1 // 59.65 Riku had laughed at the request on the board when it saw it that week. Someone had a lamadidron who had a habit of chewing things it shouldn’t. It sounded familiar...oh right! Just like his two regrown Malii who tried to eat everything they saw! He figured helping this person out would give him a chance to train his own critters not to eat random things anymore at the same time. May as well make it a classroom type of training. (Three at once, Riku? Really? You’re getting pretty confident there, kid...) Amethyst swished her tails with wonder as she followed the human who always seemed to have pieces of fish hidden somewhere. Today they smelled dirty - as in literally earthy - which was unusual.....but that didn’t deter her taste buds. Her bunk-buddy walked beside her, unfamiliar with the area. He had never been to the public park before...just their Malii Sanctuary and the mines. It wasn’t a bad place to be. Lots of...grass. Trees with shade. It’d do well....oh a pinecone! “Stop right there, Mr!” Riku called out. Oak recognized his voice and tone, but only flinched as he continued for the fallen tree-baby. Riku sighed, having already figured his command would be ignored. He gestured to the Lamadidron they were meeting there. “This is...oh, ugh....I didn’t get a name for her. Er, it?” He trailed off for a second, biting his thumb. “We’ll call her Shelly.” He felt clever with that name.

2 // 59.70 He had never worked with a Lamadidron before, but had only read that they were an elemental companion type of creature....which was similar enough to his own obsessed-over Malii. He had taken care to do a bit of research on the different types before he came to the park where the quest giver said the creature would be waiting for him. The Stone Moss breed, from what he recalled, were the more ‘common’ and gentler of the few. He was very glad they were also the least picky when it came to food sources, since the species’ preferred food of choice was gemstones! How could anyone afford such a beast!? They would literally be eating them out of house and home....well, maybe not literally - but much less figurative than when his parents said that about him and his athletic appetite. (Though it would be literal if the owners of the more rare breeds lived in houses made of gold like he’d assume they’d have to afford just to afford that creature’s diet.) Amethyst didn’t care for introductions, and hadn’t even noticed the large slimy rock thingy waiting for them under the tree. (It blended in sort of anyway...) she passed by her mate and nuzzled up to Riku’s side shorts pocket which she could tell had treats. “Oh, good idea, girl.” He stated, reaching into that pocket and pulling out two sealed baggies. He opened the one and took out a piece of fish, ripping it in half with his fingers. (He was immune to the typical ‘ew’ factor most faced at this point. Malii were his life....and fish were theirs.) he handed a piece to each oh his own critters. Oak very gladly accepted.

3 // 59.75 The Woodland Malii had never seen a Lamadidron...that was a new sight to him as well. As he gobbled up his treat (knowing there would be more rather soon since Riku was very easy when it came to getting treats) he studied its body. It appeared to be....oozing? Some sort of lizard like he’d seen (and chased (and eaten)) running across the wooden bars and posts in their sanctuary. It had a thicker hide, or...armor. It looked like stone. He’d eaten lizards before. He’d eaten stones before. This thing probably tastes good. However...he wasn’t sure he wasn’t to get in a fight with it - especially looking at that rocky tail. And, of course, the fact that it was about twice his size and clearly much stronger. One hit....that’s probably all it would take for that thing to knock him out. No thanks! (Maybe just a little nibble...?) Amethyst enjoyed her half of the salty flesh. She loved how juice fish was. It just never got old! Sometimes Riku would bring in some special catch that wasn’t tuna. She loved tuna...but sometimes something different was also much appreciated. She found it interesting that some species of fish have different textures and degrees toughness beyond just different flavors. For today though, of course, tuna was perfect! She curiously watched her human give a lump of....dirt(!?) to the giant lizard thing(!!?!?), which it seemed (just as) happy to eat (as she would have been).

