This venture was either incredibly brave, or mind-bogglingly stupid.
Jewel hadn't decided yet. Still, he was at the door of Nature's Bounty with what was left of his savings, about to splurge them on a handful of berries. He'd heard that the breeding business was a lucrative one if you knew where to look; as such, he fancied giving it a go to see if it would go anywhere. Even if he didn't, he'd snatch the money back one way or another.
Even if it did mean squishing more bugs in gardens for radishes.
"Hello!" He called a cheery greeting as soon as he entered, taking a moment to enjoy the earthy smell prevalent inside the store. If he had his way, his house would look and feel just like Nature's Bounty, when he got one. The day he would own a big garden couldn't come fast enough. "I'm looking for some berries!"
Turner had made the best decision, he felt, whenever he had worked with the other shopkeepers to trade some of their previous stock around so that he could start working in primarily breedables. He'd had so many customers lately, and all of them quite happy with their purchases. Life was good, right now. He was watering some of the berry plants when the customer came in, so he looked up at them, smiling. "Hello there, we've got plenty. Which ones were you looking for, orbaru or pachee?" The radishes were also potted behind him, a few of them freshly harvested and cleaned.
Jewel beamed. Perfect! That's what he liked to hear. It would have been a dreadful shame if he had arrived and they'd run out! Considering how much he'd seen and heard about breeding pachee and orbaru of late, he was half expecting that to be the case. Lucky him, he supposed!
"Awesome! Uh, both, actually!" He took out the note that he had scribbled hastily and slipped into his pocket. "Let's see... I need five femininity berries, five masculinity berries, five abundance berries... hmm, five orbaru baby fruits, and two version two orbaru radishes. Whew, that's a lot..."
He'd brought his satchel with him, which sounded more and more sensible as he thought about the enormity of his purchase. He'd have to try and get the berries wrapped separately so they wouldn't mash and squish together. What would happen if you fed the creatures a squashed blend? He didn't want to find out.
Well that was great; this customer knew exactly what they needed. "Sounds great, that's... A total of 550 credits." He said, grinning. He made sure to get them put in their brown bags, all seperated out between little baggies as he began getting them together. The radishes were not separated, however. They were pretty hard, compared to the more firm but certainly squishy berries. "Was there anything else you were after today?" He said, holding the merchandise that had been recently gathered together for ease of the transaction in one arm.
Jewel watched Turner with a benevolent smile. Hooray for individually wrapped goods. While that was being sorted out, he made the effort to count out his credits in advance. It did sting him to part with an enormous handful of money like that. To a richer man, it wouldn't be as difficult, but 550 credits was the remainder of his savings. God, he was praying that the investment would be sound and justified.
"No, no, that's everything. Here you go," He said as he handed over the required amount. Each bag was taken and carefully stacked in his satchel, with the unwrapped radishes making up the base and the berries laid on top. "Thank you very much. Maybe I'll bring back some of the babies to see you!"
It was a silly, cutesy idea, but he quite liked it. Turner had an indirect hand in their coming into existence, after all!
Turner nodded, and grinned at the customer. He took the money, unaware of the individual's inner thoughts of course, and then quickly counted it before pocketing it. "Here you are!" He said, and handed over the objects of course. "Certainly, do come back and tell me about them for sure!" He did love hearing about his customer's breeding endeavors. "Have a good day!" He waved.
Riku: From what I loosely understand about the fish is that it isn't one-use, whereas the berry is. I feel like there wouldn't be any consequence of 'using' the fish...which I'd think just ooc wouldn't be counted for whatever rolls or whatever it is that it uses

Twilight-Claw: Thanks for that piece of info Ren! <3 | But would it be allowed for the flavor of the rp if the berry wasn't filling enough for the Lotine?

Renathan: There is no need to double up on a fish and a magical berry (doesn't change the effect of the berry at all) in a lotine breeding.
Jun 1, 2020 6:02:21 GMT -6
Twilight-Claw: Does anyone know if it is possible to combine both a magical berry and a fish in a Lotine breeding? Or is you can only choose one of them? (right now writing a Lotine breeding)

Riku: I got three pet levels and 15c out of it. <3 And all the necessary posts for my job salary form.

Riku: In mine my crossbreed used foxfire to burn it - but then it used incendiary illusion, which was extra scary because my cross is a plant pet with thick fur. It used the distraction to escape. I’m proud of it, and it’s okay that I won’t finish this month.

Renathan: *But of course, the RNG was not having that. / In Morgan's story, the Nyssa was a real thing, so I wanted to have two different situations for the variety.
May 31, 2020 18:15:27 GMT -6
Renathan: Yeah, the 'finished the story but the RNGods are being a butt' thing is a rather unfortunate situation to be in. I had already decided that in Ren's story, the elderly woman had lied about the nyssa and just wanted someone to talk to*

Riku: That makes sense. I've considered that before. -nod- I hope your non-hxr life is going smoothly.

Haix: Just quitting the job. Don't believe I'll be making the ten posts required per month any time soon. XD
May 31, 2020 16:34:01 GMT -6
Riku: Note to haix, I believe you can post the new application form at the same time as the quitting form. Unless you are simply taking an overall break from the job system.

Fiera Ferella: even AT the gardens yet. XD It sucks when you've finished writing your story and haven't gotten a success, because then its like "well... now what?" XD
May 31, 2020 15:51:47 GMT -6
Fiera Ferella: ive found that when there's a quest that might take longer like this, its a good idea to try and space out the story beats to try and roll a success before i get to the meat of the story. XD Like, by the time i was 5 posts in my character wasn't
