It tilted it's head and leaned forward a little, sniffing at the air. It smelled a gem, which smelled good, it hadn't eaten for awhile. It took another step forward and rumbled deeply as it stared at the stone, but it didn't want to take it until it was out of her hands.

Fiera kept holding it out, but the creature didn't seem to want to come any closer. Ah, that was a shame. She was REALLY hoping she didn't have to lose any gems today but... gaining this creature's trust would be much better. Her biggest worry was that she wouldn't actually have enough gems on her to feed it. She set it on the floor, so the gem dragon could see it, and then gently flicked it over in an attempt to move as little as possible. It bounced away, end over end, before eventually rolling to a stop about halfway between her and the dragon. "Come on..." She whispered to herself more than anything. "I'm not gonna eat you." She looked at her sandwich, realizing that she should probably throw it over there too as an option... but it seemed to be mostly interested in the gemstone she tossed over.

The dragon watched and flinched when the stone was flicked over, but it's curiosity was peaked. Plus... It was hungry, and it crept forward to the gem and licked it, aware of where the woman was at all times. Slowly it crept forward a bit more and put the stone in it's mouth before just sitting there, staring, with the stone dangling.

Fiera didn't make a move closer... but she DID get the other gem out of her pocket, the lustrous dark red one. She really wanted to save this one, as it was the first one she managed to mine herself, but she knew it would be worth it to have a gem dragon instead. She didn't flick this one at the creatyre, but instead reached her arm out and set it down about 2 feet in front of her. Then, she settled down and looked the other way. Staring at the poor creature would probably intimidate it further, so instead she decided to look as if she wasn't paying attention at all. She was even prepared to whistle a jaunty tune if it should come to that. It looked like this was working so far- the creature had scampered halfway down the cave, and picked up the gem in its mouth. She hoped she could keep it going.

Oh, another one? It tilted it's head for a moment and then trotted forward a little braver than before to sniff at the stone, the other stone still in it's mouth at the time. Reaching the red stone, it sniffed at it a little before sitting down next to it. Then it leaned forward and sniffed at the woman a little, considering she now posed no threat.

She had to restrain herself as the gem dragon trotted even closer- every part of her body wanted to try touching it, but consciously she knew better than that. It was a wild animal- any wrong action could make it bolt. Or even worse, try to bite her. It sniffed at her red gem, but didn't drop the pink one it was already holding. Had it bitten off more than it would chew? Would it try to fit both in its mouth, or drop the first one? But no- it just sniffed at it quietly. Fiera wrapped her tail even tighter around Viridia- now was not the time for the gem wyrm to suddenly make an appearance. Then, the gem dragon moved even closer- sniffing at her! Slowly but surely, she offered her hand- not grabbing or pointing any claws, but just offering the back of her hand for it to sniff.

Quietly it sniffed at the hand after blanching backwards for a moment, then nibbled at her hand just a moment. It was testing her, it seemed, and the dragon liked what it saw. It dropped the pink stone at the woman's feet and then nudged the red on forward before nibbling at her hand again. A rumbling sound came from it's throat and, tentatively, it rubbed it's head against her hand. [Congratulations, you've tamed the gem dragon!] A miniature tunnel worm came down the tunnel after the dragon, as though chasing an old scent, but stopped when it saw the spectacle before it.

It touched her. Fiera could have cried as it shoved its head under her hand- not that she'd ever admit it to anyone else. She was VERY glad that she was alone in the tunnels right now- if anyone saw her this vulnerable, she'd probably have to kill them to defend her dignity. As she invited it to sniff around her, she scooped up the gemstones again (Thank goodness she didn't actually lose those) with her sandwich, and let her tail deflate. Viridia and the gem dragon sniffed at each other cautiously- potential birds of a feather, they were. Just then though, another noise came down the tunnel. Crap! Had she been seen after all? Her tail puffed all the way back up again in embarrassment, covering her pets again. As the creature came closer though, she realized that it definitely WASN'T a person, but instead a large...dog size worm. Ah. Well, the more the merrier! ...So long as she didn't get eaten. She hunkered down again, letting it approach at its own speed. She was still holding the gemstones and sandwich- if it was interested in either of those, it had likely already caught their scent.

It reared back for a moment as it had time to process what was going on after a moment, and then it stared at them. It wasn't sure what to do, but it thought it smelled food, and it slithered forward to sniff at the sandwich, wondering what exactly it was.

Fiera watched as the worm wound its way closer, its slick body effortlessly passing over the rough earth and closing the distance between the two of them. She really hoped it was the sandwich it was interested in, and not her or her gem familiars. Neither of them were trained, and her combat experience was... rusty at best. The gem dragon seemed tame to start with but this thing made her a little nervous. An alien body plan, large teeth, and a multitude of glowing red eyes- were those eyes?- made it more than a little intimidating. The sandwich however, was the best BLT hands could craft, assembled just this morning in her kitchen. She supposed the critter COULD be interested in the bread, lettuce, or tomato, but she figured something with teeth like that living all the way down here was probably focusing on the bacon more than anything else. She held it out as far as possible, making sure she wasn't making any sudden movements.

The worm sniffed at the sandwich and then hissed a little out of it's gaping mouth as it sniffed at it a little bit more. It wasn't sure what to think of it, but it smelled good and it attempted to knock it out of her hand and onto the ground where it could investigate it a little more.

The worm continued to approach, cautious in its movements. There was a strange grace to it, alien as it was. Every movement was quick and deliberate, almost like a robot, but the paths it chose were too organic for it to not be a real creature. Its eyes didn't blink, but the spark of life was still there in them. Soon it came so close it could touch the sandwich in her hand if it wanted to. It opened its mouth wider as it breathed in and out rapidly. Was it... sniffing it? Fiera wondered. It still seemed interested, but she didn't dare let go of it in case it was more interested in her hand instead. Instead, she poked a piece of bacon out of one side of the sandwich, leaving it hanging tantalizingly over the side of the bread. Hopefully that would be enough to convince it to eat out of her hand.

A hiss escaped it as it failed in knocking the sandwich out of her hand, but it snatched up the bacon from it and slithered back just a little bit. It was hungry, and this tasted pretty good, it was so used to rocks that things were going well and all that. Leaning forward, it sniffed again to see if there was anything else left.

Fiera's hand trembled as she held out the sandwich, unsure what this creature's next move would be. It came closer, slithering along the ground, sniffing some more. She almost flinched as it reach out, but after a moment she realized that all of her fingers were indeed still attached. She then looked at the sandwich, and realized. The worm took the bacon! Fiera sighed with relief and renewed confidence as the worm chewed on it thoughtfully. While it was distracted, she opened the sandwich- eating a lettuce and tomato sandwich later would be kind of gross, but she could deal with it. Thankfully, there were still a couple strips left. She peeled one off and held it out. She felt a little braver this time, and put it in the palm of her hand. Whoever said you weren't supposed to feed wild animals clearly wasn't looking in the right places.

The worm finished the piece of bacon and then snagged another piece from her hand, nipping at her fingers a little bit as it took the next piece. As it chewed, it watched her, and then swallowed and coiled around her arm, looking for more food.
[Congratulations, you've tamed the worm!]
