"You could be a little more excited, I mean, you get to fight something," Jack told him with a frown as they flew to the area they needed to be in. While it might not have been the most subtle entrance, at least people expected to see her there, being an Archmage's Understudy herself and all. She went to the tower every now and then, whenever she was in charge of things, and the woman smiled a little as she thought about it, even though all she got from Alexei was, "Hmph." He was cranky because he'd been woken up, but he truly was excited about the prospect of fighting something she figured, feeling the things emanating from him at the moment. Jack was sure he'd been rather pent up lately from not fighting, but she didn't know what else to do about things like that for a moment. She wasn't sure what would happen in the tower, but that was fine she thought with a little frown on her face, and she didn't know what else to think of for the moment as well. Jack had Alexei land and then led him through the service entrance, this would be fun.

It sounded like a real monster, and she was looking forward to fighting it. It was probably something skeletal or whatever, maybe patchworked remains? Those seemed to be rather popular lately with the mages, but she wasn't one to judge or anything, which was fine by her at the moment. Jack just wanted to get things done and get out, she didn't want to be in the tower any longer than necessary and answer a lot of awkward questions. She was sure things would end up well, and she glanced over at Alexei as they walked to the tower and entered into the basement. It was going to take some tracking to find this thing she was sure, Alexei might be able to sniff it out, but she wanted to have her skills put to the test at the moment in time, and she was hopeful she would be able to figure it out no matter what, and that was going to be the best of it all after awhile. Nothing was going to go wrong, even if Alexei somehow went down, she had her nodes and her swords on her, and she was sure things would end up for the best no matter what.

Things were going to get interesting, and while she got a few odd looks at having a Drake in the tower with her, it didn't matter as soon as they slipped into the sub basement. Alexei was small and light on his feet, she had trained him into that for tournaments quite some time ago, and he hadn't really been out of the Kennel since he had won his tournament. Things were going to go great with him though she figured with a little smile, and she hoped that she was going to be ready for this, along with him as well for now. Jack chewed on her lip a little as she looked around the dusty old tower and wondered what was going to happen as time went on. Things were going to go well for now she thought, and she didn't know what else was going to happen as of yet at the moment. Alexei was sure they were doomed, he hadn't been in a good fight for a long time, but that was fine, he would do alright when it was all said and done she figured, he hadn't lost his edge or anything, which was definitely a good thing she figured.

As long as they were together, then things would be fine she figured, slinging an arm over Alexei's shoulders as she looked at the floor a little bit. She saw a few tracks, something with a long tail had been through, but it had been a little bit since it had been there she figured with a little smile. At least she had the beginnings of a trail, and she couldn't wait to see what was going to happen as time went on. She was sure things were going fine for the moment as she turned to Alexei, "See? Already have a trail, right?" Alexei snorted and eyed her for a moment before sighing and shaking his head, a very human like thing to do he had picked up from her over the years of knowing each other. She liked him enough to make sure he was her top Drake, and while he had retired before the Sarane had gone sterile for awhile, he was still at the top of the heap no matter how you looked at it. Jack was sure things were going to be fine, but she would prefer to have Alexei with her at the moment no matter what.

Maybe instead of something summoned it was a construct? That could certainly happen, and when she expressed her thoughts to Alexei he simply shook his head, "Wouldn't get loose." Jack tilted her head to the side and gave a little sigh, "Yeah that's true, none of them here are inexperienced enough to let a construct loose in the tower, especially the Archmage's tower..." Alexei bobbed his head a little in a nod and then continued to sniff at the floor as he had been doing for a bit to see if he could hunt down the thing that was in the tower and destroy it. That was the point at least, to destroy whatever was coming for them at the moment, and she was sure he could do it no matter what. Jack just hoped that things would go well enough for herself at the moment and all that, and she smiled a little as she wondered what this beast was exactly. Hmm, she really didn't know, but she knew that things would be fine no matter what. She had Alexei with her after all, he would protect her or Kro would have his skin she knew with a chuckle.

Jack watched the floor along with Alexei, and she wondered if they were on the right trail. It petered out every now and then, making it hard to figure out how old the trail was at the moment. Oh well, it was fine, and she hoped that things would be alright no matter what. Jack sighed a little as she watched the trail run cold again for a few moments before she picked it up again. It was a good thing she had training in this, and Alexei had his nose to the ground as well, hoping to smell it before they found it. He wasn't sure if that was what it was and all that, but hopefully things would be fine after all. She was starting to get a little nervous about things, and she smiled a little as she thought of it. She was nervous, but that was alright, it helped her to feel alive a little bit when it was all said and done she figured. It was all going to work out and she knew it, she just had to figure out what was going on in the tower before she barreled in without thinking like she did sometimes.

Oh, how sad to anyone that loved architecture! A part of the wall appears to have been crashed into, wrecking some of the once-perfect visage of the Lady Archmage!

