Fiera pointed at the sun bleached branch. "Okay, Serine... douse!" She said, pointing at it. Serine looked between the stick and Fiera slowly, almost as if to say "...Are you kidding me?" When Fiera repeated the command however, pointing more insistently, Serine finally leaned down again, taking in another gulp of water. Then, she flared her fins... and spat it directly at the top of the branch where Fiera had pointed. It wasn't a very strong blast, but it was enough to move the branch over slightly, making it tilt at an angle... which frankly, was more impressive than Fiera had been expecting to start with. "Good job, Serine! Good douse!" She said, showering the tilvander with a couple more anchovies. Serine flopped around picking them up, not even looking at Feira as she was given praise. She didn't need to be told she was a good girl- she already knew.

"Could you calm down just a little bit." Fiera requested as she carted the grumpy seryn down the hill. She knew it wasn't exactly comfy for Savitri when his travel tank was at this angle, but Fiera couldn't exactly argue the hillside they were traveling down into submission. She wanted a bit more privacy for their training session today so she avoided the docks, and she wanted to be able to get in the water with him, which meant she was avoiding the deeper waters of the lake. As a result she was traveling along the coastline, looking for a shallower pool to train her dragonscale seryn in. They had recently gone on a trip to the river bend that had gone quite well- for her, at least. She had caught plenty of fish and all manner of interesting shells and seaweeds, though primarily she had gotten to know Savitri better.

Unfortunately, it seemed that he was a vicious prankster, and didn't particularly care if he upset people. "Vicious" was a word you couldn't really apply to most seryn, but it came close with Savitri. His cleverness was simultaneously his best and worst feature, and his intelligence made him capable of boredom, which made him VERY capable of bothering Fiera. She was capable of bothering him right back though apparently, as he seemed very upset at the awkward sloshing of his tank as Fiera tried carrying him down the narrow path towards a more secluded pool of the lake. She could feel him thrashing against the class, and she was quietly very glad it was reinforced. If she was lucky, he'd calm down once they arrived however, and he wasn't left feeling so trapped. She supposed it couldn't be pleasant to be constantly carried around in a small bubble of breathable "air".

He would just have to deal with it though- there was no better way of getting him to the lake, and they were almost there regardless. Besides, at the very least Fiera knew that seryn COULD breathe air in a pinch, but it was best to keep them moist, especially when they were younger like this. Finally though, Fiera reached the edge of the pool, and Savitri thrashed around at the sight of more open water. "Alright alright, hold your horses!" Fiera said, thinking of the equillion-like creatures from her homeland. "We're almost there, don't make me dump you on the ground now!" She said, setting the travel tank down on the ground and cracking the lid. Savitri didn't wait for her to take him out and put him in the water, and instead launched himself from the tank, spraying Fiera with a myriad of droplets before splashing down in the pool.

Fiera sputtered, her shirt soaked. She sighed loudly, really more of a groan. She knew she was going to get wet today- she was training an aquatic creature, after all- but she didn't want her clothes to get soaked THIS quickly. She had a swimsuit on underneath, after all. "Fine. Whatever." She hissed under her breath as Savitri raced around the pool, checking out his new enclosure. While he was distracted, Fiera took the opportunity to get changed properly, stripping off the now soaked tee-shirt (tied cutely at the waist, of course) and denim shorts to reveal a basic pink two-piece underneath. She had cuter suits at home, but considering how rambunctious Savitri could get at times, she didn't want to risk sacrificing them to his prankster nature. Then she slipped on a pair of water shoes- also unattractive, but given that this was a wild place and not a swimming pool, she didn't want to risk cutting herself on a rock.

She turned around to face Savitri, showing her change of outfit off. "Well? What do you think?" She said. The seryn poked his head above the water and she watched as his eyes flicked up and down her body. Then, he ducked his mouth under, taking in a gulp of water before squirting it at her. "Augh! You little brat! Ugh, some creatures have just, NO taste." She muttered, stomping over to the bag she had dropped while changing clothes. It had everything she needed to train Savitri today... ideally. For now though, all she needed was the treats. Hopefully those would make him pay attention more than any argument she could levy against him. It had been a bit of a trip around the lake to get him here, so ideally the seryn would be nice and hungry by this point and so she could easily ply him into obedience.

The first thing Fiera wanted to teach Savitri was, of course, his name. Based on the words she said to him most as of late, he probably thought his name right now was something like "Brat" or "Stop That" or "Get Back Here". It wasn't any of those of course, it was Savitri. To help him learn this, Fiera had some fish flakes- quite basic ones, but apparently delicious to seryn- heck, seryn were probably genetically engineered to find this sort of thing tasty. Once he had a basic trick like this down, it wouldn't be difficult to apply that same process to other tricks she had planned, and maybe some fancier things too to take advantage of his natural abilities. "Alright Savitri, are you ready?" She said, turning to her pet and stepping into the water. He looked up at her with a confused expression- what was she doing in here?

However, he WAS paying attention after Fiera said his name, so she would reward him for that. "Good job, Savitri!" She said, sprinkling some pellets out into the water. They floated on the surface as the seryn approached, hesistating a moment before snatching one up in his mouth. She watched as he tasted it... and then snapped up a few more in quick succession. "Yeah, that's what I thought." She said as he swam off, trying to find the ones that had escaped him in his thrashing around. She gave it a moment, letting him collect his prize before she tried again. Then, she called out. "Savitri!" She said, trying to get her pet's attention now that he had wandered off a bit. "Oh, Savitri!" Unfortunately, there was no response- he was busy chasing after the last of the pellets she had dropped down for him, and he didn't like her nearly enough to pay proper attention.

