The individual didn't really look like he wanted to sit down there, but Morgan was adamant that he do so, in order to allow Morgan time to do scout around. Morgan did want to do some checking around this month, but didn't plan on walking too far off. Just close enough to be able to check around for anything interesting, and if they were being watched. Morgan was convinced, after all, that someone did actually live here. Well, they really liked to be able to redecorate their house for sure! Not only that, but it would make sense if the house was made up of mechanical parts. Yes, mechanical parts, and probably solid-hologram technology. That had to be it, Morgan thought. It was the only thing that makes sense. Morgan refused to believe that it was something as dumb as 'magic' and all. Cozette was still snuggled up in their pocket, but they still weren't sure about it all.

Cozette still wasn't all that used to Morgan, and still wasn't calm enough to go to sleep snuggled up in the labcoat pocket. Luckily, she was quite a small pup it would seem, and the pockets were quite big! Morgan wouldn't be able to do this anymore with Nico; he was getting to be a muscly boyo. However, Morgan was pleased to be able to spend some time with Cozette. Hopefully she would understand that this was a bonding attempt and she would forget after a long time the fear, and remember only being protected by Morgan the entire time. That was what Morgan was worried about, at least. Morgan had just started training Nico from the start, but wanted Cozette to have some amount of being around Morgan before doing the training. It didn't seem to be helping very much, to be completely honest. Ah well, Morgan thought, they still had time.

Time indeed, at least. Morgan knew that they didn't have any more time to do any exploring for the rest of the month, so they were gonna have to get all of their mansion checks out today instead. The first thing that Morgan noticed when they turned away from their fellow individual there was that the entire place was lined by books. Suddenly, Morgan's eyes widened. Why hadn't they noticed this before? Morgan really loved to read, and this was an absolute TREASURE TROVE of books! Morgan immediately moved over to one of the nearest, and pulled one of the older, dustier looking books out of the thing. This one was absolutely TRASHED by bookworms, eaten almost down to the nice thick glue at the base. All of the paper just turned to dust whenever Morgan opened it. What a shame! Cozette sniffed and sneezed because of all of the tiny dusty pieces.

Well, not a lot of information would be gotten from the older textbooks, it would seem. Morgan let the decimated book drop to the ground without any amount of decorum, and then moved down the line to a book that looked very familiar... Ah, yes, this one was a biology book; one of the ones that Morgan had at home. This one looked brand new, but Morgan had read it about a billion times. Blegh. They put this one back on the shelf in the correct place though. Looking down at Cozette for a moment before petting her on the head, Morgan shook their head. "Big waste here, but it's almost like... Whoever lives here has a pretty good idea about what the Labs is about. Well, at least a little bit. Doesn't seem to have gotten any further than me about it though..." At least not out here, anyway.

Morgan was, however, more on their guard now than what they had been. It was something that denoted that there was something at least semi-labs related going on here, and that was not a good sign. Not when the elder of the 'rabbit' twins had been babbling about it just a bit ago. Something about 'its the labs' or some shit. Morgan frowned immediately, brow furrowing. That couldn't be true. Morgan would have loved to scan over all of those books, but something told them that they needed to move on. That there was something that they needed to see, perhaps. Cozette was back to cowering again in Morgan's lab coat pocket, and Morgan kept their off hand on her head, gently patting her between the ears the way that always Calmed Nico Down. It was second nature to them, and still super odd that they weren't in fact here with Nico this time.

Morgan knew that they didn't have much time. They could practically feel the second hand of a ghostly unseen clock running up the back of their neck, and it made them break out into a bit of a cold sweat. Yes, something was wrong here. They had a split second to roll out of the way as something reached out from behind the book-case, clawed hand ripping out through a rip in space right towards them. Morgan was ready. They pulled out one of the fireworks shooters and instead of aiming for the hand, aimed for the books just below it; the ones with the most bookworm infestation. Instantaneous fire; hot flames, a flash-flare erupted beneath the void-like hand and it seemed to do the trick; vanquishing. Somewhere behind Morgan they heard it; mechanical hounds. Four distinct metallic footsteps, and a robotic 'bark. bark.' Morgan trusted that Cozette was deep enough in their pocket, and broke out into a sprint.
The not-quite-bunny sibling was gonna have to fend for his damn self.

Morgan's split-second reactions had saved them so many times over the course of their 'work' and now was no different. There was no way that Morgan was going to outrun these clanking beasts, and they knew that. They had to play it smart, and not hard. It didn't take long for Morgan to realize that they could hear doors, distinctly slamming elsewhere in the mansion. That was probably bad, but Morgan had an idea, already. Getting trapped did not sound like a good idea, but Morgan wasn't dexterous for nothing. The first chance they saw a door begin to shut in front of them, they didn't slow down. The thing was descending from ceiling to floor, and Morgan was sure that they could probably use the slick clinically white tiled floors to slide just beneath the door's narrowing opening. However; they also knew that the hounds would probably be able to as well.