Sighing a little, she looked forward at the hole in the wall in front of them. Well... whatever it was, it was big and mean it looked like if it crashed through a wall. Jack and Alexei exchanged a look for a moment and then pressed on, trying to find the beast within the tower. Sometimes it was her tower, and she wasn't looking forward to the repairs that were going to be needed for the building as of yet. It was fine though, she thought as she and the Drake went forward through the hole and then down further into the basement on the stairs beyond it. She was sure things would be fine after it all happened, and she didn't know what else to do at the moment either, but that was fine she thought for awhile. Her nodes would help if she and Alexei got separated she thought, and she wondered what all was going to happen while they were there anyway. It was all going to work out well enough she thought for the moment, and she didn't know what was going to happen while she was there. If they fought, she knew they had a pretty good chance of winning really.

All she knew was the Archmage was going to be so mad when she found out what happened, and she was not going to take the fall for this. No, she would take care of it, but whenever she found out, then things weren't going to go down for her at all. She wasn't even going to stand up for the senior understudy, it just wasn't going to work out that way she figured with another little sigh, hand on the Drake's back to help guide her. She snapped her fingers and a light came on over her shoulder, a little mote that provided light in the deep, dark dungeons underneath the tower. She thought she heard some rumbling, but she wasn't sure just yet of all that either. It was fine she thought with a little sigh, she would fix this and then hopefully she would be promoted to senior understudy, though that would eat up a lot of her time that she couldn't afford to have taken from her. Jack just knew if things were going to work out for them, then they needed to find this thing first. It had to be in the bottom levels under the sewers, it had to be.

Alexei was a little nervous about this, he was used to wide open spaces, not confined ones, but he would adjust and adapt, he always had and always would he figured of himself. Jack was there with him and her light was enough for him to see as well, and there were shadows cast all around them as they walked down the spiral staircase. There had been some whisperings up top before they'd come down below about why she had been there now during her time off, and with a prominent Drake at that. They all knew some of her more impressive animals, but that wasn't new to them really, so she didn't know what the big deal was. Sure, it was odd for her to be there during her time off, but that was fine, they all knew there was something up anyway. Jack didn't know what was going to happen, but people knew things here, and word traveled fast no matter what you might try to do at the same time. She was sure people already knew what was going on, it was just a matter of time before it got to the Archmage herself it seemed, she thought.

The little light over her shoulder casted shadows around them, and the Drake stared at them as they walked, finally reaching a platform. The two of them rested for a little bit, the woman sitting down on one of the steps and then the Drake laid down a little bit, and she smiled a little at him. "It's alright, we're in no rush just yet you know," she told him, patting him on the back. "Yes, I know..." he trailed off as he put his head on his front paws and closed his eyes tightly. He was tired of seeing all the shadows, that's not what he was meant to see all the time as it was. There was a reason he breathed fire he thought with a little smirk on his face as he rested, he needed to be in top shape before they met whatever beast was down there in the first place. Jack pushed a hand through her hair and leaned on the Drake as he rested, wondering what she was going to have to do to get things done around here. She really needed to step up and do things just fine without dealing with it properly. Maybe. That wouldn't get her very far.

No, she had to step up and do things properly to get anywhere she knew, and that was fine by her at the same time. Jack didn't know what to do with things right now, but that was fine when it was all said and done she figured, glancing at Alexei who was pretending to be asleep at the moment. Chuckling, she patted him on the back again and listened deep underground to see if she could hear anything. There were a few clicks and grunts from deep within everything, and she knew it was only a matter of time before the beast found its way upstairs again and wreaked havoc on the Archmage's party. She sighed a little and didn't know what was going to happen at the moment, she needed to find this thing with Alexei and then get back out, a little more stealthily this time, so the Archmage didn't see her and interrogate her. She wasn't afraid of her, she just didn't want to answer a lot of tricky questions she figured. Nothing bad was going to happen at the moment, it was all going to be alright, and the woman just had to focus on the here and now before anything else.

Finally standing up, Jack urged the Drake to his feet, "Come on, the sooner we get this done the sooner we get home." Alexei groaned a little and then heaved to his feet as ponderously as he could to show her his displeasure, and then headed down again. Sure, he needed to have his energy, but he needed to move too she thought. She needed to do it too she figured with a little frown, not that she really wanted to at the moment, but that was the whole point of this. She was also wondering what the senior understudy was offering for a reward for cleaning up his mess too, intriguing at least, he was pretty good with magical items, though he lacked some of the other basic skills at the moment. Jack wanted to see what she could do with certain things, and the only way to see what she could do was to push herself, so she went on these quests with some of her animals, this time with Alexei and all that. Without a doubt, this is what she lived for, danger and unexpected things happening she figured. Alexei wasn't so sure though, he'd fought worse though, he supposed.

A sound emanates from further in the tower, but... From where? It reverberates in a funny way that makes the head spin a tad; just what was this thing?
