Now that they were over the 'hill' of the training, it was time to really drive it home. Morgan was plenty used to this sort of training, and Nico was even moreso. Houluh did, after all, have a good connection with order and enjoyed doing things the same way every single time so that he felt more in control. Morgan was pleased to give him the command to heel a few more times, and each time the signal for 'at ease' was given, the houluh would ease up. Soon, Morgan happily moved on to get the houluh to do the at ease command with other situations. Morgan would have him hide, and then would give the at ease signal. This worked pretty quickly, and Morgan moved on to other different tricks and moves. Soon, Morgan was absolutely sure that the houluh would remember this command from here on out. Now to move on to something else!
One last training bit, Morgan was sure. They had things to do today, and they were beginning to run out of time. The last thing that Morgan wanted to teach the houluh before putting him into the obedience competition was the 'fancy walk'. Needless to say, it wasn't necessarily a fancy walk in so much as Morgan wanted to teach him how to move smoothly while trotting, to fit the way that a houluh was supposed to walk breed-wise. It wouldn't be too hard, Morgan was sure. They had brought weights, actually, to gently place around his feet to get him used to it. Morgan would put them on the front legs, and leave the back legs free to adjust his movement slightly at first. The command for it was already decided, a flat fist held sideways for a flash before moving. Morgan knew that they had to work on this as soon as possible.
Morgan went over all of this in their head, and little did they know the information was leaking through the Ribbon of Telepathy. Alone, the Houluh may not have understood what this barrage of information meant, but thanks to their connection, Nico triangulated emotionally most of the gist of it. That was the best part of training a creature towards the end of their training list like this; Nico was able to catch on to things just based off of Morgan's emotions. They were inseparable. "You ready for the last thing, good boy?" Morgan said. Nico was wagging his tail excitedly already. Morgan gently reached down and put the weights, made exactly for this purpose, and then placed them on the houluh's front legs. It was just a little bit of weight. At this, Morgan called the houluh to heel, and gave the hand sign that Nico sort of expected thanks to the links.
Working together, the pair felt unstoppable often. After the command was given, Morgan gave the command to heel, and immediately Nico went to walk at heel. However, the weights forced him forward just so; exactly what Morgan thought of. Morgan was, after all, quite knowledgeable about biology at this point. Nico didn't have trouble at all, just adjusted forward and then when Morgan sped up, he did so naturally. Finally, Morgan was practically running, and it was smooth sailing with Nico right alongside them. Morgan was so pleased about this. Morgan stopped, and then gave Nico a treat and lots of pets! "Good boyo, great job Nico!" Morgan said, pleased so much with his ability. They would need to work on this a few more times, and Morgan carefully walked him through it a few more times, always sure to use the command signal for the fancy walk before they started again.
After a few more repeats of this, Morgan was pleased that this was the 'over the hill' moment of the training. They needed to move on to making sure that he would continue to be able to do the walk after this. Morgan gently leaned down and carefully took off the weights, and then checked his legs to make sure that Nico was still going to be okay. Of course, he was quite fine. Morgan had made sure that he was going to be fine, but they always wanted to check just in case something unforeseen had not gone wrong at all. "Alright boyo, just a bit more." Morgan said, feeling somehow that he was going to get this without issue. Morgan called him to heel, and then gave the command for the fancy walk, the hand signal. Nico seemed to understand, and Morgan started off walking, and watched the houluh carefully.
The houluh fell into step after only a second's falter. Perhaps it was the connection between them as trainer and hound, or perhaps it was the creature's own tendency towards order, but Nico fell into step without question afterwards. Morgan moved faster, running now, and the houluh flowed like silk across the ground, his legs in perfect step. That was what Morgan was hoping for! They stopped, and the houluh seemed to already know that he did what Morgan wanted. Morgan gave him a treat, and then patted his head and ears. "Good boyo! Great job Nico!" Then afterwards, Morgan continued to work with him. He never faltered after that, immediately falling into step each time. Morgan always treated him afterwards. It was like that every time they trained- signal, action, treats, repeat. That was always what they did, and Nico excelled in that as he did in all orderly things.
 - [End of 'Fancy Walk'] - [The pair go home.]
Riku: From what I loosely understand about the fish is that it isn't one-use, whereas the berry is. I feel like there wouldn't be any consequence of 'using' the fish...which I'd think just ooc wouldn't be counted for whatever rolls or whatever it is that it uses

Twilight-Claw: Thanks for that piece of info Ren! <3 | But would it be allowed for the flavor of the rp if the berry wasn't filling enough for the Lotine?
Jun 1, 2020 6:09:21 GMT -6
Renathan: There is no need to double up on a fish and a magical berry (doesn't change the effect of the berry at all) in a lotine breeding.
Jun 1, 2020 6:02:21 GMT -6
Twilight-Claw: Does anyone know if it is possible to combine both a magical berry and a fish in a Lotine breeding? Or is you can only choose one of them? (right now writing a Lotine breeding)

Twilight-Claw: I am still interested in trading it for a green drake.

Riku: I got three pet levels and 15c out of it. <3 And all the necessary posts for my job salary form.

Riku: In mine my crossbreed used foxfire to burn it - but then it used incendiary illusion, which was extra scary because my cross is a plant pet with thick fur. It used the distraction to escape. I’m proud of it, and it’s okay that I won’t finish this month.

Renathan: *But of course, the RNG was not having that. / In Morgan's story, the Nyssa was a real thing, so I wanted to have two different situations for the variety.
May 31, 2020 18:15:27 GMT -6
Renathan: Yeah, the 'finished the story but the RNGods are being a butt' thing is a rather unfortunate situation to be in. I had already decided that in Ren's story, the elderly woman had lied about the nyssa and just wanted someone to talk to*

Riku: That makes sense. I've considered that before. -nod- I hope your non-hxr life is going smoothly.

Haix: Just quitting the job. Don't believe I'll be making the ten posts required per month any time soon. XD
May 31, 2020 16:34:01 GMT -6
Riku: Note to haix, I believe you can post the new application form at the same time as the quitting form. Unless you are simply taking an overall break from the job system.

Fiera Ferella: even AT the gardens yet. XD It sucks when you've finished writing your story and haven't gotten a success, because then its like "well... now what?" XD
May 31, 2020 15:51:47 GMT -6
Fiera Ferella: ive found that when there's a quest that might take longer like this, its a good idea to try and space out the story beats to try and roll a success before i get to the meat of the story. XD Like, by the time i was 5 posts in my character wasn't
