Please note...- The last date to post your introduction post is the July 22nd. Without an introduction post you cannot battle. - Certain moves can't be used in the Pit because of the surroundings and other moves can affect more than one creature at the same time. After all introduction posts have been posted you will be informed whether those two apply to any of your creatures' moves. - That you have 3 days to post a response to a calculation post and/or roleplay post. The 3 day deadline is not extended if your foe posts after a calculation post. Not meeting the deadline results in an automatic disqualification. - That characters level once every 20 posts in the Fighting Pit, but pets gain levels and loyalty towards their owners normally.

So Renathan hadn't shown up, just like she had expected. That was alright though, Kro had an easy win, a vacation of sorts she thought, but then it was time to head back. She had a bad feeling about this fight, but she wasn't sure what to expect in the Pit with the Gug this time, but they could overcome. At least she hoped they could overcome. She sighed a little and let Kro into the arena before she headed up into the stands, patting him on the side before she left him alone. It was all good, they could get through all of this she figured, but they had to put up a good fight before it was all done. Jack wasn't sure what to expect with things, but that was alright, she just hoped they would have a fighting chance with this fight. She was nervous, they hadn't gone up against the other two Thundergugs yet, or that Tat-lung...

The scent took days to get out of the hair and clothes and mane. Which was to say, when the call came to return back into the arena the very next day after, it still clung to them. It wasn't a good smell. Ozone by itself would have been alright, perhaps even fairly pleasant if one was to think of it as recalling memories of rainfalls in the desert, those rare times to rejoice back then. But it also came with the stench of something charred and cooked, but not in a tasty way. Burnt flesh. Faint as it was, it was prevalent even after Darky changed her clothes only to realize it clung to her hair and fur just as much and she had to find all the herbs and spices she could in the kennel just to mix-up a potpourri bag strong enough to make her forget it was there. The tat-lung had the benefit of taking a dip in the pool to wash himself free of it, but even then, both knew it was still there somewhere.
At least the dried flowers helped mask it. As much as she didn't enjoy water, the sphinx figured a dip in the pool was likely in the future for her as well.
Arriving to the Pit, the doors opened with a slow creak, admitting the two and immediately showing them their challenge for the day. Detritus' ears dropped immediately, neck arching closer into himself and eyes looking wider. Darky stared a moment, before breathing out in that traditional manner of 'sure, of course, why not' resignation to fate. It was bound to happen eventually, they already faced two thundergugs, they would have had to face the third before the tournament was done. A part of her had just hoped Det would get some rest and recovery first. Battling had been one roller-coaster ride for him, fighting for her while also fighting against himself in the process. It was an exhausting battle for anyone.
Remember, Darky turned to him, reaching out hands to pull his head closer and lightly bump foreheads, We're in this together, yeah? Win or lose.
Blue eyes searched, then seemed to calm, a nod. Together, he rumbled low. Although that is.. a big thundergug. Bigger than the others before, save perhaps the other black and white one.
Yeah, but think of it this way, Darky smirked encouragingly, At least this one hasn't knocked Mear out of the sky, so its kind of like a fresh page? You write your own story here.
The eyes searched again, ears rising, but seemed mostly confused. Can I write myself home?
She nudged his face aside with a smile, Cheeky.
The two departed then, Darky to the trainer's stand and Detritus remaining down in the Pit, awkwardly shuffling in place. He was trying to psych himself up, that much she could feel, but the degree of success largely depended on how well he could keep that panic at bay. For if the panic took over, the static wasn't far behind.

He could do this, he could do this. The tat-lung shuffled his feet in the sand, almost looking to make tat-lung biscuits as he stretched and bent in the process, loosening himself up. In so far he had learned a few things about thundergugs, this being his third time facing one - they were cumbersome and slow (except when they weren't), they didn't really have bloodlust (except when they did) and all of them were big and bulky enough to crush him with relative ease. Quite the wonderful odds to come up against, really. Now this one was harder to get a bead on, however. All previous ones seemed to have some basic demeanour of calm indifference (which, admittedly, made sense when you considered to absolute lack of any natural threats the beasts would have), which seemed to continue. Beyond that the creature simply stood almost statuesque, giving off that false sweet hope that perhaps he even was just that.
I'm afraid it wont be that easy, interjected the sphinx, sensing those surface thoughts of his.
Detritus gave a sigh, shoulders and ears slumping. It never was.
You ready to get this going?
Not really, he wanted to say, but instead shook his shoulders, mane ruffling and planted his feet. As ever will be, he replied instead.
"Good," Darky said, under her breath, suppressing the concern for when it would no longer be around to distract him. He was scatterbrained enough, mind going mile a minute and yet getting nowhere at all, at times. The more help he got staying focused the better his chances of coming out of this with is entrails intact. "Det, fly!"
The tat-lung crouched all four feet, back and neck coiling, before he launched himself up into the air, twisting and spinning in loose circles to climb ever higher.