Morgan knew that this was gonna hurt in the morning; but it was a split second decision. As soon as they were gonna hit the point of no return to decide to slide underneath the door (and knowing that the hounds would have to make the decision at the same time, since they were behind Morgan and the door was closing at a rapid clip) Morgan jumped up, keeping momentum, and managed to hit the door at just the right time feet-first to roll backwards, ricocheting off of the door. Knowing not to put their hands out to stop their fall, Morgan kept them tucked into their chest carefully as they spun just over the top of (they were right) four mechanical hounds. The hounds slid under the door instead, and the door shut them back behind it. Morgan hit the ground rounded-shoulder first, which did hurt like an SOB and forced Morgan to cry out, but thankfully did nothing more than bruise them and shake Cozette up a bit. She'd been tucked to Morgan's chest and wasn't harmed.

Morgan growled in pain as they used the other arm to push theirself up off of the linoleum. They'd split their lip, but thankfully their glasses were only lopsided on their face. Then came the expletives, and there were MANY of them. Morgan growled again, and managed to stand, feeling particularly beat up all to hell, but knew that they needed to find their way back to the main room. They needed to leave, get Cozette home, and regroup somehow... Come back with Nico; someone that could help them figure out what the hell was going on around here. They didn't notice their limp as they followed the small glowing oil-spots in the floor back to the main room down the twisting halls. They hadn't noticed them twist this much when they were fleeing; but it made sense to Morgan's slightly addled mind. They had been running pretty much off of adrenaline.

It seemed to take forever to follow the drippings from the dogs through the mansion, and doors began opening again. Fearful that the dogs would be let lose again, Morgan dropped Cozette back into their pocket and tried to make haste through the slight injury. Already their leg was beginning to feel better, though still pretty numb. They could use it, and the arm, so they were fine. Nothing broken, they knew, or it would be unusable. Still, the thought of being chased again was pretty exhilarating in a way. Damn Chaos Node, Morgan thought, there was a reason that people felt FEAR and not ELATION at the possibility of being attacked! Morgan's desire to get Cozette home safe, however, trumps their otherwise desire to get into a giant fight. Plus; it was not a probable assumption that could be made with the fireworks gun; it may not do very well against metallic enemies.

Morgan would have loved, under any other circumstance, figuring out whether or not the fireworks gun worked against metallic enemies well. However, Cozette was here and they found out that yeah, being in a practically stacked-against card game against fate here wasn't something Morgan particularly wanted to do with Cozette here. Plus, they needed to find out whether the other individual made it or not. Morgan realized that it was pretty bad of them not to round back and help him immediately but hey, now they were at least a little injured too. The bruises were much better than being ripped to shreds by metallic claws and teeth, though. Much better trade; Morgan was often quite good at that kind of trade at least. The human finally manages to limp their way back to the main room of the mansion; which was now, surprise-surprise, on fire. Everything, everything was on fire.

Morgan couldn't help but LAUGH, in the midst of the flames. FREAKING HILARIOUS "THIS WAS ALL ME BABY- YEAH!" Morgan hollared, finally feeling like theirself for a moment. Wa-wait.... That didn't sound right. Morgan strode through the flames feeling much more confident than any completely sane person had any business feeling like under the circumstances; with wood dropping behind them. They made their way back to where they had left the not-mammalian 'bunny' sibling, and noted that he was smart. He'd gotten the hell out of there when it started. Smart. That's what Morgan assumed, anyway. Cozette was getting nervous, heck, had already been nervous this entire time, so Morgan went to the front door, despite the strange nagging desire to stay here and burn away like all of the rest of the things the Labs ever touches in this world, and instead opens the front door and steps outside; like a true child of chaos, roaring flames of bright green suddenly catching alight through the windows.

The human catches eye-sight with the other individual, who was obviously not quite all there at the moment, staring at Morgan as if they saw a ghost or a strange chaotic god. Bright green glow meeting a slightly paler pink-blue opalescent shine. Sometimes, order and chaos are not quite the enemies they often become during their millenia-long spats. Morgan steps out onto the grass lightly on careful toes through thick rubber-soled boots; and turns around after hearing another noise. The mansion... Was putting itself back together. The very sight made Morgan split into two emotionally; fear and anxiety on one hand at the marvel that should not be, and on the other hand elation and excitement. This was exactly what they had been hoping to catch, eventually. The mansion WAS a thing; some sort of strange... Being perhaps. Morgan had all the proof they needed to put the idea to rest. They grabbed the elbow of the gangly not-a-rabbit bunny sibling, and dragged him away. Nothing to see now. Time to get Cozette home and find the other bunny sibling to figure out what happened.
