Renathan had told himself that he wouldn't be back for at least another week, but something that he had thought was going to be further on during the month that he needed to get done after everything else had been moved up in the month unexpectedly. As such, if he was going to breed this last pairing, he was going to have to do it today, regardless of how long that it too. The mammalian was on the way to the breeding center, and thankfully today was not nearly as hot as it was on the day that he did the last breeding. It wasn't even all that long ago that it was incredibly hot; today it was just annoyingly warm; muggy even, beneath the cloud cover. Perhaps it would even rain again, he thought, as he made his way down the street with two orbaru carriers, one under each arm. Perhaps he would make it, and perhaps he wouldn't, before it began raining. He'd hate to get caught out in it, either way. The pair he was bringing today was actually the one that he had wanted to do the most this month; he'd been planning it ever since Rafet was born.

Renathan loved Lazare so much, but in all honesty; Rafet was Renathan's favorite orbaru. He just knew that if he kept working with her, that she might actually be the first of his orbaru that would be skilled at learning things. Rafet had something about her, that was easily seen in her deep blue-purple eyes; she was just hyper focused, very focused. Sure, it might be because she was lazy, but she seemed to have a bit of 'work smarter, not harder' that his other orbaru just didn't have. Renathan adored Rafet for that. Rafet was born from Howie's generous genetic donation, and had a lot of his markings. She was just beautiful and also an incredibly good orbaru. Renathan loved her, he really wanted to breed her quite a bit in order to bond with her and produce some more offspring that were hyper focused, he hoped. He couldn't help but sneak a glance at her through the slats of the critter carrier that she was in. Unlike many of his other orbaru, she looked bored, but not stressed. She didn't seem like she was going to run up out of the critter cage as soon as he opened it, like the others had.

Her large eyes opened up and took him in for a moment, perhaps more calculatingly than his other orbaru. He'd chosen her mate due to his more energetic, but less aggressive nature, hoping that the offspring would actually be lazer focused and ready to go, but of course Renathan was much better at choosing cute coats than he was of actually doing any kind of telling how a temperament would come out. It was very possible that he'd get the worst of both worlds out of them, but he was hoping that the train-ability would melt on through down the line, somehow. Perhaps if he was lucky, it would. The male that Renathan chose wasn't much of a slouch either; a dark chocolate custom creature, beautiful and golden-eyed, absolutely a proven male. He had a lot of descendants already, but none of them were really as pretty as him, in Renathan's opinion. Renathan had a hope that his spots would pass down this month, but he also loved Rafet's markings so he wouldn't mind at all if they didn't. It was all luck of the draw, when it came to orbaru breeding, so Renathan tried not to envision things too hard before the time came.

Leo's colors were absolutely gorgeous; chocolate with black spots, and a rusty red belly. His ear markings were absolutely divine as well; they were really understated against his fur. All of his markings were bold and gorgeous, and he had a few powers to boot. He was a warm creature, perhaps surprisingly enough. He had a male mate; but both of them didn't seem to mind breeding with females though they were generally housed together. Renathan was glad that they still bred even though they loved each other so much. Leo and Mau were inseparable, and they tended to cry whenever Renathan took one of them for breeding, until they made it to the breeding center, anyway. Today was no different; Leo cried a soft amount, actual tears from his golden eyes. Renathan frowned softly, looking at him. "Don't worry leetle Leo, you'll be okay boyo. We're just going for a breeding, Mau will be fine, and then I'll bring you right back to him, okay?" Renathan gently said, giving him a soft voice and tone to make sure that he would feel better. At least he was used to Renathan enough to be comforted slightly by his voice, anyway.

Leo was not exactly completely comforted by Renathan, however. Too bad that Renathan was not able to bring Mau along with them, undoubtedly he would feel so much better being able to be near him. However, the breeding center was a clinical place and the rules were the rules, they would never be able to understand what Leo's situation was. At least Renathan knew Leo well enough to know that he would come back around eventually, and that he'd be fine servicing Rafet regardless. Renathan took another glance at Rafet. Her body was mostly white, with her waist band a pretty brown; it was surprisingly not as dark a sable as her father's but not really the same color as her mother's either? And her head and tail markings were a pale blond, especially beautiful, almost not quite visible against her pale white fur. Renathan couldn't help but look at it sometimes, it was just so pretty. Yes, this pair was the pair he'd been wanting to do all month and just managed to do the other ones first, if only because he wanted something very specific for it; something that the kid had wound up offering him in trade for something.

