Fiera was back to training Tenmei, but not at the docks like before. Since the last time she trained the tat-lung, she had grown up quite a bit and now looked like a more representative member of her species, with fine indigo scales and fluffy blue fur. The had developed a bit of an attitude too- haughty and appreciative of the finer things in life. As she sipped out of a water bottle while wearing a pair of sunglasses that could pay an inner city child's tuition, Fiera wondered where she could have possibly gotten it from. Oh well. She had better things to do- like making sure that Tenmei could handle herself in the upcoming agility run contest. She didn't want either of them to look bad after all, so she had a new list of tricks, abilities, and moves she was going to try and get to today with Tenmei. Fiera 1 Tenmei 9.1/11.1 Run 1

To Fiera's relief, the tat-lung had maintained her preference for more plain food as opposed to the gemstones that her brethren preferred, though that might have been because Fiera was avoiding SHOWING her any gemstones. Still, it certainly let Fiera save some money in her 'treat' budget. She also brought... an RC car. Frankly, Fiera couldn't run that fast, and she'd need some extra speed to teach Tenmei 'run', so this would have to do for now. Speaking of teaching her run though, Fiera walked up to the tat-lung, holding up a fish. The dragon immediately perked up at the sight of it and seemed to sit up straighter. "You want it?" Fiera said, holding it over her head. Tenmei lunged out to grab it, but her teeth snapped shut on empty air alone. "Ah ah ah!" Fiera said, pulling it away. "You've got to run for it!" Fiera said, backing away.

The tat-lung narrowed her eyes at Fiera and began prowling toward her, eyes trained on the fish. Fiera took that as a sign that she should give the command and start running. "Okay Tenmei- run!" Fiera shouted before bolting away from her tat-lung, who didn't appreciate being teased. Glances over her shoulder told Fiera that Tenmei wasn't doing a great job of catching up at first. In fact, her long body made her sort of ungainly and unsuited to running starting out. She quickly began picking up the pace though, and soon Fiera could hear the tat-lung huffing at her heels. "Okay! Good run, Tenmei!" Fiera said, spinning around. She didn't want to get tackled, so it was probably best to cut this off now. She tossed the tat-lung the fish and held her hands up in a 'I give up' gesture before turning back to her cooler full of treats while Tenmei ate.

As the tat-lung chomped away at her treat, Fiera quickly got out another fish and threw it in the back of an RC car, meant to look like a construction vehicle. Because kids liked those, she guessed. She had tested it out beforehand though and this thing really zipped along while the bucket in the back made sure that the fish didn't go flying out halfway through the run. She switched everything on and watched as Tenmei walked over, sniffing out the next fish. "You ready, Tenmei?" She said, and the tat-lung gave her a withering look as she realized that this fish would be equally hard to get. "Run!" Fiera said, and pressed forward on the controls for the RC car while hoping that Tenmei wouldn't figure out that she was controlling it. The tat-lung rolled her eyes and watched as the car sped off. Fiera thought at first that she wouldn't follow, but soon the tat-lung was up and after it.

Fiera watched as the kinks in Tenmei's running technique slowly worked themselves out as she ran. She had been used to swimming in water for so many months- getting some practice with the new limbs was just what she needed. Soon she caught up with the RC car, and Fiera called out a "Good run!" As she ate. Fiera kept repeating with that, and soon Tenmei was outrunning the RC car as well, but at least by that point she understood the command well enough. Every time Fiera said the word "run" Tenmei would make a lap or two around the field they were in before trotting back over to Fiera, blinking expectantly for another treat (which Fiera would happily supply). After many, many repetitions of this, they collapsed in a pile together, satisfied with their progress. Fiera got to teach her pet another trick, and Tenmei got a lot to eat. It was win-win.

The next trick was... fly. Hoo boy, this was probably going to be hard. Fiera had had successes with teaching her pets to fly before, but to be fair those ones had all had... wings. Tenmei was a fair bit more flightless LOOKING than those pets, that was for sure. She had seen tat-lung fly before though (well, in online videos.) and it seemed pretty instinctual for them, consisting of undulating loops through the air. To try and encourage this without forcing Tenmei to climb anything, Fiera travelled the length of the park until she finally found a rocky outcropping, a cliff face over another part of the park with a gentle ramp leading back up to the top. It wouldn't be too hard to get Tenmei to climb to the top and glide back down, and the cliff itself was only about fifteen feet tall, so it probably wouldn't break anything if she didn't figure it out right away.

Fiera gave Tenmei a quick 'stay' as they approached the top of the cliff, and then skirted around the side until she was at the bottom, about ten feet out. She held her arms open for Tenmei to fly into. The impact would probably knock the wind right out of her, but luckily lapis tat-lung were among the smallest of their species, and it wouldn't hurt Fiera or Tenmei. It would just knock the wind out of her. "Okay Tenmei... fly!" She said, waiting for a response. When none came and Tenmei just tilted her head, Fiera held up a fish as well. "Come on, fly!" She said, throwing in the 'come' command that they both knew Tenmei knew. Tenmei looked off the edge of the cliff face... and scrambled awkwardly down the side. "No no, uh... jump! Come! Fly!" Fiera said, trying out some other commands that her pet knew.

