Her first bath was the most interesting. She had no idea what she was doing. Charlie encouraged her to fill up the bath tub and mix in some soap. She soaked in the tub, taking a comb through portions of her fur. The small amount of soap (or shampoo, whatever was there,) made enough of suds to help clean her. She was shocked at how dirty she was. Her fur hid so much dirt it was ridiculous. She changed the bath water three times, and probably was able to make a scarf out of the hair she pulled out. She hadn't realized she was letting herself go. Hell, she didn't realize there was a problem. However, once the water was running dry from her fur and thoroughly combing and brushing herself (it was hard to get her back, she had to make up a contraption for that,) until minimal hair came out, she called it good. Her ears were funny to clean, and she had a hard time with her paws. She moisturized the pads of her paws (Charlie had told her it was a good idea,) and tried to towel dry herself to some extent. Unfortunately a lot of it had to air dry, but surprisingly her fur wicked the moisture from her body quickly so she was rather warm. In the end, she decided her first bath was a success. She also decided she would have to care for her coat daily and bath at least every few days. Charlie mentioned avoiding using soap too often and instead rinsing the dirt out, apparently her skin produced oils necessary to keep her coat shiny and healthy. Coming to the mines meant another bath for sure. This was something she was sure a human didn't have to worry about. She had no idea what to do and the notebooks said nothing. She was so lucky Charlie had helped her, telling her what she used to use the shampoo and scrubs for (why there was a razor confused her,) and trying to help her figure out what to do now.
I'm honestly a mess. I feel like my lack of memory makes even the simplest things hard. Amelia grimaced as she spoke to Charlie, pulling the buggy down the tunnel. The vulticus and cross followed behind her, staying within the path of the light.

Are you thinking of your bath last week? You honestly didn't do that bad. And think about it this way. Every day since you've brushed your coat and you barely lose any fur now. You've washed twice since and the water ran clear almost instantly, no soap needed. Think of how much you improved on such a simple task so quickly. Everything is going to be like that. But there's nothing wrong with that. This is a learning experience, and I knew it was going to be the moment you lost your memory. But past you wanted to help you with the notebooks, and you've got me to help you with the rest. Sandy's coming around too, within a few weeks she'll be willing to help you out as well. Don't worry, you've got friends. The Vulticus let out a soft whine and rubbed his face into Amelia's side, showing his support to the mammalian. She sighed warmly and hugged his side, happy to have someone like him on her side.
Lucy had not said anything again since before, and Amelia was beginning to wonder how much she really would be able to talk. But she tried to remind herself. She was still a baby, and she would learn like one. Start with mimicking before she was able to understand words for sentences and eventually conversations. Charlie also mentioned that he was unsure of her intellect, and perhaps she would never get to the point to speak full sentences - most creatures didn't communicate that way and speaking with verbals as opposed to the non-verbals natural to creatures was a large learning curve.

Her skills when it came to mining were improving. She kept reminding herself that it was a slow and steady learning curve. Amelia preferred using the pick, mainly because it was the one she had the most practice with. Mining itself was a bit of a monotonous task, but she was getting the hang of it and having other pets here seemed to help her when it came down to it. The pick would burrow into the wall, pulling chunks of dirt and soil from the dried tunnel walls. Dirt fell onto the ground, and Amelia would look to see if any gems fell with it. She continued with this simple task while the other two pets decided to pursue trails of their own. Charlie began to sniff around, looking to see what he could uncover. Large stones would lean against walls, and the Vulticus made a point to search behind and around them. Often creatures that were native to the mines would hide stones they had found in little nooks and come back to them later. Oftentimes they would forget, and a nice stone would be found in a makeshift hole. Charlie had found numerous stones this way, and he was back to looking for them again this way. He pushed his body against a stone to move it to the side. A small glimpse of green appeared when the stone would give way, and then disappear when the stone returned to its natural resting spot. Humph, sometimes mining was tough.
Lucy began to explore the mines as well. She was not overly gifted at any of this, and naturally did not have any skills when it came to mining. However, she was quick to learn. She whined and barked, looking around in the darkness for any signs of what she was supposed to be looking for. They hadn't found anything for her to judge yet. So far it had been just a collection of rocks and dirt. Was that what they wanted?

Lucy came up to the mammalian, her green eyes focusing on the snow leopard type creature in front of her. For anybody coming to the mines, seeing these creatures would be odd. Amelia being the owner of the two other creatures. Amelia being primarily a bipedal creature made that more obvious, and if somebody came a bit closer it would make more sense. She was smart, and she was able to communicate. Apparently, so could Lucy. She was slowly learning, and like Charlie had told her, the extent of her vocabulary was really hard to tell at this time. So far the cross had only said her name, and she had been quiet since. A few sounds here and there, but nothing resembling words. Would Amelia actually have to teach her how to speak? Charlie pulled another stone from the wall, and now he had both a green stone and something orange. The Vulticus was happy with this, and gathered the two and wandered back towards the cart. He dropped them into the buggy, before fishing out a rope toy and lying on the ground. He rested his head on his paws, chewing on the rope eagerly. He had done enough work for the day, and now the canine could relax.
Amelia rubbed Lucy's head, scratching behind her ears. She let out a soft purr of some sorts, the mammalian could not be sure exactly. She wiggled in excitement, wagging her tail eagerly. Amelia turned to continue working on the wall again, and Lucy ran off down the tunnel. A little uneasy, the mammalian hoped that Lucy would be quick to return. The last thing she needed was to lose a pet in here. Charlie did not seem worried, so the mammalian tried not to be either.

