Patting the hen's neck as means of apology, it was hard to not take note of how much taller Meade was getting while leaning up against her, how much heavier she was getting. "Okay kid, this way now. For real, this time," she spoke as she turned around, getting a bit of a side-eye from her critter in response. "At least I'm pretty sure," she added with a grin. It wasn't as though she made a habit of crystal hunting, after all. It was rather expected of the place that as she rounded the bush she was pretty sure got them here in the first place, there were only more columns of lilac bushes to be found. That was... fine, as long as the mansion let them out. She hadn't heard any rumors of people getting trapped in here too long, right? All the same, the satyr wound Meade's leash a few times around her hand to ensure she could feel the tension against it just in case something went awry. It was likely the place having it's strange fun, but it always reminded her of how capable the magics here were. February|49

Rounding what she thought to be another row of blooming hedges turned out to be a path - one that led in a smooth curve from where she stuck her head out to the looming wrought iron gate. As if cut out just for it, a recess in the branches just beside the exit held yet another hope chest. Well. It was probably the most polite way someone had ever shown her the way to the door, that was for sure. "Looks like it is time to be gettin' home," she informed Meade, not quite able to breathe a sigh of relief just yet. Approaching the treasure chest, she winced against the pitch in her ear to push forward, fumbling with the latch to flip the lid open as soon as she could. There were other love tokens in this one all the same, but she overlooked them to seek out the two crystals in the center of it all. Their energy was enough to send a little shock through her fingertips as they curled around the void crystals, their magical pitch fizzing out as their vibrations quieted in her closed hand. Finally able to take a breath, she was more than happy to take the mansion's invitation to leave. Meade lv|23 ly|23 February|50

Lethalia wasn't entirely sure the mansion thrilled her this month, with it already being dedicated to chaos and trickery. As if the magical place needed any more of a reason to play with it's guests! She would be excited if it were only about soft dreaming, and wouldn't think twice about bringing a puppy there. But in reality when the mansion decided to make itself some kind of twisted funhouse, if peoples' accounts were to be believed? Not all that tempting to her, but Gold had grown fairly restless with their daily routine. Just trying to out-play the pup when she got a break between work and chores was apparently not enough activity to keep the hyper pup from getting bored. At a loss on where else to entertain the puppy with, the satyr found herself staring down the mansion gates once again. How did she keep meandering back here if she disliked it so much? Lethalia knew nothing more was going to come out of staring at a completely ordinary mansion. That was the problem though, and led her to trying to discern it's trick with fingers woven into the gate while Gold fidgeted and whined about their pause. It was just... there was no bringing up the place with others around here. Either the mansion itself was simply too indescribable to be a topic of conversation in polite company, or others would never believe the sinister inkling she got form the building. It had only hidden a pet from her once, and the mansion did return the hen in fairly short order. Every time she thought about it though, a shiver crept up her spine like someone had been sneaking up behind her. If it had the capability of taking her pet from plain sight, then it was capable of so much more than what it had revealed. April|2

"Y'keep an eye out fer any spooks for me?"' Lethalia asked the pup. It didn't take much to get a yip and swaying tail, eager to attend to all of the new smells she could get samples of from out here! Somehow her puppy protective services didn't make her feel entirely better, but at least Gold could bite some ankles if she really needed to. It just wasn't that kind of protection that was needed right now. For the more empyreal aspects of the place though, perhaps she couldn't ask for a better companion than a houluh. You know what they say, that a dog 'knows' about certain things before their humans do. Feeling a bit better, she looked down to ask Gold something else, the question dying on her lips. Gold had gotten hold of her white-tipped tail, spinning herself around in circles as means of entertainment while her owner was being boring. April|3

This was her protection, alright. Maybe the idea was spinning around like a top would scare away any said spooks. Resigning herself to her fate, Lethalia tested the latch and shook the gate - all seemed normal as far as this place was concerned. Gold perked at the squeal of the gate, immediately behind her human's legs and trying to push a wet nose between her ankles to sneak in as soon as possible. Moving a leg to let the pup run up to the gate, Gold's nose smashed into the iron gate now that her owner wasn't opening it anymore. "Somebody's in a hurry," Lethalia said, scratching the back of her pup's struggling head. Holding the gate closed just enough Gold couldn't wedge anything more than her muzzle past the precipice, no matter how determined she was to wedge herself in there first. Lethalia found it hard to be in a rush over many things, let alone going to the mansion. April|4