4 // 59.80 Riku tried to bond, briefly, with the newer creature. He’d had time to form one with his two Malii, but this little guy had only just met him. The human placed his hand on top of the giant lizard’s muzzle as it ground the softer rock in its mouth. He was glad he had learned to have a way with animals...in that way. They seemed to always be more open to him off the bat than with regular people. “There you go, Shelly.” He said, smiling up slightly and feeling proud of himsel- “AGH, NO BITES!!!” He cried. Fortunately, the Lama had only briefly pressed down on his fingers and not fully crunched. It probably smelled the dirt still on them. Well, that was why they were here....and he needed to train his Malii to do the same. So the three creatures could all be lined up together and be tr- “AGGHHHHH NO BITES, NO BITES!!!” He screeched, seeing his Woodland Malii about to chomp down on the lizard’s stone-less part of its tail. “OAK, NOOOOO!!!!” He begged, but it was too late. A loud siren sort of almost musical cry escaped the larger animal’s mouth. Riku felt so bad...perhaps bringing them wasn’t so great of an idea? He rushed over to save the poor thing from his simply-curious and ever-hungry mammal....only to realize maybe Oak was the one needing to be saved. Shelly had spun around quickly, her tail almost whacking Amethyst in the face, and was lowering her head towards the Malii, growling in an odd musical-scale sort of way. Minor thirds...?

5 // 59.85 Riku tried to stand between the Lama and the Malii. He put his hand out with a rock towards the rightfully angered newer creature to try to calm it down. Slowly...it moved in for the peace offeri- “AGHHHHHHHHHHHMETHYST, NO BITES!!!!” Riku pleaded, seeing the Gem Malii protectively sink her teeth into the Lamadidron’s uncovered other side. The Lama turned around sharply again, this time towards the other one. Her color and gleam looked more like a giant, moving gemstone than a furry, living creature to Shelly. Perhaps she’s like to know what the Malii tasted like!? As it began to lunge forward, Riku got in the way again. It was a very risky move...this thing was obviously pissed. However, it was worth it for the safety of the creatures. He didn’t need a mid-park war happening. Not only was not illegal, but think of how pissed the Lamadidron’s owner would be. (Would he get kicked out of the trainer’s guild, too, maybe?) No. He wouldn’t let that happen. Keeping Oak in his sights and within stopping-distance, he forcibly separated the other Malii from the (thankfully) still chained up Lamadidron. With a sigh, he pulled at the two Malii and ordered them to follow him home. He’d be back in about an hour to make amends with the poor beast and attempt again to train it. Who knows, maybe even if he wasn’t successful the questing committee might have mercy on his for the completionary credit... What in the Gods’ names gave him this bright idea, anyway!?

6 // 59.90 The Malii left. “I am so sorry about that, Shelly...” he said as he walked back up to the Lamadidron. He really hoped she wouldn’t blame him for his two Malii’s....poor taste in behavior. Grabbing another rock from his heavy inventory, he cautiously placed it in the creature’s mouth that it opened to receive the treat. He put his hand back on it’s muzzle, and another one beside it this time as it chewed. Having learned from the first experience, he watched to make sure it wouldn’t bite down on his fingers again. This species wasn’t that bad. Maybe it was this one’s docile nature, but he did also appreciate their knack for elements. “Ah, no bites!” He said, catching the lizard about to go for a plump phalange. She recognized his tone and pulled back. Riku laughed a bit, of course, being prepared to pull away himself just in case she didn’t understand him or simply didn’t listen.

7 // 59.95 Shelly pushed her head back into Riku’s hand for him to pet her. Such a cute request deserved to be rewarded with a good rubbing. (Did she even feel that through the stone somehow...? Either way, she seemed to like it.) Her tail began wag back and forth carelessly, slamming into the tree with each motion, and she didn’t even seem to notice. Riku recognized that this was a good opportunity to introduce the next command, so he called out “Tail Strike!” As she did it again, which cause the Lamadidron to cock its head to the side with curiosity. “Tail Strike!” He called out again, cheering with a warm smile as her tail end hit the side of the tree. Of course Shelly didn’t understand what he was saying, but he seemed to be enthusiastic. She looked back at her tail as it kept wagging, which the human seemed to be paying attention to.

8 // 60.00! Riku decided to call out the command every time the Lamadidron’s tail hit the tree. “Tail Strike! tail Strike!” He exclaimed over and over again. Eventually Shelly turned and her tail no long made contact with the tree trunk. Slowly it began to stop wagging. She still faced Riku, but her back side no longer pointed toward the tree. He gave her another rock, this time a bigger one. “Good girl, Shelly...” he said, rubbing the top of her head where she had asked for it before. He gestured towards the tree again, then her tail, and made a motion with his arms like he was asking her to swing it. (Of course it made no sense to her.) “Taiiil Striike..!” He said with a grin. “Tail Strike!”, again, making that same motion. She didn’t understand, but that was okay...Riku bent over and grabbed her tail (not really thinking about whether she’d mind) and guided it towards the tree. “Tail Strike.” he affirmed.