"Oh come on- Savitri!" She said a bit louder now, snapping at him this time. He turned around in surprise, finally done with the last of the food, curious as to what got her so fussed. "Finally. Good job, Savitri." She said, and tossed some more flakes down to him. He hesitated a moment, and Fiera wondered if he was putting two and two together... but if he was, he showed no sign of it. The seryn quickly swam over to the flakes and chowed down on them, eating like any other ignorant animal. Still, he did react rather quickly that time- she just needed him to do it again. Practice made perfect, after all. She gave him a few moments to finish eating and got ready to start over. "Ok- Savitri! Over here!" She said, and waited. Savitri paused for a moment, looking around the bottom for more food.

Finally though he turned to look at Fiera, gazing up at her with wide eyes. "Good job, Savitri!" Fiera said, giving him even more food. He splashed playfully as he ate this time, thrilled to have been given more snacks. It looked like he was finally getting the hang of this- and not a moment too soon. She was getting worried about his capabilities. He seemed ready and focused this time however, and when he finally flipped himself back upright, he cruised around the periphery of the pond, waiting for Fiera's next command. She was happy to obey. "Savitri!" She called, cupping her hands around her mouth to make sure he heard her loud and clear. Sure enough, his head popped up out of the water, looking at her with bright red eyes. "Good job!" Fiera praised again, dropping treats into the water. He surged through the water, practically throwing himself into his prize.

After Savitri finished eating, Fiera repeated the trick several more times. Each time, he responded more quickly and accurately than before. She also tried random words to make sure he wasn't just responding to anything she said, and used words similar to but not his name. She avoided giving him treats when he responded to those, and soon they had teased out JUST his name from the list of options, and gotten him to respond to it regularly. Perfect. That was all she had wanted from him- a little bit of obedience. And not a moment too soon. The sun was starting to set- sooner than she'd thought- and the humanish realized that it was finally time for them to go home. She was a bit unhappy to have to pack everything up again, but there wasn't much she could do about it. Still, Savitri would be going home a little bit smarter than before- but not less of a smart-ass than before, that was for sure.

It had taken a while for Fiera to wrestle Harding into one of the holding pens at the docks, but she had finally managed it. He floated irritably in the water, pacing from end to end of the netted off area, no doubt expecting her to do something horrible to him. She had no such intentions of course... other than training. There was an agility contest bearing down on them, and Fiera knew that if she could get him a bit better trained for it, Harding would be a fantastic choice for it. He already had a lot of basic training down, but she was sure she could get him on board with some fancier things if she tried. She had all sorts of toys, baubles, and treats to work with, and was dressed head to toe in a wetsuit. All she needed now was a little luck and Harding's cooperation- easier said than done.

The first thing she wanted him to learn was how to jump through a hoop. It was a classic trick- excellent exercise for the creature, not incredibly difficult to teach in terms of movements required, and most importantly: fun to watch, which was what she needed to impress a crowd and the judges. Harding... wasn't exactly about "fun", unfortunately. He was as close to "businesslike" an animal could get. Fiera was sure she could get him across the finish line for this trick though, with sufficient motivation granted by food. She had brought a whole cooler full of fish with her to the docks- they could be here for quite a while with the number of snacks she had packed for him. She also brought, of course, a hoop- one helpfully on the end of a long pole so she could put it out into the water without actually having to get wet.

Harding was already eyeing it warily- or at least he would be if he had any eyes. He was just going to have to suck it up, however- Fiera had plans for him. First things first, she opened the cooler for easy access to fish. They were completely frozen, so luckily she wouldn't have to deal with the... sliminess of it all. First things first, she put the hoop in the water across from Harding. Then, she tossed a fish in on the other side of it, so he would have to swim through to grab it. "Harding, hoop!" She said cheerfully, setting the command word nice and early. After a few clicks of echolocation to find the fish Harding obeyed, easily swimming through the hoop to grab it. "That's it, good hoop! That wasn't so hard now was it?" Fiera said happily, throwing him another fish for good behavior.

Harding certainly wasn't upset to get another treat, and he dove underwater to finish eating it. Once he resurfaced, he seemed ready to go again, so Fiera put the hoop in the water once more. "Harding, hoop!" She said, waggling it in the water. Harding didn't move. "Come on, hoop!" She said, hoping she wouldn't need to put a treat on the other side every time to get him to do the trick. After some cajoling though, Fiera finally managed to get him to swim tentatively through the hoop. Perfect. She gave him an extra piece of fish for that- she was happy to give him treats for this, but once she moved the hoop into the air, she couldn't exactly get his treats to hover in midair to lead him through. He had to learn how to do this on his own without that temptation to hurry him along.

Nov 13, 2023 15:23:13 GMT -6
Twilight-Claw: The jewelry on tail or at the head definitely tends to be their most recognizable feature for a Mosca, and sadly their pharaoh chin piece as well. XD
Nov 13, 2023 15:21:07 GMT -6
Zenjesi: Your peanut costume is hilarious and adorable too!
Nov 13, 2023 15:14:29 GMT -6

Nov 13, 2023 15:00:42 GMT -6
Zenjesi: I definitely like Spectral's the most too! I sort of cheated by drawing Synkka with a cloak because I do not know how to draw feathered wings, haha ^^'