Gold was young enough to get away with quite a bit if she tried, but it was a simple lesson for her to learn early. Lethalia would have to teach her to heel when she was older and more patient, but for now there was something to be learned for a puppy to not such ahead. And messing with the houluh was a pretty decent distraction from the mansion! There was no pushing it out of her mind when looking into the gap of the gate; were those circus diamonds and colors? Over Gold's whining, Lethalia could nearly hear a crowd cheering on the garish colors. The scent of those kind of places were forever imprinted in the satyr's mind, and they all drew fourth in an instant. tent hot from the sun and amount of bodies and lights crammed inside, giving a hot-dirty-canvas smell to overlay the farmyard scent of so many animals. There was some attempt to mask the smell of the place with torches of incense, a few creatures who could serve the circus with their sweet scent. It was never enough. Inside of the tent, it was hard for the bouquet of bodies and animals together to contend with what loveliness was outside. Still, the richness of fresh frying dough and bonfires seeped through the flaps if you were close enough to get a breath of fresh air. Reeling from the assault of nostalgia, Lethalia looked down to find even Gold looking quite concerned over her complexion. "Heya, little'un, I'm okay," she reassured and ruffed the pup's ears, realizing she must have gone pretty quiet if even Gold wasn't trying to push her way in. There was no way of knowing if the place was bringing fourth a memory invoked from her past somehow, or it just so happened to choose a setting at random that happened to conjure up so many memories for her. Something was to be said about the strength of the smell of some memories... not entirely bad, just a fact of the place. When she glanced up into the gap in the gate and the apparition was gone, Lethalia couldn't help that it felt like some kind of loss that it was gone. She could have gotten lost in a place like that for hours, if she could have stepped into a carnival tent and out into the rest of the merriment that would always spill outside. Though something was comforting about the memories, she couldn't help but acknowledge the concern over the mansion dangling some tempting in front of her. During her little time of zoning out, there was that unintended consequence of making Gold wait her fair share for her to get out of it so... that wasn't awful? Getting the puppy to be a little patient, maybe? April|7

Nope. As soon as Lethalia began to respond and stand herself up straight, Gold was wiggling and piing to be let into this mystical, scent-filled place! If there was any reason to expect some turnabout in the houluh's personality, she wasn't giving any indication of it. Sighing to herself and double-checking th3e sight between the gate bars, Lethalia shortened up Gold's leash and told her to sit as she opened the gate for them. Gold having her personality was fine, but she'd still learn some manners! Looking quite forlornly into the green fields on the other side of the fence, she was made to hold her sit for a few moments longer. That didn't mean it happened without an excess of whining, wiggling, and tippy-tapping front paws as she looked to her owner for permission. "Aight, lessgo," the satyr told the pup, releasing her from her torturous wait. April|8

Shooting out from her restless sit, Gold hit the end of the shortened leash in no time to pull uselessly against it. Lethalia paused again, letting the houluh strain and try and get ahead all she wanted, but not letting her being a jerk get her any quarter. She'd have to learn to heel soon, but that would start with small things like this - not letting her progress because she was pulling. The moment Gold stopped pulling on the leash long enough to throw a distraught look back at her human, Leth got moving again to serve as a reward for the houluh not tugging anymore. No matter how brief or intentional the lapse was. Looking up from the pup for the first tine once inside, the satyr still couldn't place just what bothered her about the mansion this time around. It still looked rather like one would expect a neat suburban mansion to look in the spring, which seemed completely... wrong. April|9

'Something' began to feel a lot like a fever dream, with every step the satyr took further. Lethalia squinted at the house, trying to discern what it was that looked off about the place - until it looked like something wiggled past her shoulder. Was that - the trees, she hadn't been focusing on them - were the leaves not quite right? Out of the corner of her eye, the foilage began to drip and drool, suspending themselves and springing to life as if suddenly made from rubber. Trying to look straight at them, the leaves snapped back to their innocuous oval shape, and the peals of bark stopped coming to life. Looking forward to the door of the mansion again, Lethalia staggered and tamped down on her upset stomach as the mansion front rushed at her all at once, it's twisted door looming stories above her horns. "Gold," she said, testing for resistance against the leash. Finding the houluh where it ended, Lethalia yanked her up and announced, "We're leaving!"Gold lv|14 ly|28 April|10 leaving the mansion with Gold

Lethalia hadn't expected to ever get into hounds - she could very nearly count the number of mammals she had on one hand. Preferences didn't intentionally drift towards the scaled and bitey, but somehow she managed to accrue a number more lizards than anything else. And no, learning or being informed of the proper terminology still wouldn't keep her from referring to them collectively as lizards. Certainly, she didn't plan on getting more houluh than her original Boy - but then she felt so guilty when his playmate went on to a new home. So happened Gold from the APAA. Gold grew so fast, she needed another companion for boy - so Maple happened. This little girl she was now referring to as Foggy? She had no such 'reasoning' for Foggy. There had been a puppy she simply couldn't resist, and now the grey-white blur in front of her... was a thing. Foggy lv|0.1 ly|0.1 December|1
