Renathan had been very nervous, lately. With the tournament and all (nothing going as planned, as per usual), he had been on the edge for about two whole weeks now. The third round would start soon, and to say he wasn't ready would be an understatement. He had been a bit too anxious to be around his creatures for prolonged periods of time too, since quite a few of them had emotional links to him that were dulled with distance, and his complex emotional issues were causing problems, for sure. The mammalian decided that a day to himself was in order, and he'd asked Jack (who was lending out their pachee for breedings) if he could use a pair of hers. He wasn't as into pachee as she is, but he has gotten to enjoy seeing them scampering around the gardens. He chose a particularly bright neon pair this go around; they were certainly an odd choice! He wasn't sure what to expect out of them, but he wasn't being particular, anyway. The male was especially nice looking, in his opinion. He carried each one in a carrier under his arm, each in a different carrier for now.

Renathan did also particularly like the female, she was more normal in shape, but her colors were absolutely spectacular. He loved the golden-russets, the pale pinkish hints, and the strange markings she had. Her bright blue eyes were spectacular, and from what he had heard, even her forehead slit was an abnormal color. That was just spectacular, he couldn't help but wonder who the parentage was for her; it must have been a very special pair, that was for certain. The male, on the other hand, was just shockingly beautiful in his own fashion; a haunting green and black combo with a fin on his back; a whole fin! It was so odd, Renathan had found him so striking with that strange combination of stark markings and fin. He almost reminded Renathan of a shark; he'd heard of them, and even seen the fin on the waves when he'd come over on that trade boat. He had never seen a lime green one, however. That was certainly odd! He wondered if the two would make good babies, when they got to the breeding center. Or perhaps, rather a baby, since he wasn't planning on using berries this go around. Renathan was stoked!

Renathan had already thought about the outcome of the two a bit; he may not understand quite yet what might come out color-wise, but he did think that they would most likely have a male offspring, and a single one at that. Pachee rarely had multiples, and rarely had females, the chances were very slim without berries. Perhaps in the future he would buy some more berries? He'd been waffling on it, that was for sure. He didn't really know if he wanted to get completely into the pachee or not, though he did like them quite a bit. They seemed to enjoy the gardens about as much as he did, and having lots of creatures for his garden made him quite happy in the long run. He also felt a bit of comfort today, knowing that even if he felt bad for some amount of time, that he wouldn't make these two pachee upset in any way. They didn't have the emotional link to him, and never would. So he didn't have to worry about himself and other creatures while feeling out his anxieties at this moment. Renathan barely opened the door for himself to the breeding center, a pachee carrier under each arm.

Renathan had heard that pachee breeding had taken off again, since they were suddenly producing again, but orbaru were still out of commission. Even looking at the information board on the counter, Renathan could clearly see that orbaru were marked 'sterile' at the moment. He hoped that it would change in the future, but that hope was beginning to get further and further away. It was just out of grasp; he really loved breeding orbaru. He spoke to the individual at the counter for a moment, not quite a full conversation, just enough to let them know that he had two pachee in for a breeding and that he needed one of the sterile rooms for them. That was the rule, after all; pachee had to be bred in a sterile room, and not in the gardens. It was perhaps a tad odd for him, he was used to seeing creatures out in nature, so the idea of a species that could supposedly breed in nature not being able to do so in any place other than a sterile area. Oh well, Renathan figured. He was sure that soon the two would see if they got along well enough, he wasn't sure after watching Shadie's troubles.

Soon enough, Renathan was called from the waiting room back to the second room to the back. It smelled as if it had been recently cleaned. He hoped that the cleaning agents weren't dangerous or anything, it was a huge worry for him. However, he didn't say anything as the attendant walked back to the front. There was no need; it didn't really smell harshly of chemicals, but it certainly smelled a bit like chemicals. The mammalian sat down in one of the chairs lining the walls, and gently sat both of the carrying containers on the floor so gently, to make sure not to startle the cute creatures within. Renathan waited a moment, and then opened the container for the female first; knowing that it was much better if she made this area hers first, as opposed to the male. Males could often get a bit overexcited when knowing that a female was there, and it would be a waste if the male released his pollen first, without the female being calm and ready for the breeding to occur. He was beginning to understand pachee a bit more; they were like strange plant-mammals, it would seem, and that was quite odd.

