"Good boyo, Nico!" Morgan called out, feeling a bit more jovial than perhaps was normal. Morgan gently petted the puppy and tousled his ears, and then gave him the piece of jerky. Now they were really getting somewhere with it, it would seem! Morgan continued to repeat the process continuously, giving the hand signal and then treating the houluh after he made the correct bowing motion. After a while of working with this, Morgan decided to shake it up by standing up, and seeing if the houluh would continue to follow the hand signal. The houluh did so without any issues; so Morgan continued with the repetitious processes. The creature had slowly gotten more and more particular with it; he had a way of bowing that almost looked quite mature, and that made Morgan (much to their chagrin) chuckle a bit. Morgan glanced around to make sure no one had seen that; and then continued to work with the houluh until they were absolutely sure that he had gotten the 'bow' behavior down.
Morgan suddenly remembered another important command that would need to be gone over; Drop. What if the houluh pup had decided to chew or pick up something that they were not supposed to? Morgan would have to tell the creature to drop it, and that would certainly be bad if they had not already went over the command. It was quite important, over all, how could Morgan had forgotten that? A quick sigh later, and Morgan tried to figure out what the best command for this would be (eventually 'drop' was decided upon since it was simple and this should only really be used up close) and then how to best train this behavior. It was one of those things like the 'no' command that Morgan wished they didn't really have any need for, but alas, it was quite important with animals since they didn't really have the presence of mind not to do things that could hurt them sometimes.
Morgan stepped over to the cherry and wrought iron park bench and picked up something that Morgan knew the puppy would grow to love; a cherry-colored holey-ball. As soon as Morgan picked it up, the tiny houluh's tail began wagging incredibly fast, his tongue lolling out, and his ears perked. Morgan couldn't help but grin; he was adorable... There was nothing quite as cute as a puppy. Morgan gently tossed the ball; not too far away, and like any other canid the puppy ran to go get it. He didn't know how to catch or fetch yet; though Morgan was planning on training those eventually. For now, they'd just work on the drop command. Morgan then walked over to the puppy; and of course he took off running around in circles, holding the cherry-colored holey ball in his mouth. Morgan eventually caught up with him and then dropped down to the grass. "Nico, drop." Morgan said, holding their hand under the creature's mouth.
Nico held the holey ball in his mouth, and chewed a bit. Of course, the toy was made out of some really gummy but not entirely chewable stuff, so it was just fine. "Nico, drop." Morgan repeated, and then gently, ever so gently, suggested that the creature let go of the ball by just barely pulling on it. Nico was very responsive to Morgan, more so than Morgan would have expected from a creature they had just received not two hours ago, judging by the sunlight. The houluh dropped the ball, looking a bit upset, but acting as if he knew for fact that he would get the ball back. Morgan gently petted the creature's head, and then gave it lots of praise. "Good boyo, Great job Nico." Afterwards, Morgan tossed the ball again, not too far away. The houluh ran towards it again. Sooner or later, Morgan was sure that they would teach it to actually return to them with it.
After a little while, of course, the houluh has the cherry holey ball in his mouth again. Morgan chases the creature around, having a bit more fun than they would perhaps like to admit. After a while, they were right back in the position that they had been in just a bit previously; with Morgan leaned down in front of the creature with their hand under his mouth, calling the command; "Nico, drop." This time, the houluh was a bit more accommodating, and with reluctance, dropped the holey ball into Morgan's palm. Morgan could certainly live without the slobber, and quickly wiped their hand off on the grass before giving the creature a piece of jerky and lots of praise. "Good boyo, Nico!" Now that the creature was performing quite well, Morgan knew that they just needed to keep repeating this to make sure that the creature would do it well enough without too many issues as time went on.
More repetition today, it would seem, but thankfully with Nico it wasn't quite as stressful and boring as it could have been. The young puppy was a great learner, and was quite attentive, as if the only thing it wanted to do in it's life was please. Most puppies were that way, Morgan knew, so it wasn't exactly too odd, just in combination with the laser-like focus and the quick learning was it a bit rare and odd to find. Morgan would toss the ball, the creature would not return it, but Morgan would finally catch up and then call the command for 'drop. Whenever the houluh would drop the ball, he was given treats and praise, the works. Eventually, Morgan began throwing the ball and then calling the 'drop' command without being directly there to take it away, and Nico was dropping the ball then as well. Finally, Morgan was convinced that the creature had gotten the command well enough, and knew that they could move on to something else for now.
