She looked up and down, and it didn't look like there was anything of interest... until she squinted right at the "ground". There was a slight discoloration there. It wasn't exactly a light, but it was getting closer. Wherever Fiera was, she was definitely on her way to somewhere else. She wasn't sinking toward it QUICKLY per se, but it was coming. With that in mind (and after trying and failing to 'swim' elsewhere), Fiera just took the opportunity to chill out and hold Orpheus for a bit. To her delight, he settled down and closed his eyes instead of freaking out further, and the two were able to just relax for a bit. As they drifted closer, Fiera realized that the discoloration looked like... trees? Branches? All she could see was leaves, which she found herself falling closer and closer to. Once she made contact with them, it was as if gravity took over.

And by 'gravity took over' Fiera meant that she fell normally through a series of branches. She was lucky that the branches broke her fall and that she landed on her butt and not on her alurook. Fiera groaned and sat up again, rubbing her back. That was going to hurt in the morning. She gently let Orpheus down, seeing as he was DEFINITELY not asleep after that. She looked around to see where they ended up- and realized that it was the same forest that they had walked in through. She turned around and sure enough, there was the front gate. Fiera sighed loudly. Sometimes she was done with the mansion... and sometimes the mansion was done with her. It looked to her that today, it was the latter case. Oh well- Orpheus seemed pretty done with this place anyway. She scooped up the alurook chick, holding him close to her chest. "Come on Orpheus." She said, pushing open the gate. "Let's go home."

Fiera had come once more to the eccentric's mansion, this time with a young houluh in tow. Skyler was a recent acquisition of hers, a trade from another houluh breeder. the pup seemed friendly enough but... strangely detached from everything. She acted as if everything was beneath her, or... perhaps not. Perhaps she just considered it beyond her in a way. At the very least, getting her here was near impossible with how often she zoned out and stared into the distance while on the leash. Fiera practically had to drag her. It was all very high and mighty and ethereal sounding in description, but really it was proving to be a major pain in Fiera's patoot. Still, she was hoping that this trip to the mansion could build more of a bond between the two of them, help them get to know each other in a more intimate fashion.

The mansion's weather was at least pleasant this month. The air had grown increasingly hot over the past month, and Fiera now found herself wearing shorts and t-shirts to try and beat the heat. The minute she managed to push through the mansion's gates however, the heat increased. On top of that though was a cool and silky breeze, leaving her neither too hot nor too cold at once. Skyler seemed to notice it too, sniffing the air some as they entered. "Oh, you like that?" Fiera said with a chuckle. If the houluh pup heard her however, she gave no sign of it and instead kept walking toward, pulling on the leash as if she had completely forgotten Fiera was there behind her. "Fine, or you can just ignore me." Fiera said with a begrudging sigh. They had a lot of work to do today, that was for sure.

The grass around them was medium length and lush, and Fiera could see what looked like fireflies dancing around in the distance. Fiera quirked an eyebrow at that- there had been plenty of 'stars' around last month, after all. And yet, Fiera could tell already just by the feeling in the air that this month was quite different from the last. The mansion was really loud, first of all. Even halfway down the path to it, Fiera could hear some sort of rhythmic pulsing, like the sound of far off music, and loud popping noises. It was easy to mistake them for gunshots (which Fiera was quite familiar with), but a trained ear told her that they were actually fireworks. Well, that sounded nice now that she thought of it. She had never been to a festival that involved fireworks in any detail, but she knew she thought they were quite pretty.

As she finally stepped up to the mansion, the gravel crunched under her feet. The mansion looked like an airy sort of building, resembling something out of the hotter parts of the world. It had a broad porch with a swing on one side and a small table on the other, with some sort of rickety chair sitting around it. Fiera checked them out briefly and found that they were wicker with soft cushions on them. They were nice she supposed... but as she heard another firework pop off in the distance, she decided that it would be best to keep her distance from materials like these. They were a massive fire hazard. Though the mansion was too right now, with it being made of so much would. Still, she had the feeling that the mansion knew better than to try and burn itself down with its own strange magic.

