Jewel stared at the creature, and it stared back at him.
He'd be damned if he'd ever seen anything like it before. A being of stone and goo - it seemed a biological fallacy, and yet here it was, gnawing on the rope that had been slung around its neck as if to prove its own training issues. To his dismay, the tether was already beginning to fray. He had to distract it from its destructive chewing habit before something else caught its attention and it ran away with a broken makeshift leash in tow.
"I don't know your name..." Not a good way to start. He'd have to give it a nickname, he supposed. "Stone man. No... Pebbles. We're calling you Pebbles, alright?"
Pebbles exhaled a long sigh through his nostrils.
"Alright, well... your person says you need to learn some things, and I suppose I have to teach you. So, I hope you're on my side today, Mr. Pebbles."
At least he wasn't snapping at him.

Lamadidron liked to eat rocks. Jewel was lost as far as what nutritional value they could get from them was concerned, but he wasn't an expert, and would leave the nuances of the species to the scientists who dealt with them. All he had to do was finish the job and not get clubbed or trodden on in the process.
Mr. Pebbles had a sweet face, really. His eyes were kind.
"I've got something for you!" Jewel smiled and pushed his hand into his pocket to receive a small bag of gems. Mr. Pebbles was intrigued in an instant - his nostrils flared and the decaying rope fell from his jaws. A single fibre remained, poking from the side of his mouth like a strand of hay. "I know you like these. I'm not gonna eat them, so-- no!"
Mr. Pebbles had tried to latch his teeth around the bag itself, and his fae companion had jerked it away, tapping his nose with one finger.
"No bites!"

Mr. Pebbles stared. There was no recognition of what Jewel was trying to get at - only another, more determined attempt to take the bag of gems off of him. The fae had to do his best not to let his charge get a hold of them, because god knows he wouldn't be strong enough to wrestle them back. He worked out, but not to a level that would make him comparable to a rock beast.
The Lamadidron's jaws closed around his wrist instead. Before he could bite down, Jewel used his free hand to pop him on the nose, hard.
"No bites!" Said with dramatic inflection and a hint of fear of broken bones. Mr. Pebbles was taken aback, and spat out the offending appendage. "That's right! Good. Please don't grind me to dust."
A reward was in order for having been let go, so he rolled a gem into his palm, intent on holding it out for Mr. Pebbles to take. His snorfling snout was already on its way, though.
"Hey! No bites! Bad!"

Jewel was about as hopeless as they came when faced with beasts bigger than his Felusine, and that was painfully obvious. The way he was dancing around Mr. Pebbles to avoid his crunching jaws was comedic at best and imbecilic at worst. Whenever he took a step back, Mr. Pebbles would follow him, intent on snatching up the goods and making an escape with them - and no progress was going to be made if he allowed it to continue.
"Stop!" Standing firm in his position, he held out a hand and raised his voice. "Stop it!"
The Lamadidron looked confused, and shocked at the small man's outburst. With a huff, he parked his backside down, his dangerous tail coiling forwards to rest next to him.
"Okay, that's better!" The Fae's relief was palpable. He tossed Mr. Pebbles a gem to pacify him; watching him crunch it up without any trouble was fascinating. His jaws must've been so powerful that there was no worries of the rocks splintering and jabbing into his gums, if he had gums to begin with. "Really..."

Perhaps he'd have to be slightly more daring to get the message across. Jewel sighed inwardly, looking down at his hands; they were pitifully small, especially in comparison to Mr. Pebbles' mouth, and if the beast could munch up gems in a heartbeat, he'd have no issue crunching bones.
Was he really going to put trust in a stranger's pet not to leave him with long term injury? It would have to be so.
The rest of the bag was slipped back into his pocket, but he retained a handful of gems. He closed his fist around them, but not before making sure Mr. Pebbles had taken a good look at them - it relied on him being interested enough to try and bite him.
What an absolutely stupid thing to do. Still, he was doing it.
"Hey, you want some more gems, buddy?" Jewel shook his fist up and down in front of the Lamadidron's face. When Mr. Pebbles' mouth yawned open on approach, he stood fast, but spoke in a tone that left no room for argument. "No bites."
There was no quick reaction, and thus Mr. Pebbles earned another bop on the snout, which he grunted at.
"No bites."