It seemed like quite some time, and the mammalian was lost in conversation with Charlie. He was back to explaining simply tasks to the woman, who did not understand much about it.
So what about offspring? I know that pets can have offspring, but can people? Like what about me?
I have no idea. Before, in your previous form.... I'm trying to think of how much I can tell you. I believe you were capable of reproducing. I don't think you did. Now, I have no idea. I imagine you would go through heats or reproduction cycles, whatever that means. The Vulticus was a bit uneasy, not sure how to answer the mammalian in the way that she would want. She was curious about her past, and she tried multiple different ways to get the Vulticus to share more information with her. However, it was not working. Charlie was standing his ground, and whatever information he was giving her was not helping her.
I just wish you could tell me more about who I was. I don't even know what my name is supposed to be. I know information about all of you guys, clearly I didn't skimp with the information about the pets. There was even personalities written down so I would know what to expect. But the information on myself was really left out. Amelia slumped against the wall, the dust and dirt quickly dirtying her white coat. She stretched out her long claws before retracting them once more. Another sigh and she looked at the Vulticus curled up on the ground with the rope.
Lucy wandered down the mines, sniffing and eagerly picking up all the scents. There was so much here, so much to discover. She was hoping to find more and more as she went on. The canine did not notice she had begun to wander away from her group.

Amelia... I would tell you more but I really can't. Out of all of us, Sandy is the one who knows you best. She's been by your side for years. That's part of the reason why she's been so distant, this is all really new to her. The young teenager she had met and grown up alongside... that's not the same person she sees anymore. Even though in your heart you will always be the same, your memory loss is hard for her. You don't remember her, and she's still trying to come to terms with that. It doesn't really matter what we tell you, it'll just be like a story. You won't know anything that we've said, it'll just be like we're telling you a story about somebody else. The memories won't be there, nothing is going to just click inside your head and it'll all come back to you. I'm sorry.
The Vulticus stood up, leaving the rope on the ground next to him. He sat next to the mammalian, who he could feel was dealing with an assortment of emotions. She was hurting, she was sad. It was a weird sadness. There was no memories for her to miss, and she was grasping at things she didn't know. He pushed his face into her chest, and let her hold him in comfort. For a few moments, nothing else mattered. Sometimes the best support was just the comfort of being there.
Lucy turned around, noticing that there was nothing behind her. It was growing darker and darker, and before she knew it the canine was in a completely dark tunnel. She could smell the dampness of the mines, knowing that there was water somewhere. Water always seemed to be close by. She let out a soft whine, worried at this point. "Lucy. Lucy." The crossbreed's attempts at words went into the emptiness unheard.

Poor Lucy. Lost and alone. Her feelings were similar to the mammalian's. A sense of loneliness and fear. For Amelia, it was fear of the unknown of her past. For Lucy it was the fear of the unknown of the present and her future. She let out a low whine again. Yelping into the darkness. She heard a slight rumble, and froze in her spot. What if there was a danger somewhere close by? She sniffed into the air, but aside from the metallic smell of the minerals in the walls and the moisture, there seemed to be no scents nearby. Not even her group. Charlie and Amelia, she could no longer smell them. She cried out again, and pushed against a wall next to her. She was lost, and she was afraid, and she was alone. She sat down, crossing her small arms over her chest in self-comfort, and looking into the darkness with worry. What if she never got found?
Moments passed where the Vulticus and mammalian sat in comfort. The soft cry from the distance broke their stance, and Amelia looked frightened. "Lucy!" She shouted out loud as she stood up in a hurry, pushing Charlie to the side. She quickly grabbed her pick, throwing it into her buggy. She felt delighted when she seen the gems that Charlie had found, but was quick to push them aside. Adjusting the light, she pulled out a flashlight. She turned it on, and the Vulticus quickly grabbed it, running into the tunnel. The light bobbed along the wall, from the poor way the Vulticus was holding it. But what could really be expected from a creature with no opposable thumbs who carried everything he was given in his mouth? He was quickly gone into the darkness, the light fading away as Amelia began to pull the buggy behind her. Wow was this thing always this heavy?

