Seimei was super upset at the prospect of Morgan suggesting they start with something easier, so Morgan acquiesced. They opened up the thicker book, and showed off the first picture. "This is a wiurn." Morgan started off reading to him. Then, they continued. Morgan would read a few lines, and then let Seimei try to read those lines back to them. He was excellent with it. After that, they started to alternate. Morgan would read a sentence, and then Seimei would read a sentence. Seimei was much slower than Morgan, having difficulty sounding out the words. However, he was slowly gaining proficiency by the end of the day. They returned the next day to more of the same. Seimei was a little faster this day, excitedly obtaining information but being corrected on some of his accidental hiccups. Luckily for him, he had heard common from Morgan nearly his entire life. Seimei was slowly beginning to pick it up. Slowly being a relative turn to his own intelligence, because he was blowing Ryuusei's speed out of the water. It was actually baffling to Morgan how 'made for this' Seimei's mind was. He was so aloof, but he dug into the basic books Morgan loaned him like he was holding onto a prayer. It was baffling. Sometimes, in the middle of the night even, Seimei would come into Morgan's room asking for books. Morgan loaned him nearly all of the young kid books in their library, until finally they ran out. Seimei was impatient with the kid books, anyway. He felt they were beneath him. During the days, Morgan and Seimei would read the encyclopedia, alternating between Morgan reading a sentence, and Seimei reading a sentence, sooner or later- Seimei got even a little faster than Morgan did, over the week that they worked on it first.

Morgan eventually stopped switching on and off with Seimei, and simply let him read the sentences. Some of the larger words he would have difficulty with. Often, he would ask what a word meant, and then immediately memorize it. Seimei's mind was... Gifted, that was for sure. Morgan wasn't sure if it was because he was more focused on human-like things than tat-lung-like things or what, but he was doing far better than Morgan would have imagined. Of course, Morgan had read to the tat-lungs since they were very young, and then show them pictures, so it wasn't like Seimei couldn't have been trying to puzzle it out back then, when Ryuusei was more interested in making sure his claws and scales were perfectly clean. However, by the end of the second week, Seimei's proficiency levels were almost where Morgan wanted them to be. Just a little more work, Morgan knew.

The third week was going to be the last, Morgan just knew it. It was beating Ryuusei's time by a whole week, provided it even took this entire week, and actually, Ryuusei would wind up finishing his learning at the same time as Seimei if this continued on. Morgan brought Seimei to the park again, and sat down on one of the park tables. Seimei reclined on the grass, and reached out for a book. Any book. He just loved reading. Morgan had selected an intermediate difficulty book- a young adult novel in fact, for him. Seimei began reading on the grass, aloud, quietly. He became quite enamored with the characters right away. Morgan sat there while he read to them, understanding his communication through the ring. The ring really had more than paid for itself, had it not? The human listened and Seimei read. Seimei asked only a couple of times what words meant, this time.

For the next two days, they returned. Morgan would sit on top of the park bench, and Seimei would continue to recline in the grass while reading this novel. He hardly ever needed help, only to find out what words meant. The human knew that he would need a dictionary soon, a basic one with pictures, to help him understand the meanings of words while they weren't there. They wanted to let him finish this novel before he was to be given the dictionary, though. Morgan wanted to let him know that they would be there to help him if he needed it, and Seimei was very bad about taking subtle hints incredibly harshly. He would probably never ask Morgan another question about word meanings again, if he was given the dictionary before he was skilled. After the third day of that week, the book was finished. It hadn't been too long, but it was a medium-difficulty one.

The next day, Morgan presented Seimei with two things. The first was his very own dictionary. Of course they had given Ryuusei one as well, but this one was Seimei's. Then, Morgan presented him an extra key, on a cord, to their library. He could wear it around his neck and use it to open the library door any time he wanted. Seimei couldn't help but look at Morgan with an almost hurt expression on his face. It was probably the nicest thing anyone had ever done for him, in his head. Morgan could distinctly feel that across the link. "You did it, Seimei. F-from here on out, you're on your own when it comes to readin'. You've got it down." Morgan congratulated him. Of course, this wasn't the end of their lessons in general, but Morgan knew that he knew how to read, now. It was time to move on to other things.