Morgan had been planning on just one more training bit, but even though it was now right after noon, Morgan was not exactly feeling like they needed to cut this short. Nico did not seem to be tiring too quickly, despite still being a puppy, so after a moment's hesitation, Morgan decided to actually go ahead and teach 'fetch'. Morgan wasn't sure why, but it didn't seem ultra common for people to just slow down and play fetch with any of their creatures. Too much battle-oriented training, and not enough slowing down to just... Play. Morgan took the ball from the creature, and then began to consider how they were going to do this training. It shouldn't be too hard; combining the tendency for the creature to run after the ball, with the come command, and the drop command, they should be able to play fetch easily enough. Morgan was sure that it would be fine, since they had all the pieces.
Nico was one of the speediest learners that Morgan had seen, of course having a houluh was going to be even better than Morgan had even thought that it would be. Was Spice this attentive and quick to learn for their father? Morgan was so young, they could hardly remember anything other than Spice being one of the most well-behaved creatures that Morgan had ever met. "Would you like to learn to play fetch, Nico?" Morgan asked, bent down with their hands on their knees. Nico was wagging his tail so hard that his butt was waggling too, which was absolutely too cute. He had no idea what Morgan was saying, but it was easy to get drawn in to his excitedness. Morgan picked up the holey ball again, and this time threw it to the creature. Of course, Nico picked it up off of the grass, and bounded around.
Not too long later, Morgan called for the creature to come to them using the whistle, and then said "Nico, drop." In a quick command. Nico dropped the toy, and Morgan picked it up. "Good boy Nico, good boyo!" Then, Morgan threw the toy again as a treat. Off the houluh pup went, as fast and graceful as the wind, and Morgan was pleased with it. As soon as the houluh got the holey ball; Morgan called the creature over, and then commanded it to drop the toy. Nico once again dropped the toy, and Morgan picked up the toy. "Are you getting it now, boyo?" Morgan asked, kindly. Then they took the ball and threw it again, this time they would see if the creature was going to manage to bring it to them and perhaps even drop it without being told to? Just for the fun of playing the game, of course.
The houluh pup raced away at the practical speed of doggy light; tongue lolling and looking like he was having the absolute best time of his life. Perhaps he even was, Morgan knew that those sorts of simple things were the kinds of things any canid loved to do. Nico rushed forward and then grabbed the holey ball in his teeth, and then immediately turned around to bring it to Morgan quickly enough. Morgan cracked a deep grin that was somehow more of a smirk. "Good job Nico!" Morgan said, as the creature ran up to them with the ball. Letting it go was another story, but as soon as Morgan put their hand beneath the houluh's mouth, the holey ball was dropped into their palm slobber and all without any ministrations. "Good boyo, Nico!" Morgan said, petting the houluh on his head after wiping their hand off on the grass.
Morgan knew that it would take a few more attempts to really get this down. Repetition was absolutely required to make sure that anyone would remember anything that they were working on. Due to this, Morgan needed to keep throwing that holey ball! The day was beginning to progress, but it just felt so good to be out somewhere with a creature without having to worry about every little thing all the time. "Such a good boyo!" Morgan praised, each time that the ball that was thrown was quickly retrieved and brought back to them. It was a very good day today; quite warm and nice, and Nico's quick picking up of this particular fetching trick was really allowing both of them to ride the high of the cool breeze that was beginning to form... Would it storm today? Morgan was concerned, but it was in the very back of their mind; as if they really didn't care. Soon, Morgan was convinced that the houluh had gotten this fetch trick.
Now that Morgan was done with most of the basic obedience that would absolutely be required, and also a few of the more basic cute tricks, they had to think about whether or not they needed to go home soon, or work on a few more training bits and bobs. Morgan eventually decided that they could stand to train a few more tricks as long as the houluh wasn't too tired. Morgan decided that instead of using treats, however, using the holey ball as a possible reward would be an excellent idea; it would keep him from being overfed by accident in the future. What should they work on next... Morgan stood there holding the holey ball while they thought, and then decided that 'beg' would be adorable! "We're going to teach you to beg next!" Morgan said, ashamedly excited. Of course, the houluh did not know what they were talking about, but he was so excited to be being talked to.
Morgan bent down close to the grass, and thought suddenly; 'I haven't really bent down near this much in a long time- my legs will probably be sore later...' Which was odd in and of itself; that was quite random! However, Morgan logicked their-self out of it, to say the absolute least, by reminding their-self that it was indeed warranted. After that distracting bit of a fiasco, Morgan knew that it was time to really get into the whole bow command. But what command would they use? Wow, they were really beginning to slip, right? The bespectacled human took a moment to decide upon a simple command; they would hold their hand up above the creature closed into a fist. That way the houluh would assume something was in their hands, and would probably find it quite easy to do a beg. Morgan held one hand up with a piece of jerky held in the fist, and then gently guided the houluh up with the other hand.