Jack waved to the other woman when she saw her enter, and then settled back for a good fight. This was going to be a tough one, she'd seen this one fight and he was quick, but hopefully Kro would be able to land a blow at some point, but first they had to see about making them pause a little bit. Maybe things would work out no matter what? She chewed on her lip a little before nodding, "Okay Kro, roar." Flying first was a little unexpected, but she supposed the other woman had a plan, she just wasn't sure what that was going to be just yet. Kro opened his mouth and bellowed deeply at the Tat-lung up in the sky, he had quickly gotten up there before they could even acknowledge the fact that they were there it seemed, but that was fine. Jack watched as he roared and then covered her ears a little, just in case things were going to be interesting. Which, honestly, they probably were going to be.

Calculations
-Detritus has higher dex and goes first. Detritus uses fly and launches himself into the air. Detritus now has 16 dexterity for the duration of his flight.
-Kro uses Roar. Detritus loses his next turn, and his danger sense will not activate (is canceled).

"Okay good, he's shaken, now make him bleed!" she told him through the Ribbon as the roar echoed through the arena. She smiled a little, she didn't think he was going to win, the Tat-lung was too quick, especially in the air, but that was fine, it was for fun no matter what! Still though, they weren't just going to roll over, they had to try, and if Kro could make him start bleeding heavily, there would be a better chance of them winning as long as Kro could hold out from the attacks. She chewed her lip a little as Kro squared up a little, eyeing where the Tat-lung was in the air before lashing out with massive claws, hoping to dig in and do quite a bit of damage. Maybe if they rended it would be over quicker, but she didn't want to take that chance at the moment. She just hoped he hit, and so did he.

Her hands came up to clap over her ears even before the tat-lung was fully airborne. Alas, Det himself had no such luck, being that much closer to the action and that much more busy actually putting distance between them. Most would assume tat-lung flight was an easy, simple thing, that because it required no wings it was all just a matter of state of mind. They would have been only half-right - true, the tat-lung could fly wingless and their mind had a large part in it, but what physical muscles were lacked were made up with a lot of mental exertion and concentration to keep them in the air. They believed they could fly, and the arcane energies within them obliged to support that belief, and so long as they kept believing that, they would stay airborne. It was the world's toughest game of "never think about the pink elephants" except the 'elephant' was instead replaced with 'actual laws of gravity'..
Still, even belief wasn't all that there was to it. Gravity might have been fooled, but air currents and other laws governing the skies weren't. He had to build up momentum in order to snake through the air and in order to stay snaking, he needed to get to a point where he can do dipping swoops that led into using that momentum to climb back up again only to turn around and swoop again. Strictly speaking, it wasn't exactly necessary for staying airborne, but it helped take the pressure off when you could let physics do some of the work for you.
The roar rippled through that very same air and Detritus' looping was interrupted, sending him briefly spinning in the air before he recovered, though still shaking his head. Darky lowered her hands, eyes sticking to the thundergug, to be the view Det didn't have at present. Weather the storm, she thought to him, Its on the move, just weather the storm. You know how to do that better than anyone. In a symbolic kind of sense, at least.

-Detritus skips his turn due to Roar.
-Kro uses maul. A d10 is rolled; 5 is rolled. Kro's dexterity of 7 + 5 = 12 12 vs Detritus' dexterity of 16 Kro misses his attack

