Yeah, he definitely didn’t like that. Once again, Donner began thrashing around, rolling over and lashing out with his legs, anything to push Fiera off. The humanish didn’t back away though, but instead held her ground, waiting for the seeker to wear himself out. In a few minutes that was exactly what happened, though whether it was because he was getting used to her or just because he was getting tired faster, she couldn’t tell. Still, once he was on the ground and panting Fiera took the time to touch his body, sifting through his fur and lifting his legs and tail, as if investigating his body, as opposed to skipping straight to a treat like last time. To Donner’s credit though, he didn’t hiss… as much. When she was finally done she set his limbs down and turned back to the cooler, selecting another reward for her pet’s… decent behavior.

Despite how tired he was acting, Donner ate up that treat just as fast as the others, and was soon laying on his belly again, paws neatly crossed as he glared at Fiera. “Okay… good boy, Donner. Let’s try this again.” Fiera said, and reached out for him once more. Donner growled again and leaned away but thankfully didn’t lash out at her again. It looked like he had either gotten over his temper tantrums or realized that they weren’t working as well as he would have liked. Even though he leaned away, Fiera’s hands were able to make contact with Donner’s body, moving his limbs and carding through his fur like before. She couldn’t help but note that he was still incredibly tense however, as if waiting for things to get worse… or perhaps waiting for Fiera to show a sign of weakness. The humanish scoffed to herself. “Fat chance of that.” She said, flipping her hair.

Still, a successful act of tolerance was the name of the game, so Fiera praised her snowstalker seeker and tossed him another chunk of meat. She might as well have been tossing them into a black hole for how fast and completely they were devoured. Still, she gave him a minute after that in the hopes that he would relax more. Instead of trying to touch him right off the bat, she just sat near him, within striking range. To her surprise, he didn’t take the opportunity to try and get at her again. Instead, he just… sat with her as well. It was almost nice, if it weren’t for the fact that she knew things would probably be different if he wasn’t wearing that amulet of submission. Still, it was nice to pretend. After a few minutes of relaxation for the pair of them, Fiera leaned over again, ready to try giving him another pat on the back.

This time, he actually seemed quite a bit calmer. Had giving him some time and space worked? Fiera wasn’t sure, but at least his muscles weren’t rock hard under his fur this time. The seeker still kept a close eye on his humanish owner, but didn’t seem ready to kick her off at a moment’s notice anymore. Fiera found that she was even able to slide his foot coverings off, check his toes, and slide them back on without Donner trying to take the opportunity to rip her face off with them- though he did flex his toes for good measure. “Yeah, ok, you can have that.” Fiera said, rolling her eyes. Showing off the goods was fine so long as he didn’t use them. “Okay, good boy Donner!” Fiera said, moving back over to the cooler of treats. She was amazed that that had gone so well- had he really realized she wasn’t going to hurt him?

Another go round after Fiera fed him another treat proved that yes indeed, Donner was now calmer. He didn’t LIKE being touched, that much was clear from the glares he kept shooting her, but he did… well, tolerate her. As Fiera finished messing up his fur for the billionth time, she sat back on her haunches. She couldn’t expect him to like her this early in, but acceptance? That she could work with. With that in mind, the humanish stood up and walked over to the treats cooler, tossing her pet several meat chunks in quick succession. “There you go, Donner. You’ve earned it!” She said, and she did mean it. It probably took a lot for a creature like a seeker to show any level of trust… but now that she had it, they could get a lot more done. With any luck, this would be quite a productive day of training.

Now that Donner had learned to accept being touched, Fiera could move on to some other trick. She paced around for a moment, attempting to decide on which one to teach. She couldn’t help but notice during his training so far that while he wasn’t prone to lashing out at HER quite as much now, he didn’t really have any sense of obedience. If she gave him an order, there was no guarantee that he’d obey it, especially once it came to food. That would have to change. Knowing that, Fiera decided that she had his next trick- “no”. A relatively easy and basic trick for most pets, she had the feeling it might be trickier to teach to such a bull-headed creature as Donner. And yet, when could Fiera ever turn down a challenge? She chuckled and cracked her knuckles, even if the latter action… didn’t actually have any use in this situation. It just kind of sounded gross.