The houluh pup was guided into a sitting position, and then Morgan gently grabbed both front limbs, and lifted them up. The houluh shifted his weight back to the best of his ability to sit up on his haunches, trying desperately to do what Morgan wanted him to do, whatever that was. The whole time he kept his eyes on the jerky piece that it knew was in Morgan's hand. Morgan was quite pleased with this, and then gave the Houluh his jerky piece. "Good boyo, Nico!" Morgan let go of the creature's front limbs. After a moment or two, it would seem that Nico understood to at least some degree that the position, like all the other ones previously, meant treats. Perhaps it had not quite gotten the command yet, however. Morgan knew that it would come with continued repetition. Morgan held up their hand in the same way again, and the houluh looked from the hand, to Morgan, and back.
Morgan was proud with the creature, and was even more proud when, after given a bit of time, Nico began to raise up his front legs, balancing precariously sitting on his hind ones. The bespectacled human immediately gave him the coveted piece of jerky, and petted his head and ears, giving lots of praise. "Such a good boyo, Nico!" Nico settled back onto all of his legs, and ate the tiny piece of jerky super quickly. They were doing so well today, and Morgan could not be more pleased at all with the situation. He would be surprisingly decently trained by the time they got home to the mansion today, and Morgan was sure that he wouldn't cause any property damage with all of this work. "Yes, good boyo." Morgan knew that they needed to keep working with this beg command to make sure that it really sunk in, though.
Morgan: No one knows yet. But I did want to make it clear that the jar itself isn't used for lotine husbandry in any way. c:

Twilight-Claw: I'm only assuming that it does something similar like a Fungal Beast that infects a Leaf-scatter. (the one with moss and I think it was a pink flower growing on the head.)
Jun 5, 2020 4:18:34 GMT -6
Silver: I'll try it soon and we'll find out!
Jun 5, 2020 4:16:11 GMT -6
Silver: I don't think anyone knows yet!
Jun 5, 2020 4:16:05 GMT -6
Darky: What did the 'infection' do again?
Jun 5, 2020 4:14:43 GMT -6
Twilight-Claw: Thanks for this information, its really useful to know! <3
Jun 5, 2020 4:14:30 GMT -6
Morgan: The lolatic doesn't disappear after one use, and can be reused on the same lotine when it is allowed to 'infect' a lotine- to my knowledge.
Jun 5, 2020 1:41:37 GMT -6
Morgan: The only effect/thing that the jar can be used for is to open up into a lolatic. The jar itself has no use in lotine breedings.
Jun 5, 2020 1:39:52 GMT -6
Twilight-Claw: and the jar is then gone, if with the creature I am more guessing with this the creature doesn't disappear and it has unlimited use.
Jun 5, 2020 0:17:55 GMT -6
Twilight-Claw: Something else I am wondering about with the Lotine breeding is whether one would use the jar the Lolatic comes from in the breeding, or actually the creature itself. I'm assuming with it if its the jar, then it gives people only one shot in a breeding,
Jun 5, 2020 0:16:08 GMT -6
Twilight-Claw: Then using it in my rps is definitely just for the sake of rp's and not for anything additional.
Jun 5, 2020 0:12:17 GMT -6
Renathan: Fish are unlimited use once bought though. c:
Jun 4, 2020 22:31:17 GMT -6
Renathan: There's no additional effect for adding a fish to a magical berry in a lotine breeding. Magical Berry is kinda it's own thing. Adding a fish for roleplay value shouldn't hurt, but it has no effect when used on a magical berry lotine breeding.
Jun 4, 2020 22:27:14 GMT -6
Twilight-Claw: be just for the sake of rp, and perhaps seeing if it might lent a bigger chance to multiple offspring with unique pattern. X3
Jun 4, 2020 15:31:01 GMT -6
Twilight-Claw: I think your right on it being unlimited use yeah, although.. *cough* I only found out a couple hours after I started writing that I had yet to buy the fish in question so used the one you could get for free as a replacement, it still was meant to mostly
Jun 4, 2020 15:30:59 GMT -6
Riku: From what I loosely understand about the fish is that it isn't one-use, whereas the berry is. I feel like there wouldn't be any consequence of 'using' the fish...which I'd think just ooc wouldn't be counted for whatever rolls or whatever it is that it uses
Jun 3, 2020 14:14:30 GMT -6
Twilight-Claw: Thanks for that piece of info Ren! <3 | But would it be allowed for the flavor of the rp if the berry wasn't filling enough for the Lotine?
Jun 1, 2020 6:09:21 GMT -6
Renathan: There is no need to double up on a fish and a magical berry (doesn't change the effect of the berry at all) in a lotine breeding.
Jun 1, 2020 6:02:21 GMT -6
Twilight-Claw: Does anyone know if it is possible to combine both a magical berry and a fish in a Lotine breeding? Or is you can only choose one of them? (right now writing a Lotine breeding)
Jun 1, 2020 5:36:49 GMT -6
Twilight-Claw: I am still interested in trading it for a green drake.