Someone walks past, rubbernecking at your training progress, until they were pulled away by the huge PHIL they are walking. The creature had a muzzle on, and a huge tail protector, and didn't seem bothered by it or by anyone else in the park.

Mr. Pebbles was flummoxed. The gems were there, in the small person's hand, but he wouldn't let him have them? It didn't make sense. Maybe if he crunched hard enough, they would come out? But when he went to bite down, he'd get a closed fist on his snout, and that wasn't encouraging at all.
So, he backed off, huffing a frustrated breath through his nose. To his amazement, it was rewarded with a wide smile.
"Good job! Good, Mr. Pebbles!" Jewel slipped one gem between two fingers and tossed it to the Lamadidron, who snapped it up. "See? That's not so bad, is it?"
Mr. Pebbles made quick work of his treat and stayed sat where he was, rather than coming after the loot again. It was more trouble than it was worth! This person wasn't his person, and they were an annoying person, to boot... was there something more interesting to be getting on with? He scanned the park, and perked up when he saw a P.H.I.L and its owner going past. Excellent!

Mr. Pebbles was turning and walking away before Jewel had a chance to snatch the tether rope up. Oh, great. There was no way in hell he'd be able to stop him if he wanted to run away. No, no, positive thoughts - he wasn't going to let the Lamadidron get away from him, regardless of how hard the beast tried.
"Hey! No, no, no! You!" He shot after the lumbering creature. "Mr. Pebbles! We're not done!"
The boy's wailing was getting on Mr. Pebbles' nerves. With a grunt, he turned his rear end to swing the club-like tail at him; Jewel narrowly managed to scramble out of its path, but the very tip caught one calf and made him hiss. Damn, that thing was rough. It would be able to do some serious damage if utilised in the proper way.
"Ouch, but also that's the right idea!" He held one hand up in a yielding position. "That's what we should be doing too! Just come this way, bud, come on!"

Mr. Pebbles continued ambling off in another direction, but to Jewel's delight, said direction was taking them towards a solid tree stump. Perfect! It was a great target for teaching him how to use that tail to his advantage. If he couldn't coax him away, he'd have to walk alongside him, so he settled into pace next to the creature.
"Okay, okay, this is fine..." He was absolutely winging it. "We'll just work on this right now. That's okay. We can work on the biting again later."
The Lamadidron was about to walk right on past the stump, so Jewel had to grab the rope and pull back, as hard as he could. Disgruntled by the pressure, Mr. Pebbles tossed his head. Still, the boy didn't let up, tugging him back onto course with every ounce of his strength until he yielded. He'd be skipping arm day at the gym for a while after this was done.
"You see this? We're gonna hit it."

It was a stupid idea, but Jewel went through with it anyway. He stooped down to tap on the tip of Mr. Pebbles' tail - the creature stared at him with similar distaste, confused by the change of pace. What now? He'd been content going after that P.H.I.L, and now he was getting pestered again by the small human.
"This? We need to teach you how to use it," He mused. "I don't know how to manage it, but we can try, right? If you can swing it at me, then-- wait, wait, wait!"
Mr. Pebbles' tail was on the swing before he finished talking, and he scrambled away as quickly as he could manage, avoiding a clip from it this time. The very end collided with the tree stump and made a splintering sound; he grinned, clapping his hands together.
"Good! That's right, that's what we want!" He tossed him a gem. "Eat up, bud."

The issue was the provocation. Jewel stood with a hand resting on one hip, observing Mr. Pebbles; he'd never tried training an offensive move before, and didn't know where to begin. Irritating the creature until he got annoyed enough to attack was an option, but not a very sensible one. Picking up his tail and dragging it around was pretty stupid too.
"Here, see," He gestured to the stump, standing on the opposite side of it to make sure he wasn't in the way of a slap. "You know what you just did? We're gonna have to find a way to get you to do that again. I don't know how to do that, but bear with me."
Mr. Pebbles blinked.
"The way I see it, as long as you don't damage this," He drew a circle around his face in the air. "... then we're fine. This is my whole thing, bud."