Donner was a very aggressive beast, to say the least. This wasn’t going to be easy. Thankfully however, he was leashed to a pole stuck deep in the ground, such that he couldn’t pull it out… so far. As a result, she could keep her distance easily. With that in mind, she checked her current stores of meat. The seeker perked up as she opened the cooler. Yes indeed, she still had plenty left. She waggled her fingers above the surface for a moment before diving in, pulling out a half frozen strip of murp for the seeker. She heard an excited growl behind her, a deep and bassy tone. He wasn’t eager for it in the way that a houluh was, all sugar and niceties, but instead would be more than happy to take her fingers with it. Well, he would have to learn a little respect before he got it.

She set the strip of the meat on the ground in front of the seeker. “Donner, n-” She started out saying, but before she could even finish her statement, the snowstalker seeker lunged at the humanism, snapping wildly at the food she had placed before him. Luckily however, she did her math right, and his caged muzzle snapped shut mere inches away from the meat. “Donner, NO!” Fiera finally managed to get out, trying her best to put a dangerous tone in her voice. The seeker backed away, but only momentarily before he lashed out again, swiping his claws at Fiera desperately. No matter what he did though, it didn’t work. Both the metal lead and the pole held fast, keeping Fiera just out of harm’s reach. Donner might as well have been a small child throwing a temper tantrum for all that his actions were accomplishing, just swiping out at thin air and making horrible noises.

After several minutes, the seeker finally seemed to calm down, though it may well have been out of exhaustion as opposed to obedience. He sunk to the ground, panting and dipping his head into the nearby water dish she had set out for him. (He didn’t want him getting dehydrated out here, after all. Fiera had a bad reputation, but she wasn’t THAT cruel.) Now that he had calmed down and wasn’t trying to get at the meat anymore however, Fiera could afford to give him a treat. “That’s it, Donner!” She said, her tone of voice cheery again. “Good no!” She said, and tossed the strip of meat closer to him again. The seeker paused for a moment, as if surprised, and then dove down to claim his prize while Fiera got out another piece of meat. He eyed that one carefully as well and growled, but seemed calmer this time.

“Donner, no.” Fiera said, and while Donner seemed to pause for a moment, considering her word, he soon disregarded it and made a few test snaps and bites to see if he could get at it. He couldn’t, of course, and soon sat back on his haunches and huffed loudly in defeat. “Good boy, Donner! Good no!” Fiera said again, scooting the meat over to him again. He took it just as quickly as the last one, but at least seemed more focused this time. Fiera decided to try again with one last test, just to make sure. “Okay Donner.” She said, holding up another piece of meat and pointing at it. “No.” She said, and set it in front of him. He actually COULD get at this one if he wanted to… but to her delight, he just stared at it intently, a soft grumble in his throat. She could live with that! “Atta boy, Donner! Good j- oh you already ate it. Mm, well. At least you waited until I said atta boy. Good enough.”

With “no” out of the way, Fiera decided to try something else to make Donner a little more… obedient. Or maybe just “presentable”. She didn’t think she could get something this vicious to ever listen to her fully, after all, but damn if she was going to make HERSELF look bad. Still, Donner was pretty new to this stuff still, so how about something simple, something like… sit. She could manage sit. “Okay Donner, ready?” She said, scooting the cooler of meat just a little bit closer to him. The snowstalker seeker sat up just a little bit straighter at the sight of it, clearly intrigued if not outright excited. He seemed to be getting the idea of “training” and “tricks” by now, even if he wasn’t particularly happy to obey Fiera. Still, she was satisfied with him at least being willing to hear her out. With that in mind, she picked up a piece of meat.