That merely confused Tenmei and in her attempt to do what Fiera asked for, she tried jumping off the side of the cliff face halfway down and managed to half glide, half tumble to the ground at Fiera's feet before looking up at her owner pathetically. "...Good job! Good fly!" Fiera said, trying not to cringe on her pet's behalf, and dropped the fish down there for her to eat. After that, she led the tat-lung back up to the top of the cliff and asked her quite emphatically to stay before going back down. When she got to the bottom, she stood there with her arms out again before gesturing to herself. "Okay Tenmei- fly! Jump!" She said, and backed up a bit. Tenmei glared at her for a moment before bunching up and launching off. To her and Fiera's surprise though, she drifted instead of just falling this time.

Tenmei crashed into Fiera inelegantly, but Fiera was thrilled regardless. She was starting to get the hang of this! "Good fly, Tenmei!" Fiera said, handing her another fish. Tenmei grabbed it happily, but soon raced back up to the top of the hill without Fiera's input. She was just as excited to see where this was going as Fiera was! Once she was 'reloaded' so to speak, Fiera stood a bit further away than before at the bottom of the cliff face. "Okay Tenmei, fly!" Fiera said, dropping the other commands. Tenmei leapt off again and this time her descent was even slower. She even leaned back and forth a couple times, bending off in either direction to test it out before course correcting back to Fiera. Instead of crashing into her this time though, she landed with only a small stumble in front of the humanish. Fiera couldn't contain her glee, and gave her heaps of praise and fish.

Fiera didn't have to waste any time as Tenmei ran to start the trick over again, and barely had time to give the command 'fly' before Tenmei leaped off of her own accord. It was clear that Fiera had tapped into something instinctual and thrilling here, and she was more than happy to take a step back as Tenmei enjoyed herself. Sure enough, the tat-lung launched herself off of the cliff again, but this time didn't even aim for Fiera. Instead, she more enthusiastically dipped into the turns and rolls that she had tried out last time, and as she neared the ground Tenmei 'pulled up', sending her soaring toward the sky again. The tat-lung seemed surprised for a moment that that even worked, looking around in surprise. As a result, her flight faltered for a moment and she began to fall back toward the ground, but managed to pull out of it and dip in bends and loops above Fiera's head. Frankly, that was all Fiera wanted to see- from here, she was more than happy to just watch.

It had been a long, long time since Fiera had worked with Algol, her sarane drake. In fact, she had left him alone for the most part since his breaking. The process had been highly unpleasant for both of them. Fiera had quite a few new bruises, and the experience had been absolutely humiliating for Algol. Which was the point, of course- getting the sarane to stop trying to be 'the boss' and accept their trainer's dominance enough to obey them again. But needless to say they hadn't gotten along for a while there. Now was different though. Algol had had some time to cool off, and Fiera had spent some time training other pets, getting them up to speed on tricks and whatnot. Now that Algol was feeling friendlier with her, Fiera could afford to start teaching him how to fight- the goal of any owner of drake sarane. Fiera 1 Algol 23.1/23.1 Danger Sense 1

And the first step in the journey of training any battle ready pet- danger sense. It was a hard trick to teach, Fiera had to admit that. No pet LIKED learning it either. A pet that knew danger sense would be able to predict incoming attacks. Usually, they'd be able to make blows glance off if not outright avoid them completely as they flew right by. It usually only worked for the first few seconds of battle as their opponent got into the groove, but considering how fast these battles went that was usually all it took. As it stood Algol had the ferocity for a fight, but not that sense of nimbleness and quick thinking. Fiera would have to teach that to him- one way or another. Hopefully he wouldn't try to eat her for trying. He might respect her now, but that didn't mean he liked being trained or manhandled.

This ability wasn't exactly pleasant to teach either. Fiera had guided her ferocious lump of a sarane into the center of a clearing surrounded on all sides by closely packed trees and thick foliage. It would be hard for the sarane to push his way through that, so hopefully he would stay in the center of the clearing where she wanted him to be. Then, Fiera could sneak through the bushes on either side, out of sight and hopefully silent with her natural sense of feline grace. As the clearing was circular, he'd have no easy way to guess which direction the attacks would be coming from. Fiera wasn't going to hit him too hard, to be fair. She didn't have anything that would hurt too much- just a slingshot and a ton of pebbles that she could use to launch at him. That being said, the annoying nature of the blows would hopefully be enough for him to learn the trick.

Fiera also had a cooler filled with chunks of meat, along with a smaller, portable one that she could clip to her belt loops. It was a bit of a gross and gory sight, but it worked to let her have access to treats for Algol on the go. He loved his pounds of flesh, after all. Fiera loaded the mini cooler up while Algol got situated in the clearing, glad that he couldn't smell it from where he was. When that was done, Fiera grabbed her slingshot and bag of rocks before sneaking off beyond the treeline while Algol was otherwise occupied. She settled down as the sarane looked around, suddenly realizing that his owner was missing. Ordinarily this was when he would try to wander off and get into trouble, but Fiera wasn't about to give him the opportunity. She lifted up the slingshot and grabbed a rock from the bag.

She lined it up carefully, pulling the sling back and adjusting the stone in its saddle. When she was sure it was aimed correctly, Fiera let loose. The rock zipped through the air, landing a direct hit on Algol's flank. The sarane whipped around, snarling, but couldn't see the source of the attack. Not wanting him to find out though, Fiera quickly scampered away from her current position. She ran about a dozen or so feet around the edge of the circle. When Algol ran over and stuck his head in the bushes to search for whoever threw that stone, Fiera was already long gone- and lining up another shot. She couldn't help but smirk a bit at it. It was impossible for these stones to really hurt him- they were just annoying. So as far as she was concerned, it was retribution for all the times he bit her as a baby.