Renathan watched as the tiny erythristic female carefully moved forward, sniffing at the air. The mammalian had seen this a lot before, the pachee were quite a bit calmer than most creatures he'd seen before (well, rather than shadie) and Ery was no exception. She carefully checked around her own box, and then tested the box next to it. She could smell the male, and see him through the slats, but he could not see her. That was by design; the slats were in such a way not to allow him to get too excited to early. They wouldn't want to waste all of that pollen! Renathan was calm and quiet, trying to keep his mind off of his worries. This was supposed to be like a little vacation from it all, after all. However, the worries of the pit were still getting to him. There were so many meat-eating creatures there, primed and dangerous predators; sarane and the like. There were also, surprisingly enough, tons of thundergugs, and those were surprisingly worse. They must never die in the wild from predators, Renathan thought. They hardly went down in the pit when struck by lightning, let alone by damage otherwise done!

Renathan wanted to let the female have as much time as she needed before the male was introduced. There was no need to hurry; these rooms were typically rented out until the breeding occurred with no real time limit; though he was sure that they would not be okay if he wanted to stay there all night or anything. Renathan would not under any circumstances call himself a master creature breeder, but he was slowly becoming used to it more and more. "Well, Ery, what do you think?" Renathan asked, reaching out to pet the small creature. She was so golden and pretty; he just wanted to pet her soft almost-fur. She scampered away from him and the boxes quickly enough, however. It would seem as if he had startled her. Ah, well, that would be a trouble in the long run if she continued to be nervous. He hoped that the breeding would eventually calm her down, if she took to the male well enough, so that he could get her back in the crate during that time when it was finally time to go. Right now, however, he wanted to give her just a little bit of time to test the area before letting Marlin out.

After this incident, Ery spent a good amount of time testing out the corners of the room, walking along the wall, and sniffing various things. She had no interest in playing with any of the toys that would probably have kept the attention of orbaru for hours. Pachee were much less complicated breeders, and that was a good thing. Orbaru were meant to be the base breedable creature of the labs from waht Renathan understood, but he also did not know why they were considered that whenever they were easily much more complicated and easy to 'mess up' than the pachee were by miles. After a little bit, Renathan saw Ery visually relax, and he figured that it was time to let out the male. Renathan bent down and opened the door to the crate that carried Marlin; and the neon green creature stepped out; giant back fin surprisingly tall. Renathan wondered how he managed to keep from hurting it; but it was indeed quite cute. Ah, well, who knew what they would come out with? Renathan watched as the male gingerly stepped out of the crate, looking quite nervous, until of course he saw the female. Ah, yes, he was much more confident looking than Shadie had been!

Renathan was already quite enamored with the little creatures; if they did breed, they were really a nice pair. Bright and colorful; maybe the offspring will be colorful as well? He was beginning to hope for a nice orange to green fade; he'd seen fades in pachee that looked great, and wow, maybe if he was lucky the gorgeous fin? He was really hoping for nice markings, and he figured that this strange pair would make a great offspring, or if he was lucky, maybe two? He doubted they would make two though, and who knew, maybe they would make a brown baby or something like that. Don't get Renathan wrong, he liked brown, but he was hoping for something a bit different for this one, at least. "Well, well, little one. Look at her? What are you going to do now, Marlin?" He asked, more so to fill the silence up with something rather than to actually talk to the little male. The male was in his own little world right now anyway; with no interest in Renathan. Pachee were pretty simple; male sees female, and if the female is okay with it; they breed. That was really all that there was.

Renathan was quite hopeful with the two that they would breed, at the very least. They hadn't been here too long, but Renathan was hoping that this would be a quick job, anyway. It was a good thing to do for a bit of a vacation, and he was already feeling quite a bit better. Renathan kept an eye on the two as the male moved forward, all stiff-legged, and the female scooted forward, looking very sinuous for such a small creature, almost like a cat. Ah, that was a good sign, right? Renathan blinked, as he saw the male stand up on his hind legs; that meant that he was going to try to release pollen soon, right? That was how this worked, but would the female be accepting? He didn't know if she had been bred before, after all, and she may be nervous. He was surprised, but pleasantly so, whenever she became receptive to the pollen, and the male began to slap his tail against the floor, releasing tons of pollen everywhere. Renathan shielded his nose and eyes; not wanting to get the pollen in his airways. Well, at least they bred, right? After plenty of pollen appeared the be all where it should be, Renathan got both of the pachee back in the crates easily and left the room.