Then, she walked over to her seeker. “Okay, Donner. Let’s get this over with, eh?” The seeker kept his eyes trained on the meat but still growled some more before backing away slowly. There was only so far he could go before Fiera caught up with him, however. “Come on, let’s not be difficult about this…” The humanish said before finally getting to him. She reached her hands out and eventually managed to make contact with soft fur. He was surprisingly smooth and soft despite his sharp personality, but he froze when she touched him. “Okay now… sit, Donner!” She said, pushing downward. With any luck, the pressure on his hindquarters would force him to sit down, at which point she’d give him a treat. He wasn’t going down easily though, resisting Fiera as she put more and more force on him. Eventually she just had to put her entire weight on the seeker’s hips.
Post by Fiera Ferella on Dec 8, 2020 20:31:53 GMT -6
She hoped that that would work, and even though Donner was resistant at first, eventually Fiera proved too heavy for him. He slowly but surely sunk to the ground, letting out a loud, irritated huff as he finally plunked down. “There we go!” Fiera said, delighted. “Good sit, Donner!” She said, and with her other hand she tossed him the chunk of meat she had been holding. He ate it eagerly, pulling it through the mesh of his muzzle and swallowing it down without chewing. Even if the sight was a little gross for her, at least it didn’t last long. As he ate, Fiera let the seeker stand back up again, taking a few steps back as he got his own footing. When he was done though, she was ready to get back to it. She stepped to him and put her hand on his hips again, pressing down. “Sit, Donner! Come on!”
Post by Fiera Ferella on Dec 8, 2020 20:32:07 GMT -6
She encouraged him, but it didn’t seem to have much of an effect on his general demeanor. Still, he seemed to realize on some level that he wasn’t winning this one, and slowly sunk down to the ground, shooting Fiera a dirty look the whole time. “Great job, Donner!” She said, giving her hands a sharp clap before tossing the seeker another pound of flesh. He leapt at it eagerly, bringing him out of his sitting position. Good. Sometimes Fiera’s more stubborn pets would just refuse to get up again once she gave the command, preventing her from resetting and trying the trick over again. She could work around it, but… it was annoying. As Donner finished eating however, she knew that wouldn’t be a problem here. “Alright then. Ready, Donner? And… sit.” She commanded, coming at her snowstalker with an outstretched hand. He tried backing away, but then, to Fiera’s delight… he sat.
Post by Fiera Ferella on Dec 8, 2020 20:32:21 GMT -6
All on his own! It was awfully hesitant, but he did indeed go into a sitting position of his own volition. “...Good sit, Donner!” Fiera said, almost forgetting to give him verbal praise and a treat in return for his good behavior, shocked as she was. Still, it took her mere moments to toss him another chunk of meat, which he ate just as fast as the rest. With that out of the way, Fiera decided to try the trick one more time. “So… sit, Donner!” She said, and with only a small huff of disapproval, the seeker obeyed. Fiera let out a squeal of delight and approval at his immediate obedience. He might not like it… but at least the humanish now knew she could trust him. To a degree, at least. They had a lot more work to do together, but at least now Fiera knew that he could be reasonable.
Kristofor: But I'd have to discuss with the staff once I've got the place up and running. Presently its in the 'put it on paper' phase.

Kristofor: It really would. Could rent out the accessories for the duration of one contest...
Mar 7, 2021 14:11:09 GMT -6
Xentus: it would be cool if getting pets groomed at the salon gave some kinda grooming bonus in contests ;3
Mar 7, 2021 13:52:28 GMT -6
Kristofor: But once I have the supplies, more elementally tuned animals can be groomed. I treat my inner idea of a salon like a leveling system; learn more about the animals (including those who light on element-here) the more experience gained.

Flare: Well, it takes money to afford a fire extinguisher, or sprinklers, or a garden hose Riku. and that'll take some business to earn.

Riku: I’m a bit bummed my flame-body pets aren’t allowed, jk. Otherwise it looks like a great idea! <3 I like that it provides more services as it levels.

Kristofor: I started up a layout idea on the salon. If you know any groomers, can you tell me if that looks like a decent list of services to offer? What would your character/you want to see.