The horns came up but the tat-lung was already snaking away, going higher as a result. He'd avoided the thundergug - this time - but they were far from out of the woods yet. In moments like these, with closer calls and a sudden dancing next to dangers, it was sometimes easy to attribute things to gods or spirits, the purveyors of luck. And, yes, while such spirits would certainly require their due respect, it wasn't entirely accurate - skill was just as much a factor as luck was, perhaps more so, and the tat-lung could hardly risk making one single step wrong, even if said step was in the air.
A claw tapped the railing as Darky quickly went over their options. This one wasn't quite like the others, but then, each were unique challenges in their own way. Det had shaken the roar off, but the thundergug would have no further qualms in trying to throw him out of the air with every means possible unless staggered. Though that, too, could only buy them so much time. Her mouth slowly twisted to the side as thoughts ran past. Sound.. sound had worked for them so far, in the thunder that Det could summon. But it wasn't the only kind, was it? The thundergug itself had not stamped and beat the ground like the others had, it had roared instead. In so far she'd mostly come across predators able to do that, so a herbivore pulling one off made her realize the options needn't, perhaps, be so limited.
Here's a strange thought, she began, eyes still on the thundergug, Can you do.. a high-pitched note?
Like a whistle? the tat-lung asked, climbing higher.
Not quite. You know how you store energy and there's this.. whine, that just builds? Try the end result of that. A loud and piercing as you can make it. It was unconventional, unproven, which made it that much more exciting.
Detritus' brow seemed to furrow for a moment as he paused in his flight long enough to stare down to the thundergug and consider himself. A whiny sound that pierces.. That was.. new. He gathered his focus, air near the thundergug briefly seeming to thicken but in so much smaller a scale. Quickly adjusting, the tat-lung forced more pressure into that small spot, before unclenching his claws and letting it rip itself loose suddenly and loudly. It was as if a shrill whistle had been sounded in the arena, but the beginning and end had been ripped off to only leave the two-second middle part rippling through the air.

Jack winced when Kro missed, she knew he would, still it hurt to watch. Hopefully the next one wouldn't miss, but she didn't know if it would or not. Oh well, better try for the ultimate attack he knew without worrying about it too much! At least he could do it multiple times, just in case! "Winter, Kro!" went over the Ribbon, and the Thundergug opened his mouth and exhaled. Freezing cold air and flecks of snow came roaring out of him at that moment, trying to aim for the Tat-lung and realizing it probably wouldn't hit again. That was fine though! She knew it would be eventually well, but until then, they would keep trying. The Tat-lung had to come down sometime, and it might as well be because of them at the moment, right? Chuckling a little, her eyes narrowed, just when had she gotten so completely enamored with the Pit anyway? She was looking for blood, and she wasn't sure she liked that part of herself.

Detritus uses Ping! (A d10 is rolled; 6 is rolled; this would hit if it needed a dex roll; I don't think sound moves do.) Ping is a sound based move, and therefore (as per the definition of Danger Sense) Danger Sense does not activate (it is canceled). Ping does 1 flat damage. Since an attack cannot do any less than 1 damage, Kro takes 1 Damage. Kro has 20 stamina left.
Kro uses Breath of Winter! A d10 is rolled; 7 is rolled. Kro's dexterity of 7 + 7 = 14 14 vs Detritus' Dexterity of 16 Kro's attack misses.

Kro was getting antsy, he wanted to hit this Tat-lung badly, but his breath missed when he was hit by the sound wave. He winced and dropped down to a knee for a moment, barely feeling it, but still, that stung. Jack raised an eyebrow and pulled her hands away from her ears for a moment, now that was a new one! Interesting... She smiled a little, they had more up their sleeve as well she figured, though this was probably tried and true at this point. "Thunder, Kro, shake him up again!" she told him through the Ribbon, wondering what the other owner was going to think of this, she'd probably seen it from the other two Thundergug's, might as well keep going though. Kro went up on his hind legs and then dropped down with all of his weight, slamming into the ground and shaking the stadium a little with his bulk, the noise reverberating through the air.

When the thundergug seemed to painfully flinch, the tat-lung blinked, staring at his own claws. It had worked? It worked! A sense of jubilation filled Det right up until the point where a white beam of frost suddenly came up from below and he had to flinch away from it himself, going back into his loops. The frost had been closer, but not close enough, yet.
Keep on your toes, the sphinx reminded, looking up to him, And keep moving. Remember, just because they have a hard time hitting with their horns doesn't mean they don't have more ranged capabilities. Spirits on high and how. There had been the other thundergug who breathed fire, now this one breathing ice? Given enough time it seemed anything could become like the sarane were, breathing everything under the sun. Still, at least now they were aware of the danger and the tat-lung, being more of a ranged creature himself, would have to keep that much more distance between them.
Darky looked down to the thundergug again, a plan in mind. She was halfway through calling that plan out when suddenly the thundergug seemed to rear up. Oh.. that wasn't good. But they didn't have enough time to think on it. There were one of two options and the option they went for wasn't exactly better, but all other options eventually led to it regardless. This or bust. Do or die.
"Det, charge!" And climb higher.
The tat-lung turned to see the thundergug slowly rising up and didn't need a second explanation. He knew what it meant, out of experience. Swooping up higher into the skies, his eyes began to slowly glow, mane prickle and crackle, and a static seemed to faintly distort the air around him as a soft, low pitch began to rise like tension building. And he braced for impact.
