit and chuffed, wondering what he was going to do about things for now. He wasn't getting any more food until the next training, and that was final it seemed. She wasn't going to relent to him, he was an animal being trained, she was the trainer, that's how life worked, and if he didn't like it, then she would give him away at this point. There was no room for an animal who couldn't be trained.
