For now however, she put the crystal away. She tucked it away in her mine cart almost as if it were a baby, patting it gently before getting up and taking the handle of the mine cart. It was finally time to move on. “You ready, Viridia?” She said, tugging on the knot keeping the gem wyrm tied to the cart before finally holding the leash herself. If Viridia cared, she didn’t show it. Fiera shrugged and glanced back at the hole she had made. She had really done a number on the otherwise smooth walls of the main hall of the mines, but... ehn. Chances are someone else would come over and fill it in, or smooth it out to match the rest of it. It wasn’t her problem, at the very least. “Alright, come on then!” She said chirpily, tugging on Viridia’s leash and starting out toward the nearest tunnel.

Just as soon as Fiera turned the corner into another tunnel, she was met by... well, honestly a terrifying sight. Not wanting to be seen, she ducked behind the nearest outcropping again. Even Viridia had the sense to stick by her. There was a worm and a wyrm in there, fighting over... well, it looked like a pebble, but Fiera knew it was more to creatures who ate that sort of thing. The only problem was, one of them was MASSIVE. They were set to start tearing each other to shreds, but Fiera had a different idea. She knew that gem wyrms ate gems exclusively whereas tunnel worms would take meat if they got it... and if there was multiple options for food, perhaps they wouldn't be at each other's throats. With that in mind, Fiera leaned out around the corner again and tossed one of her own gems closer to them, pulling it from her pocket.

The wyrm rumbled lightly when it smelled something new, and it whirled around in alarm when the gem clattered against the floor of the mines. What was this? It glanced at the worm before diving at the stone, while the worm sniffed at the air, it's many eyes going a little red when it smelled flesh. Moving slowly toward where it smelled it, it rounded the corner and screamed when it saw the woman.

Well, the wyrm was satisfied as Fiera saw it snatch up the rock, but now she had a different problem. This worm was a LOT bigger than her last one, and while not larger than her, she was sure it could do some damage if it really wanted to. “H-hey there, bud...” She said hesitantly as she dug through her bag, shooting Viridia a quick glance. As expected, her own jade wyrm had hidden herself behind the mine cart. Well, fine then. She could do this all on her own. Finally she found it- her sandwich. She pulled out a strip of ham from it and held it up. “You want this?” She said enticingly, before nodding and tossing it in front of the creature. Hopefully it would start to see her as a source of food and not food herself. She could hold her own, but in these conditions she didn’t really WANT to.

The worm hissed as the wyrm itself covered the original and the new stones. It wasn't sure what to do, but it knew there was food there, and it inched forward some more with another hiss as it snatched at the ham, devouring it quickly before snarling and hissing for more.

The wyrm seemed satisfied for now, but Fiera nudged over another stone with her foot while holding her sandwich in her hand, trying to keep both of the creatures distracted and away from each other. As the worm snapped up the ham, Fiera struggled to get another slice of ham out of her sandwich. When she finally had it, she held it out and walked a couple steps closer to the tunnel worm before throwing it down. She was aiming to finally get between them and get the worm comfortable with her as opposed to seeing her as prey... or at least it would realize how much bigger she was than it and would leave her alone. Hopefully the first one would be the case though- it would be QUITE interesting to own a creature this size. Viridia stared out at the scene from behind the cart, suspicious. If Fiera was going to risk her fingers fine, but she would have no part in it.

The wyrm was fine, and it slithered behind the woman to cast a wary eye on the worm who was still staring at the woman hungrily. There didn't seem to be a peaceful way to end this, especially once it lunged at her!

The humanish was delighted when the wyrm slithered over to her side with its prizes. Another pet for the kennels! Her inner pack rat was delighted. Unfortunately, that still left the... less cooperative beast to deal with. It was clear to her that it’s behavior was getting more and more erratic, and she doubted it was going to be as easily cowed by her size and strength as her other tunnel worm, Victor was. After all, he was a third the size of this massive beast and far shorter than Fiera. When the creature lunged at her however, Fiera had to act fast, her old wartime instincts snapping back into action, just like getting on a bike. Instead of fleeing however, she lashed out for the nearest thing she could consider a weapon- her shovel, leaning against the mine cart- and held it out in front of her, surging forward. If she was lucky, she could pin it against the cave wall- or at least get the solid wood in its mouth instead of her face.

The wood went straight into it's mouth and almost went all the way through the back of it's throat. The worm gurgled a little and then slumped between the wood of the shovel and the wall of the mines, passed out and injured, not knowing where it was going to be when it woke up.
[Congratulations, you've caught the wyrm and worm!]

Fiera yelped too as the shovel went... not where she was expecting it. She was trying to block its jaws, not stab the poor creature in the throat! Granted, it HAD been trying to eat her, but that was no reason to hurt the poor thing. Still, it seemed to be defeated for now, lying in a heap against the wall. The humanish clucked her tongue, pondering how to get it out of here as the gem wyrms stared at her. Eventually she decided to try slinging it across her mine cart. She slipped her arms under the surprisingly smooth segments and lifted the creature up, flopping it over the cart. It was surprisingly heavy, though she supposed a creature that packed with muscle would be. Once she had it... relatively stable (with the help of some rope), she began tugging it toward the entrance of the mines, ready to drop it off at home.
(Fiera drops off the tunnel worm and gem wyrm at home and returns to the mines.)

Was a kitten an absolutely terrible thing to bring to the deep, dark, dangerous expanses of the labs city mines? Yeah, probably. Did Fiera care? Not too much. The humanish had a blisteringly high sense of self confidence to the dismay of many, and as a result she seemed convinced that this was an idea most fantastic. In her mind, tailypo kits were pretty helpless anyway, so it wasn’t like she would be able to get far. All she had to do was keep the baby in the mining cart with the rocks (which she was PRETTY SURE she wasn’t dumb enough to eat. Probably. Pretty sure.) and they would be fine, having a lovely bonding trip together in the depths of the earth. What could possibly go wrong? Quite a lot in fact, but that was hardly enough to dissuade the humanish from her dogged attempts at earning money and gems. Fiera 6 Snowdrop 0.1/2.1 1

The tailypo she had brought however was a kitten of the moondust breed. Even in the dim light of the surrounding lanterns her fur shimmered like moonlight, a paler form of the iridescence witchcraft tailypo were so well known for. On moondust tailypo it frequently went ignored or unseen in favor of their more obvious physical traits. First and foremost were the floppy ears. On Snowdrop they were often too big, flopping over her eyes and causing her to have to shake her head to clear them every couple of minutes. And then there was the bobbled tails, sticking out in tufts to either side of her haunches. In regular felines either of these traits (along with her white fur and blue eyes) may have been signs of wretched genetic problems that would spell disaster for the average house cat, but on tailypo they seemed to cause Snowdrop no problems.

Except for the awkward floppy ears (which Fiera was sure she would grow into), Snowdrop’s unusual body gave her no problems. She was just as playful and eager as any other tailypo kitten and easily kept up with Fiera’s clowder’s games. This day out together was meant to be a special treat for the pair of them, an instance of specialized attention on Snowdrop alone. Hopefully they’d be able to grow closer as owner and pet as a result, or failing that, at least get Snowdrop better socialized. She was tired of all these tailypo trying to chew her fingers off when they were “playing”. Babies or not, those teeth hurt. Not to mention Fiera knew that as tailypo got older, they got less and less sociable toward the people who owned them, despite how gregarious they were as kittens. Or at least, that’s what she had heard.