Renathan figured that if this breeding produced at least one offspring that was what he wanted, that he would continue to breed Rafet. He actually was traded a male Stray orbaru as well, and he really, really hoped that he would be able to breed her to him next month. Renathan was sure that the offspring would be especially good looking; he really loved chocolate tones and white, and that would produce a really nice mix of chocolatey and white offspring, he figured. But he was going to do this breeding first because he wanted for the male feral (named Twix) to be able to settle on down into his orbaru house before being bred for the first time. Undoubtedly he would have a difficult time learning to be a house pet, since he'd always been feral to Renathan's knowledge. Renathan smiled softly, and then looked back at Leo again. He wished that he was not so miserable, being away from Mau, but it was indeed endearing. Leo was perhaps one of the most loyal orbaru he'd ever seen, to himself and to his friends. Perhaps even outshining Lazare in that way. He hoped that he would calm down a bit, soon enough.

Renathan had bred Leo many times and he was always this way, but it still made Renathan super worried about it. Renathan had managed to deal with it before with lots of cuddling, but it was hard to do that when using a carrier to get the creatures to and fro. It was important to do that nowadays, since the breeding center was a bit more stringent now than it had been before. Despite this, Renathan would never stop breeding orbaru completely, even if the rules really did change specifically for some reason. No matter how stringent the breeding center got. Renathan really, really loved this hobby; he was doing it a long time ago too, and he wouldn't stop just because it got harder... Renathan heard a clap of thunder, not too far away, but it was pretty quiet. He hoped that he could get to the breeding center before the storm rolled all the way in, but it was beginning to look like he indeed wouldn't. Hopefully there would be less folks in the breeding center today? It seemed like a bad hope, but he had really been tired of waiting lately. Those long waits were the absolute worst.

The pale snowy white of Rafet's back caught Renathan's eye again, contrasting against the pale golden blond that streaked it in places. She was quite pretty; Renathan knew that she could certainly be improved upon, however. She deserved to have the most pretty offspring, in Renathan's opinion, and he already had quite a few males lined up for her, only the best ones of his stock. Leo, Twix, Lazare, and maybe even Mochi were the first few that came to his head when he looked at her. She was just gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous. Renathan had to choose which ones to go first, and Leo was that orbaru for sure. Renathan stepped faster, trying to get down the street as quickly as possible. Already, people were trying desperately to get to where they were going before the rain started. Renathan was counting the seconds, hoping that he could keep them out of the rain before it actually started and all. If Rafet was worried about the thunder from earlier, she never showed it. A lot of his paler orbaru seemed to do better with storms, from Renathan's experience. He had no idea why, perhaps it was because a lot of them were related?

Renathan was slowly beginning to realize that not only was breeding for coats causing some rather pretty colors to be made, but also it was mixing some personality traits that were quite dominant out of all of them. Some of these were some forms of aggression that he wasn't quite sure what to make of. Orbaru were pacifists, and herbivores, so he shouldn't really be having to deal with any kind of aggression, right? Renathan was slowly beginning to realize that there were indeed ways that orbaru could be aggressive, to both each other and others. It was often confusing to realize that, but it was especially obvious to Renathan in Lazare's lineage. Lazare had a strange personality quirk about him that had made him aggressive even before becoming a battle orbaru, so it seemed pretty obvious to Renathan to choose him to be changed into a battle orbaru when he was given the potion. However, Renathan frowned as he thought of Cinnabon. She had become quite aggressive, with all of that ear pulling... Where had it come from? Why was it so strong in her? She was far more aggressive than Lazare had ever been, at least physically. Renathan wasn't sure if this was a good thing...

