Gardening had been the thing they'd immediately loved the moment they arrived, and after meeting Flare and his dragonoak, they'd decided they wanted one for themself. After seeing all the supplies that the shop offered, however, they realized their shopping list had spontaneously tripled. There were too many interesting creatures, and too many possibilities. What could they make with the fruits these creatures would bear...? And so, for the first time they set foot in a shop, it was to acquire more of these things. Eventually, they intended to acquire pachee as well, but that was a project for further down the road. For the moment, they just wanted a decadent garden.
They clutched their shopping list in their hand, stepping foot into the place and looking around. It smelled...delightful? Aura paused a moment, just letting the scents surround them. Whatever they had expected, it had not been something so pleasant. Soil and the rich bite of fresh leaves, yes, but nothing like baked goods.
Alura was just pulling out some cookies on a baking pan, and placing them on the counter to cool, whenever the door opened. She gently made sure that they were covered with a baking sheet, and then turned toward the customer, removing her oven mitts. "Hello dearie, what can I do for you today?" She grinned, while looking at the customer. She didn't think that she had seen this particular individual before, but Alura had forgotten more in her lifetime than most of the city folk had learned in their young lives. It was possible that she had forgotten this one? Hopefully not! That would be dreadfully embarrassing!
"Hello," They greeted, regaining composure of themself as soon as she turned towards them. They were surprised, but pleased; they had noticed the distinct lack of elders in the labs, and had been concerned that after a certain point they were dealt with in an unpleasant manner. "I was told you're the person to talk to about acquiring these garden creatures?" They passed over their list. They probably should have asked her name, but truth was, Aura was still bad at manners and was trying to learn their way around them. This was a business transaction, after all. The shopkeeper might be annoyed with them if they tried to draw out their visit with small talk. Surely Alura had better things to do than entertain them.
They were careful not to let their tail hit anything as they approached; they didn't want to knock over things. Something they'd learned in the few weeks they'd been in the labs were that tails could often be weapons of mass destruction.
Alura waited for a moment, and then realized that thankfully; they did not know this individual. That was good; she hadn't forgotten them after all. "Yes dearie, you heard right. I spend quite a bit of my time working with plants; what would you be looking for today?" She stepped bout from behind the counter and waved towards the back. "Most of my stock is this way, that way you can make selections if you want." She walked towards the back, beckoning for the customer to follow. The plant pets were in the back, just there, milling around for them to see and enjoying the sunlight.
They followed after her, and stared in awe at all of them milling about. All of the ones they wanted were there, and they immediately gravitated towards the dragonoaks. "This one is at the top of my list," they started, kneeling down and letting their hand drift out so the creature could approach and sniff on its own time. "I'm also interested in your rare mussimanders, a brancheopter, and one of those... kiss... key..." They struggled to remember the name; it was longer than they normally saw around the labs. They looked around the area, trying to visually locate one. Mainly, they'd just seen it on a list of creatures that could be tended to for things used in crafting; they might have seen a picture? Maybe? "I just moved here, and the gardens are exquisite. The soil here is just so fertile, even someone completely new to growing things could end up with an abundance."
Alura grinned quietly, and kept a list of the ones that the customer wanted. "Dragonoaks are certainly a favorite." She commented, and then gave a soft laugh. "Don't worry, not many people can say that name right." She waved at them, and began collecting them up so that they can be properly brought home without issues (some in crates, some with leads and muzzles). "Is that all for you dearie? If so, your total is 1,630 credits." She said, politely.
She grinned and nodded. "Yes, the gardens around here do tend to produce well; we also keep garden enrichment items if you would like any?"
Upon hearing the total, they reached into their bag and located the fewest coins they could manage that still totaled the full amount; it was a significant purchase, after all, and they didn't want to weigh her down with nearly two thousand smaller coins. They reached out to take the leashes and the crates, giving over the coins in the exchange. "There you are. Thank you for the offer; I'll keep them in mind, but I think I just want these critters for now. Once I can get a steady living going off of this I might be able to afford to buy some nice things for it." They smiled at her, and gave a flick of their tail, heading towards the door with their new friends. "Thank you for these; I'll come back and let you know how they're doing sometime." They were most excited for the dragonoak; perhaps they still had enough time to bond before their season was over...?
Alura took the credits, and put them in her apron. "Thank you dearie!" Alura was sure that eventually the individual would be back, most of her customers were repeat customers after all. "Good luck with your garden." She said; while most shopkeepers were pleasant for polite purposes, she honestly meant it.