Skyler stayed monolithic as always, and Fiera was pretty sure that she could drop her leash right now and the houluh would never even notice. Instead she just stared off into the distance, back at the lawn and its dancing lights, as if entranced by them and ready to go join them. On second though... Fiera clutched her houluh's leash a little tighter. It was probably a bad idea to just let her run off on her own. Still, she did let a bit more of its length unspool so she could go check out the porch swing as well. It was a pretty standard member of its species, being wide and cushioned. It was designed to swing gently in the summer breezes instead of being tackled by children on a playground. Fiera glanced left and right and, upon not seeing anyone else, decided to give it a test sit.

It was... well, the swing was really lumpy now that she was adjusting herself on it. What was that? Fiera stood up for a moment, looking at the seat. It LOOKED fine, but it certainly didn't feel that way. Curiously, she peeled up a cushion and... ah. Yeah, there was the problem. The mansion loved throwing goodies at people to take home with them, but it always just HAD to put them in the most inconvenient spots possible. Fiera supposed she was asking for it, trying to sit down on a comfy looking seat like that. She sighed and began picking the items up, and a few of them started crawling as well. Ooh, great. Pocket pets. One of them actually started crackling now that it was partially revealed, a creature made of a dancing wisp of fire. Fiera grimaced and held her hand up by it- well, at least it wasn't hot.

She managed to usher the little creature into her bag despite it trying to wiggle away, and noticed even more movement under the cushion. Soon an orange butterfly emerged as well, flapping its wings gently. Fiera distantly remembered having one of these already, perhaps from an earlier trip to the mansion. It was a different color though, which made this one a welcome addition to her collection, so she added it to her bag as well. From there all she had to collect was a strange framed object full of dead bugs (which was actually quite pretty, not that she'd admit it to anyone who asked) and a bright blue sparkler that oddly didn't burn when she touched it, similar to the pocket pet. Instead when she gripped its top it went out, only to burst to light again when she released it. She raised an eyebrow, but still put it in her bag.

Sure enough, it went out as soon as she zipped up the bag (or she guessed it had as she was no longer able to hear the crackling noise it made as it put off sparks). She turned to go and sure enough, Skyler was exactly where she left her, staring off into the grass. Fiera supposed that it was a good thing to own a young pet that didn't seem to vanish the second she stopped paying attention to them for half a second. Still, it was a little unnerving. "...Come on, Skyler!" Fiera said as she tugged on the leash gently. Finally the houluh got up and walked over to her, easy does it. Fiera shrugged as she approached the front door, not wanting to put it off any longer. She grasped the handle and the front door opened with a belabored creaking sound and warm air rushed past the humanish's face.

She scootched Skyler in with one foot and closed the door behind her to find... a bonfire. Fiera blinked a couple times as the brightness of the flame practically seared her eyes. "Oof, that's bright." She grumbled while keeping a tight grip on her houluh's leash in case the dull little creature decided to wander directly into the fire. She kept her eyes closed for a moment while waiting for the swimming spots of brightness to disappear, watching as they moved around behind her eyelids. In the meantime, she used her other senses to explore the room. She couldn't hear much but the crackling of the flames, but the fire must be huge from that indicator. She could also smell the thick, hearty scent of burning wood and... something else. Something sweet. She supposed she'd find it when she opened her eyes. The floor beneath her didn't feel like soil though.

That at least, she could check now. She braced herself against the door, which was still definitely wood grain behind her... though she wondered if it would even open up to the mansion's front yard again if she tried to open it. When she opened her eyes fully, she found that the ground beneath her was regular planks of wood, despite the bonfire crackling away in front of her. She watched as a spark was spat out from the main body of the flames and skittered across the floor between her feet. It glowed for a moment like a hot coal before going out. Huh. She could definitely feel the heat on her face- this fire was a real one. But it looked like it was bound to its confines, a domesticated wildfire that couldn't burn any wood that the mansion didn't say it could. It was here only for people to look at.

Finally Fiera's vision managed to clear up enough that she could actually look at the rest of the room instead of just the floor beneath her. The fire did light the room up well, but it was so bright in comparison to the dark wood that the rest of the room was made of that she hadn't been able to see it at first while her eyes were still adjusting to the sudden change in light. Now she could see it clearly though, and it was... very out of place with the blaze in front of her. There was another door on the far side of the room, and a couple of wooden cabinets scattered around. There was even a grandfather clock pressed up in one corner, its soft ticking completely drowned out by the roaring of the fire. It was as if a hole was cut in the ground of a regular room and a flame slapped in there.