Renathan had to re-home Cinnabon, and though he wasn't really picky about who got her, he was really concerned about the individual that had come to pick her up. A Ssashirk; not that it bothered him, Ssashirk were good people as well, but this one didn't seem to have any experience with orbaru at all. Renathan had considered turning them down based on this for the briefest of seconds, and then handed Cinnabon over as scheduled. One day, a long time ago, a really nice humanish had allowed Renathan to borrow two of their orbaru when he'd never had any before, to produce a baby for himself. Renathan had been so thankful, and still loved his orbaru, and had quickly become quite good at taking care of them. He figured that this individual might feel the same way, some day. Either way, Cinnabon would do better in a home without orbaru anyway, so that she couldn't hurt anyone anymore. Poor S'more was scarred for life because of her, and he couldn't in any good conscience keep them in the same household anymore. He felt like such a bad owner just thinking about how that situation had wound up. But sometimes, these things happen, he supposed.

Renathan was continuing on his trek when he heard another soft roll of thunder, deceptively soft, and a streak of lightning lit the sky above him. He glanced up to see it, and was surprised to see the bright light illuminate the clouds... Oh, the clouds had gotten so dark on his way, rolling in from the south. He frowned beneath his mask. Yeah, they weren't going to make it before the rain started, were they? Renathan didn't want to take off running because it might stress Leo out more, but when he glanced down at the chocolate-y colored male, he realized that the creature was crying worse. Oh, he was worried about Mau probably, and of course with the lightning he was super scared. That actually made sense. Renathan groaned inwardly, he knew that the poor creature might be a little hesitant to breed now that he was stressed, and that wasn't something that Renathan really wanted to deal with. It was a big ole mess, and now Renathan couldn't really fix it. Halfway between home and the breeding center, turning back wasn't going to get him to a safe place any quicker, so he might as well press on anyway.

Press on he did, of course. Renathan had so many things going on today; and he needed to get this done before the rest of the month started anyway. He was about to start being so busy that he wouldn't have time to do anything else, so he needed to get a move on regardless of whether he wanted to tromp through the rain or not. Of course, he'd try not to deal with the rain at all, because Rafet and Leo would certainly not enjoy having to deal with the rain. It was yet another of the conundrums that Renathan wound up having to deal with on these little breeding center excursions. He was tired, really tired in all honesty. He'd been working so much lately that he really didn't have time for much of anything. A real sad situation was beginning to rear it's head, though he absolutely loved what he did often, it was keeping him from doing his other hobbies. He'd have to give up one or the other, at least mostly, and he knew himself well enough to know that he'd weight his job a little higher than orbaru breeding. Now that orbaru breeding was back, he wanted to use all of the breedings he was allowed a month.

Renathan was going to have to do at least one breeding a month from here on out, for sure. He glanced back down at Rafet again, who was looking back at him rather boredly. She was just so pretty; she was his favorite right now for sure. He had so many pretty offspring being born lately, so it wasn't really too shocking to get one this pretty. Well, she could certainly be prettier; of course, but when it came to genes, she had everything he could have hoped for. Her markings would undoubtedly look good in literally every color combination he could even think of at all. Just absolutely beautiful for sure. It was amazing that she wasn't even afraid of the oncoming storm either, and that was awesome. Renathan suddenly felt the pressure drop, and he nearly cussed in his native tongue. He knew what that meant; it didn't even take long for the first raindrop to hit his shoulder. Shoot, this was going to suck. Renathan made sure that the critter crates were gently placed under his arms firmly, and then he began walking quite a bit faster, his eyes fixed on the end of the road. They just had to turn just up here...

Renathan was sure that it would begin raining heavily before they got to the end of the road, but thanks to his quick movements, the trio (the russet mammalian and his two critter crates each with an orbaru cradled within) managed to get to the end of the road and turn toward the one with the breeding center at the end of it before it started to rain heavily. Leo was absolutely terrified, making scared Orbaru noises, and Rafet didn't seem to be super happy about the wet raindrops that were getting through the slats of the critter crate. Renathan didn't particularly like being wet either; his fur didn't really react well to rain much. He frowned. Should he begin running and risk rattling the orbaru more, or should he just keep going at a roughly quick walk, to keep the critters from getting any more quickly freaked out, even though the rain was probably going to make them worse over time? Renathan fretted for a single moment, and then decided to half jog, trying desperately to get to the end of the road where he could see the breeding center. They could do this... The breeding center was just right there!