Her second trip to the mines since everything changed. It had been a year. A long year of rediscovery and self growth. She fit with her body much better, and she was eager to see what the mines would offer her. She had brought Auna, a beautiful Feline with glowing fur. Auna zipped through the mines easily, and her soft glow assisted Amelia in the darkness. She had set her cart up with her tools and torch at a wide opening. There was a small stream running alongside the one end, and the steady pulse of water provided a relaxing sound to her ears. These walls hadn't been touched in many years, and she could sense that there were prizes to be discovered. Auna had discovered the stream, and the cold water was intriguing to her. She had spent most of her time in Amelia's kennel, and there was lots of interesting things there, but not like this. The kennel had a large fenced area. When the Sarane were out it was a maze for her to get around. She slept in a raised bed, and the Felusine preferred the distance from the large creatures. Amelia had brought home two large creatures that were a mixture of Thundergug and Sarane, and they seemed to take up way too much room. Luckily they spent time together, and didn't seem to be violent creatures. Still, an unlucky mixture to be caught up in. Sharp horns everywhere, she was lucky the dangerous looking creatures were primarily in stalls that were locked at night or their own enclosures that felt separate from her and the other innocents.

Gentle had been interested in big, scary creatures. Thundergugs and Sarane, and they could be quite brutish and dangerous. Luckily all the broken Sarane shared a large enclosure that would lock at nights, and the two crossbreeds shared another large one. The smaller creatures had the opportunity to roam more, due to being a bit more dainty they were less likely to knock things over. At the same time, they were less likely to get into the food storage and eat everything there. Auna had frequent access to berries and food she would like, as well as water. A large fountain sat in the middle of the kennel, enough for everyone to have their fair share and then some. The large door that led outside was closed at nights to keep the cold air out, but during the day the creatures could come and go. A lot of them would spend time wandering outside, however she didn't feel the enclosure was all that fascinating. Other than being outside and the sky-tall heavy-duty fences. She could easily get out, being so small there were areas she could sneak out. But often she had found herself comfortable just being at the kennel. The outside world was fascinating, but overwhelming to say the least. So when Amelia invited her mining, she took the opportunity. She slept most of the way here, snuggled in a warm blanket in the buggy. Luckily Amelia was stronger than Gentle had been, so the trip here was a breeze.

Amelia hadn't shown interest in getting new creatures. Shortly after the change the mammalian had gotten the crossbreeds, but Auna wasn't sure if that was as intentional as the mammalian had said. The kennel had not had any new additions in the last year, and she was unsure if Amelia wanted to get more or not. The Sarane were quite content in their small family they had created, yet none of the hens had laid any eggs in quite some time. The other creatures had settled into their routines, and the kennel was not as lively and eventful as it once had been. When Amelia was manic things were different, but Auna tried to avoid the destructive mammalian at these times. Her idea of reorganizing wasn't ideal. There had been one thing that had bothered Auna, on one of the days she had went for a stroll through the kennels. The lack of owners. There just seemed to be few people there. Kennel TRODs had taken over cleaning and feeding many of the creatures who resided there, and Auna felt a dreary sense of loneliness. They moved quite mechanically, and she had to doubt if its intelligent counterpart was playing much part in what they were doing. The shops were empty, and anytime Amelia went anywhere she rarely seen anybody. The parks, the docks, the mines... empty. Today Auna had even noticed Amelia had created her own tracks over the path her muscles had memorized, and it hadn't snowed in over a week. Where was the life?

Auna tried not to think of that as she stared into the small stream. The Felusine held an intelligence that many of the accompanying creatures did not possess, and it gave her a different insight into the day to day life. Amelia watched the glowing pet stare into the water, and she let out a sigh. "Keep looking, maybe you'll see some form of life." Although Auna's understanding of the common language was minimal, the team seemed to be on the same page. Amelia would go shopping and see very few people. Most things were run by TRODs and only when she went to buy something big at a specialty store would she see people she could converse with. It probably explained why Amelia had grown so much more attached to her creatures who could communicate to her - talking to someone was the best way to keep her sanity. She stared at the wall she had been scraping away at. Lots of dirt, but part of her felt that there could be more behind the dirt than she had initially thought. The world had many secrets, and the mines were no different. Each day provided a new learning opportunity and Amelia wanted to be involved in any way possible. "Today is going to be a good day, we're going to find something." She smiled and pushed her scarf out of her way before lifting the pick to swing it once again.

After the swing is completed; one could most likely detect a nearly spectral shimmering stone in the light of any nearby implements. A duller, but still beautiful stone can also be located by a sharp eye. [posts 21-25]

Auna let out a soft coo as Amelia swung her pick once more. A burst of dust came forth, and the snow leopard turned away and coughed into her arm. She shielded her eyes from the dust, believe it or not, dirt was not her favourite. How did the past me enjoy this so much? Amelia didn't understand, but apparently Gentle had been a huge fan of mining and thrived here, as it was one of the areas she was able to escape with a sliver of joy from her cloud of depression. The mammalian had no idea how hard the humanish had it mentally. A constant struggle with a cloud of nothing but enough hope to keep living another day. She was so unhappy and threw herself into whatever came to her. Mining, training, Sarane battles... the humanish struggled to belong in a life she never felt to fit. Amelia was different in so many ways. Sure, she didn't have a family she could remember, but the mammalian was sure she came from love. Amnesia wasn't enjoyable and forgetting everything from before last year didn't help her with her identity, but the feline was beginning to shape into herself, even though the terrible moods weren't enjoyable. Weeks of one extreme, to weeks of the next. Another coo as the Felusine noticed a glitter in the dust.