A strange individual walks past, with a very large balgor on a leash. The creature was so regal; it almost looked like it was walking the person instead! The individual looks at you for a moment and then carries on.

Riku 1/20 — Shelly Loyalty 4.8
The Lamadidron growled lightly, and Riku immediately lofted his hands and backed off. Maybe the tail moving wasn’t a great idea...”Sorry, girl.” He said, still unaware that the creature was a male. (Did it matter? It’s not like it understood him anyway. Besides, he’d probably never find out, either.)
He backed up and noticed the Balgor walking nearby, following the fixed and protective leering of the Lama. “Oh...were you growling at him?” (Oh Gods, Riku, why do you just assume a creature’s genders like that? Not that it matters, but still...that habit can get you into trouble.)
He pulled out another rock and help it out for the Lama to see. Shelly cocked her head and moved her snout in for the prize, but he pulled it away. “Tail Strike.” He said, making the motion again. “Taaaiil Striiike.” He said again, slowly, pointing to her tail and the tree

Riku 2/20 — Shelly Loyalty 5.0
Shelly ignored him and moved in for the rock anyway. “Ah, no bites!” He shouted frantically as she snapped near his fingers. She wasn’t trying to hurt him, but was unaware of how strong her mouth was...or rather, how fragile the human’s fingers were.
“Tail strike...!” He whined again, pointing to her tail. He held up the rock and said it again, then held it closer to her tail.
It stared at him in confusion, unsure if they wanted to be more annoyed or patient. What did the human want for the rock? They could just take it, but they wanted to keeps his affection. In their experience, angry humans didn’t give treats or rubs...
Riku took the chance again with the tail, since the earlier growl might have been directed at the passing Balgor. He gently pushed it towards the tree, and Shelly smacked it the rest of the way into its mark.
“Yes! Tail Strike!” He exclaimed with glee. He gave her the treat and rubbed the top of her head.

Riku 3/20 — Shelly Loyalty 5.2
Riku had decided to call it a day after the last few tries. His Malii were still waiting for him at home. They were just about fully grown again and he wanted to check on their progress. He left Shelly at the tree and a few rocks in front of her to snack on. Going back to the request posted, he wrote on it that he had worked with her that day and that he was coming back the following day to continue if the Lamadidron would be there again. He also noted that they got along pretty well and that the chain probably wasn’t needed.
Walking back to the request board that next day, he wanted to check and see f the owner had responded. He had brought with him a few more colorful quarts type of rocks that he had found on his property the night before.
To his surprise, Shelly was waiting for him near the board! She wagged her tail at the sight of him, which he was glad didn’t hit the wooden legs of the board.

Riku 4/20 — Shelly Loyalty 5.4
The Lamadidron moved towards him, excitedly. Riku was glad it seemed to appreciate him. He greeted it with a rub on the head and it sniffed at his pockets. He reached inside and pulled out a reddish quarts with many black speckles, handing it to the adorable creature.
Looking at the board, he checked the paper. The only thing added to the conversation was:
Riku was wide eyed and embarrassed after reading that. He wondered if anyone had heard him referring to ‘Shandler’ as a female. It was funny to him, though, that he guessed the name so closely.
He guided the Lama to the same tree they had met at and began to work again. Riku had made sure to bring gloves this time, in case he got snippy. Gently grabbing his tail, Riku said “Tail Strike!” And he guided it towards the tree. To his surprise, Shandler seemed to remember what they had done the day before and swung his tail end at the tree.

Riku 5/20 — Shelly Loyalty 5.6
“Great job, Shandler!” He exclaimed, clapping his hands. He took out another rock, this time with a slight green hue in one corner, and fed it to the rocky creature. He rubbed on top of his head where he liked it and said again. “Good job, buddy...”
Stepping back, Riku decided to try it again. This time a bit faster - he hoped - and without physical guidance. He gestured to Shandler’s tail gem and said “Tail Strike!” With the motion he had used the day before with his arms. Point at the tree, he said it again.
The Lamadidron looked confused at first, but after another round of motions from the human, he could guess what Riku wanted from him. He looked back at his own tail and lightly swung it at the tree.
“Good job, Shandler!” Riku cheered, pulling out another treat. He handed the orange stone to the good boy and stepped back to try again.
“Tail Strike!” He shouted, this time confidently only pointing to the tree.
