The first of the month was always a busy time for Leafy. There was usually a mad rush to the shops while everyone strived to be the first person to purchase the new stock. She was no exception to this. Leafy had recently bought a few adult Sarane that she needed to reverse the aging on. There was no use trying to bond with a Drake that was already an adult. Personal experience had told her that doing such a thing was never the right option. Certainly not when there was such an easy solution at hand. All she needed to do was buy said solution. She entered the shop swiftly, not wanting to get stuck behind in the crowd.
“Hello there!” she called out into the shop. “I am in desperate need of some regrowth potions. I’ve got some Sarane that don’t trust me a bit and I really have to fix that!”
Leafy was a bit breathless as she approached the shopkeeper. She had rushed over here as fast as she could after all.
Alura stood up, two oven mitts on and holding a sheet of fresh baked cookies, and turned around quite quickly with a surprised expression on her face. She hadn't heard the door close before she had heard the voice, and it had given her a bit of a shock. The girl looked quite tired; as if she had ran here. "Yes dearie, I have a few to sell. How many do you need?" Sarane, is it? Those buggers were a lot of trouble. She was always surprised when someone said that they trained such things. It took her a moment to recognize the girl; she'd been here for garden pets before, right?
Leafy smiled at Alura, she liked the shopkeeper and she felt a bit rude just rushing in so quickly. But she hadn’t wanted all the potions to sell out before she got there. There was only so much she could do to keep so many full-grown Drakes under control!
“I have three Drakes that need to be aged into hatchlings. So I'm in need of three potions!” she declared. “How much is that going to set me back?”
She had spent a lot of credits recently, but she still had a couple thousand left. Potions would at least be cheaper than all the creatures that she had purchased lately. She could maybe stop in at some of the other shops and sell some of the pocket pets and gems she had found if she found herself short on money. Buying these potions were a bit of a necessity at this point. It was fine when Rorschach was the only unruly Drake, but add in two more and it was an utter disaster.
Alura chuckled. These young ones and their funny way of words! "The price for all three is 375 credits." She said, putting the cookies down on the counter, and placing a cookie sheet over the top of them just in case. Then, she reached down to grab a potion carrying case, and put the three potions (kept behind her because she hadn't quite put them on the display yet this month) in the carrying case so that they could be safely and easily carried. She wouldn't want the girl to be torn apart by the sarane drakes, after all.
Leafy felt herself relax when she heard that Alura had the potions that she needed. She would have been in for a headache if they’d already been sold out. She took out her credits. It wasn’t enough of an expense for her to justify trying to haggle it down. It didn’t take her long to count. Leafy was generally pretty good at eyeballing to correct amount of credits, but she took her time to count in order to be polite. When she was done, she pushed the credits closer to Alura.
“The unbroken Drakes really are a handful. They’re already a handful when they’re hatchlings, but it’s almost impossible to control them when they’re adults,” Leafy remarked.
It would be a relief to get the Drakes under control. Then she could take her time with them, reaching a level of trust that would make breaking them a lot easier.
The older lady took the credits and counted them out as well, just to make sure, and then placed them in her apron before handing over the potions cheerily. "Thank you dearie, oh, do be careful!" She said, kindly, after the customer mentioned the drakes being a hanful. She shook her head softly. She had no idea why folks trained some of the more aggressive creatures, but the young did young folk things and made lots of discoveries and mistakes on their own time.
Riku: I got three pet levels and 15c out of it. <3 And all the necessary posts for my job salary form.

Riku: In mine my crossbreed used foxfire to burn it - but then it used incendiary illusion, which was extra scary because my cross is a plant pet with thick fur. It used the distraction to escape. I’m proud of it, and it’s okay that I won’t finish this month.

Renathan: *But of course, the RNG was not having that. / In Morgan's story, the Nyssa was a real thing, so I wanted to have two different situations for the variety.
May 31, 2020 18:15:27 GMT -6
Renathan: Yeah, the 'finished the story but the RNGods are being a butt' thing is a rather unfortunate situation to be in. I had already decided that in Ren's story, the elderly woman had lied about the nyssa and just wanted someone to talk to*

Riku: That makes sense. I've considered that before. -nod- I hope your non-hxr life is going smoothly.

Haix: Just quitting the job. Don't believe I'll be making the ten posts required per month any time soon. XD
May 31, 2020 16:34:01 GMT -6
Riku: Note to haix, I believe you can post the new application form at the same time as the quitting form. Unless you are simply taking an overall break from the job system.

Fiera Ferella: even AT the gardens yet. XD It sucks when you've finished writing your story and haven't gotten a success, because then its like "well... now what?" XD
May 31, 2020 15:51:47 GMT -6
Fiera Ferella: ive found that when there's a quest that might take longer like this, its a good idea to try and space out the story beats to try and roll a success before i get to the meat of the story. XD Like, by the time i was 5 posts in my character wasn't
May 31, 2020 15:51:21 GMT -6
Riku: It’d definitely put me a month closer to my goals, literally, at least. 🤔
May 31, 2020 15:50:19 GMT -6
Fiera Ferella: You can always try! :3 At the very least its more levels for your character and more TP for your pet
May 31, 2020 15:50:14 GMT -6
Riku: I love that you can mention that and know what it is. Muahahaha! Everyone has their secrets. 😈 (Iz not secret, just oOooOoooh mysterious effect. 😉)
May 31, 2020 15:49:41 GMT -6
Twilight-Claw: I hope you do decide and are capable of finishing it Riku! Will definitely be worth it in getting more points for your master plan.
May 31, 2020 15:48:23 GMT -6
Riku: I know...that was why I wanted to do it. Hm. Maybe I can plow through it. O.O (plow as in tumbling down a steep slope, not in the fast powerful way.)
May 31, 2020 15:48:18 GMT -6
Twilight-Claw: This quest got 3+ quest points.
May 31, 2020 15:46:39 GMT -6
Twilight-Claw: I have no idea about that one for sure, but there does seem to be a few that are nearly in the rainbow spectrum with how many different colors they have on their hide.
May 31, 2020 15:46:12 GMT -6
Riku: Note that I got panic buttons this month, so in the future if the quest is only a 1QP-er, I can go do a 3QP. Or if I simply don’t want to do a new one on both accounts, I can do an old one on the second. // I type faster than my phone screen can keep up.HA
May 31, 2020 15:45:15 GMT -6
Riku: Is there a rainbow sarane offspring yet? Descended from every T1? Lol That’s be cool. // I know I’m only a few posts away from completing the quests, but I’m SO tired that I’m in and out of coherence. Lol
May 31, 2020 15:43:40 GMT -6
Twilight-Claw: This month's quest got some very sweet pocketpets as prizes. <3
