And then, there was a small squeak from the bushes off to the side. The humanish tried not to sprint as she ran over to them. "Serendipity?" She called hesitantly, looking around the base of the bushes. Sure enough, there was her pet, gnawing on some leaves. Fiera sighed with relief. She supposed that it made sense that her pet might try to leave the water at some point. After all, unlike some other aquatic creatures, Serendipity didn't need to breathe water, and she wasn't really heavy enough yet for hauling herself up on land to hurt her. Instead, she could make her way across the grass... slowly but surely. It was easy enough for her to move around in this terrain, but she couldn't get far if Fiera was paying attention to her. "Okay let's... get you back in the water." Fiera said, gently picking the tiny creature up.

But before she could do so, the wind began picking up. Fiera's ears flicked up as her hair began getting whipped around. Serendipity cuddled up to her, her damp body surely making her cold. "Uh..." Fiera said quietly. She glanced back at the pond. Something was... different about it. Changing? It looked all of a sudden like an oil slick had been placed upon the surface. It swirled faster and faster, until the pond was a mess of rainbow colors. The wind blew faster and faster, and the leaves began stripping from the trees. Fiera wondered if perhaps a storm had blown in, one stronger than the mansion's borders could resist, but when the bark began flying off too, she finally realized what she was looking at. She and her pet had stayed there far too long- and now the month was changing. Fiera swore under her breath and snagged her bag as she sprinted for the gate.

Sure April wasn't the WORST phase of the mansion to be stuck in, but she wasn't going to be taking her chances with it. Especially not when she was caught in the middle of the change and holding a baby sea monster that needed water to stay healthy and comfortable... and she was NOT about to set Serendipity down in that oilslick puddle she saw earlier. A vast creaking noise sounded behind her as the mansion warped and warbled to change to its new form, but she wasn't about to turn her head and look. After all, who knew if the gate would still be there if she turned back. Still, so long as she never let it leave her line of site the gate didn't move, and after a few more desperate strides she finally reached it, shoving her way out of the mansion grounds and back into the real world. Fiera 5 Serendipity 4.0/4.0 April 3? ? (Fiera takes her findings and leaves the mansion.)

Summer was at its scintillating peak, and Fiera wanted to take advantage of it while she still could. The sun beat overhead, but the breezes whipping through the mansion grounds were more than enough to keep things cool. The humanish padded through thick white sands, with pale blue water lapping gently on either side of the beaten path. The mansion ahead was a massive, looming structure, a hodgepodge of driftwood and broken glass. Honestly, Fiera wanted nothing to do with it. It creaked ominously in the wind, tilting to either side as if threatening to collapse entirely. She had been in it a couple times while it was in this state, and she always felt like she came away with more splinters than items of interest. Sometimes she'd brave it anyway for the sake of finding something interesting, but not this time- she had an additional passenger to worry about.

Serendipity had been to the mansion before, but in much gentler circumstances back in the previous year's spring. She played in the soft pools brought by spring rain, but didn't have much room to actually swim around, and mostly played with whatever little toys Fiera could find for her. This month though, she had much more room to roam... though Fiera now saw that her bravery only went as far as she could keep her grand journeys theoretical. She was happy to push the borders of Fiera's patience when it came to a single small pool. Now she had as much water as she could possibly dream of, and could race off into the horizon leaving Fiera in the dust. In theory, at least- the little fossil creature wasn't actually particularly fast and her pace could be considered more "splashing" than "swimming". She was young, they would work on it.

But now that Serendipity had all the room she could possibly want Fiera found the little creature actually sticking quite close to her. Occasionally she would swim off in a larger, faster loop, or stop to look at a shell embedded in the sand beneath her, but overall she swam along in Fiera's shadow. The humanish found this amusing- she was quick to pretend to be brave, but most creatures this young didn't actually have the guts to go through with it when push came to shove. Fiera supposed she could hardly blame her though- this was a big, scary world they were all trapped in. Still, she had every intention of keep Serendipity towards the safer parts of the mansion this month. If she had one of her tougher pets with her she would see about braving the more dangerous areas, but Serendipity could barely swim, let alone outpace a strong current.

But thankfully, it was only the main body of the mansion that looked like a deathtrap- today, at least. If a big storm started up she could always leave, but for now Fiera was taking her chances in the beach-ier areas of the mansion grounds. She glanced around herself- the area around herself reminded her of sandbars, dunes of sand normally making up the sea floor but became strips of sand by the tide. She was sure that if she actually reached the mansion the water would rise to cover them, but so long as she stayed away they would probably be fine. Between the sandbars was bright, turquoise blue water, crystal clear so she could see straight to the bottom... not that that was very far. The deepest point in any of these pools only seemed to be about five feet down at most. She dipped a finger into the water.

It was warm as bathwater. She snatched her finger out before Serendipity could bite it, shaking a few stray drops off as the little creature attempted to jump up to "catch" her. When that didn't work, she lashed out and gnawed on Fiera's boot laces instead. "Yes, you're very cute." She said with a chuckle, gently tugging the laces out of the little creature's mouth. She glanced around the area. "Let's see if we can find something better to do, eh? Redirect all that restless energy." She said, and set out once more. Hopefully they'd be able to find something interesting to maintain Serendipity's attention- and keep her out of trouble. Sure enough, as Fiera rounded a particularly high sandbar, with Serendipity swimming around the side, she saw a lumpy shape in the distance, jutting out of the sand. Serendipity was far too short to see it from her perspective, but she looked up at Fiera inquisitively.

Fiera paused before the gate of the mansion. She had been here a million times it felt like, and yet… never during September for some reason. She wracked her brain, trying to think of a reason why, but she really couldn’t come up with anything other than “She just hadn’t gotten around to it”. Fiera supposed that was fair, she thought with a flick of her tail. She was a very busy woman who had a lot of irons in a lot of fires. But it didn’t help her right NOW- she had no clue what to expect from the mansion the moment she stepped through the gates. Sure, it looked like a normal, if slightly dilapidated building now, but she’d probably be thrown into some sort of fresh hell the moment she opened those cast iron gates. It had a habit of surprising her like that, and she wasn’t looking forward to being caught off guard yet again. Fiera 11 Penninah 0.1/2.1 1

Not to mention she had a sweet little entourage now. She glanced towards her heel where a vespa hatchling squidged along. It had taken ages to find a collar small enough to fit on Peninnah’s neck, and Fiera had to be careful to not accidentally drag her over simply by pulling the leash around. She was miniscule, is what she was saying. The young moonstone vespa hardly seemed to notice however and forged ahead bravely, albeit slowly by Fiera’s standards. The humanish realized she might have to carry the young grub for most of this, as pointy as her little legs were. Peninnah was admittedly a bit of an impulse buy- she had quite a few fighting pit points saved up and had wanted to spend them on something nice. She took a look at what the arena had to offer, and, well, she walked out with a pearlescent little grub in a pachee carrier.

Perhaps it wasn’t the best use of her points, but she hadn’t spent them on anything else and Peninnah WAS very cute. Now she had to take this impulse bought creature on a walk, and she would be damned if she came back from whatever they did empty handed. Fiera did want to get to know Peninnah, of course, but she had to make it worth her while. Unfortunately… she ade that decision while forgetting what month it was. August, Fiera could deal with, but September? Serpent’s Dawn? “Ughh… Maybe I should just go back.” Fiera said, looking down at Peninnah to get her opinion… only to find that the vespa had already crawled through the gaps in the gate, pushing her squishy body between the bars. “Wh- hey! Come back here!” Fiera said, just as Penninah found something on the ground that Fiera couldn’t see, pushing it around between her forelimbs.
